I had no issue in purchasing stamps from the clerk. She was fine. Got my stamps, no problem. Asked if I can mail out my letters with her. She told me to go outside to mail it. So I did. My issue is with the employee whom I simply asked where to mail out my letters. She was in the lobby working on packages. She had the audacity to tell me to please read, and asked if I can read? When asked to speak to her supervisor and waiting. She also had the nerve to ask me if I was Korean. What does that even matter? Very unacceptable behavior. You need to provide training for this employee. I did speak to Annabelle, who says she's the supervisor. She suggests I make a complaint on the website or the 1800 number. Honestly, not as bad as I thought especially during holiday week. I came to this post office few times before and it was always miserable but this visit was surprisingly pleasant and here's why. I came into this Flushing Main St post office to send out our Christmas cards to family in Taiwan. The line was some what long if you looked at it but it moved fairly fast thanks to the help of the manager and another postal worker that was expediting the line. They made sure people were on the correct line and checked with those who didn't need to lineup and only needed to pickup a package and also folks who were there to apply for a passport. The manager was also on hand, helping customers on line. There was just a lot of positive communication for the first time and I also saw one customer on her way out thanked the manager personally and wished him a merry Christmas. Verdict - If only all post offices operated this way on a regular basis. The manager, really, two thumbs up for assisting so many non-English speakers in the best way you could. The line wasn't a standstill and I was out of there in no time which was a first. read more

I've been to numerous post offices and this location has the ABSOLUTE WORST customer service. The employees act as if you're bothering them when you ask questions for clarification on services. Yes it is very busy but that's not an excuse for being rude and impatient. This is by far the worst post office I've had the pleasure of going to. The environment is extremely hostile and there's not enough staff to take care of the demand, especially during the morning to early afternoons. Wait times are tediously long and the staff is very inconsistent. Would not recommend going here unless you have no other option. read more

The USPS in Downtown Flushing is like 10 minutes away from where I live, so it's really convenient for me. I was surprised by the poor reviews because I've gotten my passport renewed here(expedited) and I often mail letters and packages here too. Of all the times I came here, the employees I've interacted with were attentive, fast, and efficient. There's always an employee standing by a counter near the passport office and by the line(where people mail packages) directing and helping customers. Although the line may be long sometimes, the wait is sort of bearable, but it all depends on what time of the day you arrive. I have never encountered bad customer service or what not. I've also noticed that not many of the customers here speak English fluently. Maybe that's why people are experiencing poor service. However, for passport services, there really needs to be more employees at the windows. I've waited 2+ hours to renew my passport last summer. In this day and age, that is ridiculous. read more

All the employees behind the glass doors work in slow motion and take their sweet precious time. As we speak, there are 35 people on line to be services and only 3 windows were open. I used to think they hire all the who failed the postal examination. Their service use to suck with a capital S. But on coming here again after a long absence, they now have a woman helping customers online making sure customers are being helped and the line moves efficiently. Service is much better now. The wait time has been greatly reduced. This location has a passport renewal office, but they only serve the first 25 people from 9:30am. You can get your passport renewed in one day. I don't know how long the wait is. There is one self service machine at this location, where you can buy stamps and send out packages. I'm tentatively giving it three stars. I want to give four, but will after I go more times. So far I've been here twice and both times minimal wait and a helpful woman working the line. read more

Great place to cool down on a very hot day!

The building may look pretty from the outside*, but it sure as hell is a hot ass mess on the inside. Abysmally slow and actually pretty abusive service, snaking lines that move an inch per hour thanks to having only three staffers when we have seven office windows (!), and a tacky painting of old-school Flushing, Richmond Hill, Bayside that resonates with absolutely no one in 2014. To top it all off, a bunch of mail I should have received has not been given to me and it's a hassle to work with them because they aim to make people's lives as difficult as possible. Avoid avoid avoid. I've used this post office all my life, but I feel it has gotten worse and worse as time goes by. Either that, or it always this shitty and I didn't notice until now. * Even on the outside though, you gotta be careful. Nice exterior and interior for the building. Pretty clean and organized, just old. Most staffs are pretty friendly and helpful. Usually there's a small line but some people take quite long so each person usually take 3-5mins at least if they are confused about how to properly send a package the staff explain so takes longer. The pick up is on the right side passed the PO boxes when you walk in. read more

How does one review a post office? Well I'll go ahead and try. This is one of the oldest post offices in Queens and from the outside, it is very majestic looking. Stone steps and pillars! There's even a mural on the ceiling inside! Unfortunately, service is super slow here but I can't say if its the staff (who are friendly) or a result of the people (cutting, frequent questioning, mass confusion). Each time I've come here, more often than not, the lines are long and I have to wait at least a half hour. I try to use the machines when I can. The line to pick up packages is super long. There is a lady that sometimes walk around the lobby and helps to manage the line. I wish she spoke Chinese because that might alleviate a lot of the mass confusion from those that only speak Chinese. When I do get to the window though, the staff are very helpful and are efficient. Some helpful tips--bring along some music to listen to while waiting online to help keep yourself sane! read more

Despite all the negative reviews, this was the only post office by me, so I had to go. Went in Thursday around 5pm and surprisingly there was no line considering everyone said how bad or slow the line moved here. The Staff had great service and friendly smiles and were helpful in getting my package packaged up to ship. I did give it 4 stars, however because it did seem a little less organized then most of the post offices I go elsewhere. read more

You know what, I like this post office. It's nearby to my home, and yeah, it's the slowest post office I've ever been to. But every post office I've been to hasn't exactly been fast, and with the amount of foreign customers and employees, it's bound to take a while longer with all the mass confusion. I've never had a problem mailing packages for my business or picking any up. The postage machine, although often down, is great because it's always empty. And even when I am stuck waiting in line, it's never been for more than 20 minutes. And I'm done in a minute. Truthfully the worst part about this place is the customers. They treat other customers and employees disgustingly, cut in front of everyone else, and get in the way when I'm trying to pay attention to the next open window. I love the woman who is occasionally helping calm the line, because she actually does her job and gets those people out of everyone elses way, therefore, I get my job done faster. Went to this post office to get my daughter's passport renewed. The Black lady clerk is very helpful and nice to me. When I told her I didn't receive any email from USPS for the confirmation, she asked me to see the supervisor whose name is Annabelle (Chinese lady). She is very rude, nasty and impatient especially towards the Chinese clients who don't know much English. A very terrible supervisor who works in the customer that I have ever seen in my life in US so far. She not even care to help those who needed help badly there. I truly wish USPS will look into this matter and take it seriously. USPS shouldn't have this kind of nasty person to work in the front line to serve customers. Went here yesterday to get a passport. No complaints about that department. I waited for a bit (approx. 2 hours), but the counter lady was nice. Meanwhile, couldn't help but notice the line outside of the passport office. The line for regular mail. It was long. By that I mean loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong. After I did what I had to do, I left the passport office. Noticed the line for regular mail didn't get shorter - it got longer! I mean loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong.... I can see why people bitch about this place. Luckily I didn't have to mail anything. Whew! So I'm making a metal note never to go here for anything postal, just passports. Other than that, it's a pretty building. read more

This review is specifically for my experience in the Passport Office located within the Main Street Post Office. It is necessary for one to make an appointment online, in order to submit paperwork for a US Passport at this location. If you simply want to pick up some applications for a new passport, a renewal or a lost passport you can pick them up at the Information desk or download them online. Most other tasks must be completed in the Passport Office by appointment. I had to replace a lost passport so I made an appointment online which was scheduled about a week and half later. Then I downloaded all the relevant applications, filled them out and printed them out. Additionally, I took the required single passport photo. I had an 11:30AM appointment and got there at 11AM. There were 3 people in the room who were ahead of me, and were completely unprepared. One individual didn't even bother filling out any of their forms, another didn't have their passport photo and to compound the issues there was a language barrier. I made an appointment a week and half prior, as I'm sure everyone else did - ample time to ask questions, get photos taken, have forms filled out, etc. ... smh. When I finally got called up to submit my forms, I was greeted by a lovely woman named Vickie. G#d Bless this woman ... she has the patience of a saint! I submitted all my paperwork and gave her two checks. One to the State Department for the replacement passport $110 and the second to the Postmaster to accept my paperwork for $25. Vickie made the process so much pleasant and tolerable - real professional. Entire time at the Post office was about 1 hour, my time at the counter took less than 10 minutes and then I was on my way. read more

The worst post office ever! I only get about 70% of my packages delivered from them. 30% never shows up and they can never find it. Amazon has had to resend or refund me many times because of this. The other thing about this place and the people that work there is they like to say they tried to deliver but couldn't get in to building. This is 100% false. I know this because my buildings front door has been broken for over 2 months and anyone can get in. Over all I have told Amazon that I will not order anything from them that will be sent from the post office. I really think that this post office needs to be investigated because I can't be the only one that had packages just never show up and can't be found. read more

I politely asked for one and the teller gave an attitude saying they don't have that size, the size of a shoebox! when clearly they did! She eventually came to her senses and said to pick a box and if I'd like to purchase tape as well! When I asked for the manager she refused to relieve the issue! I went across the street to a UPS service and asked for a box and tape, I was done within 3 minutes! If you came here to renew/ apply for a passport, think again. This place was trash and I completely wasted my time here. I was told I needed a translator because my english wasn't "good enough", and even when I went and got a translator they said it wasn't enough, I had to know them for 10+ years. I met all their online critera but still wasn't given access and they even threatened to have me removed. When the manager came along, she actually believed the story the lady at the counter said (an old white lady) and she believed the lies they made up. Like, seriously? This was unfair to me, and several people in front of me were treated the same way. Do not come here for anything else either, the lines here are very slow and you will be lucky to have 2 lanes open. This review is for passport only. They accept 30 applicants each day. I arrived at 5:30 AM and there was already 23 people ahead of me. The door opens at 6:30 AM, and the head count starts at 7:30. Somehow, we're number 30. Last time we were also number 30, but 40 minutes later, I was told it was a miscount, so this is my second day attempt (finger crossed.) You need to have your passport application filled out, they check that you have all the required documents, then issue you a time to come back after they open at 9:30 AM. read more

If you want slow, rude, lazy postal service and people screaming at your face, then you've come to the right place. I hate getting those pink slips for pick up just cause I know I have to deal with the people there. I don't even mind the wait as much. But 3 out of 4 times I get those pick up slips the same lady tells me "there no such address". Like lady they gave this pink slip to my address how can there not be one. And they require id to pick up anything. Even if the address match and your picking it up for family they'll still give you a problem. And forget about that line to get any postal service done. They have more "Closed" signs than they have windows and its always the slowest, rudest, loudest non-English speaking employee behind it who is clearly just waiting for payday. read more

USPS lost my important EAD card mail. They said the mail has been delivered to my box. But I haven't received it. Their reply was rude, said that the mail might be stolen. Worst post office in NY extremely slow and disrespectful. I waited on the line while the cashier took only Chinese people first lying to me several times saying how they were here first. They are also mean and tell me don't come back to them as I have too much packages. They mainly focus on money orders and sales no sendings. They also ripped me off several times over charging me for all my packages. Also when I send out my packages they mainly lose the packages I send out in the location and never have a reason as to why. I don't like this store but I am forced to go to it. read more

If you are applying for your first passport and looking for an acceptance facility, DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!! This is by far the absolute WORST experience I've ever had at any public service facilities - DMV's included. Certain employees that work in this place go out of their way to make people's lives miserable. First of all, the passport department opens at 9:30AM, but they expect you to come in around 8AM to obtain a number - AND they limit the amount of numbers that are given out each day. I was #30 when I arrived around 9:45, and the last number of the day was 35. So anyone who came in after 10AM was basically told to come back another day - BY OTHER CUSTOMERS. No employee, or even any signs were available to deliver this information, I've seen people who sat in the air conditioning-less (On a 95 degree day!!) room for hours then find out they won't even be serviced that day. Second of all, even though only 35 numbers were given out, it's one number per FAMILY. There were around 40 people in the room, and only ONE window was open out of three. Obviously our time is valueless to the people that are operating this hell hole. After waiting for 5 hours for them to get from #9 to my number, I walked up to the window and handed them all the required documents. That's when the clerk rudely told me that I must have my mother present to "co-sign" because at the time we were naturalized, I was a minor. Please allow me to inform you that NO WHERE on the government website, forms, or any regulations states that you must have the parent accompany you when you apply, unless you are a minor. I haven't been considered a minor for many years. She refused to listen to my argument and told me to call the passport agency and shoved my documents back through the window opening, while telling her coworkers how ridiculous I was when SHE was the one who did not know the policies! (I confirmed with the Department of Travel later on that what this lady told me was absolute non-sense). I spoke to her "supervisor" afterwards, and she told me the same thing - call the passport agency and argue with them because co-signing is the "policy", or I can fly my mother in from California or fly there to get my passport. HOW IS IT A POLICY WHEN IT'S NOT LISTED ANYWHERE?! They made me waste FIVE hours to give me some BS excuse they made up on their own, when I was well prepared with all the documents to process my request. Thank you, mean Chinese lady with the glasses and your short haired supervisor. I will be stopping by to acquire your names and reporting you to Dept of State for your terrible service and your way of "ending the business day on time" by giving customers FALSE information to get rid of them. read more

I have a friend who is an ESL teacher in Korea and asked for some goodies from the states. So since Flushing is open late I went here to mail a package to my friend. I waited in line with customers fighting, who had BO in this heat and with employees taking the only power they have ever had in their sad life came out to fight with customers and the employee (who claimed they were the supervisor) also had BO, held up the already long line to push their power. They did not pull them aside. They just started verbally abusing the customer. Once I actually got to the window after almost 2 hours of waiting in line quietly, the window clerk told me they did not send packages over seas at this Post Office! I asked to see a supervisor she said no flat out! A few of the customers in line said they send international packages all the time. What is worse the supervisor was caught up in an unnecessary fight with a customer and there is no way I could get their attention. Another customer actually threatened to call the police on the supervisor. It was just laziness on the part of the window clerk who was telling all of the customers similar stories none of which were true. I left. I had to wait a few days took it to a real Post Office in my neighborhood and I asked if it was true that Flushing does not send international packages they said that was not true!
