Absolutely the slowest post office on the planet. Rude and incompetent. I got there at 7:50 am. Got served at 8:40 because there was only one person behind the counter. He kept going back for at least 10 to 15 minutes to get things. Then some employee came around the back he stopped to ring him up for something. This is the worst post office I've ever been to, and it's not even really close. They never have enough people working so there's always a huge line. They also say that they are a location where you can get a passport, but when I went they told me they couldn't do it because apparently the only person in the whole place who knows how to do it was on maternity leave, then I went back again and they still refused to do it with no explanation months later. I try to be objective in my reviews but I can't think of a single positive thing to say about this place. Go out of your way to go literally anywhere else. Trust me. read more

I thought no post office could be worse than Uptown post office. I was wrong, Edgewater/RP post office is the worst especially the supervisor there. She is habitual liar, there is no such thing as service, customer is always blamed and ridiculed. None of their systems work correctly, there is no such thing as delivery regularly. The Roger's park post office is committing fraud. By allowing carriers to mark pkgs as delivered and fail to deliver. The informed delivery is also stopped photographing mail because my area we were told my area they get threats so are not delivering mail regularly. They mark my pkgs as "no access" which they are told to do as to appear like they attempted to mail. Now apparantly it's ok to mark pkgs as delivered so you cant track and only hope carrier will deliver or its lost. So ebay purchases are lost or stolen but you loose money because @USPS is committing fraud and you cant prove pkg was not delivered so ebay wont issue you refund. So USPS will prevent ordering anything because they dont deliver. read more

I don't usually write reviews but I have to. This post office is awful. They only come to my building (that contains 60 apartment units) maybe once or twice a week. My packages will say "out for delivery" meaning they are ON THE TRUCK, only to not get delivered for four more business days. After reading the reviews, it appears I'm not the only one with this problem. How do you just not stop by an entire apartment building for days in a row? I also USED to do package pick-up, to which I would get a notification saying my packages were retrieved, only to go to the lobby and see that they were still there. This happened multiple times. Every time I've called this specific location, no one answers the phone. Theyre either lazy or know people are calling to complain. If I could give it less than one star I would. read more

Went to the post office to get stamps. At first, remembered years ago when the postal employees all smiled and knew your dog, by his or her first name. So expected to have quick service with a welcoming smile, and the feeling of quality service, customer experience. Knowing that because of current circumstances, service might be somewhat slower, expected the wait time to be waiting longer than usual. As I was standing in line, an argument occurred between an employee and a customer. This went on for maybe ten minutes or more, and resulted in a shouting match. My legs were sore from standing all day at work, prior to going to the post office. Was standing in line for at least forty-five minutes for those stamps. I would feel sorry for an elderly person waiting for a package or trying to send a gift to their loved ones. read more

I really think people tend to review post offices only when the service is bad. In all my years of going to various us post offices, I have had good experiences with nice staff. sure sometimes they are tired and are not as "up beat" as other companies but they have a demanding job and see ton of costumers with ample complaints. I went today for a money order and shipment. I messed up my money order and needed to redo it. Easy process, I just have to come back tomorrow which is fine by me as it was my own mistake. Good people here, don't let reviews psych you out of supporting our US postal service ! The lady that was helping me had a bad attitude. I literally had to take an Uber here to find my package that the carrier, according to tracking said "delivered" then a few hours later say "insufficient address." I hate when my tracking says delivered then change to some bs reason. Our name is on the mailbox AND we received mail that day. I left with no package since they have to talk to the carrier. The Rogers Park post office specializes in incompetence and apathy. They exhibit disinterest in assisting their customers and don't answer phone. The manager AVOIDS customers. So what's the deal here? For the last 3 days it's had no clerks, that's right ZERO. If you want to do anything at all you have to use the kiosk and wait an hour in line to do it. Where are all the employees? While you're waiting for hours in line take a look at the floor, it's filthy, look up, be shocked at all the broken lights, I counted about 20. Take a look at the the panel overhead the clerks(oh right, they're not there) you'll see every light is out. Guess what? It's been 3 years since anyone replaced a bulb on that. This is the Post Office, a Govt run entity that is supposed to be open. So why is nobody there? Ask the maintenance man what the issue is...oh wait, they haven't had one of those employees for over a year. If this was a regular business it would be screaming "We're hours away from closing forever" but this is a Govt run entity that recorded over $56 BILLION in profits last year. As long as you've got the Devon post office to deal with, as long as you have to wonder whether you're getting all of your mail, AS LONG AS YOU HAVE TO GUESS ABOUT WHETHER MULTIPLE FRIENDS AND RELATIVES ACTUALLY MAILED YOU A WEDDING GIFT WHEN THEY SAID THEY WERE ABOUT TO AND ASKED FOR YOUR ADDRESS, BUT NOTHING EVER SHOWED UP, AND NOW OUT OF GOOD MANNERS YOU CAN'T ASK THEM ON THE OFF CHANCE THEY FORGOT--as long as that happens, living in Rogers Park will always be an exercise in patience. And that patience is never rewarded, at least, 1% of the employees at the Rogers Park branch of the Post Office will express chagrin and remorse at your concerned phone call re: mail delivery.The other 99% will saunter around the customer counter while the line stretches 15 people deep, and distract the one person working, and generally flip the bird to everyone in line while the passport lady chats with a customer for 20 minutes about her kids. And the supervisors! Please. Don't get me started. Rarely do I feel combative toward people who do a job I'd never want to do (I try to feel grateful that somebody else is doing it), but to be honest, I've had to call these people more times in two years to ask about missing bills, letters, etc. than should be allowed by law. We get it. You really hate your job. However, you work in the service industry. People are your customers. Don't tolerate people? Don't work for people. I don't appreciate being yelled at. At all. Granted, I was a little absent-minded at the time... (Long story short: My pen ran out of ink. They had no working pens. Had to fill out slips on their counter. The USPS employee asked me to move. I had no idea where she wanted me to move - to the left or right of the register. She yelled at me to move to the right to make room for customers, even though there weren't any behind me.) Fine, I'll say it. She was a total and complete bitch. Mind you, I am rarely this harsh about any employee of a business, especially on Yelp. She was definitely one of the rudest people I've encountered this year. No doubt. She makes me never want to return to this Post Office. At the end of the transaction, I told her to mind her manners and not yell at customers. She got very defensive and cheeky. I guarantee that she and her employees were mocking me as I left. How? Because she was gossiping while I was there. How professional. I'm not telling you to avoid this Post Office (or maybe I am). I am simply sick of encountering people like her who show their dislike of their jobs. They look bored out of their wit's end, they quickly blame the customers, they have short fuses. So my company used to have an insurance policy where all prescriptions had to be received via mail order. Because I'm aware that the postal service can be painfully slow I would always order my stuff at least 3 weeks in advance of then I needed them because there are some things that you really MUST take on a daily basis (like birth control) if you want them to work. So I order my drugs and about a week later I get that familiar orange slip in my mailbox telling me that I have a package to pick up from this post office. I go down there, wait in a giant line, and hand them my orange slip to get the package. Fifteen minutes go by, and someone emerges to tell me that it's not there. They say the mail carrier might still have it and to try back tomorrow. I ask for my orange slip back and leave. The next day I go back. Wait for about 10 minutes this time, and am told that there's no package. And appallingly I'm also told that maybe there never was a package. What?? I tell them that obviously there was since my mail carrier had to fill out the orange slip I'm holding! I explain to them that this package contains medication and that I really need it. They give me a phone number and tell me to call to see if they've found it the next day. When I call they say they still can't find it and I again explain that it's medication and if they still can't find it I'm going to have the package resent. They tell me to wait a day and call back again. So I do, and still no package. I tell them it's medication that I need and I'm having it resent since they seem to have lost this one. I call the prescription place and ask for them to resend the medication since I actually need it. I tell them what happened, and since they want to make sure I'm not scamming them ask for some proof of my story. I give them the phone number of the post office. They call me back and tell me that the post office says that they never received the package in the first place. They wouldn't admit that they lost it! Needless to say at that point I almost went postal. I had the meds shipped to my office and it's been over 18 months since they lost this package... it's never been delivered. read more

Every time I'm here there's a huge line and only one or two people actually working. After waiting in line for nearly half an hour I was told they do not process passports despite the USPS website saying they do. They have no idea when they might or if they ever will. This place is an unprofessional nightmare. Phone is always busy, you will die of old age waiting in lines, and the best part? Nobody knows why my mail has magically stopped being delivered. Not one single clue. How about you do your job and figure it out you insufferable twit? You take the good, You take the bad, You take them both and There you have... the Rogers Park Post Office. I have had some horrendous experiences. I have also had incredibly kind, helpful and caring people assist me with my needs. My latest venture was to expedite my passport reapplication. I was not about to mess with the lines downtown knowing I have that thrill waiting for me when I deal with certain embassies. I walked in the door and shuffled over to the end of the line that was about to go OUT the exit door. Two, two, poor people were stuck waiting on this line of impatient customers. There was no one working the passport desk, so I inquired with a woman who was trying to direct traffic. She replied that only one of the clerks could deal with that. OK, no problem. My bad. I let it get to this point, I could wait a bit (or an hour or two as it could turn out). One woman was zipping right along. The passport goddess was working with a family who had filled out no paperwork and had screaming kids. Lucky her. My line friends and I were trading life stories like we had sucked down 4 or 5 martinis and things were starting to get enjoyable. Time was flying by. Before we knew it we were at the front of the line and the screaming kid family was close to being finished. My needs were handled professionally and courteously. I paid my cash and was able to go home knowing my stuff would be back in time for my VISA applications. They need more help at this office. There is no denying the fact. The staff that was working on this day, and others that I have been in have been helpful. They are just way overloaded. read more

Don't come here unless you can spend over an hour of your day dealing with this place. It's 8 am, the line is around the corner and there is ONE postal worker helping. No wonder they're going out of business. AND if you are picking up a piece of mail BE SURE to bring a piece of mail with your current address on it even though the form says to only bring a valid ID. I had 2 forms of ID with me but that didn't matter. The worst business model without a concern for people's time & efforts. If you can find a local establishment that offers USPS services, go there instead. I recommend Lincoln Park Market - there's actually parking and the line moves efficiently (and they're helpful). read more

Fantastic customer service! I missed a delivery yesterday, used the online rescheduling tool to have the package delivered today. I go downstairs today, but nothing's there. That's not good. I want this package today, so I call up the post office, and the person I speak to explains that my regular carrier was out today, and spends ten minutes looking for my package to make sure the replacement carrier got it. Sure enough, it's sitting on a shelf in the post office. "How long will you be home?" he asks. Two more hours, I tell him. "Give me thirty minutes," he replies. And sure enough, thirty minutes later, there is someone at my door with my package. I'm pretty sure it's the guy I spoke to on the phone. If that's not awesome customer service, I don't know what is. read more

Last time I was there, people started joking in the very long line about how "they can't handle the mail and now they're going to manage health care?" The laziness of the staff here is astounding, they have an excuse for everything, as long as the end result involves them being able to get nothing done about issues, be it lost in-coming mail, lost out-going mail, finding out what happened to mail with a tracking number showing it is in the post office, no matter what, they know nothing. Sergeant Schultz couldn't compete with this lot. Calling there is pointless, and amazingly the person you last to whom you spoke, who swore blind they would call you back, never works there again. Worst experience ever with this location. Our company received mail only 2 times last week and yesterday (surprise!) again there was no delivery. (So, essentially we have not had mail delivery or pick up in 5 "business" days.) I have called no fewer than 15 times and the phone rings and eventually disconnects. On my 4th try this morning, someone picked up and by someone, I mean a person who, after asking for her name several times, identified herself as Patrice (doubtful that is her name). She would not answer me why our mail was not delivered, nor did she even attempt to offer an excuse or resolve to fix the situation. She was unpleasant, unhelpful and a miserable disgrace to the USPS and in the end, hung up on me. We have had some great carriers over the past years including Vanessa (who told us her route was being changed). This was OK because our "new" carrier would be Michael whom we really liked in the past. But NOW...apparently we do not have a carrier since no one has been here in several days. This is unconscionable...the taxpayers are paying for what.....?? read more

Absolutely terrible service. Cancelled TWO passport appointments on me with no more than 25 minutes notice. I was already on my way, as it is a 20 minute commute + the 10 minutes extra to be early as requested. I was finally able to get rescheduled (through the terrible website) and unfortunately my bus was 12 minutes late. This dropped me a block away at 10:30, and I showed up at the post office at 10:33 out of breath and obviously hurried. Immediately told that they had called my name and cancelled my appointment to move on to others. The post office was entirely empty except for myself and the desk employee, but she shrugged me off and told me to find another appointment. Obviously will not be returning after attempting to get my passport here three times. read more

I have the best letter carrier in the world - Paul - today, I met on him the street and he took a return package for me. This reliieved me of a bus trip to the post office. When I was a fire victim, Paul was there with change of address cards. After a real bad letter carrier (we didn't know if he did drugs, or that his mother did drugs when she was pregnant with him), Paul was and continues to be a good carrier. I also have had no problems with this post offce. I love the clerk with the super long nails. All the clerks seem to work fast...sometimes slowed by customers who have a hard time understanding USPSese. My only real complaint about this post office is that once they ran out of Bart Simpson stamps. read more

For some reason, this location only ever has one person working out front at a time. Even when the line is out the door, there is only one person. But that's not why I'm giving them 1 star. They have a phone, which you are told to call if you have questions, and NO ONE EVER ANSWERS. It just rings and rings and rings until eventually the ringer gets tired of being the hardest working thing at the post office and switches to a busy signal.
