Had an important/expensive purchase sent via USPS, I'm new to Lincoln Square. The employee delivering the package just hit property not accessible when they were done working for the day. So weekend passes and it gets delivered on Monday.... Signature REQUIRED. Well, I was home and nobody rang my buzzer. In fact the USPS worker just signed for it themselves and picked 'left with individual' and dropped it on the ground. What a joke. Month or two before that I had a package sit in sorting for over a month. 2 months total for the international package to arrive. It was a $90 postage fee shipment from the Netherlands. Things I order for $3 from Ali Express arrive sooner. Now I'm waiting for another signature required delivery and filled out the information online to have it redelivered. The redelivery day has passed. So has the day after that. Nothing. No new notice, nothing. They just did not bother attempting a redelivery. Insulting. Very sad to see how far USPS has fallen. Really nothing we can even do apparently. Just pay your taxes and be happy with terrible service. read more

A few years ago, i was able to drop off a return with no problem. The service for packages is pretty average from what I've seen. The second and last time I came to this location was for a passport appointment at 1:45. The clerk said that the agent was already clocking out for some reason, even though there was another family in line there for their appointment as well. As well as I can understand being shortstaffed, I wish they could be a bit more sympathetic. I would not rely on this location for passport apps, I'd rather suggest making a trip Downtown for that. read more

I've been a customer here for 11 years with a PO Box. The drop in reliable service and not being open during posted hours is inexcusable. I can't get my mail in the morning because the doors are locked, and I can't get it in the afternoon due to the bottleneck of one unreliable person being at the counter. I have never cried while being a customer at a business (with the exception of my Dr.'s) until coming here. I asked to see more stamps for my Christmas cards and the "lady" at the counter said I was "not entitled to see them". Then she bossed me around and told me to go somewhere else if I wanted to see other stamps as she would only sell me the Forever stamps. I was stunned and frustrated and left in tears. The next time I came here was to pick up a package, and I did 3 shots of Rumple Minze before, in case I had to deal with the same "person". Avoid passport applications here. We arrived at 1:45 as instructed but waited 25 minutes before being helped. During this time the employee repeatedly appeared with her young child instead of assisting us. When she finally began, she demanded additional paperwork not listed in our instructions. When asked to show where this requirement was stated, she became rude, stormed off, and refused to return. We could hear her playing with her child in the back. Another employee told us she would not return and ignored further requests. When we asked for a manager, we were told "they are in a meeting," without any attempt to check. After 45 minutes we left with nothing accomplished. The lack of professionalism and courtesy was unacceptable. read more

I would give this USPS a 0 - but I gave it a 1 star because it is open sometimes. I went to return a package with my QR code and the printer was down and not able to even print a label to return my package. I had to go to the desk to return it and the lady behind the desk was so RUDE..said I needed to tape the package and when asked if they have tape, she shook her head no and didn't even look at me. I will not be returning to this USPS again and it is sad how rude the employees are. I felt better when I looked up on yelp and saw that they only have 1.5 stars, at least I am not the only one that experienced such poor service. I was here today - Closed early AGAIN. This post office keeps closing early and shutting and locking their doors prior to the posted closing time of 7:00 pm. This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I run a business and I depend on the post office to deliver my packages in a timely manner to my customers. I can't have the post office just closing up and locking the doors any time they please! There are few things more annoying in life than arriving to a business 30 minutes before posted closing time and they're already long gone, lights out. At least three other customers arrived when I did. Change your hours or post a sign, but please don't let people continue to drive out of their way to get to a post office that makes up their own hours. This location used to be my favorite, because some of the people were more pleasant. But it's gotten just as bad as the others. The people who work here barely acknowledge you, even to ask you to step forward. When they do speak to you, it seems to be either in a bark, a monotone, robotic tone, or with complete disinterest. I get that a federal job is hard to lose anyway and a union federal job is probably damn near impossible. But if you hate your job, that's not my fault. Smart guy employee suddenly popped out of the back this morning just to yammer at me about how I couldn't leave my small folding bike in the back for 15 seconds while dropping off two packages. He just wouldn't let it go, either. Lots of smart aleck comments directed at me. Where's the sign out front that bikes aren't allowed? If it's there, I missed it. Honestly, the reviews here aren't exaggerating. WORST customer service. Every freaking time I come here, it's just the one extremely unpleasant, slow, cross-eyed gal working. Did everyone else quit, and she's the only one who couldn't get a job elsewhere, so we're stuck with her every time from now until the end of eternity? Besides having the worst customer service imaginable, they've managed to not deliver packages meant for Christmas that were ordered weeks in advance. The hours are posted 8:00 am - 7:00 pm but they are constantly closing early. They make up excuses like "we are short staffed". That is a poor excuse, as long as they have one clerk working and the system is up, then there is no excuse to close early. This is a United States Federal office, people and businesses depend on the post office maintaining their posted hours, not drive all the way over there through heavy traffic only to be locked out half the time! I made 2 passport appointments today for my kids at 2:30 and 2:45 pm. I had to take them out of school early since the passport hours are limited. When we arrived we were told nonchalantly that the person who does the passports left for the day at 1:00 pm. We were not given any notification of our appointments being cancelled. read more

The ladies are always nice, but this is the WORST post office. Nothing is ever organized, they can't seem to find packages etc, and you will wait 30+ minutes. There is usually only one person because the others don't seem to always come to work, but the one person is always very nice and very sweet. I only know that because they always apologize for the wait and say that they are sorry because they were the only one who came in that day. just remember to be nice to the women working there, because they are truly doing the best with what they have, and they are usually alone, which means they're trying to do the workload for everyone, and it's not their fault. read more

There's no need to point out who I'm referring to, all one needs to do is scroll down through these reviews to find out. There's a lot I could say here, how this person continues to verbally harass the elderly, how her directions are unclear, how somehow she is the only person working the counter. Instead what I would love to do is wish her a Merry Christmas(or whatever holiday she may or may not be celebrating) I hope that this person get time off, reflects, and perhaps even gets a new job. Brenda the front clerk (only one eye works and can't even walk) is rude and lazy. Called ahead of time to let them know I'm coming to pick up a package. Get there and let Brenda know. She instantly gives attitude saying that no one gave her anything and didn't even want to check. Had to call again to make sure it was there which it was. Not my favorite place in the world - there just always seems to be lines here no matter what time of day you come. Pros: It's in a good location, postal staff are doing their best, you're able to do an array of postal activity (I will not list it like that weirdy commercial that's currently playing for UPS). You can buy stamps at a self-serve box in the front. Cons: They usually have only one person serving everyone, always busy, always lines, dreary environment. I usually walk out of here feeling a little drained even if I am going in there just for stamps. I don't love this place but sometimes you just need to go (like a DMV). read more

Thanks to Yelp, I found this post office while in route to my destination. As an avid eBay seller & shipper I tend to visit many post offices around Chicago & Chicagoland while headed to-and-from either school or work. My visit was at the spare of the moment, so I had no idea what to expect. With most post offices being crowded after hours I kept thinking that I would run into that situation, but then again it just happened to be a Friday afternoon, so I gave it a shot. I thought to myself many customers are so eager to start their weekend that they may have chose to not visit. As for this visit it was odd and brief because I can tell that both clerks minds were not at work. To describe the vibes, it felt like I interrupted something that had the clerks attention and the clerk wanted to get me out as quickly as possible to resume. The clerk was so quick to get me out that she forgot to give me my twenty-five cents from the sale. I did not stress it because it was only twenty-five cents. She is probably use to everyone using credit & debit cards instead of flat-out cash. However, my only hope is that they do not screw the shipping of my package up, which has not happened in a while. That encounter alone had me slightly worried about my package making it to its destination. Leaving here was chaotic because of the traffic on Lawrence Ave headed towards Western Ave, which resulted in me altering my route to leave. Take note of when you choose to visit because you will experience not only that, but long lines in this USPS during select times & days. Worst location ever! Like they need to revamp this entire facility. The P.O. Box lobby is a mess. The main lobby is lacking supplies and is also a mess. There's literally 4 certified mail receipt forms here at the moment. I've been to this location a few times. At first i thought it was a fluke. Like maybe i came at time there was a rush. NO! It's simply they don't have enough counter staff. There's always solely one person to work the counter. The line literally wraps around the corner as if in a amusement park. and there's no sense of importance. The whole time I was in there for a simply money order (which was a 30 minute wait since the line was out the door) the two front workers were arguing with each other and were both rude to customers as well. One of them was carelessly tossing peoples packages and letters to a bin behind her while customers watched. There are lots of very hard working people here -- This is a very centrally located, very widely used United States Post Office, in our great City of Chicago. Sometimes when we are in a rush, and we'd like to swoop in and get t.h. out of the PO, we forget that human beings are manning these stations, and sometimes a good job doesn't necessarily adhere to our schedules in the handiest way. Now, I am not a postal worker, but I have been going to this PO for a long time, and I've seen these workers take all kinds of abuse -- for what? For working at a steady pace? I Hate, Hate l, Hate this post office! I've been to too many government USPS offices around the city and this is by far the laziest, bunch of front office staff Ive ever encountered. There is ALWAYS a line when you go and only 1 person attending the desk.. while you hear the back having their BS bantering. Sheryl the front attendant has no customer service qualifications.. she was helping a customer before me and when she was done I stepped up to the desk.. She merely turned her back didn't say one word to me that she was closed (just had me standing there) while she was fiddling with something and headed to the back.. knowing I was waiting for her.. The other attendant saw this and called Me to step up. Someone needs to coming in and either retrains these employees or start letting go the bunch. What a waste of time and money.
