She was extremely unprofessional during our conversation and made it abundantly clear nothing was ever going to be done (inspite of being notified of the felony). There were also other people at their office who had recently had mail marked as delivered, but never received. This a very serious situation and I'm doing everything I can to warn people. If I could give negative stars I would. Had a package that was supposed to be delivered today. Took off work so I can be here because the package required a signature. These idiots showed up and left a notice, never ringing the doorbell. Got an email notification 15min later that they left a notice because no one signed for the packages. Only for the woman behind the counter to tell me ~they don't do that anymore~ and I should wait on line for the machine where i can do it myself (even though it doesn't result in the same thing - it still won't show that it's in the USPS system, only that you scanned it at a kiosk) In any case, i realize the USPS doesn't NEED to actually care about providing decent customer service but this was just rude. Last year 2023 I have over 15 package lost and nothing was done to fix this problem !There best solution was FILE A CLAIM! Which I'm sick and tired of filling! If I could give this post office a minus rating I would. I had scheduled an appointment for passport services at 12:30pm, and arrived waiting by the passport window at 12:20pm. I waited until 12:35pm, only to be told that I would have to wait until 1:15pm as the agent was on her lunch break. WHAT IS THE POINT OF AN APPOINTMENT IF IT WON'T BE HONORED? This post office is always a shitshow. Though not as bad as some of the ones I have experienced in the Bronx. There is always a huge line and only a few windows open. The line to pick up packages can be very chaotic with no system whatsoever in place. It's come to the point where I would get Amazon packages sent to the locker at the 711 instead of to my address and risking it being sent through the post office and then having to go pick it up. One thing that is really not the post office fault is that there are a lot of people sending packages overseas so it's a bit more time consuming to process. I wish they would have express counter for package drop offs like UPS and Fedex has. I'm sure there are a lot of people who just want to drop off a prepaid package and end up in line as the people who need more service. read more

But a USPS supervisor reported on Aug. 18 that 759 pieces of mail addressed to Woodside residents had been recovered from a trash bin. The Woodside PO doesn't answer their phone, making redelivery arrangement difficult for those with a job. You then arrive to 6 open windows with 3 staffers doing other things than helping the ever-increasing line. They apparently recently changed their hours, but you wouldn't know if from the door outside, or the line inside, which forms before the posted time. They also take people completely out of order, especially at the door on the left. It's a shame the local carrier is just as incompetent and can't read instructions on our parcels, forcing us to trek here, which is much farther from our home than other POs. They also take their sweet time with the omnipresent long lines, making doing aything in person a frustrating test of patience. read more

Which is fine, I mean you expect a wait at the post office, but this wait dragged on and on and on in an interminable saga of doom. 45 minutes to pickup a package. To say nothing of the people. I'm not sure if the US post office only hires the most surely, angry, miserable excuses for people, but it sure seems like it. Everyone here sounds like they hate their job with the furious passion of a thousand burning suns. Getting mail properly delivered with this is your post office is literally impossible. If there was one word to describe this Post Office it would be busy. There are usually long lines to see someone at the window. Thankfully they have an automated machine that sells stamps and even helps you with packages. There are usually no lines to use the automated machine so that's what I usually settle for, unless there is a specific reason that I need to wait for a window. On those occasions where i've had to interact with a window person i've always found them to be friendly and helpful. I wonder if the delivery people here even try to deliver packages. I've been waiting with my doorbell by my window all day for a box of cremains to be delivered and instead I get an attempt to deliver notice. My family is already griefstricken and now we're left wondering if our loved one will even be delivered because the delivery person didnt even ring our bell or knock on our opened door. Horrible! I've been stuck going to this one a couple of times. I sell a hand-made item online and have used ONLY USPS since I started my online store 5 years ago. Typically, I sell one item at a time to an individual. I package the item in a piece of butcher paper, print out a packing sheet and place ONLY those things in one of the 6" x 9.25" bubble mailers. I've sent out 393 of this exact packing from one online sales arena, another 267 from another NOT including the sales from my website. This package weighs 2.8 ounces, and at EVERY post office from New Jersey to Maine it has cost $2.67 to ship ANYWHERE from California to down the block from where I may ship it from. Today I get the pleasure of being near this place again in woodside New York: I was on line for like 12 seconds! GREAT! But that's where the fun stopped. I walk up to the window, place 3 of the aforementioned packages in the cubby, close the door, slide over to the pay slot and say, "hi, how are you doing today?" (I have had this teller before, she's guarded and seams to want to just mull through customers.) This gem ignores my comment... apparently it's not her day after having yesterday off. ( I however haven't had a day off since last Tuesday, and worked 24 hours between Sunday morning at 11am until last night at 10:30pm I then ask her to send these envelops first-class parcel, she asks the standard "what's inside" question and I hit the red button on the little screen. She asks about insurance and blah-blah, I reply, "No thanks!" Then I see the screen pop up with $3... I say out loud, "Do you think your scale needs to be recalculated?" She rolls her eyes and keeps working. I exclaim that I've sent a few hundred of these and it costs $2.67 More eye roll, and she says. "This weighs 2.8 ounces" After she does the other two, she asks about stamps and stuff which I don't need right now, and she says "$9." I asked again about the scale and she is visibly bothered. I relay the message with a desire that she knows I'm not trying to ruin her day. I then ask her if she will recalibrate the scale. She says, AFTER I LEAVE, I reply, "do you mean after I pay you MORE to ship these?" She then decides to bring one of the packages to the clerk next to her. I ask her what the other clerks scale said, and she replied, "$3!" That's when I realized that this place must be over charging EVERYONE to ship, mine was a few cents more BUT what if I was shipping pounds or over-seas? Absolutely should shut this place down, you can't cry that you're losing business yet treat people like this. BUYER BEWARE! read more

I am a business customer and this post office is by far the worst i've ever had to deal with. Our deliveries never come DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS. We get notifications, after WE have to look at the tracking, saying "business was closed". Yes that's because we don't work 24/7. I can clearly see, through THIS office, why the USPS is suffering. There is NO customer care or service. You have to jump through hoops to actually get an answer, and by then your package has been delivered...a week later. Do yourself a favor, use UPS, FEDEX..heck even DHL if you have to. **UPDATE 2018** This post office is epitome of a broken system. Although when at the actual office, the people can be sort of helpful, there is still a chain that connects it all. The deliveries and drivers are the BROKEN link in the chain. This review is for their passport services: I initially was going to go to a different post office but found out I would need an appointment and here I could just walk-in. (My first passport) I went in and there was a large throng of people but I inquired with a relatively friendly woman about the passport and was given a number. I ended up being seen within 5 minutes by the very helpful passport employee. She was kind and did not rush me (even though there were many others behind me). I had taken the picture myself and thought it was okay but she right away it was not good enough and said we could take one their for $15. I did and it was worth it as I didn't need to come back and the quality was superior by far. She then processed the papers quickly and had me on my way! It was very efficient and pleasant. A perfect experience for me, well deserving of 5 stars. I'm sorry to see all these negative reviews for this PO. Also the lines for mail were short/non-existent. read more

I visited this office to apply for a new passport. I arrived at 10:30 am, thirty minutes after the passport window opened. I was given ticket #15 and instructed to wait across the building in the post office box room. There were no seats available and the room was very warm. The line moved very slowly, and by 12:15 pm they were on #13 after a few people left and were not called. Clearly they would benefit from having more than one employee processing passports. There were minimal lines all morning for other mail services, but the passport line just kept getting longer. Overall it was a very exhausting and lengthy process. It seemed like many people were not prepared when they approached the window. If someone was in the lobby helping everyone complete their forms the wait time might also decrease. read more

This is quite honestly the worst post office I've ever been to. The hardworking people of this neighborhood deserve much better. Yes there are a lot of immigrants in this neighborhood who need to get their citizenships. And just because they speak English as a second language doesn't give this post office a right for the employees to treat the customers so poorly. I witnessed a poor girl get yelled at and reprimanded for asking a simple question. I felt the embarrassment for her. This is quite frankly an embarrassing sign of how a government organized monopoly is run. They are extremely understaffed here and a sign of poor management is present based on the way employees treat the customers. It's very busy at this PO. Avoid this branch like the plague. I've been to several branches in Brooklyn and never has a customer service representative talked to me in such an offensive, condescending matter. Absolutely Terrible. You have a better chance of Kevin Costner delivering your package after an apocalypse.. This post office routinely leaves "recipient not home" notices on the door of my building while me and/or my wife are home during the time of delivery attempt. On two occasions they delivered my packages to a different apt#. And if you have to call this USPS branch, you may as well consider your package lost, because they will not answer the phones. With well over a dozen delivery problems, they have never answered the phone, not even once. It rings and rings until you get a never ending tone and chirping sounds. Update: They did it again! This time with a Priority 1-Day package that I paid $22 to receive in 1 day. They did not even attempt to deliver. Now they just mark everything "Undeliverable as addressed" and try to make you come pick it up. I double checked my shipping address from the vender's Shipping confirmation email and it is correct. This is the second time they've done this in 2 weeks... Update: It's now October 30th and I still don't have this Priority 1-day package, or the standard service package from the week before. Tracking hasn't updated since the 22nd. I now have a claim with USPS Customer Claims Department. After explaining the problem to them, and waiting another 4 days, there response is "We emailed them and are waiting for a response. We haven't been able to reach them by phone." To which I said: "You don't say..." Update 3/18/16: Yet another package (Priority 1-Day service from my sister) failed to be delivered yesterday. I was home the entire day, didn't leave the house a single time, and no one ever buzzed the building entry door or my apartment door. Tracking says that they left a note (they didn't) and that there is nowhere secure to leave the package (there is). They didn't even try to re-deliver today, just left it sitting at the post office trying to make me come get it. This is New York, I don't have a car.. Do the job you were pre-paid to do. Terrible. The delivery service is dreadful: 1. They don't even attempt to bring boxes to your home and instead always dump a slip in your mailbox (requiring a nearly mile walk each way to the office, standing in a long line, and them being unable to find your package about 1/3 of the time). And, they lie about having tried to bring it to your home (someone is ALWAYS home at my apartment). 2. Our building's box - which is outside the building - is regularly left unlocked and open. 3. Because of #2, we discovered the outgoing mail wasn't being picked up by our mail carrier (so that's why we didn't get a new Netflix for two weeks!) I've called the local office. I've emailed the federal offices. I get nice phone calls (that always pass the buck on fault) back from them, but the issues have never been resolved. The post office itself is just as bad. It's overcrowded and, like every office in the country, there are never more than two clerks serving the public. Plus, they're surly (and not just NYC surly - like, really-really SURLY). read more

Really don't understand all of the negative reviews, but hey - guess you can't please everyone. This has been my post office on and off for over 20 years now. I've moved back to Woodside about 4 times and have never had a package go missing or see a severe slow down in my mail being delivered. The worst part about this post office is the customers. Most people don't like to read instructions. I get it - words are hard, but please try not to yell at the lady half your size when she tries to explain to you that you don't have enough forms of ID for a passport. Seriously. I can't believe the flack the employees here put up with. People are ridiculous. Avoid the actual branch if possible, you'll lose faith in humanity. If you must, go as early as possible. I was fortunate to find a new postal delivery man named Timothy who was extremely deligent in his job only to find out he was removed from my route on 57th Street .My question is why? Timothy should be restored immediately because now noone is getting their mail .Is this how the postal service rewards a great worker by removing and transferring them. This place needs to fire all of the current staff, especially the management, and get a new group in there that actually CARES to do a good job. Go online and complain or call 311. So many people standing in long lines to get mail. Not just packages but actual mail that isn't delivered, it's ridiculous. You can complain online through USPS.com and select 'Help', select 'Postal Facility' and if you're lucky, the site will work. Otherwise, call 311 in NYC. The labels are confusing and nobody seems to tell you what tape you need to use or if the label you just printed is the right one for your package. The staff was inattentive and unwilling to help. Thankfully I only had to go once during the year I lived in Queens. SO... Redelivery ALWAYS manages to get screwed up somehow, and again, when you try to get it in person (rude staff &) they can't seem to find your packages...
