Normally when it comes to the post office I am generally impressed. But the post office for The Rodgers Park area is nothing but incompetence. We can go over a week without receiving mail of any kind, and when you go to inquire as to why you are left with complete apathy. Yelp doesn't allow zero star reviews, so 1 will have to do. Kidney stones. Gall stones. Paralysis. ED. Dialysis. Having a tooth pulled. All of these things are better than this post office. It's not so much the folks working the counter. I truly believe they do their best and do what they're told and get crapped on all day. So- my gripe isn't with them. It's with their "leaders." The manager there is a fool. A step up from Miss Cole, who was about as useless as tits on a bull. There is zero accountability there. The carriers are mental midgets at best. I have to call consumer affairs once a week at least. Packages scanned as delivered and there's nothing there. We watch security footage and there's no attempt whatsoever. Best part: we give them our gate code. Carrier calls my phone and leaves a message saying "your buzzer must be broken because no one answered. And I can't get in the gate because your gate is broken." I wonder if it occurs to these dopes that most people work while they're "delivering" Mail. My advice: shut this shit show down OR get real leadership in there who will hold these imbeciles accountable. read more

This is a small post office with one person working and bad reviews. I dont usually think of looking at or writing a review of a post office - after all, expectations are always low - but I want to give praise to Simi, the worker at this office when I went yesterday. I saw her interact with 2 challenging customers with great patience but clear statements of what she could and could not do. I commented on this to her and we had a very pleasant interaction and should be commended for grace in a difficult job. read more

This post office is always VERY busy, but as long as there are staff members actually visible behind the counter helping people, I can deal with waiting. A couple things to be cautious about: This post office rarely, if ever recalibrate their package weight scales to zero. This can often leave the scale crushed down from a heavier package and reading a falsely exaggerated weight. To ensure that your package is not being calculated as overweight, please ask the employee to recalibrate the scale to zero before weighing your package. I weigh my own packages at home, and 5 of the 6 times I've used this post office in the last year I had to ask them to recalibrate their scales because of weight discrepancies. This post office will not, under any circumstances allow you to use any tape. I don't expect to tape my entire package there, but if there is a packaging problem or a small tear, a courtesy piece of tape is not unheard of. Instead they will direct you to buy one of their official overpriced rolls of tape from the packaging supply kiosk, which will take an additional 15 minutes because no employee is willing to walk 5 feet over to actually sell it to you, and they aren't allowed to sell them at the counter. This sounds nit-picky, but having an edge come loose or having an extra customs form to securely attach and then being unable to tape it because they are stingy with the tape is incredibly annoying. Other post offices are usually understanding, particularly when it is their paperwork being attached to the package that caused the problem. read more

I give them 2 stars solely because today I called (due to a very important lost piece of mail) and spoke to MISS HOLLINS who was exceptionally nice and went the extra mile to get a claim filed for me. I've been to this post office many times and I've had a range of experience there. I've experienced everything from a line that's almost out the door with only 1 or 2 employees working the front so it's barely moving. I've experienced a short line and prompt service. I've seen staff members being incredibly rude to customers to the point where everyone else within earshot (which includes everyone in the building) is made to feel extremely uncomfortable. The reason why I'm not giving this one star is because when I went in to get my passport taken care of the woman who helped me was great. I hadn't renewed my passport since I'd last had it (when I was 7) and was hoping to get expedited service (for an extra charge) so I could go on a trip that I had planned last minute. She told me that since my old passport picture was from when I was 7 and my driver's license picture was from when I was 21 that there might be an issue with the fact that I didn't also provide a copy of my birth certificate. She explained everything in detail, saying that she was willing to send it off anyway and give it a go but warned me of extra charges and stuff. I left feeling taken care of and fully informed and, in the end, was able to get my passport after all. All in all, it's not the best place to go with a few exceptions out there. But I don't really have a choice where they drop off my packages, do I? read more

I had an out of town Emergency concerning a family Member. I came in early to Pay my post office Box fee. The attendant told me that I was too early and the system wouldn't allow me to pay. I came in one Month earlier because the illness my family Member is going through is so Random, the only thing I can do is grab my car keys and leave. When i came back to Chicago from the Ordeal/ all my damn mail was sent back. All my credit cards, all my statements, all my utilities bills, all my sympathy Cards, all my receipts, everything! I just cried and no one could help me. Such a sense of hopelessness The post office is needed in the area but they also need help. This location needs to hire 3 more people to assist. If I can give this place zero stars I would.. Worst service. Disrespectful employees. Unhelpful. They're package stealers. I dropped a package off with a Gucci bag in it two weeks ago and it never scanned out. Tried to reach out to Usps they told me to reach back out to them. No answer. I go online to my surprise there are multiple complaints of the same exact matter. I go into the post office to ask about my package only to be met by two rude employees who told me that the package is long gone and not their problem. I will be taking this further to law enforcement. Do not trust this post office with your packages unless you see them scan and give you a receipt. read more

They are the worst! I was expecting a delivery and when I checked the status online, it said "left with individual at address"...that's weird because I work from home and the post office has told me time and time again that they do not deliver directly to doors, they leave notices to come pick up package, or they leave it in the mailbox if it fits. Anyway, the package was not left with me. I called them and got a hold of the manager who contacted the carrier. The carrier told her that she left it in the mailbox.....why would she write online that it was left with someone? I'm left now figuring out where the hell my package is or how to get a refund from the retailer. The manager's solution was to contact postal inspectors, which i did and filed a case. The case was sent to consumer affairs who called and left a rude message saying they can't do anything about it. read more

Posting a review for this station is an exercise in futility, yet a method to blow off steam. Expected a SurePost delivery handed off by UPS on Saturday along with other important correspondence posted on my USPS Informed Delivery email - Nothing was delivered. Tracking today showed "Delivery Attempted" access issue which is code for BS since I was available and at home all day. After contacting several neighbors in our area, it appears nobody received mail and no truck was seen parked as is the usual. Also usual is not getting phone calls answered to the Devon station..might as well bang my head against a wall. Our regular guy is great but its a crapshoot if he is off, on vacation or whatever. Last winter in his absence our entire neighborhood went without deliveries for days & days to where social media was on fire with complaints - even making their way to States Representatives. Requesting companies not use USPS delivery is only option. read more

Unbelievable. Was expecting a package yesterday. At 7:09pm got a message that they were unable to deliver could not access. WTF. There is NO barrier to accessing my building. I guess the letter carrier did not want to get out of the vehicle. So I called and complained to customer service they said they'd investigate and have someone call me. Still waiting. The tracking message said they would deliver next business day. and we're waiting..... got a delivery notice that another (expected) package would be delivered by 7:30. Then during the day it changed to 9:00. At 7:15 I heard the letter carrier shoving mail into the mailboxes (that's a whole other story)and went down to get my packages/mail. Guess what.... NO packages. She said they sent her out after 5 and she'll check her vehicle. I watched her go to vehicle after she completed the street and of course all she did was load her bins and cart into the back and take off. This happened once before and I ended up telling Amazon to cancel. Looks like I will be calling Amazon and Congresswoman Schakowsky's office again tomorrow. Where is the accountability?? read more

The Rogers Park Post office at 1723 W. Devon is AWFUL, THE WORST!!!! Every year around the Holidays, beginning in early November, mail stops showing up, disappears, i.e. is Stolen!!! Don't bother calling because NOBODY WILL ANSWER! If you decide to go int the post office- they will take your name, address and phone number and tell you they will call you. THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN!! I have received my mail 3 times in the past 6 weeks!! I went to the post office on 12/3/2019, and spoke to a clerk. He went into the back and spoke to a supervisor, Ms. Scott. The clerk return to tell me that they are not receiving mail from the downtown mail facility, and that hey do no know when I will receive my mail!! UNREAL!! I do not believe tat story for 1 minute! My regular carrier has not been seen in over 1 month. I called the WGN News last year around the Holidays, never revived a call back. I called the Postmaster Generals office, sen roughly 10 emails, NOTHING was done!! My advice is to tell people NOT to send you mail in November or December, as this is when the Rogers Park post office steals, throws out mail. I live on Kenmore in Chicago.. Some facing fell of of our building onto the sidewalk by our door. We are getting it fixed but until then it is to dangerous for the mail carrier to deliver so we chained the gate. We ( the condo folk) contacted the P.O. and were told that with ID we could pick it up at the office on Devon. I went out of my way to go there this morning. The nice man at the counter went back to get it. He came back and told me that our carrier refused to separate them out for pick up. The clerk was nice enough to get my package but could not get my bills. I pay half my bills by mail to help support the Post Office. I even bought stamps today. I feel mistreated. read more

I am so tired of the notifications that 'Delivery Attempted - No Access to Delivery Location' that are totally untrue. I leave work early to be available for the package during the delivery time. Delivery time is delayed two times and eventually this notification. I was home the entire time! This happens all the time! The Rogers Park Post Office delivers in my neighborhood. There are sometimes days in the winter when I might not get mail service when other areas are delivering. The current carrier on Farwell Street near Sheridan Rd. can deliver in the morning, the afternoon or even late evening. There does not seem to be a rhyme or reason to when the mail is delivered, which makes it hard to predict or watch out for something expected and important. There are days when there is no delivery and then the mail comes bunched up the next day. The person in charge of the Rogers Park Post Office must be politically protected because no matter how much we complain, there seems to be no quality control over mail services in Rogers Park. I along with others in the area have called the congressperson on several occasions but still nothing has changed. Perhaps bad reviews might finally get this post office moving with a modicum of efficiency. read more

I had a package that I got a notification for that said "addressee unknown", so I went to the post office to retrieve it. I was told that I could be called back for my order if it was not returned to sender already. Seeing that I really cared about the package, the woman helping me then said she would go back and look for the package herself. She found it!!! The post office at 1700 Devon in Chicago (60626) is the most incompetent organization I have every had contact with. For about 6 times, packages that they were supposed to deliver were lost. When we go onto the tracking site, it says that they tried to deliver but could not gain access to the property. This is a lie. The front door of our house is about 8 ft. from the sidewalk with no impediments. We found out that this is just a way to get the package "off the clock." Today Daryl got rid of me by promising that a women named Data would call me without fail. She, of course, never called. We have yet to ever receive a promised call back from this office in several years. And, they never answer their phone The tall woman at the counter is always rude. No one will ever make an effort without being pushed. This office has received bad rating for years but nothing ever changes. read more

The worst post office I have ever been to. It needs new management or should be shut down. This is the second time in a month that my priority mail package has not been delivered. The first time the local carrier claimed he didn't have a key and didn't know what happened to my package. Thank god it had insurance. I reordered the item and it was supposed to be delivered yesterday and now it says held for pick up retrieved from parcel facility. I didn't request a pick up for my packages. Are my packages just never going to be delivered? It seems they don't have consistent carriers who deliver packages or the carriers are too lazy/incompetent to actually deliver the packages to the homes in the community. Didn't even listen to why I was at the usps office and then wouldn't help me find my package even though I had everything needed to pick up my package. I asked to speak to someone else who would listen and she paged the supervisor once and that was it. She didn't bother with actually getting anyone else to help me. There is a woman named Desiree who works here who is an absolute shrew. She can usually be found leaning on the counter, chin on her fist, with a look on her face like she smells something bad. She is rude, nasty, punitive, and downright hateful. Give her a pink package slip and she'll disappear for fifteen minutes and return empty-handed, claiming she couldn't find it. Every time!!! I'm pretty sure she uses the opportunity to smoke a cigarette out back. She snaps at people and rolls her eyes at them in annoyance and it's just beyond me how she keeps her job. (Oh, wait--this is the postal service we're talking about. You can kill people and keep your job.) Beyond her, the whole post office is off-the-rails crappy. My mail is delivered by people who can't be bothered with putting all those pesky letters, magazines, and catalogs in the individual mailboxes. The carriers based at this office chuck the mail for everyone in my building in a pile on a table. I didn't even know that was legal. We all have to go through the entire pile when we get home. I have the "informed delivery" service that scans mail addressed to me and e-mails me images of each piece, and only about half of it actually arrives. Mail is routinely lost and mangled. Sometimes--only sometimes--a package will actually be left that's actually addressed to someone in my building; mostly, they ditch packages at buildings with the same number that are a block or two apart. A shameful crapfest, and, sadly, probably typical of every post office in the country. read more

I had some package tracking problems, as I am between moving apartments. When I looked up the reviews of this post office I was a bit worried, but nonetheless made the quick trip to try to pick up my package in person versus waiting for it to arrive. Upon walking in, I was pleased to see that there was no line. Note: if you have any package inquiries, line up in front of the blue door. Leavy, the person who kindly helped me, wrote down my tracking number and explained to me what was going on. She then went to the back to track down my package that was having trouble arriving and then gave it to me right then and there. If she hadn't done this, I might have not received my package for another few days, maybe a week. Perhaps I haven't been living in this neighborhood long enough to really assess mail/package experiences, but for my purposes this time, Leavy went above and beyond to help me! I've been to this location many, many times. I always try to use the automated kiosk if possible just to avoid having to interact with the employees. They are miserable. Forget anything resembling politeness or customer service - no smile, they don't look at you as they talk to you, in general they just couldn't care less. There can be a long line of customers and one or two employees are sitting behind the counter with signs in front of them saying that their station is closed. Or when you get to the front of the line it's suddenly time for their break. Today I started to approach a postal worker's station too fast and I got the palm of a hand and the words "not yet". Heaven forbid she take one customer right after the other. I couldn't use the automated kiosk this time becuase I was shipping a package to Canada. She complained about having to type so much information into her computer. Might be easier without the 3 inch nails. She laughed at the name of the town written on the package, but fair enough, it is a funny name. Then she read outloud the 3 contents of the package written on the customs form and laughed each time. They don't have (item A) "over there"? They don't have (item B) "over there"? They don't have (item C) "over there"? I explained that they were gifts and that I wasn't shipping them because the items weren't available in Canada. Realizing I wasn't laughing with her, she said "Well I guess it's always nice to get something from the United States". Really? How dumb are you? Do you not know that Canada is a first world country? And it's not located "over there". The magnatude of stupidity and rudeness coming from postal workers is astounding. And, unfortunately, it's not isolated to this one location. It's the norm. It's worth spending the extra money at the UPS Store or FedEx Kinkos just to be able to interact with a pleasant person who has half a brain. read more

Many complain about our Postal Service. Perhaps they would do well to consider the many demands on USPS Staff Members and the continual threat of 'privatization' coming at them from the White House Resident and others. Yes, sometimes the line is long; bring a book, and be patient. Often, there are not enough staff members. And why is that? Because the overall support and funding is insufficient. For decades, efforts to weaken public services have done significant damage. Expectations of staff members are high, but the support available to them is inadequate. Our 'regular' delivery person is great; long hours and always doing her best for everyone. Many people are under stress; working long hours; living paycheck to paycheck and we all need to recognize that being gracious to others matters. The crazy 'Amazon' frenzy can warp a person's perspective. We will all do well to re-evaluate our expectations and be supportive of those who do the real work of the world. read more

USPS is known for very slow and unreliable service. My mails and packages comes from this location. I ordered something online and paid for 2 days delivery. Unfortunately the company chose UPS surepost which is a USPS shipping service. The delivery person left a note in my mail box to choose pick up or redelivery. Now if I was not at home or if I didn't answer my buzzer, I would understand why they would do this but I am staying in my APT and the delivery person never rung my buzzer. I selected redelivery and put the note back, the Delivery eprson has taken the note but never redelivered it to me. I called this post office few times and NO ONE picked up the calls. I had to file complaint against post office with BBB and only than they left the package in my lobby the next day but it still arrived 9 days after I ordered it. USPS complains about being short on cash, increasing cost of stamps and raising delivery cost and blah blah but they still never improve their delivery service and they are the worst shipping company ever and they have ZERO customer service. Don't order anything online if you know the order is shipped using USPS or UPS SURE POST. UPS sure post is a USPS delivery service and not UPS. UPS & fedex are good but not USPS or UPS SUREPOST. read more
