The two front workers as of now are amazing, it's the mail carriers that CANT DO THEIR JOB. My mailbox has been getting notes that it's been full and when I go to get my mail, it has two envelopes and a package that they can't fit into my small mailbox. Obviously, the package isn't gonna fit. I don't understand why they can't put it on my front door that's 10 feet away. I am a busy woman. I can't keep going to get my mail every single day. I check my mailbox every three days and every time I check it, there is a note in it saying to come get my mail. I would like to express my deep disappointment and frustration regarding the discriminatory treatment I experienced while applying for my children's passports at the Damascus Post Office. The agent handling my case by the name of Yuchun he was unprofessional and treated me unfairly extremely disrespectful kept asking me if my son was female or male I assure him that he was male and he proceeded to refer to him as as she based on factors unrelated to my application. The tone, behavior, and overall attitude displayed were condescending and disrespectful, making the entire process unnecessarily difficult and stressful. Such treatment is unacceptable and goes against the principles of equality and professionalism that should be upheld in public service. I also believe he overcharged me for two passports of a 16 year-old and 17 year-old he charged me $337.70 if anybody can give me information on how I can file a complaint against this agent please let me know or if someone can contact me from US Postal Service this should not be tolerated . read more

I hate to pile on here, but all of these horridly negative reviews are spot on. This post office is absolutely miserable, all as it sits in the middle of the small, proud, happy little town of Damascus. I have lived here for 12 years and have made three visits to this post office - each time out of necessity, and each time leaving absolutely bewildered. The poor customer service starts with the first face you see when you enter (and I won't mention the name out of respect as most here have already mentioned it). I don't know who urinates in her Wheaties cereal daily, but she seems to take it out on every customer who walks through the door. My strategy has always been to walk in and kill her with kindness, but even that doesn't work. If you are still going to the USPS for stamps or other trivial things that can be done online, do yourself a favor and get online access. Recently, as the USPS has started to send a daily email notification to customers reflecting what mail will be delivered for the day, I have noticed that I never get the mail that was scanned and featured in the email. And i mean, NEVER get it. The only thing worse that lost mail is KNOWING what mail they've lost. Often times important. This Damascus location is pitiful, and they simply do not care. read more

Our mailman is either unaware of a simple rule ( packages bigger than the mail box he puts them into don't fit and have to be nearly destroyed to get them out ! At the same time he will in the same day leave another package on our doorstep because he couldn't cram anymore in the one he jammed prior !!!! )WTF. See the photo ! Most of the clerks here are reasonably helpful. There is one who I try to avoid who overcharged me several times. Once she said I could not send a record album via media mail, even though the USPS website lists that as something you can send media mail. I had to find another clerk to set her straight. She also said I could not mail a slim DVD in a sleeve in a plain envelope that was less than 1/4" thick and weighed less than 1 oz. for first class at 92 cents. This post office has really become a joke. One particular staff member seems pissy all the time and acts like you're inconveniencing her. Several months back I was sending a small package. I tried to pay with a twenty She informs me that she doesn't have change after already scanning my package. Then proceeds to stare at me like she had more important things to do. Today I got notification that a package I've been waiting on was there. I was out and attempted to pick it up rather than wait til tomorrow. She insisted they haven't been scanned in and I couldn't get it until tomorrow. More like she didn't want to go look for it. All other staff have always let me have my packages no problems. From her again, I get the same attitude that I'm inconveniencing her. Im not even gonna start on the several outgoing bills family members have sent, returned from this post office that have been ripped to pieces. Total BS. Avoid this location. read more

I run an Etsy business and dropped off about 30 packages at the post office. I noticed that for days the tracking info still said "pre-transit" so I called the post office and was told that they make sure the post office is clear of all mail dropped off that day so they just have just not scanned the tracking label. 5 days later, my packages were finally scanned and left the Damascus post office.....I had a lot of unhappy customers. read more

I hate complaining about this post office during a pandemic but for the three years we've lived in Damascus they have consistently lost our packages and mail. I have lived many different places and have never experienced anything like this. We have not received three of our packages in the last two months. Opening a claim to resolve the lost package does not resolve anything--it's just a waste of time and energy. read more

I have left three messages for the postmaster to return my call regarding my mail carrier who is terrible. The person who took my calls had limited command of English. My checks get lost, bills always make it., I get my neighbors' mail regularly,and it's Saturday at 5:06 PM and my husband just saw the carrier down the street. No accountability. I live in Frederick but my trash hauler operates out of Damascus, MD, having noticed that my check hasn't cleared my bank after 3 weeks I gave them a call. The receptionist told me that i was the 8th caller from the 2nd county that mailed a check on Sept 14 that they hadn't received. My response was that this clearly indicated that they had a problem with there post office or their carrier, she said that they notified the post office about the situation and received a rude response. I will be looking to an alternate form of payment, so RIP USPS. read more

All of the workers are very helpful. They are also efficient so the line moves quickly. I don't understand the negative reviews. Even though the workers don't go out of their way to be friendly, if you ask a question, they are very polite and helpful. If you treat the workers well, I find that they treat you well in return. There are a lot of complainers which is probably why they don't seem like they're in the best of moods. I think this is the best post office in the area. read more

This post office could do better. Employees are just doing the minimum. When you walk there or call or the phone with a complaint of undelivered parcel, the front office do not have any clue. You will be referred to the postmaster Robin, who is never available: She just step out, she will come back at 15:00 .. and when you call back at 15:00 nobody is there is to pick up the phone. When you finally get a hold on Robin, she will promise to call you back. And you never heard back from her again until you decide again to go meet her again, to hear that she is not in, and you decide to give up This is our taxpayer money and this all about customer service, you do not do us a favor to serve us. Just horrible......the mail carrier doesn't seem to read the street name on the mail because she places our mail/pkgs in the neighbor's box around the corner with the same house numbers. After receiving an email stating our package was delivered and not finding it we played the odds and sure enough our package was in their box. This isn't the first time and sadly we're not so sure our neighbor is giving us our mail when they receive it but we will never know.....We have spoken to the supervisor but didn't receive much satisfaction. read more

Have gone here before on tax day 4/15 and there was no line! I had a pretty decent stack of clients returns that needed to be mailed out and opted to just go to the Damascus PO since I live in the area and the PO where I work always has a line no matter the day or time, that PO is also always too hot or cold depending on the season, half of the lights are always turned off and is old, so going to the Damascus PO was like a breath of fresh air with it being new, properly air conditioned and fully lit. However, I went there today to mail a certified piece of mail and two small packages. When I got up the counter the employee working there barely said anything to me, she moved at an extremely glacial speed as if she had all the time in the world and never looked at me...it was like it pained her to speak and type faster than a three year old. I also was not asked if there was any liquids, batteries or hazardous materials in the packages and also was not asked when I needed to packages to arrive, offering one or two day shipping which is the norm at any other PO. While I realize it is not this employees job to be nice to me but it is their job to ask those other questions. A smile would have been nice but instead the employee was just lazy and rude! read more

I've lived in 10 different cities located in 7 different states. The Damascus MD Post Office is the absolute worst. I live 30 minutes away (driving) from this Post Office and only 5 minutes from another one closer to my house. However, this is the third Office assigned to my street since I've lived here and of all three it is the furthest distance from my house. We have a box at the end of the driveway. Whenever there is a package requiring a signature a card is left in my mailbox stating that an attempt was made to deliver it and it will now have to be picked up at the Post Office. There never is an attempt made because the carrier does not want to drive up the driveway and knock on the door. This happens repeatedly when I have been home all day. There is always someone here. Today I got another notice and not only was I and other family members home but the front door was open. I have a locked glass and iron door so we could have seen anyone coming to the door. No one came and forget even knocking. Can't knock if you don't come to the door. I'm hoping my Congressman can help me. I've done all that I can do and I think it needs to be resolved at a higher level. read more

we have lived here 40 yrs and over the last 5, damascus po has gotten horrible. missing mail, including bills have been delivered to others, we have gotten mail for neighbors a block away at least twice a month. now we are into missing packages. many on line stores ship ups who then deliver it to damascus po, then were supposed to be out for delivery. several months ago, lost all our prescription meds after they went to damascus. even with tracking numbers, they never found them. now two packages from two companies last wk shipped ups to damascus. they were received a wk ago in damascus po. since ups doesnt put a usps tracking no. on them, they are no longer able to be found in damascus. they say they searched for them but cant find them. so they are just lost - or stolen by someone in the po. mail box outside full with mail hanging out, not emptied for 3 days, my husband complained and they said no way, only to look out the window and see one of them slip out the back door with a cart and empty into two lg. containers. nasty attitudes. ripped open packages when they manage to deliver them. hate to give them even one star. read more
