This is my neighborhood post office so I end up coming here a couple times a month. It's usually not too busy, but people come in spurts. They generally only have one person working the desk, so if you happen to go in at a time with higher traffic, you're going to be in line for awhile. The workers are not what you would call speedy, but they have always been very friendly. If you have a package with prepaid postage, just set it on the counter next to the registers. No need to wait in a long line unless you want a receipt. The priority mail supplies is pretty bare most of the time, so don't expect to find it there. Better to order it online and have them deliver it to you if you can. What they do have is mostly located in the middle of the room at a kiosk type thing. They have some pens and tape at the registers if you need them too. Also they don't stock postcard stamps. Unless you're interested in buying them 100 at a time, that is. It's not in the best area so if you go to drop mail off at the blue bin at night, stay alert. Many times I've seen homeless people settling in for the night next to the building.

This had been my neighborhood post office for several years. I have never spent less than 30 minutes waiting in line at this location, pure agony. The most people that have been working the front I have ever seen is only two. When picking up a package they have the regular special window for pickups, so you don't have to wait in line with everyone else. They have posted hours of when this window is open for use, however my experience with it has been very confusing. Every time I have been to the post office it has been after the window hours. First visit I waited in the regular line to pick up my package, upon arrival at the desk I was informed to next time use the window, um ok. My second visit I walked right up and rang the bell for someone to come to the window, and I was instructed to wait in line by the person at the desk. I just can't get it right! Every time I get the same reaction from the worker at the desk no matter who it is, the "why don't these people get it" scoff. Well maybe because even though hours are posted your use of the window does not make any sense! I recently went to the University location on Richmond to send off my passport for renewal. It's a different world over there. They had three people at the desk helping the line move, an additional person behind the desk instructing people in the passport needs, another in the lobby taking passport pictures and another at the window getting packages. That's 6 people working directly with the public at this location! What is going on? It only took 10 minutes to get to things done and I even had to go through the line twice because I had to take my passport picture. After visiting the other location I really wish my neighborhood post office would just be closed down and put out of it's agony if it's going to be supported in this manner. Oh and by the way my mail delivery also is terrible. I often get second notice bills before I get the first one. There are at least three people that used to live at my residence that the post office refuses to stop sending me their mail and I've been here for years. They also never attempt to deliver packages to the house. I have been home several times when I receive the notices they leave, but they have never rung the doorbell.

Left a note saying hey this isn't my mail. What did the postman do? Just put more mail on top.

I've been here a few times and I've always had a good experience. The ladies up front are always so kind and helpful.

Convenient location, but the drive up drop off box was temporarily out of service when I went today. Hopefully will be back up soon!

Another update: Most recent visit yielded a very friendly person at the counter. I was impressed.

I told her I have sent postcards from this office and recipients tell me there is no postmark. She said that those postal workers were not doing their job. I showed her the usps website through my phone that a hand-stamped postmark can be requested at the post office. She told me that this is only at the discretion of the postal worker. It was not even a busy time as there was no one waiting behind me.

It's not perfect, but I can't think of too many post offices that are. The best things? Parking is abundant, the crowds aren't really here in full force (even during closing time), and it seems low-key most of the time. I am able to send most packages without much stress and the self service machine is usually working quite well. I haven't owned a PO Box here, but I don't intend to either. The not-so-fun things? The staff is painfully slow sometimes. Even though there's no line, the wait can be a little bit of a deterrent when the counter ladies are taking their time with each customer. It's likely the customers, but they always seem to run out of pens for filling out forms, so bring your own. The place also smells a bit like mildew, but I've noticed this is common with most post offices throughout the city. If I can get here, send a package / certified letter, and leave in 5 minutes or less, I consider that a thumbs up. It hasn't always been the case, but for the most part, this is a likely scenario for most of my visits.
