Came here around 4:30 on a weekday to drop if a prepaid package that I was shipping. There's usually always a line so if you need servicing be prepared to wait for a while. They have a drop off machine where you can scan your package so you don't have to wait. It usually prints receipts but be careful if they run out of paper. The workers are not much help unless you wait in line for your turn. read more

I won't knock this post office in Sunnyside cause I actually got a hello and have a nice day from the friendly post clerk lady who made me 3 money orders and got me a roll of forever stamps with different sports legends . No one on line expect me , self service machine is available but limited in service and the forms and other postal supplies were in good supply and easy to find . It's not always a good experience when going to the post office but on a Saturday morning in Sunnyside it was good for me and I still can't believe I got a hello and have a nice day without any hesitation. 3.5 stars on my yelp meter . read more

This is the worse post office I've ever been to. The self service station always seems to be down and the lines are always long with only two people operating the windows. Once you get to the window, most of the time the person is very rude. If you hate dealing with people so much, you are working in the wrong profession. Maybe consider keeping the self service station fully operational or adding additional self service stations. Don't go here if you don't have to. read more

Raj was extremely helpful in explaining why my mother-in-law's priority mail package was not delivered yesterday with a "notice" stating "no secure location." She did not find a note. We called from California for a explanation. He searched the tracking number. He calmly explained possible reasons the delivery person did not place the package in the apartment foyer where dozen of packages are left daily. Normally you would get ignored and treated disrespectfully by other Post Office workers but that did not happen with Raz. He helped me with what I needed and managed help me out greatly by taking my package that was already paid for Even with time constraint. I cannot believe we allow the behaviors and attitudes many of these post office workers throw at us. I understand that customer service roles are very challenging and people on the other side also need to check themselves but WOW, I'm amazed. The usual front clerks at this post office are pretty nice but the ones that come visit every now and then are absolutely rude and unprofessional. I've seen one clerk yell at someone b/c they needed help at the kiosk and after giggling with a co-worker, sauntered their way over there to begrudgingly help. The problematic ones have an air of arrogance like an NYC bouncer and the patience and care of a DMV worker. Yeah, I said it. In my case, I've been on the crappy end of the supervisors' behavior. If you have issues with undeliverable mail, gooooood luck, b/c they have no idea how to help. B/c I just moved to a new address, I've been having issues with getting some mail (junk mail, previous tenant's mail, etc.) but not critical ones (checks, DMV license, tax forms). I've spoken to 2 supervisors (Miss Denise and an Asian woman), one said would call me daily to give me an update (never happened and never heard from again) and the most recent one accused me of calling several times (good to know she's screening my calls) even though she told me the answer. Note, she's never told me the answer, which is why I was calling several times. The Asian woman was incredibly rude, was unclear with how to resolve, and even closed the door in my face. How are there no repercussions for this type of behavior? They lack empathy, basic customer service skills, and the absolute arrogance in their tone is unwarranted. read more

However, after calling USPS on the phone, was told that's not necessary. Mei, however insisted on it, and even scoffed - SCOFFED - at me when I told her that I had a copy of my sublease on my phone. I have mixed feelings about this post office. There are times I love it and other times I don't, but if it wasn't here I would be miserable. I have been coming here forever. It has never changed except that it has more cracks here there and its obvious its in need of a face lift. When you first walk in, you get hit with this really grungy institutional feel and postal workers are working behind what I assumed to be bullet proof glass. I find that when coming to the post office you have to go with a mindset of being really patient and ready to wait. It can get very busy here with long lines depending on the time of day. I went to the post office last week to pick up a package and it was very busy. I really try not to go during lunch time or after 3:00p. I think that's when the lines gets really long. I feel that generally everyone who works at the post office is helpful and friendly. read more

This sounds strange, but I'm proud that Sunnyside has it's very own post office, located in the heart of the neighborhood. Since LIC / Astoria / Maspeth / Sunnyside are all within subway stops of each other, the area's borders become a little bit more murky. With a centralized post office, there is no mistake of which neighborhood of Queens Blvd and 40s is located in. Not much can be said about the building. Like many post offices, it's not very noticeable and the parking is terrible. Service is suspect at times and given the size of this place, holiday lines must be a nightmare. Another thing I'm not a fan of is the fact they close till 5PM every weekday. If only they were open an hour later like some other branches, I might still be able to visit the place to send a package off in time. Something that might be of use to folks, is this Post Office happens to be one of the few that can assist with Passport Applications. Just make sure you have a your photos taken (expensive to do it here) and your info filled out to start the process. read more

I called USPS as my request for pick up of an Etsy package did not happen. Why even have a pick-up request, if the USPS is unreliable in picking the mail up? On January 14, 2022. I was told at the Sunnyside Denver, CO 80211 that the carrier was on vacation. (I guess he was on vacation three weeks before that as all my mail arrived for this period in one delivery.) She said if I wanted better mail delivery, I could find USPS carriers. She said the carrier was on vacation. In one month, the mail has been delivered once. Extremely rude and unprofessional. I WAS NOT rude to her. I guess when you work for the union, you do not have to be nice, you can insult people without any repercussions, and you do not have to deliver the mail. I do not have problems with UPS, Amazon, or Fed EX. There was one excuse after another. When I went to the USPS, NO CARRIER JOBS were listed. read more

Dropping off my package with my pre printed label was quick and easy. Though I do have to say the self kiosk vs the window scales are slightly off. While I am glad this outpost of the USPS exists, I feel pretty neutrally about it. As a post office, I've definitely encountered more cheerful and better appointed locations, but as a general government-citizen bureaucratic entity, it's neutral. I've truly had better experiences at NYC's Department of Motor Vehicles or with NYC's parking ticket dispute website. There's nothing fancy about this post office, and the location is convenient for me. I've also found that most of the clerks are pretty friendly here, and that at lunchtime there's inevitably a long line with at LEAST one extremely crotchety person grumbling about 1) how long it's taking and 2) people not speaking English. Sometimes I will give this person a piece of my mind, but mostly I just SMH because... go live somewhere else if you don't like being in the most diverse county in the entire country. I have many more things to say about these grumblers, but I'll take it offline :-). Anyway, besides the long lines and the somewhat slow service, this post office is functional. And, the postal carriers based out of this office are incredibly friendly and great parts of the neighborhood. But as for this office itself, they are often out of the envelopes that I need and do not have a great selection of boxes/shipping supplies to choose from. This post office has been improved since the first time I used since I moved to Sunnyside many years ago. So far they haven't lost my packages and they're helpful and friendly. For us who use them very regularly (we even have a mailbox there), I'm glad to say it's not bad. The staff May/Mae is pretty sharp and things are always under control when she's taking care of our business. Others are not bad too. The service isn't always that that slow. Sometimes customers keep the line also. It could be both. read more

Turns out you apply with a regular teller who allots his/her time to help you out. You can pay their fees with personal checks, money orders or debit cards. They are the most incompetent bunch of idiots ever. Two times I overnighted Avery important medication to a woman in Florida who needed it . The first time they sent it to California , on an overnight that cost me $100, it was delivered approximately 2 weeks late . The second time I explained to the employee behind the glass what happened the first time, she assured me it wouldn't happened again and the package never showed up again . This is medication people not a happy birthday card. The woman ended up in the hospital both times. Okay look, I don't go around writing one star reviews on post offices. But this time I am. I mail out small paper items that I can just throw in a drop box on my way to work, those are items that a customer paid for and they consistently. get. lost. The first time it happened, fine, but it kept happening. To make matters worse, the tracking doesn't update a SINGLE TIME from when I print out the label to when it reaches its destination. No notification of pickup or scanning, which as a seller makes me look terrible. A birthday card was sent to me from the next state over, and two weeks later it arrived, postmarked two weeks prior. What was it doing that entire time? A box of donation clothes I had sent away, never reached its destination. Where did it go? Ive gone in there looking for packages after getting a pink slip (even though I had been sitting inside on the other side of the wall, seeing the mailman come, with no notification), and they haven't been there. I don't have a problem with this post office at all, and actually think it's one of the better run branches in NYC. The workers are incredibly friendly, nice, and good at their jobs. I also think they strike a good balance between spending enough time with each customer while also making sure things move along at a reasonable rate. My main gripe is actually with my fellow post office goers (yes, you, my neighbors who are reading this!!). No one likes to stand in line at the post office, so let's not make it more unpleasant than it already is. The US mail system can be confusing and they handle a wide variety of situations, so there are bound to be questions and people who take more time at the window than others. Yes, there are older folks, folks who don't speak English, disabled or mentally ill folks, etc. who all use the post office too. I am really sick of seeing fellow customers bringing bad juju to this enclosed space by rolling their eyes, sighing loudly, dramatically gesturing in exasperation and generally having a bad attitude just because they feel they are being inconvenienced by someone who needs a little extra help at the window. Please let's just have a little more compassion and baseline courtesy for one another, and maybe going to the post office can be a less painful experience for all of us! read more

All I have to say is that if you live on 46Street between Skillmam. & 43Ave and are expecting a package from the carrier doing the route, you should say a pray because she is THE WORST, leaving packages on floors, wrong side of building & even delivering packages to wrong buildings on block. MANY were lost already that says they were delivered on website, but were never received by tenants in these bldgs. . Numerous complaints have been made by numerous people and the problem has not been rectified at all by Postal Mgt. Shame on them. read more

What really ticks me off about this post office is the HOURS. They close at 5PM on weekdays and I think 1PM on Saturday. When is a working person supposed to go? I almost always ended up going to Maspeth or Astoria for my postal needs :( The post office is very tiny, and there is a nice TV to watch while you are in line. I see I'm just adding on to the terrible reviews for this post office location... and they honestly deserve it. Here's a list of the gems I've had to deal with... The staff have always been rude when I've gone there. I always feel like I'm walking on egg shells when I have to deal with them. I saw someone get yelled at for asking a question, and the next time I was there, someone who didn't speak English well was berated in front of everyone. It's not okay. At all. I don't buy stamps or send packages from there anymore - I go to the location near my work instead, as it's just slightly better. I think they also either store the mail or just neglect to deliver everything when it should be delivered. I constantly get things later than they should arrive. There are periods of several days when I mysteriously don't get any mail at all (not even those annoying ads), and then suddenly get all of my mail in one day that week. It's really strange. I've also had things jammed into my mailbox (which is not that tiny) several times now, to the point where I couldn't get my mail out and had to sit there, carefully maneuvering and pulling each piece out. Probably a symptom of mail piling up at their office and not being delivered on time... and also most likely incompetence. I've had things that clearly shouldn't go in my mailbox (including publications that say "do not bend") jammed in there instead of left out with the packages. And not just publications being bent, but envelopes completely crumpled and crushed, important letters and documents ruined. I've filed complaints with them more than once. Ahh and another great gem. About a year ago, my mail disappeared after I stopped delivery for 2 weeks of travel. They claim it was delivered as scheduled when my delivery was reinstated... it wasn't. I never got it. And now, to continue their winning streak, I'm having trouble getting a certified letter re-delivered. They left a slip last week, I scheduled a re-delivery and asked for it to be left in my mailbox. I just got another slip for the same letter with the same tracking number that claims that their office received it just today and tried to deliver it to me today for the first time. No acknowledgement of my request and a complete lie that the letter just got to them today. I've asked for re-delivery AGAIN. Third time's the charm, I hope? read more

I am indifferent regarding the service of the post office itself as it is pretty much the same as any other post office. The problem however, is the sheer incompetency and lack of order when it comes to delivering packages. My girlfriend was expecting a package from Europe, which arrived to the post office pretty promptly. They attempted to deliver it when we weren't home and left a note that they will redeliver it. We filled out the back of the notice asking them to leave it, and signed it. We got another delivery attempt notice the next day stating that they can't leave it because it requires a signature. Not sure what the problem is when we SIGNED the paper and said they can leave it, relieving them of any potential liability, but sure, okay. They said we can pick it up at the post office. She goes to pick it up a few days later on Saturday and is told that the item is out for delivery because someone called and asked for it to be redelivered. We DID NOT call. We were promised by Benjamin that if the carrier doesn't leave the package at our door, he would personally bring it to our building once the carrier comes back with it. He gave us a number to reach him. Long story short, the package never comes, Benjamin is not there when we call, no one at the post office knows where the package is, and upon checking the tracking, the item is being sent back to the sender in Europe. The reason being some sort of error with our "invalid address." I'm completely baffled as to how our address can be invalid if they left us two delivery notices INSIDE our mailbox initially, yet becomes invalid afterwards. Also, I would assume if there was an issue brought to their attention, they would keep an eye out for it. This is not some random package that we ordered online that we can just reorder. This is from her family and now we don't know what the situation is. Haven't had any problems at this post office and have been able to be in and out within 10 minutes of my arrival at the latest, including the line time. It should be known that the people come early to try and get the window service, but the window service does not open until 10am. Delivery pickup with those little slips starts at 9am or 9:30am. They also have the APC which is very convenient if you don't want to wait in line and know how to use it. read more

Unfortunately this is my local post office, so I have no choice but to deal with this location when my packages get a "delivery exception." When FedEx delivers packages and there is nobody home to sign, the package gets re-routed to the local post office, and they attempt redelivery and leave a sticky note stating that they attempted delivery on this date with their information. Luckily I track my packages online, since there was no note. For some reason, the man who picked up the phone- let's call him "Grumpy"- decided I was lying when I said that there was no note. As if there was no possible way that a post it (it's basically a post it) could fall off the front door of an apartment complex where hundreds of people walk through the door each day and that note could possibly have been lost. Besides that, I told him the tracking number, and after he shouted "What??" at me three times, I was finally able to relay him the 16-digit tracking number (apparently it was my fault because of the background noise at his office, he couldn't understand me). After which he told me that the package was indeed at the post office since last week, but that I would need to pick it up myself, or be home during delivery. The post office hours are 9-5 on weekdays, and 9-1 on Saturdays. I told him I have typical 9-5 working hours and that weekdays are nearly impossible. He told me to come on Saturday, and I said that I can't since I volunteer in the mornings. He told me that they're open at 9, so come then. I said I can't, I volunteer from 9-1. He then basically told me "too bad." The only other option would have been to have my boyfriend pick it up for me, but he can't BECAUSE HE NEEDS THE POST-IT TO COME PICK IT UP. But I never got the post-it! What am I supposed to do? Leave work early? Not go to my volunteer work? I don't understand why he could not suggest something plausible, such as redeliver the note, so I could sign it and get someone else to pick it up for me. Also, why was he SO RUDE?? Is it such an inconvenience that I call looking for a package? Isn't that his job? To sort packages and deliver them? Am I asking too much for him to find my package and to deliver it to me? AM I??? I will figure something out, because that's what normal people do, but give me a break. I wish I got the guy's name so I can be more specific. All I know that it was a male, rude, possibly in denial about his sad existence, likely relishing the small amount of power he gleans from denying people their packages. I mean, I offered to pick up the package myself. I basically offered to DO HIS JOB FOR HIM. And all I get is a big "F*** YOU." Wonderful. Happy Holidays a**hole. She told me that she would be willing to let me into the post office at 5:30 to let me pick up the package. I had my first experience here today and it was not a pleasant one. The line was extremely long, which would have been fine if the service made up for it. It did not. I waited on the long line with my boyfriend who had a question about how much shipping would be for a certain item. Jimmy was the employee who "helped us." This man was incredibly rude and acted as though we must be the dumbest people in the world to be asking such questions. I could not get over how this man acted. He did not help us with anything and I had to instead ask a series of questions until I was able to pull some useful information out of him. After our question, we were told to address the package and get back in line. Usually, I would have already addressed the package but since we had a question that ultimately led to us not using the envelope we had picked up that would have been a waste and I had considered this beforehand. So back in line we went to wait our turn AGAIN. We were helped by someone who was not as horrible as Jimmy, but I have to say that while observing from the line, I witnessed a good amount of rude behavior towards the customers. Conclusion: The people who work here are rude and unpleasant. Avoid Jimmy. And know exactly what you are doing or prepare to wait in line twice. read more
