I will never use this post office again. I mailed a check using the blue box out front. The mail was white washed and deposited multiple times to different names and bank accounts. I now have to deal with the hassle of shutting down my accounts. I wouldn't be surprised if this an inside job. read more

Usups is good when they can put small packages in the mailbox. When they don't along with Big packages they leave it in front of the mailbox and apartment walk ups do not have lobbies. there is just the front door, mail area (you know stand up shower size space) and then the door that is access to the apartments and you need access for that(buzzers are in the mail area for entry). So instead of bringing the package up to the correct floor or at least the second floor and not on the ground floor we wouldn't be getting our packages stolen. Yes sadly and originally you are not obligated to so but, it would be nice if the whole company understood that to do a splendid job( said by all your customers)and would be appreciated if as said to bring the packages upstairs instead if having to worry if the package was stolen or not after delievery. My package was small an ornament was in it and it was returned a couple of times to you guys and never arrived officially. I had to get a refund from etsy. This easily could have gone into the mailbox. I have pillows coming too and idk if they will be abandoned because one of the delivery guys may leave it in the mail area or downstairs where it can be easily taken and that's not a job well done. read more

Have used this location for a number of years now because it's on my way to work. The place looks like your average USPS office, semi dirty, not really bright, display cases with for sale packing supplies that lok like have been there for 2 decades and a bunch of teller windows but only 5% of them are manned. When I finally searched them up on here and saw their overall rating, I LOLed and said "yeah, that's about right!" I am giving them a 2.4 Yes, a 2 point four stars. I won't give them a point 5 cuz that'd mean 'd have to round off to a 3. And, I am not giving them a 1 cuz I have had good interactions there. The dude that was there two days ago needs a little attitude adjustment (It was 5 mins after they opened!) read more

USPS does not deliver any mail to my address. My credit card is lost due to them not delivering anything. Additionally, everything I order if using USPS it does not get delivered. Horrible service, no one to speak to, avoid this location. read more

I had a bad experience. My two best friends sent me birthday cards and both were stolen. It's a shame that some workers are stealing from their customers. These are the people that deliver the mail. I never had an issue with the ladies at the window. Every post office has a long line however, that's inevitable. 3011 21st St Ste A, Astoria, NY 11102 read more

Rude rude rude. I had three large fragile packages and the teller demanded I shove them all in the window at once for him to weigh. They didn't fit and he argued with me about it. Then, he argued with me about shipping and postage prices. Besides the fact, one week before Christmas, with a line out the door, they only had this one surly man working. Terrible. Don't make this your go-to post office, you'll be there forever. read more

Is it a requirement for postal service workers to be nasty? Like without a doubt no matter the location, they have attitudes and are rude. Today, I was trying to send over my passport renewal form and one lady gave me the wrong address to send it to and gave me dirty look for asking questions. Thankfully one lady redeemed the place by being so sweet, I wish I knew her name. A new lady came and told her to leave before the nice lady could help me smh. read more

As a lazy millennial I haven't been to a post office in a long time and was overwhelmed to send out two packages, one domestic and the other international. Overall, this post office served me well and I was able to find my way without much stress. Lines moved fast (probably because I was there in the middle of the day on a weekday) and staff was willing to help out if I asked any question. One thing that kind of felt off - they have packaging tapes on display and they aren't even for sale. I know post office decided not to let customers use tools like tapes and scissors years ago, but I think it's a little mean that they make it obvious that they have the tools but is not even willing to sell them to the customers... read more

FYI Priority Mail is not a guaranteed service, so don't expect your package to be delivered on time. They can only give you the expected delivery date which is always later! What's the point then when you can ship anything first-class and it will get there the same day for less? Beware of this gimmick from USPS. BTW, the teller at this post office (not the Korean lady) was nice and very helpful. They should have the APC open 24/7 though. Perhaps, they are afraid of those bums outside by the Amtrack bridge moving in. LOL read more

US Post Office - Huge line on Saturday morning. - Post Offices Near Me - Astoria, New York

The biggest attitude you will ever get here. My first and last trip here for sure. I was standing in line and one of the clerks just kept ringing the bell (she had just come to the window, and that particular window happened to be on the far end/opposite side, therefore I couldn't quite see what she was doing) She exasperated proceded to yell something that I couldn't understand to what seemed to be another coworker. She came back again and incessantly rang her bell again. I HAD WALKED UP AND SAID, "are you open?" She ignored me and proceeded to leave and then came back AGAIN. I finally walked up again and asked if she was open. She said, "I have been open!" I told her how I wasn't aware and that all she needed to do was just tell NEXT or something. She then proceeded to tell me how I didn't ask her anything and that she didn't care what I had to say. WOW. seriously? If you hate your life so much that you need to carry around such awfully negative energy, I feel sorry for you as a human being. I left and was placing my stamps on my cards when she came out and said I shortened her $0.05. I reached into my pocket and gave her the money as she proceeds it to scoff at me, yank it out of my hand and slam the door behind her. I have never seen such awful, disgraceful service. What's next? Spit in my face. I wasn't nasty to her and didn't say anything other than the fact I didn't know she was open and that she could have just said NEXT to make it known. This incident with me happened right as another lady had asked another clerk a question about the delivery of her package, as another bout of attitudes lashed out and another unpleasant exchange took place. Ironically, as I was walking out I asked a man who was walking thru the employee entrance if he was the supervisor here. He sheepishly replied with a "Not yet!" When I briefly explained to him what had happened and why I asked, he apologized as courteously as possible and said that's it's "nothing new here." Such a shame. I had just walked out of my place earlier in the day and had a friendly exchange with the mail carrier. While doing a tougher job as a whole, mail carrier are usually much more friendly, personable and not complete assholes like the counter clerks from today. Also, as a resident of Ditmars, I am deeply saddened by such low vibrations and frequency that are put out into the universe by the poor souls at this establishment. read more

Horrible Service. The manger is never there. The manager's office has a removed name plate. No employee wears a name plate. I asked to file a complaint because the employee was beyond rude, and I was told to go online. FYI there is no place you can complain about a postmaster or other post office employees. You can only file complaints associated with mail fraud and such. Such a shame that federal employees can be little its customers and can do it with zero reprucussions . I bought a set of forever stamps at the self-machine for my Hannukah holiday cards. I was not given a choice of stamp, and the stamps that came out were Santa stamps. No big deal, I thought. I'll just stand in the long-line to speak with someone at the window and swap them out for something generic as I have my receipt in hand. The postal service worker in the very right hand window not only had a poor attitude before I finished my first sentence, but shamed me for not celebrating Christmas. It was bigoted and made me feel so small in this world that is already rife with rising anti-semitism. She could have explained to me in a calm and kind manner that she's unable to help change a stamp from a machine, but instead she shamed me for being Jewish. I'm disgusted, appalled and sadly not surprised. Do better USPS. read more

This post office is not helpful. I use the self service kiosk to handle all postage however, if you need to ship packages, they will refuse stating they don't have the manpower to handle 12 priority mail flat rate packages. I ask which post office will accept my packages that all have postage paid online and all the correct shipment labels that was approced online through USPS. The woman at the counter could not answer my questsion so I have to call USPS at multiple locations. Either the phone number listed on the wevsite does not work or the line is busy. This is the designated post office so I've experienced missing packages even though it states online it was delivered but I made sure I was home all day because the sender explained the package would arrive that day. Furthermore, my residence is eligible for package pickup and make adequate requests ahead of time. So, it is approved by USPS however, I receive no notification if it was rejected and not picked up. I call USPS and they said it was supposed to be picked up and it didn't happen. This makes me wonder how they turn a profit... I pay $200 worth of shipment and as a service, the agency is supposed to deliver. I am told on the phone I cannot receive a refund but they provide me incorrect information when I go to the post office in person, they tell me something different. read more

This is the worst post office terrible and very very rude customer service . I hope they shut down .

People are being punished at this post office location, as they are subject to long lines, bad customer service, and poor organization as the layout is not friendly. Its located in a murky part of the 31st / Ditmars area, about as dark and clamy as they come. None of my visits here have resulted in a big smile on my face, any post office in Manhattan has to be better than this one. They need customer service training here and need to hire to combat the crazy demand for this office. Its a shame really, as I've been told they are one of the "hub" stations for the LIC / Astoria region. Just great. read more

Disclaimer: I am not entitled. I know that everyone is doing their best (me included!) and no one else's life revolves around mine. I went to this post office and I mailed a care package to an Asian friend who is homebound due to pandemic related hate crimes. I was able to ship a brilliant book by Octavia Butler and bags of Haribo gummy bears using this branch of the post office. The overworked and underpaid staff wasn't a vehicle for my personal frustrations because I am thankfully in therapy, rather they just helped me ship my surprise box for a pennies. I don't know how the post office makes any money providing this public good but I'm glad they are still still out here doing their thing! 5 STARS!! read more

This Post Office gets one rating for convenience of location and its name. However, since moving to Astoria I've seen the rapid decline of this Post Office. The old-timers were very professional at their job and even assisted their customers when needed. But, as one would have it, when they retired, they hired a bunch of people who are unprofessional, uncaring and bigoted. Numerous comments were made about my race and ethnicity. Has the staff looked in the mirror lately?! After having mail stolen from my apartment, I signed up to have a PO Box. After paying an exorbitant amount, I assumed I was safe. But as luck would have it, they started putting the wrong PO Box numbers on my packages and they wind up losing them. Use this Post Office only one essential, but otherwise there are other locations far better than this. Truly, I am surprised this place hasn't been shut down sooner. read more

This post office is closer to me than my official post office. One bit of trivia: the building used to be a Greek movie theater. The space is small, at least for customers. I'm guessing that there is much more space behind the counters. I've been here to purchase stamps or to send packages. Generally the service is adequate. Sometimes I've had great people behind the counter, sometimes bad, but most were average. read more

Wait time: 5 Service: 5 Price: 0 Overall: 5 My situation seems to be the anomaly of all of these reviews. Thank God! I went in today to return a package to Missguided (Btw, don't shop there. Actually, do what you like). For starters, there were three clerks, so the line moved quickly. I think I waited three minutes tops. The young man that I was dealing with was very pleasant. He gave me free tape. Tape should be free anyway. My transaction was smooth and probably lasted five minutes tops. I have nothing to complain about but the shipping prices, which the branch does not create. For this reason, I didn't add it in my overall rating. read more

US Post Office - Short lines are always clutch! - Post Offices Near Me - Astoria, New York

Awful!!! I paid $75 for a package to be delivered to Greece. I was told that it would arrive in 15 days. 3 months went by & it was never received. Finally, it came back to me with the box ripped on both ends & the box very banged up & squished. The reason I sent this package is because I was sending Barbie Dolls & an American Girl doll to a poor village girl in greece who doesn't have any toys. And I had made her a promise at the end of this past summer that I would send her the dolls. I spent a lot of money on the dolls & $75 more on the shipping. I brought back the box to the post office with my receipt so that I can resend it to another nearby address. I was told that I would have to REPAY the shipping. This is Ridiculous! I explained the story to them & told them that I would like to get them in time for this girl to have by Christmas. They told me they the US post office is not responsible & this probably happened in greece, therefore I would have the full $75 again. So I left & I did not send because I cannot pay this price again. This is not right. My package & my money went to the US post office .... Not greece. And it's also possible that was box was ripped open in the US .....isn't that possible! The US took the money w a guarantee of arrival within 15 days therefore u r responsible. And I didn't ask for my money back ..... I asked to resend & they said I couldn't. This is ludicrous & theft!! And thanks to the rip-off US Post office, this poor girl won't get the dolls for Christmas & I broke my promise to her. I was completely ripped off. This place has no common sense, no structure & is under very poor management! read more

Long lines and there is an older African American woman that is particularly rude. I try to avoid this place at all costs. I even often opt for UPS instead. Also, the new blue mail boxes with the slots are ridiculous. They make it so you have to go to the post office to mail anything more than a letter which drives up lines and traffic at the PO. Yep. I did make a federal case out of it. I know it's been years, but talking to the supervisor on the in DC and explaining my situation with my service dog. Yes, my service dog was small and it was train for epilepsy and PTSD. However, just having the woman on the phone assure me that repeatedly calling me "babe" and backing up his employee that "I did not look disabled and the service dog didn't look like a service dog", but his wife was disabled or some such thing so "he would know" and I couldn't bring the dog in there. Well, at that time, I couldn't go that far without my service animal safely. I had breakthrough seizures while they were adjusting my meds, which I didn't say, plus any number of things could trigger my PTSD because I had nearly been beaten to death in a hate crime...which is why I had the epilepsy and PTSD. I didn't need this from a PO employee. So her response of, "I KNOW he didn't." And let's get him on the phone right now. She fixed the issue. Now it took a while to circumnavigate where to go to get in touch with the right Dept. Fresh assault did not work in my favor. So this is looking back. But yeah, there are bigots everywhere. But there are usually more powerful people to keep them in check. Excluding the Executive Branch of our Government at this time. Just don't pick fights with that Billy. Avoid on a one on one basis. This place will have you rooting for the demise of the United States Postal Service within seconds of your arrival. The Astoria US Post Office has been struggling to provide a decent quality of service for several years now. The lines remain consistently long, however they are actively taking steps at this location to improve the overall quality of service here. An example of one of the more effective steps taken is that, periodically, a Post Office employee will stand around the line to ask and ensure people are in the right places/lines for whatever task they're trying to execute. Generally speaking, any steps toward the overall organization and efficiency of service will greatly help to better this business. read more

Can I give something 0 stars? Because whoo boy, does this post office stink. I avoid it at all costs, and when I have to mail stuff out that I can't toss in a mailbox, I go to the Post Office on 23rd in Manhattan. But when I get one of those orange postcards saying that I have a package waiting for me, I must reluctantly venture in. The lines are always super long despite what time of day you go, there's never enough staff to keep up, the self-service machine never seems to work, and they arbitrarily decide whether or not to have a special line just for those orange postcard pickups. Once, when I got to the counter with an orange postcard, the clerk said to me, "you were supposed to go over there to pick up your package! Didn't you hear? You gotta get in the other line!" I hadn't heard (I was reading a magazine, and since they're behind bulletproof glass, I could barely hear standing right there), and so I actually pretended I was deaf. I can't believe I did it, but yes folks, I faked deafness so I wouldn't have to wait in another line in this soul-sucking post office. Karma's gonna get me for that one. Oh, the Woosley post office. I have spent many hours of my life waiting in lines here. They are terribly under-staffed here. The lines go out the door at peak times, which in my experience is right when it opens at 9, around lunch, and then right before it closes at 5. The tellers are nice. Don't hate on the tellers. I have seen so many people scream and curse at the tellers, making a huge scene at the post office. It's not their fault that your packages aren't there yet or whatever else makes people so upset at the post office. The tellers do their best given the circumstances, helping people as nicely and efficiently as possible. BUT don't bother trying to call them on the phone with questions. They have no patience and are not helpful. Every time I've called I've just hung up more frustrated. read more

I have lived in this neighborhood for 35 years, this post office was my go to because its so close to my home. But that is no longer the case. I was hesitant to write this review because yes they are essential workers. But that is no excuse for the extreme rudeness by employees in this office. So disgraceful. You are a civil servant and act like you are the warden in a third world prison. If you ask a teller a question the response may be rolling her eyes, ignoring you or just speaking loudly and extreme rude tone. I now drive to the 21 street post office as opposed to walking to this one. I highly recommend just going to another post office not worth the headache to go to this one. Unfortunately filing a complaint is difficult, as the oversight of the post office only deals with issues of fraud etc. I just hope someone sees this and forces this bunch to take a course in customer service. read more
