Dropped off a package to return, they have somehow lost my package and i have no had to forefit my refund due to seller not receiving on time. Calling usps did not help in the slightest bit, at this point i am a bit enraged and cannot believe the ammount of aggravation this has caused. It is as simple as scanning packages dropped at your location and yet the lazy staff cannot do their jobs. To top it off i have never seen so many employees hate their jobs. The ammount of eye rolling and shoulder shrugs is crazy, they openly complain about their jobs while dealing with customers and move at a snails pace. I Hate, Hate l, Hate this post office! I've been to too many government USPS offices around the city and this is by far the laziest, bunch of front office staff Ive ever encountered. There is ALWAYS a line when you go and only 1 person attending the desk.. while you hear the back having their BS bantering. Sheryl the front attendant has no customer service qualifications.. she was helping a customer before me and when she was done I stepped up to the desk.. She merely turned her back didn't say one word to me that she was closed (just had me standing there) while she was fiddling with something and headed to the back.. knowing I was waiting for her.. The other attendant saw this and called Me to step up. Someone needs to coming in and either retrains these employees or start letting go the bunch. What a waste of time and money. Just stopped in to have them check my address as I've had a view venders inform me that the address on file was incorrect. I tried to contact the USPS via the online portal, however, they never got back to me after 14 days. They did, however, send me a survey asking how my experience was. Anyway, I walked in to see two attendants; one was actively working with others, the other was staring at her phone. The one working with patrons was actively complaining about how terrible her job was and then proceeded to get into a verbal argument with an elderly customer over how long she (the customer) had been waiting. The customer tried to explain that she was trying to get to work, to which the USPS representative responded that it wasn't her problem. She then continued to attack the elderly women saying that she had seen the woman on her phone (while waiting in line) and that she mustn't be in much of a hurry if she was on her phone. It was trashy, disrespectful, and embarrassing. I try to use the USPS to support them, but every experience I've had in the last year has been awful. read more

USPS indicates their operating hours for this location are until 3pm on Saturday. It's precisely 2:18pm and they're closed. We've had multiple poor experiences with this post and it's really time for an inspector to come in and get things squared away. This post office isn't completely terrible. I mean, if you don't need any interaction with the staff or to wait in line, you're pretty well off. There is a parking lot which is a huge plus in the city! There is a self-service kiosk which is another big plus to avoid the line. They don't have any pens anywhere though for people to use. So even if you use the self-serve kiosk but forgot to bring a pen, you're going to need to go up to the desk to borrow one. So...remember your pen! I did just that this past weekend. No wait in line at all! But when I got to the desk I waited a good 2 minutes while waiting for two workers to finish their conversation about facebook friend requests. I would not recommend this place to apply for a passport. The agent named Shirley does not know what she is doing. She almost let us go without asking for the birth certificates. She process my 16 year old's passport incorrectly. She never asked him to sign it or did the oath I received a letter from the Us passport agency saying the application was processed incorrectly due to an error at the post office. I had to go back in and make another application and have my son sign it. Shirley took care of us again and she tried to charge me the processing fee when the letter stated not to. She didn't care to read the 2 page lettet she kept asking me questions which the letter had the answers to and I would answer its states on the letter. She tried to blame it on me that maybe the picture was wrong and that if my son still signed his name i print and I said "you never had my son sign it and you never had him do the othe" She tried to blame the fault on me. 16 years old.need to sign their own application and have their own othe. She never did that to my son or have my son sign it. His dad and I where the ones who signed the first application. She obviously doesn't know what she is doing. She is also very slow with paperwork I wouldn't even give it one star. This office needs another agent that knows what she or he is doing and knows the laws and rules about passports! I called the passport agency and they let me know that my sons passport was posted and ready to be sent.. guess what... my son signed in print!! So Shirley doesn't know what she is doing! Today I waited for about 20 minutes while the one clerk at the counter did seven passports. At any other post office, an extra clerk would come out to help. Or there would be a separate area for passports, there was actually one here. I talked to the manager (not sure if she really was the manager) and just heard about how I was totally wrong and how they followed Post Office procedure. Their reviews are abysmal (1 1/2 points). This place is hilarious. I almost want to give it a few extra stars just because the employees are so pathetic it's funny. If you're going to come here you'll need to plan ahead and have nowhere to go within an hour of your postal experience. I don't know if the office is actually understaffed, but I am certain the staff that are present are absurdly incompetent and insulting. If possible, try to listen in on the interactions between other customers and the employees. They go out of the way to make you feel like you're "postally" inept and that they're masters of all things mail. A few tips: 1) Bring your own writing utensil. I highly recommend avoiding this Post Office location. I walked in to an employee yelling at a man in line. It sounds like he might have been complaining about the wait. I work in customer sevice and you have to keep your cool, even when a customer is rude. Sometimes it is hard to keep it in, but yelling at someone makes for a very uncomfortable atmosphere for the rest of us customers. I waited patiently for my own turn. The first clerk was friendly and took care of a shipment no problem. I then asked them to search for a package that was undelivered to my fiance. The first time they couldn't find it. Another employee offered to look for it. Luckily she found it, not before lecturing me about how it would have been easier to locate if they knew where it was coming from. First of all, it was a gift so I had no idea where it was coming from. Secondly, they had failed to ask where it was coming from. What difference does it make where it comes from? If a packaged is not delivered, it is the responsiblity of the Postal Sevice to make sure that you receive it, regardless of where it comes from. Tried calling for literally an hour straight. This is not the first time I've tried to do this before finally walking over there. The phone rings for a different amount of time each call and then disconnects. So obviously I assume that someone's just ending the call. When I go there it always takes forever even if I'm the only on there, and I always feel like I'm inconveniencing them with my presence. I wished negative stars existed because this place is well deserving of that. A foreign government agency used US Postal Service to send some very important personal documents to me. The mailman/woman attempted delivery during a workday and because a signature was required and I was working a notice was left at my door directing me to pick up the letter at the post office in Ravenswood. So I took the notice to this location as directed. Once there they searched and searched the back area without locating my letter. I was there for 1 hour and 30 minutes and finally they just told me they don't have the letter. I couldn't believe it so I asked them how do I claim it lost or stolen and get proof so that the agency can resend me documents. I was provided a generic phone number to call and make a claim. In addition the supervisory employee asked me to write my information on a random sheet of paper for them to look for it later. I refused because I couldn't believe that a postal office didn't have an actual form for me to fill out for a situation like this. All the employees were so rude to me. Eventually one of them located an actual form that I could fill out my information on so that they could search for it later. They told me to call the number and because I was upset they gave me the branch number to call the following day. I was upset! The following day I called the branch and explained my situation again. I spoke to a guy and explained my situation from the previous day and I gave him again the tracking number. He went on to tell me that I was giving him way too many numbers and basically called me crazy because according to him USPS tracking numbers were shorter and he was questioning if I was confused and if I needed FedEx or UPS instead. He told me he worked for the postal office for 20 years and knew what he was doing. I couldn't believe what was happening to me! Here I was literally reading the numbers printed on the tracking notice left on my door to only have this guy make fun of me and call me crazy basically. I eventually asked for his name and told him I would come to the branch again in person to prove my point and physically show him the notice I was holding in my hand. So I drove again to the postal office and because I had to take care of my very ill parent I had to schlep them along just so that I could prove that I wasn't crazy. I just wanted my letter or start the proper process for filing a claim for a lost letter/package. I stood again in a long line while my sick parent was in the car waiting for me. Eventually it was my turn again and I told the female employee that I am back and that I spoke to this guy who questioned the tracking number and that all I want is my letter. They again proceeded to search the back room. They came back several times to tell me they cannot locate the letter and asked my address several times. I even wrote it again clearly on a blank sheet of paper. 45 minutes later one of them found the later. Apparently all of them mistook a number from the tracking notice, like 9 for 0, and were the entire time looking at the wrong area in the back. I was shocked by this incompetence and stupidity. I had twice written my address out for them and apparantly they all just ignored what I wrote and only relied on the mailman/womans hand written address on the tracking notice which wasn't very clear. Then they asked me to sign the notice without bringing me the letter from the backroom, so I refused. I told them I want to physically see that they have this letter before I sign that I have received it. I received eye rolls at my request. One of them eventually went to the back again and brought the letter to me. Because I lost all trust, I even opened it to ensure my documents were there before signing their tracking notice. Then I asked again about the employee I had talked to on the phone. The female told me that actually he was a mailman and just got moved to the backroom area and that he was confused. I told her on the phone he sounded very sure of himself and he needs training because he obviously is under the impression that tracking numbers were shorter than they actually are. Two trips later and over 2 hours waisted I finally had my letter in my hand. Complete incompetence and so disorganized! Avoid at all costs! read more

Beyond the excuse of Covid, some routes have regular carriers (mostly better off residents) while more mixed communities serviced by the station have erratic or non delivery issues. Water and heating bills in particular which results in late charges or worse. For the past several months the problem has worsened, and after complaining to anyone who will listen including elected officials I even go to the post station to pick up my mail of which there is none. I KNOW this can't be. I even mailed a few test letters to myself. No mail delivered. Nothing at the post office. My conclusion, but they will never admit it, on my route someone is dumping mail. Never go to this post office. Rude ladies who have attitude problems. They try but not hard enough. Go elsewhere. That used to be my entire review but I'm editing to be more critical and to share my experience. My husband and I came here to get our 4 year old a passport. We had everything ready, all the documents needed, only to be told we need photo copies of everything. They don't have a copier so we had to leave to make copies. Came back right at 2 and we were told they are not processing anymore passports for the day. Of course we were bummed out because we were there first at 1:00 o'clock and we would have respected their times, but one of the employees was literally screaming, having a tantrum because another customer pissed her off. So unprofessional. She made all the other people ahead of us wait even longer because she can't handle it. As we were about to leave my husband wanted to ask real quick if were would be processed and the lady said no and said I was rude to her. I'm sorry. I did absolutely nothing, said nothing and was literally taken aback because no one has ever said that about me! My husband of 7 years was like "what?! MY wife?" I wouldn't hurt a fly. So thank you for the rotten cherry on top of our melted sundae already. The only way this post office will change is if the people working their change their attitudes. I would rather pass a kidney stone than deal with this place or its employees again. One staff member would not wear a mask, and the others weren't wearing them properly. Customers were packed inside like sardines. Both my husband and I had to be present to submit a passport application for our daughter. We made an appointment. The woman who processes passports went to lunch when we got there! Also, the woman who refuses to wear a mask also wears no name tag (how convenient) and is EXTREMELY rude when she does decide to acknowledge your presence. This is the worst post office I have ever been to. This morning I stood in line for an hour watching two of the three employees gossip about a late employee while the middle person was the only one taking customers. They were blatantly talking about how unprofessional and argumentative the other staff members are, all in clear earshot of the customers. The woman in front of me asked the two chatty employees if one of them could assist her, and they said no because it was their break time and that their replacements were just late showing up, so they were just sitting there waiting to leave. I was disgusted by the laughable customer service. I watched as the middle employee gave attitude to several customers on how they filled out paperwork incorrectly,and she kept sending these customers out of line to do the paperwork over and over again. Yet, she was not giving them guidance on how to complete it correctly. I've had nothing but horrible experiences since I moved into this neighborhood in 2006. The front desk staff are abusive, lazy, and incompetent. They are also amazingly arrogant, considering that none of these primates could hold any other job. But, one must acknowledge their consistency. But it's not limited to package delivery or pickup. They are equally incompetent and nasty about regular mail, and passport handling. After being made to wait nearly an hour there in 2007, because the "only person capable of handling my request" was occupied...we were then told that this individual they had left the office 30 minutes into our wait. No notice, no apology, the other drone simply turned her back on us and left the front desk to the lone attendee...also ignoring the a long line behind her. We left, went to the Evanston office and were in and out within 15 minutes. Since that last fiasco, I don't get mail at my home address any more, and have all mail directed to my downtown office. Still, even when limited to packages alone, and then ONLY because the merchant uses USPS for their "free delivery" options, I am forced to waste time and money on "failed" deliveries claimed by the P.O.'s website to have been "impossible to deliver"...and without any paper documentation. Of course, it's indeed impossible when you've made no effort in the first place. Most recently, another "package could not be delivered as addressed"...but no delivery attempt ticket left behind (guess why?) Then, and despite two separate requests for redelivery, each of which was acknowledged and confirmed by e-mail, not a single effort to actually do so (I was home both days, and left details by both the online redelivery request and on a full-page note at the mailboxes on the front gate. Yet, regular deliveries by UPS on behalf of Target, Amazon, etc. seem to have no problem. I have met with the supervisor there in 2007. She was intelligent, empathetic, and equally frustrated by the fact that she couldn't fire the lot of these wastes of space. If this was a private business, they would be subject to a consumer fraud claim. In fact, I will be advising all future businesses that I will require service by UPS, and cite the many complaints about this office's blatant contempt for their customers over more than a decade. If they don't like it, they can take it up with their agent who is making them look bad...or, I can take my business elsewhere. If everyone else does this, hopefully these losers will be shut down. Negative 50 Stars ~ Quite Possibly the WORST Post Office in the entire United States ! Here's a hint - if you live in the neighborhood and by some horrible accident or mistake have a package delivered through the Post Office, think and prepare carefully before entereing this branch. Have a meal and use the bathroom, carry bottled water. Plan to wait in line, even in the most "off hours" times, for about an hour. Bring multiple forms of picture ID, at least 3x more tht you might reasonably need. Be very carful in the parking lot, and around the building, everyone coming out is going to be seething mad, and the employees themselves, well, I honestly would not trust them not to steal my purse if given the slightest opportunity. Do not leave children, valuables, or foodstuffs unattended. Lock you car, and watch out. Ideally bring a friend with a notebook and camera, to document the exchange - you probably will not get your package, and whatever record you made of your attempt will be all you'll have to convince whomever sent it to try again, USING UPS or FEDEX. Failing that, you will have a document of the whole bleak little Kafka-esque circus that is the Post Office. Maybe it will seem funny later, on YouTube. Count on being treated with sneering hatred, racism, and general loathing, whatever your ethnicity - this branch staff is diverse, but spiteful, stupid, angry, and viciously hateful of all humanity. Kind of like orcs. Be polite or nasty, it makes little difference at this point; you were stupid enough to allow someone to send you a package via the USPS, you now must suffer. (or sometimes, creepilly, they will be fawningly butt-kissingly friendly to you, or to someone else in line, slowing things down even more to discuss the weather in Kualalampoor or some such facinating thing in a sexy, conspiratorial whisper, for like 20 minutes) Having a friend can help at this point too, sometimes that can be disconcerting, as can the aroma of crack cocaine occasionally being smoked in the back, and the other strange party sounds sometimes heard. (To be fair, I have only personally noticed an obvious crack-being-smoked-right-now-on-the-premises smell at this branch two times.) And of course unsurprizingly, any derranged homeless folks that wander in will be left to the customers to deal with, as they see fit. So...watch your belongings, watch your back. You might even want to make a cheklist - with check boxes for buying stamps, and then one for getting your change from the stamps. Yes, they are that petty and triffling. Yes indeedy. If you have a delivery slip, and they refuse to give you the package (they probably will, for the most made-up reasons imaginable too) MAKE SURE YOU GET THE SLIP BACK. In fact, conside making a photocopy and only giving them the copy until you get the package. I have had them blatently refuse to give back my slip, saying I never gave them a slip, then saying they already gave it back, then going back to claiming I never gave them a slip. Short of jumping over the counter and forceably taking it back, what's to do? try calling the complaint line, what a farce that is. This is their little game, they want to do this so they can steal and/or destory your package, and then you have no recourse. I'm serious, be careful. I know it sounds paranoid, but go and see for yourself. I have lived in some really "bad" neighborhoods too, and in some half-assed foreign countries, and seen some wacky postal Hi-Jinx (some of the greek ones pretend to go "on strike" a couple of times a day, so they can stand around smoking cigs & drinking coffee, etc.) but nothing anywhere near this icky - it's like crappy horror movie based on Dante's Inferno - the staff must have done some pretty naughty things to get assigned to that dank, musty, boiler-room of a branch. It doesn't hurt to mentally prepare; pretend you are going into a scary 3rd world hellhole as depicted in a bad expolitation film, or some horrid corrupt eastern bloc checkpoint, or something similarly nightmarish and doomed. Keep your wits about you so you don't get hurt, and don't assume for a second that you will get your own legal property that someone paid good money to send to you: that's not the way they do things at the US Post Office. read more

The ghastly quality of service and the poor attitudes exhibited by the counter staff at that post office are a blight on the whole community and reflect very poorly on the US Postal Service. This Lincoln Square/Ravenswood post office is, in my experience, by far the worst in any measure of customer service. I despise this post office with a passion. I hate this office so much that I actually dread getting packages. The idea of moving, just to get away from this branch of the USPS is rather appealing. When I need to mail anything, I usually go to a different post office, even though this one is just 3 blocks away from me. I also drop letters in the drop boxes of other zip codes, just so they can avoid this post office. So, let me recount my experiences with this abysmal hell-hole. The lines are always very, very long. There is usually only one person working at the counter and they are slow and impolite. It is messy. Whenever I step into this post office, I feel myself becoming angry. I've actually left a couple times because of this. They don't stock nice stamps. Probably because the idea of anything beautiful in this pit of feces is reprehensible. The building is ugly and squat....and it's just horrible. Let's move on to the residential delivery service this post office sometimes offers. Getting mail is great, particularly bills because that means I can pay them and keep my credit from getting any worse. In the past 10 months I've lived here, I think that we've gone through several mail carriers and most have been pretty damn bad. Often we'll go days without getting any mail in our box. That usually means that our mail is going into our neighbor's box, even though ours is clearly marked. Once I went two weeks without getting any mail, even junk mail. I had been expecting something for a week and went in to complain (the horror!!) and they just said that I must not have gotten any mail. Oh yes, I have had mail be returned to the sender because the post office was unable to delivery to my door (three blocks away). When my mom sent me a registered lettered to ensure it got to me, even that took about three weeks for me to get, even though I had a tracking number. When I finally went in to try to get my letter that I knew was in the office, the manager himself was unpleasant and mean, though he did manage to find my letter after 20 minutes (with a tracking number). He gave me a very hard time because I didn't have a delivery slip that my incompetent mail carrier never delivered. Okay, there is my spilled vitriol. I'm happy to have this off my chest. Is it too much to ask to get my mail delivered 6 days per week? Am I entitled to get my mail delivered 6 days per week? Is there a logical explanation as to why I have to call the Ravenswood Post Office (aka Hades, Hell, House of Asshats) every month or two and beg someone to please have my mail delivered? Is there a logical explanation as to why a substitute carrier is not given the critical info whereby he/she can deliver the mail on a route he/she is covering for an absent regular carrier, i.e., keys to the bldg/security code to the front door, etc. Tomorrow I will be once again calling these dickwads to beg them to deliver our mail as we have not received any since Saturday The irony in all this is that a few weeks ago I received a letter from a USPS VP & Consumer Advocate in Wash DC, asking me (and many others, I am sure) "for assistance on a volunteer panel to measure the timeliness of First-Class Mail...and serve as a Test Mail Reporter..." The description of this job: - you typically receive 3-6 pieces of First Class mail per week - you will report the date of delivery via a toll-free # or via the internet. - you collect and open your mail every day - Monday thru Saturday MONDAY THRU SATURDAY?
