After reading the past posts that others have left, I think it's important to take time to give credit where it's do. For the past year that I've been going to this post office, it's been the same two women working every day of the week every Sunday. They're very much overworked and underpaid. Not to excuse what others have experienced, but imagine having a customer facing role, working a six-day work week with regular opportunitlies to have vacation time. I am a clothing reseller , and the USPS is my best friend since it is 2 blocks away from me...letting me offer my customers super fast shipping date service in my opinion. Why i am giving this a 1 star now is due to , none of the clerks are not taking my packages because they say it says "Amazon Prime" and they will not take and sit there and argue with you like if your stupid and don't know what your doing. When i started reselling , they took my packages saying Amazon Prime with no absolute problem...now they want to say it's a huge deal and they CANNOT take it...but if you go to any other USPS in the city and go up to the clerk with your package in a Amazon Prime mailer because you probably couldn't find a normal plain box , they wouldn't even say anything about the Amazon Logo and just take it. On Monday, I went to ship a package for a friend of mine which was a Target box which I reused. The clerk acted really nasty after she yelled at me saying that I couldn't ship anything reusing that box unless you cover the markings. I clearly got upset because of the way I was being treated and then as I was leaving peacefully, she called me a "white asshole" and I had to curse back at her. Then I contacted the USPS which a woman named Jackie who claims to be in charge of this area from way over in Rego Park was giving the same Standard Operating Bullshit that all these companies give you now so they get you to back off. This person thought I was the one who instigated this situation when it was the clerk who got nasty with me and was cursing at me on the way out of the door when I was leaving peacefully and send this package at another post office because I'm never going back there again. I've never seen such disrespect from a postal worker of this magnitude and racially as well. The workers at this particular station are all rude, unprofessional. The place is a graveyard and when it comes for them to do work, you have to wait a minute or two since they're gossiping or looking at their phones texting or watching videos. This is not how a postal employee is supposed to behave and I don't care what this Jackie says since she's not physically there to observe them and repremand them right on the spot for their actions. You can't just sit on your ass from long distance and keep control of post offices like this. It doesn't work and ultimately, incidents like mine will get higher and higher and for this post office, i hope it does to show how irresponsible they are and this lady really tried to make me look stupid not knowing how this works and how customer service should be. These women are not going anywhere. I know that and this lady expects me to accept an apology when the clerk lied to her that I said something to provoke this when I did not and tried to leave without a problem until she said what she said. I shouldn't be humiliated in front of people for that clerk to justify that she thinks she was in the right when she knows that in the end she is going to lose big time. They also lost a long time customer because I had been going there since the late 90s, when customer service was customer service not the shit we have now with lazy unmotivated workers. This Jackie says that there are no signs on the floor saying you can't reuse Amazon boxes or anything like that. I call bullshit on that. I didn't see any and I'm not stupid either as she thinks I am. This goes for all post offices. They should put a sign saying this and not go in the post office and waste your damn time because they're not clear about this at all. If a clerk says it's not okay, ask the station manager (IF THERE IS ONE) and let them explain it to you because this person clearly thinks that this is everywhere and it's not. These clerks definitely should go for sensitivity training for as long as it takes for them to learn how to treat people with respect and not treat them like garbage. We pay their salaries with our taxes and we deserve better than this and they shouldn't get away with anything. They can close my case but this station is royally fucked going forward. Until there's a big change there with the workers, I strongly suggest that you walk to another post office close by or where ever you work because this is as worse as it gets. The place is filthy. It's a hit or miss coming to this post office. Very happy that this post office is still here. Next one is out in Jackson Heights or Rego Park or Junction Blvd which is too far of a hike. Been here numerous time. Yes, lines will be long as well as the wait time. Recently, with the heat wave there was no one on the line. Nice air conditioned facility just to make a pit stop and cool off. Service is a hit or miss as well depends on who you encounter. One woman was like not happy and was loud when I asked her a question. The man at the counter was awesome. He was very helpful the last time. Provided info on when the priority mail package would get to the final destination. Great place to stop by and pick up boxes and envelope for priority mail. It is what it is when it comes to government agencies. Just be patient and you'll get to the counter. read more

I visited Elmhurst Post Office as I had a couple of items to send internationally that I wanted to get shipping options for. There was no line in the Post Office and I heard someone say "Next" so I approached the counter. The Post Office employee I approached was looking down at her phone watching videos which I was very surprised to see. Thinking perhaps I'd approached the wrong employee and this person was maybe on their break, I said "Excuse me, was it you that called me over?" She replied "Yes" very abruptly, without looking at me. I explained that I had a package to send and wanted to know what my options were. The employee continued to scroll through videos on her phone and barely looked up at me. She then said that it would cost $30 for up to 4 weeks delivery with no tracking. I asked her what the options would be with tracking. She replied "You need to buy a box and weigh it." It was clear that she was conveying the bare minimum of information and throughout this exchange she continued to look at videos on her phone. Still hoping to achieve what I had come in for, I explained that I knew the weight of the items I was sending was 2lbs, so it would be helpful if she could she give me a general idea of cost with tracking. I wasn't expecting a specific amount, but a ballpark estimate. She replied "I SAID that it's $30 for up to 4 weeks delivery with no tracking. Anything else you need to get a box and weigh it. I can't help you". I started to reply and she cut me off saying "I've already told you. I'm not sure why you're still standing there with all that sass asking me questions". I was shocked that a representative of USPS would be openly scrolling on their phone during work hours, especially when they are in a customer facing role. I was even more shocked that I was verbally attacked simply for asking for clarity on international shipping options. I then replied and said it felt as though she was more interested in looking at videos on YouTube than helping customers. She replied "I'm not looking at YouTube, I'm looking at Instagram and I don't know why you're still standing there." At this point I took a photo of her, knowing I would follow up with a complaint. It's clear from the two images that her whole demeanor was unprofessional. Seeing that I was taking a photo she said "Yeah, that's right, take a photo. Make sure you get my good side." I am beyond appalled that a USPS employee would be so incredibly rude and unhelpful. From the minute I walked over to the counter, I was treated with zero courtesy or professionalism, only an extraordinarily bad attitude. This is hands down the worst customer service interaction I have ever experienced. My husband who was also with me was equally horrified. I left the Post Office without having received any help whatsoever, only rudeness and insults. From reading the numerous terrible Google reviews for this location (1.7 stars out of 197 reviews) as well as Yelp (1.5 stars out of 83 reviews) it is clear that this was from from a one off incident. It cannot be the norm that government employees are able to conduct themselves this way. It's truly a disgrace. Not only was I not helped, but I was obstructed. I will have to FedEx the package instead because I'd rather pay extra money and have a professional service. I have had 3 different missing packages in the past two months, one outgoing and two incoming. I got a package pickup confirmation, but tracking never started, so the postal worker either lost it or stole it. The two incoming packages were marked "delivered in mailbox" and there was nothing in the mailbox. Our building has locked mailboxes. So they either dumped it on the floor or stole it themselves. I inquired about the packages and the women at the Elmhurst office pop gum in your face and give you a massive attitude. Totally unhelpful. On Wed March 24, 2021, I had an unprofessional and unpleasant interaction with "Hank" (Clerk 05) at the clerk station to the far right of this location. Hank is a black male, around age 40-55, balding, graying short cropped hair. I brought up my package to be scanned and obtain a receipt. He then went on a tirade of how he is tired of scanning packages. He repeatedly whined that he does not have to scan it and how I should scan it myself. I started to say "well..." then he curtly and rudely cuts me off and shouts "WELL WHAT?! You already get a discount on these packages and you should not have both desserts." Hank continues to raise his voice and protests that it's not his job. Be advised that there was NO ONE ELSE ON LINE AHEAD OF OR BEHIND ME. He eventually scanned the receipt. I will monitor this package and if there is any damage or is lost, I will know that Hank intentionally destroyed an item in his possession. I will also file this complaint with the local and regional postmasters if possible. Hank needs to learn more customer service skills, or get a position more to his temperament. I would think that the postal service needs as much business as it can get. I have no problem going to another postal location and let them get the credit of serving its community respectfully and competently. I can also use FedEx and UPS and let them generate more revenue. If Hank's goal is to get rid of customers to play Candy Crush on his phone, then he has succeeded. read more

She opened the Elmhurst A 80-27 Broadway, Elmhurst, NY 11373 branch 15 minutes late and became angry when a customer knocked on the wall and requested she open the post office on time and work versus talking and listening to music audible through the wall. 1. There's always only one or two ladies working throughout the day with a line out the door - just to pick up a package, one has to wait an hour or two. 2. I have constantly signed a package release to leave my package at the door of my apartment but they still leave a slip. I was there to get my package delivered, and i heard one lady, trying to ask 1 guy inside the office (seems to me he must be the driver ) because he was wearing usps jacket. That lady that speaks very little english, was really confused, and asked him how to send her stuffs internationaly to japan. I went to USPS to drop off a package on September 30, 2019. Before that, I spent around $7.50 and purchased a USPS shipping label on eBay. So I asked the staff member at USPS, "does the shipping label include any envelopes or boxes ." He could've just answered my questions, tell me yes or no, or give me some helpful suggestions to help me ship the package. But he DID NOT. He increased his volume and asked me back, "when you printed out this label from your computer, did it say it came with envelopes or boxes?!" I said I don't know. He was even louder, "YOU DON'T KNOW?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T KNOW." It made me felt I did something wrong. I repeated, "I am just not sure about that." Finally he answered my question, "When you printed out your label, if it didn't come with the envelopes or boxes,then it's no. During the whole conversation he didn't offer me any help or suggestions. Eventually, I left and went to a Chinese store nearby. The lady helped me to pack my stuff and told me USPS will come to pick up tomorrow. I was very mad at the USPS guy. Such unprofessional and disappointing customer service for a big company. I don't pay for a company to send someone to yell at me. I don't expect him to give me helpful suggestions, but at the very minimum he should show me basic respect. If he doesn't know how to answer customers' questions properly, he should be trained better before he does this job. I have no idea why USPS hired someone like that. On several occasions I received Notification that my package was out for Delivery at 7 am in the morning , then I'll receive Notifications that my package was Delivered. I never received the package, then when I contact the Manager of the Branch , all a sudden my package shows up the next day. If it wasn't because I live in this neighborhood and "HAVE" to pick up my packages/ ship boxes thru here I wouldn't come here. How can you start in the morning working "SLOW"??? I was trying to ship a package to my parents who live in Florida. Tried to be there SUPER early before it opens. By the time I got there, there were like 10 other people waiting in line before IT OPENED!. So i'm the Client number 11..... Everyone is waiting for either shipping, Pick up packages and is all in the "SAME LINE", Another 20 minutes waiting* Once It got my turn, I Handed a small "Open" Box, to make sure the price difference with a small box and a large box. The Service lady was already arrogate with my questions and told me the prices right away, To save MY time, I decided just to ship it right away. and I told her to whatever is easiest. She gave me the "look" and told me the price, I handed my credit card to pay and she printed out the label. I forgot to bring the tape to close the box so I told her if they have any tape just to close the box, and she says "Maam, we already offer Free boxes, you should bring your TAPE to close it, not everything is free"**, then she taped my box, labeled the stamp and "DUMP" my box behind the Big basket she had. and yelled out "NEXT" I don't think I was rude to her, but I don't think we deserve this kind of treatment from them. This is the worst post office I have ever been to. Waiting time is very long most of the time. And today, I had to deal with the fat blond short-haired lady. She has no regard for customer service. No greeting. When I asked for priority mail address label, she threw it into that little place beneath the window. I thought she was having a bad day. While I was writing the address near by, she called the next customer (poor lady). The clerk said how much it was, then the customer repeated the amount (she was confirming). The clerk shouted that she should look at that credit card machine thing. She paid the money and the customer said "Sorry this is my first time here". I count on my deliveries of electronics, health and music supplies. In the last 6 months the frustration factor is beginning to outweigh the convenience and bargains because the Elmhurst USPS carriers are so bad. This is some of the delivery methods I've documented based in personal experience and neighbor eyewitness accounts: A) fill out the delivery attempt notice in the truck, slap it on the door ring bell, run away. Watch in rear view mirror as customer sprints out in bare feet only to chase the truck down the street. LOL! B) See above but don't even take the package off the truck and do NOT ring the bell. C) fill out the delivery attempt notice illegibly so it is impossible for customer to use the online "request a delivery date" function. We don't want the customer having say over when and how to receive mail. D) screw this 3 deliver attempt notice crap. Just leave a "final attempt" notice and let the jerk pick his crap up at the post office within 7 days. E) every so often don't do nothing. Send the stuff back to the vendor. Who needs this aggravation. It's not like we get paid to deliver the mail. Now, I work long hours and have a 45 minute commute. This is part of why I shop online at 10pm rather than go into stores. I can't go to my local Post Office between 8:30-5 M-F. On Saturday, I volunteer at an organization dear to my heart. Ideally, I like to sleep in a little and have coffee with my significant other before heading out. But no, I have to go to the USPS at 8:30 if I want my stuff. Having said all that, the women in the branch are so sweet, so multilingually cordial and helpful, and efficient at moving customers through, that I can't even bear to complain to them. It doesn't quite make me look forward to picking my items up but makes it somewhat less infuriating. I understand the frustration of dealing with customers who are obnoxious and clueless but not ALL customers are the same. The post office workers in this branch treat all customers as if they owe them the world. They need to understand that not everyone is well versed in the many different options and labels to fill out for their different delivery needs. They also need to understand that their customers are entrusting them with their items , many valuable, and are naturally nervous with making a mistake in the process. It was as if the main post office headquarters decided to drop their All Star Bad Customer Service Associates in this location. I've heard the staff rudely dismiss customers and make fun of them after they leave, all of which are quite unprofessional. The lines here can also be ridiculously long and slow , even for post office standards. Many times, the lines are due to customers asking questions or filling out the wrong labels, etc.. Other times, it is due to the staff making the process longer by choosing not to help the customer , but making them feel inferior with rhetorical questions. I would give the location ONE star if not for the lone bright star in this branch. Her name is Angela and she was extremely helpful, polite and pleasant. A customer was arguing with Angela because the customer could not understand the form and "did not want to fill out the label because it was too much work". She asked Angela to call over someone who spoke her language, which was Filipino. Angela politely asked her to bring back a translator and she would gladly help her. After 10 minutes of the customer asking, she finally left. Angela took the next customer with a smile and did not let the experience faze her. I really hope the other post office workers do not infect her with their hatred of their job. read more

Got a note saying I missed their delivery which was odd since I was home that day. Try calling them to see if I was able to do same day pick up or same day re delivery since the package was a wedding gift and I was leaving that night. Wasnt able to get it on the same day so I scheduled for re delivery the following monday (after the wedding). Waited all Monday from 8am to 6:30pm kept the front door open so I could see though the screen door if anyone comes. The mailman never showed up!!! Wasted a whole day waiting on a package that they didn't even attempt to deliver. Now I have to go pick it up. Hope this isn't going to be a nightmare. read more

Avoid this post office as much as you can! The lines are sooooo long, even during the middle of a weekday. Expected wait time is like 30 min. to an hour. The workers are extremely slow and will take time to do other tasks (very slowly, too) when they know a customer is waiting. There's one lady here who has such an attitude (her name might be Debbie given the reviews below, but I'm not 100% sure). She was so rude from the start and literally THREW my change at me through the little slot in the window for NO reason whatsoever. I simply paid and she just felt the need to throw my change at me. I understand that when we get bad service mostly people speak out but when no problem not a lot of them care to review it. I went to this post office around 2pm and not a lot of customer and just 4-5 people on the line. I have prepaid packages and the staff outside the window taking care of me, scan the packages and gave me the receipt. Another woman came and asked him to weight her prepaid item because she doesn't have a scale at her home. Honestly, I think its too much work because he has to bring the item inside to weight. If I was her I will go on the line, but he said ok, polite and smile to her. Its not easy to do the service job it takes a lot of patience to make everyone happy. There is a gentleman (I think he is indian) who is always in the front and helps the customers with a very polite, patient, and friendly manner. I have to agree with Allison M. - Everything she's said about this post office IS completely true. They don't ring your bell, they just stick the notice to go pick up your package. And the best thing happened recently : they left a slip with a different post office address, the one for Corona/Elmhurst, as opposed to the Elmhurst. I wasted 2 hours of my life that day between the wait for the bus and the wait at the post office only to find out that my mailman left me the address to the WRONG post office. How the hell do you do that? Also, is that lady always yelling? I've been to that post office 2x in my life and I distinctly remember a short lady, walking around yelling both times. Certified return mail system needs much improvement. Today I am going to pay this post office a visit to find hopefully some information. 1.When after the letter was not signed for or picked up,that after the 15 day period expired.That my letter was not returned to my resident.When I mailed it on the1st of December from Flushing post office.Elmhurst post office recieved the letter on Dec.2nd.Notice was left also on the second.No one signed for the letter.This is my rent money for the month of December and today is the 30th. i just don't understand why the post office workers here are so rude like the post office workers here told one guy he needed to speak english when he was just not like with perfect grammar but still she could've said "i cant hear you repeat that again" they would also be rude to me too and im just asking questions about my missing mail and the type of mails etc. not to mention i was sending bookmarks and the usps employee just bent my package and asked "wHaT iS tHiS" even if she's skeptical of what's inside she should still do the proper thing and ask instead of bending my mail!! its a good thing i packaged it well with like 5 layers of bubble wrap. my customer sent me a message saying the package was in good condition - but had i not wrapped the thin paper bookmark in bubble wrap 5 times this usps employee literally bent it like a twizzler. 12 year old me would've screamed my head off. but 20+ year old me tried to keep my composure and most importantly i just was in shock i didn't even know how to react because i have literally never seen a mail employee so what she did. the mail place i go to in manhattan never is this rude. heck i been all over from long island city to jackson heights - again all those post office employees actually service you with a smile and go OUT of their way to help. i just can't believe it like this place is the worst. so discriminatory because everytime it's the east asians that get the rude comments and belligerence and snide remarks. whatever problem they have with east asians they need to work at another location because their aggressiveness is so putrid. everytime i go there i just have a daunting feeling like what irratic behavior will i receive or witness today. its insane the anxiety i have from the negative experiences here. i dont like being here if i could move to LIC with better service i would. if Jackson Heights was closer to me i'd walk there instead. i just don't understand why the usps workers willingly choose to work here if they extremely dislike and hate the demographic here. they don't even have to go out of their way to be nice like the Manhattan LIC and Jackson Heights Usps workers but the fact that they're so rude each and every other time. i went out of my way to write this long review when i usually don't review because this isnt the first or second or third time. its repeated negative behavior. i had to say something their extremely rude and condescending behavior is eating at my tolerance and patience read more

This place is so dang small, so dang busy, and super slow! If you're simply picking up a package, fugettaboudit! They don't have a separate line for it. Expect to wait for more than 30 minutes when you're there! Most of the staff have attitudes (New York attitude, plus post office atitude: killer!) save for Angela who really lives up to her name as an "angel." Beware of the chubby, light complected woman, code name "misery", who is super rude to customers and will toss your package in front of you without any disregard for it. What a biatch! read more
