I have read these reviews, ...and really, if anything, all those comments are generous... because.. ok, here's what happens... you get a slip for a package that you foolishly let someone sent you. you've gotten packages there before. you know what's in store. you empty your bladder and steel your nerves. you go into the post office, and there's already four or five people waiting at the special pickup window, which has its door closed, and the other line (for "service") goes out the door... two surly women take their sweet time behind the counter... the line doesn't move. now, you've done this fifty or sixty times, so, you know what to expect. you step up to the special pickup window, right in front of all those poor bastards who have been standing there for months being all polite. you are, after all, going to do them a favor, and at least get them out of here a few hours earlier than they otherwise would. you start pressing the buzzer every three seconds for about 10 minutes. finally one of the surly women starts saying "Sir" everytime you press the buzzer, so it's "buzzSir, buzzSir, buzzSir, buzzSir, buzzSir" (NOTE: your gender does NOT matter. You are "Sir"). if you stop, which you SHOULDN'T, the surly woman says "why can't you be patient like everyone else?". don't answer. it's a trick! after all, it doesn't matter if everyone else's soul has been sucked out waiting for service, you're not braindead... yet! if you ask where the person is who is supposed to be behind the counter, she ignores you. if you stopped, even for a second, you must now redouble your efforts lest they think they've figured out how to deal with you! you start pressing the buzzer again, and she starts with her "buzzSir, buzzSir, buzzSir" thing. it's time to ramp up your attack. while still pressing the buzzer, you take out your cell phone and dial the phone number on the slip. You hear the phone ring. FOREVER. No one picks it up. There is no answering machine. The interminable ringing phone has one purpose: TO BREAK YOUR WILL TO LIVE. Don't let it! Be strong! Keep the phone ringing. While buzz, buzz, buzzing. It's you against them now. Who's stronger? IF you perservere, IF you have the steel and the fortitude, eventually, they'll give in. DO NOT BE FOOLED. at this point, if you're on the verge of victory, someone comes and opens the special window, pretending that they were right there all the time, and that you've just been here for a few seconds. you hand them the slip. they look at it, and, say that that package isn't here because it's been redelivered... without checking. they then try to close the window while simultaneously throwing the slip away DON'T LET THEM DO IT! if they close that window, it will never open again. and if they throw the slip away, of course, it means that you have no hope of ever seeing your package. EVER. knowing that your window of opportunity is fast closing, you grab your slip and say "can you please check? I'm expecting a very important package." that last bit is very important. it piques their curiousity... makes them wonder what wonderful prize they get to keep at the end of the evening... you can see that flash in their eyes... but then it's gone. now, they look at you with disdain and take everyone else's slips (those braindead, polite zombies, smile their thanks at you while the surly woman at the counter sneers) and walk away for half-an-hour. sometimes you see them shift through things. most times, you just don't see them and you wonder what kind of sandwich they're eating. when they finally come back, mysteriously, none of the packages or registered items or whatever, can be found anywhere. they must have been returned to sender. even if you got the slip the day before, your package, it's gone! Every. Single. Time. Time and day do not matter. Even the Congressman doesn't know what to do about this post office. 10TH CIRCLE OF HELL CONTINUED So I leave the post office, drive home, GET A COMPANY CHECK, go back, walk in and show him my company check before I bring my packages in again, with my license, and my business card, to ask if they will accept payment with my company/business check so I can get these packages out today. He says if the clerk I dealt with originally WASN'T COMFORTABLE taking my check, I could not write a company check. I asked if there were other clerks that could wait on me since the clerk at the last window believed I was going to write a bad check and it would be taken from her pay. He said "sorry, she's the only one on duty". He's the supervisor she deferred me to, and now he defers to her. At that point I knew this was a control game they have to get their kicks from, because consider... even if my check DID have the same address as my driver's license... does that mean if my intent was to write a bad check I couldn't? Of course not... THAT'S WHY YOU SHOW PROPER GOVERNMENT ID SO THAT THEY CAN PROSECUTE YOU IF YOU ARE WRITING BAD CHECKS. So their "policy" is no policy... it's completely arbitrary, and I now wonder how they can get away with this. And this guy wondered why I was so agitated at the end of this... I'm disabled, carrying big boxes to ship in to the post office and am told I can't pay with my check even though I have proper I.D., am LIED to that it's "Post Office Policy", and when I call them on that lie, they cop to telling me my understanding is in "how I choose to perceive it". I come back with a company check that I am told they will take, to be turned away again because the supervisor's inferior won't take it. This night supervisor also claimed that the 800 number I called wasn't "officially" the postal service, it was another company handling their phone customer service that didn't know postal service policy. I said "right. You can give them delivery tracking numbers, schedule pickups, talk about postal business, and you claim they're not officially part of the postal service after the phone rep READ me the policy regarding Post Office Check acceptance? I'm going in the morning in person to talk to the day supervisor about this, and I am going to file formal complaints with whatever authority there is with the postmaster's office. NONE of this would be an issue if some jagoff hadn't hacked my credit/debit card so I could have just given them my card but without it, I couldn't access cash from an ATM and my only way to pay until my new card comes Thursday is by check. The grocery store accepts my checks, as does every other business with my driver's license. These two postal employees were not offering customer service, they were making it impossible to ship my items without hassles making me have to drag everything back tomorrow or Thursday when I have a new debit/credit card. And something tells me given the fact that the U.S. Postal service policy states a customer can write a check with proper ID, it seems very likely these two were preventing me from shipping because they COULD, especially when I came back and called them on the lie it was policy of the entire postal service not to accept a check that has a different address (personal or business check) so long as the customer has government issued I.D. I too would give this post office zero stars if I could... these employees give the postal service a VERY bad image. read more

Well,I was actually on line looking for another post office near me OTHER than the Ravenswood Hell Hole to send out a 'mass mailing' for my business....I will deliver them MYSELF before I drop them off with those lunatics!!!!! I was actaully shocked to see the number of unhappy neighbors I have....I thought only I was singled out and tortured by these creatures.....I must say I was '(un)pleasantly surprised'..... Alas,let me tell you my little tale about these bastards....Several years ago, I moved into this area, and the trouble began.... I live in a 6 unit building and DAYS would go by without any mail pick up or delivery at all...then, we would get a pile thrown into our lobby one night, sometime after 8 pm....sorted and put into our boxes???What, are you crazy???We were lucky to have them stop by and clean out the pile they were carrying around in their trunk for the last week! So, I would call the post office to complain to the manager, only to hear excuses like" well, your carrier is out with the flu"REALLY????? Well, we haven't received our mail for 4 days....somebody better check on her...I think she's dead!!! What followed that encounter was a 'special delivery' from a neighbor, 1 1/2 blocks away, who brought us a GARBAGE BAG full of our mail that SOMEONE threw into their lobby...such a pile that he couldn't get the door open!!!!! Well, that was it!!!! I called our Alderman's office to complain and was directed to a Congressional Aide, in charge of these matters. I told her my story. She was APALLED!!! Even went so far as to tell me that it is ILLEGAL for the post office to deliver mail past 5:00!!!!! Really? Now we're getting somewhere.....so I thought.....She asked me to put this in a letter to her so she could open up an investigation, so I did....(trusting moron that I am) She then informed me that she FAXED it to the Ravenswood Branch Managerfor review. OH MY GOD.....ARE YOU CRAZY?????? I'll never get mail again!!!!! Oh no, she assured me...this is a legal matter now...they wouldn't dare do anything.....YEAH? Two weeks later I received 11 pieces of my own outgoing mail back from them.....all in their original 'preprinted window envelopes' stamped 'undeliverable...return to sender'...I'm talking about my mortgage payment, ComEd bill, Peoples Gas....etc....Isn't THAT a coincidence?????? And what did the Congressional Aide do about it????? Not an F---ing thing!!!!!! They are all bred from the same sadistic seed, slithering up through the cracks to wreak havoc on us all.....but the really scary part is that some of them have risen to positions of authority, to protect those who's evil hasn't completely manifested yet.......Hell is too good for these minotaurs....... read more

It is almost impossible to describe how much I loathe this post office. Used to be I got excited whenever I received a package, now whenever I see that dreadful package notice in the mail, I devolve into a sobbing, keening pile of despair. Few fates are worse than dealing with the morbid ass-clowns that work here. Rude, incompetent, inconsiderate and S-L-O-W . It is physically impossible to walk or move more slowly than the staff at this place. The only thing worse than the statue impersonators at the front is the incompetency of the management. Evidence: Scheduling the breaks for two of the three dunderheads pretending to work the front SIMULTANEOUSLY at 5PM leaving one corpse remaining to handle the queue. Think there might be a line then? Nah.... The physical location itself is dirty, smelly, small and has about a third of the parking needed. And let's not forget the spectacularly craptastic mailmen...er, lettercarriers...uh, mailpersons? Let's just call them Lazy Subhuman Idiots. I have multiple days go by when I receive NO mail. Most magazines are shredded by my Lazy Subhuman Idiot to the point of being unreadable by the time I get them. I get other people's mail (usually from a different street, let alone a different number) at least twice a week. My Lazy Subhuman Idiot's favorite trick is to leave the mailbox flap up when it's raining. And last time we went on vacation, we went online to usps.com to have our mail held. Somehow that message never got picked up or acted on by these knuckleheads so my Lazy Subhuman Idiot just threw the mail over the fence into the f***ing snow. For two g*d d**n weeks. I've lived in 6 other towns in the last 6 years and that's the first time online mail holding hasn't worked. F&$#@&%!!!! Needless to say complaints go unanswered and problems remain unresolved. After waiting in line for 40 minutes, I finally made it to the second person in line. The person in front of me was (as I'm sure you could have guessed), having issues. She was told by whoever was at the counter that there was no manager on site, so I came up with a game plan. After another 20 minutes, I was finally up to the counter and I began gushing about how difficult it must be for them to deal with surly people all day. After finally getting a positive response, I told her I'd like to tell her supervisor what a good job she was doing. Alas, there was a manager on site. After he emerged from the depths of what I can only assume is the 7th Gate, he was utterly shocked to find out that I had an issue with the service. Apparently, he had never heard of one. I pointed out that I wasn't getting any packages, and he said that they were probably too large to carry. I made an educated guess and told him I was waiting for a package (I wasn't) and gave my name. He returned with a shoebox sized package weighing about 1 pound. The manager was then further amazed when he was trying to assure me that it was an 'isolated incident' that the 50 people in line behind me all started speaking up that they had issues as well. We were told a few days ago that the postman working our route was fired and we should start getting packages delivered to us. I have since received 3 slips, and one package shows online as having been delivered, but I have not received it, nor have I received a slip for it - it's just missing (my guess is retribution for the above stunt). I submitted a compliant online, however have not heard back from the USPS. Avoid this place at ALL costs. read more

The female "supervisor" is EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I shipped a package from NW Florida to Chicago, and once this location got their thieving hands in it - is was falsely marked as delivered. $85 worth of jewelry in a small package MISSING and the carrier SHOULD HAVE PUT IT IN MY CLIENTS MAILBOX. Instead, the carrier left it ON THE FLOOR inside the entryway door to an apartment building (supposedly). Supervisor couldn't confirm where the package was delivered since the carrier marked it delivered with his phone? WHAT?! I'm a former Rural Carrier and KNOW THIS IS FALSE INFORMATION! Post office scanners TRACK GPS coordinates where a package is scanned. Seems this location has had stolen packaged more than once. The Postal Inspector needs to be involved at this location. I HIGHLY SUSPECT MAIL THEFT OCCURRING FROM EMPLOYEES HERE! If the post office has a network issue - and the scanner doesn't upload properly, USPS WILL FALSIFY DELIVERY RECORDS saying it's delivered when a carrier is at the end of their "route" and back in the office! THIS USPS LOCATION IS STEALING CUSTOMERS PACKAGES/MAIL AND LYING TO CUSTOMERS! You cannot blame covid-19 for carriers lack of SECURING MAIL/PACKAGES USPS! Take responsibility and ADMIT this location is by far - the WORST at representing a "trustworthy" mail office. Highly recommend NOT using this post office period and reporting any missing mail/package issues to USPS Consumer Affairs for the Chicago District AND to the Postal Inspectors! read more

I had 15 pieces of mail go missing from online transactions from Nov. 15 to Jan. 5th. 2014 Now two more pieces of mail are missing the month of March 2014. Senders know they mailed the items. It is NOT my letter carrier, who is great. Talking to a manager and staff on the phone and in person multiple times failed to have any results. It's like they are faking customer service and do nothing, they just let you talk and talk until you go away. Most staff at this site are rude, lazy, incompetent and apathetic to the core! Check prices for parcels and large envelopes by size and weight before going in using the online price calculator. Better yet, use an online payment account method and just drop your stuff off ready to ship. Use the mail machine and flee. Many times the counter staff do not charge the correct amount. Out of stamps all the time, so don't wait in line to get what they are always out of... stamps! You can't get stamps at the post office, silly. Try the Walgreens or any other post office. I use the mail system a lot. Dealing with this post office is like beating your head against a brick wall. Six years in the neighborhood and it never gets any better! I recently visited this USPS location and had a very disappointing experience with the front desk officer. Instead of assisting customers with patience and professionalism, the officer was rude and dismissive. When customers were unsure about the process or needed clarification, rather than calmly explaining, the officer chose to raise their voice and yell. A postal service should be a place where people feel comfortable asking questions--especially since many customers may not be familiar with mailing requirements. Yelling at customers who are simply trying to understand the instructions not only creates an unpleasant environment but also reflects poorly on the USPS brand. I strongly encourage management to provide additional training in customer service and communication skills. Respectful and courteous interactions go a long way in building trust and ensuring people leave with a positive impression of USPS. read more

Worst post office ever. People are rude and don't answer questions or help you, they all should be fired! We all need to write the post master about this and have these people transfered out to different post offices. We went for passports there and went through bullshit both times and tried to ask questions and they wouldn't answer or ignore us. We went back for the 3rd time with all the stuff they said to bring and then were asked for social security cards (after standing in line for 40 mintues) which no one had mentioned before. We ended up going to another post office which took all of 5 mintues total and that post office said that NO SOCIAL SECURITY CARDS were necessary. That other post office the people were so nice. The reviews are true, the service here is outrageously horrible. The 5 stars are for entertainment value. It's kind of hilarious to watch unsuspecting customers encounter Queen Regina for the first time. Her philosophical commitment to the customer always being wrong, and the way she leverages what little power she actually has to make every customer feel helpless and oppressed is quite simply a marvel to behold. If this is your neighborhood post office, as it is mine, go in with this attitude of wonder, and you will do a lot better. You can even make it into a fun game. Simply put, this post office is a joke. Its staffed by immigrants from communist 3rd world countries or ghetto snipe that completely don't care . They're there to grind out the day and collect pay checks. If you actually go into this post office for anything, expect to burn half your day in a line that snakes out the door. If you inquire as to why 1/3 of your mail is delivered to your neighbors, 1/3 returned to sender, and 1/3 is missing, they will threaten to kick you out. I have lived in the area for 5 years and have had to deal with the same wretched woman who works behind the counter every time I have the unfortunate occasion to be in this post office. Service is horrible, employees are terrible, and often patrons are equally awful. I once had a man walk in and walk to the front of the line of 15 people and demand service from an employee. Here's a fun one. I mail out cards pretty regularly and decided to buy a bunch of padded envelopes at one time so I don't have to re-purchase every visit. Apparently they'll only take it if it's stamped, and the lady who sold it to me never stamped it. So I get to re-pay for each envelope every time I need to mail out a card because someone made a mistake on their end. Wouldn't even be so upset if they offered anything remotely close to a solution. Being told "it's not stamped" repeatedly was really creative problem solving on their end. read more

The rating says it all... But if you have time and like read, this is the worst governmental facility known to man kind! The employees are simply GHETTO minus the Fabulous. The wait line is sometimes all the way to the front door. I've gone on several occasions even at different times of the day and I just can't find a time when the service is good and the wait is minimal. The staff is very quick, efficient and friendly. I appreciate that this post office is open later than most others around as I tend to be a little too late to my neighborhood office. I know this is a government agency so the workers aren't getting paid nearly as much as they should be (which is pretty much the same for all of us; capitalism, am I right?) but they are kind and tentative and I give them a double fisting of kudos because I couldn't do it. I don't know what people expect from a US Post office, but this one, like many, is barely adequate, but hardly the Hell on Earth people are making it out to be. My only real complaint is that there are never enough people working there and the lines are almost always long. Yes, there are many foreigners working there but THEY ALL SPEAK ENGLISH.
