Man, it just gets worse every time I go to this post office. I try to use the self-service kiosk as one of the employees is incredibly rude. Today I had a package that was prepaid I needed to drop off and something I needed to send certified mail. Tried to put the prepaid package in the drop box - it was full. I printed a certified mail label at the self-service kiosk - the label was barely sticky and could easily fall off the envelope. So I get into line and listen to this lady berate someone in front of everyone who was confused over a change of address. Literally yelling at her and talking down as if she was a post office god. Obviously, this caused the customer frustration as well. I sigh and wait for my turn. I let her know the one package just needs dropped off the bin is full and mention the label isn't sticky. She rolls her eyes and says it's a self adhesive label just keep pressing on it. I do and show her it's literally ready to fall off. She barks at me and says stop trying to pull it off. I'm like 100% certain this label is going to fall off in transit and something I paid $5.00 to mail certified - because it is important that it get's there - is going to end up lost. The postmaster should really spend some time improving the customer service here. No one goes to the post office because they enjoy it. They could make sure bins are empty so we can drop things off - and labels we pay for adhere to things. I don't know about the other reviews but I've been going to this PO for years and my experience with the staff has always been nice. If something needs to be sent via USPS, I now will always have it sent to my parent's house in the suburbs. That's because this post office is the most INEPT post office I've ever dealt with. Specifically, when it comes to my mail delivery: -I regularly get mail for my neighbors, even though they are addressed properly, and vice versa. If my neighbors are on vacation or just don't check their mail regularly, this is very problematic if I am expecting an important item -When ever there's tracking, items are almost always marked "Delivered" before they actually are (methinks this is so they can artificially improve their on-time delivery rate) -Employees who are either a) rude; b) have no idea what they're doing; c)both Listen, as someone whose dad worked for the government, I get it. For the employees, it's a pretty monotonous, unfulfilling job that doesn't pay well, so your motivation to do your best is pretty damn low. I live within sight of this perfect example of a failed business model. The employees are slow, rude and have a profound lack of concern for your needs. I walk my dog each morning and while this location is supposed to open at 8:00 I've seen crowds of people pounding on the door as late as 8:20. The carriers who come into the bar across the street tell me there are always staff on-site but they don't care about opening on time because there's no consequence if they don't. If this was a private enterprise trying to operate without subsidy they would be shuttered yesterday. Now I've received awful service from this location for years. Once I had a tracked package that didn't arrive despite the online tracking indicating it had been delivered. When I went in and talked to a supervisor I was dismissively told the package must have been stolen. I only then told the supervisor that there was a time stamped security camera on the mailbox and I watched the carrier scan the bar code at the exact time tracking showed the package delivered but only put envelopes in the box. I also let him know I could provide a DVD copy of the security footage to the postal inspector I was going to call the moment I left the building. After about ten minutes my package was miraculously found. So the Post Office clearly sucks. I've know it for years. But why would I waste my time reviewing it now? My last visit was the final straw. The camel snapped clean in half. I left my home to run three errands. I needed to get a hair cut, go to the tailor and get stamps. I went to the post office 1st. I needed two stamps, just two. Unfortunately the machine in the lobby that allows a blissful transaction requiring no interaction with the surly counter staff was out of order meaning I had to wait in line. Out of curiosity I timed my wait. I stood in line for just over 19 minutes to purchase 2 stamps. For a full four minutes there was no one manning the counter at all as both employees had gone to the back. Every few minutes a manager type popped his head out and looked at the long, seething line but never did anything. The line was as long as 16 people at one point. Five people left out of frustration. Sighs and groans really carry in a high ceiling, marble building like this location. I'm pretty sure I could hear people's eyes roll. When I finally got to the counter the scowling woman was a complete and total jerk. She was exasperated that I was wasting her time over two stamps. Ms. Snippy said in the future I could just use the machine in the lobby. I told her it was broken. With her head cocked to the side she told me it wasn't and popped her gum. The amount of lipstick plastered on her snaggle toothed, carp mouth makes me dry heave even as I type this. Overall it was one of the worst consumer experiences of my life. Following that Kafka-esque experience I then walked one block to my barber. I timed it. My great haircut took 11 minutes. I then walked another half block to my tailor. I was out the door in four minutes. It took me less time to get both a haircut and measurements taken for alterations to three articles of clothing than it did to purchase two stamps. Truth! They never intend on delivering anything larger than a small piece of mail. Then you have to come up to this station where ALL public street parking is taken up by mail trucks. Go inside, say hello and you're not greeted by a grouch behind the counter who you hand your id to and she flings it back at you. I'd call her out by name but she didn't have on a name badge. I've already come three times to deliver my letters! They were rude to me three times! On February 27 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon I came to pick up the letters, but again they were not there. I warned the postal service worker that my English is weak and I still wouldn't understand without a translator! While I was turning on the translation on my phone, the woman rudely scolded me for not knowing English and that this is America! Just bad delivery of a product. In the years that I've gone there the customer service is usually decent but....The mail delivery is horrible, if I get mail twice a week that is a Miracle. I don't even care that I paid $13 for two day delivery and the package was delivered 14 days later or that my Christmas cards were mailed two weeks in advance and it took two weeks to make it to the Chicago addresses and three weeks for the Wisconsin addresses. I just have a problem with my mail not being delivered and getting sent back to sender. I've had credit card companies decline my cards because mail being retuned back. Sure... I can do everything online, but I don't. I won't go again unless I absolutely have to. The lady at the counter, Regina, never stopped her conversation with her coworker, I said hi to her and she never even acknowledged me except to say how much postage would be. So I'll try to describe this in terms that bring everyone's complaints into high relief: I have reason to believe the government of Khazakstan took over this post office recently, and I'm hoping they name Borat to run it, as it will mark a service improvement. There's never more than one person at the counter, and she will work with the urgency of a stoned hippie. I have stood with the huddled masses in lines longer than at the Apple Store when the next iPhone is unveiled. I have finished half of "War and Peace" on one occasion, and hope to crack the first three volumes of the Oxford English Dictionary the next. The one thing they did do right was leave a fantastic art deco sculpture of a chiseled god hanging on a high wall, an urgent delivery in his hand. I don't have particularly high expectations of post offices but this one should be avoided. Very hard to park, and an anti-customer service vibe. Last time I was there only one woman was serving customers. She went into the back room to tell people to come out and help and the reply was "You ain't the **** manager." Then she herself disappeared for 5 minutes, leaving all stations deserted as the line backed up. This post office operates on some extra-shady levels when it comes to "delivering" packages. They attempted to deliver a pair of bluetooth speakers on 06/15/17, but didn't want to deliver it because it was "unsafe to leave". No complaints here. We've had issues with stolen packages in our lobby, so I was happy to hear they were being proactive. To be proactive myself, I decided to search the tracking number and reschedule the delivery on a day that i'd be home, picking Saturday (6/17) and receiving two confirmations by email that it had been properly scheduled. At this point i'm feeling pretty good about this package getting safely delivered. Now today I get notified via Amazon that my package has arrived a day early and has been "delivered, in/at mailbox". That was a rather risky move of them, but luckily my girlfriend would be getting home before me to snatch that up. Fast-forward to later and she's telling me nothing is in the lobby. "It's missing." So I contact Amazon support, explain how this is USPS' fault for not honoring my twice-confirmed delivery reschedule, who then contacts the USPS facility and is given this answer: "they misplaced/lost your package and decided to mark it as delivered." SERIOUSLY?! This office's solution to losing/misplacing a package is to say it safely arrived at its destination. "JOB DONE! Go home crew, we did good today! High fives all around!" I'm fortunate that Amazon customer service was willing to refund me for this nonsense, but I can't believe this USPS operates this way and acts like it's normal. My girlfriend has had packages stolen from our lobby, but what if they never made it to the lobby to begin with? What if they too were "lost/misplaced" and marked as delivered? For all I know some employee(s) is/are opening packages and pulling this whole "lost, but delivered" shtick. I'm done with this post office. Let's face it, nobody enjoys going to the post office. I came to this location to get my very first postcard. The staff was friendly in helping me make sure I had all the required documents before filling out the paperwork on site. Unfortunately, when I came the woman who takes the picture on site was on lunch. I quickly got it taken at a Walgreens up the street & went back. I had another staff member who was less friendly and more business, but I still appreciated that she wanted to get the job done well and right.
