2 months I have been trying to get packages. They told me I had to fill out a slip letting the carrier know to deliver to me. Didn't happen. I have a picture of the man delivering mail to the box and they say he does not deliver. I lost two packages because of this. I paid $194 for 6 months of mail box service AND THEY STILL CANT PUT IT IN MY BOX.. It says they have it held because they could NOT deliver it. The lady at the front is the meanest most unkind lady EVER. Now I spent my EnTIRE hour lunch trying to find my package that says it is delivered and still NO package. the lady refused to tell me when the postmaster will be in. So I will be back at 9 am in the morning to get this straightened out...... What is wrong with the PO on Brookings???? if I could give this Post Office zero stars I would. consistently rude staff members at the counter. And I don't buy it that "they do their best"- no they do not! It's not that difficult to be kind or professional. Mail delivery person consistently would send my packages back or never deliver them with a notice saying "go pick up at the branch" for no reason. One reason given was my letter box was full (previous tenant's mail) but if it is a box take it to the residence's door which was free of all deterrents. IDK if this is poor ethics, laziness or they hate the job. Never ever seen anything like this. if you can go to Crescent City PO everyone in that town loves their post office staff who are cheerful and helpful each and every time I've visited there. The old lady at the counter is really rude and unprofessional as it gets. She has no place in customer service. Went in to get a po box and from the second I walked up to the counter she was super short and extremely rude to me. Telling me they didn't have any available after I was told to come back and they would be. It's OK if they aren't available but why be mean or rude? Hope she learns to like herself so she doesn't have to act like that to people. read more

Mailed 2 boxes 3day priority going south. You would think Brookings postal would send it to smith river nope they didn't...they're either lazy or slow. I pd for three days but now it's going to take four days to get there. I should've known better n drive to smith river!!!!! read more

Get new staff, fire everyone there they don't care about their job, are unprofessional and are extremely rude. How is it that my package arrives and they tell my that my package has a counterfeit label and they can not give it to me unless we pay them then we can have it? Which makes no sense. If it is counterfeit would there need to be an investigation on why and how? Zenni Optical eye glasses arrived the day of Thanksgiving, I kept going daily & I was told by staff members including the manager that my package was put in one of the 400 partial boxes. & As I kept going Daily I was told that the staff members and the manager would look for my glasses and give me a call to update me. Never updated me, This never occurred, 3 weeks later I was told by the manager that he was sorry someone took my package we're human we make mistakes & they're not liable for anything that gets lost or stolen. I was very disappointed to find this out 3 weeks later because it was my only gift (I cannot see without glasses) , & even though they knewwhere the package was, & who received it nothing was done. Hands down, the worst USPS location I have ever lived near!!! Rarely is there more than 1 worker in the office with a long line of people waiting for ever, and the worker is rude and condescending! Packages take 2-4 times longer to be delivered than UPS, and have had multiple packages say delivered, yet never were... Some of the laziest delivery drivers, never once have I had a package with "LEAVE ON FRONT DOOR" note on it actually left at my door step, god forbid they actually do their job and get off their a$$ and out the vehicle... I feel like one of them is disgruntled and stealing packages yet saying they were delivered. I put up a surveillance camera on my mailbox and have proof the last 2 "delivered" packages never were... will not be using USPS in this area ever again! UPS for everything from now on. read more

I sent a package, from California, to an old co-worker and friend, now living in Brookings. I have been checking the tracking daily. The package has been at the post office since Friday, July 2, that is the date on my receipt, for expected deliver. Today Is Wednesday, July 7, and she still has not received her package . I spoke with her, and she told me this happens quite often. I'm shocked. In my 60+ years of writing letters and sending gifts, the USPS has never let me down. This is inexcusable. read more

I turned in my PO Box keys on 12/28/23 with proper forms inc request for rural delivery. I am only 2 mi from the PO but have yet to get my mail. I get my prescriptions in the mail but now I must pay out of pocket at Fred's as they were never received. I'm anxious as I'm waiting on tax info not to mention cards sent to me by relatives across the US and Europe over the holidays. I constantly check every few days to see if they're holding anything. April and Jennie have been most helpful but the angry red haired clerk couldn't be bothered. I've moved across the states, east to west, 16 times and have never had this problem. I have lived in many towns and dealt with many post offices and have never experienced the level of incompetence that this post office continues to display. I as well as several other friends have been lied to multiple times about packages that are sitting there waiting with time sensitive materials and experienced extreme difficulties getting said packages from the post office. Also have heard of two different situations of them throwing mail away and hiding mail to avoid confrontations. Scary stuff going on here.. read more

Took over a wk to finally call me & what an AWFUL attitude. I have talked to everybody but God & no one will help me. Tried find missing mail, tracking of course, filed cust asst claim, talked to my post master, counter clerks here & there & was referred on two occasions to dept of consumer affairs. Wow. Being rural we order a lot of items online for our business. For some reason Our carrier won't deliver to our door and just leaves the orange slips in our mailbox. I'm stuck in 20 minute lines almost daily just to receive packages that should be delivered to the house. While I appreciate staffing issues in a small town, you'd think after however many decades this lost office would've figured it out. Not good. We recently moved to Brookings, paid for a PO Box and never got mail - but there was a curious little plastic thing in our Box that said "Do Not Remove" - so we left it there for a week, then asked the front desk what it was. It turned out that it indicated our box was closed! So we got an apology and an assurance that our mail would now be delivered - but still now mail for another week, so we mailed to ourselves first class "test envelope" that never arrived. Back we go AGAIN to the front desk. It turned out that the person who processed our original paperwork had NOT FINALIZED IT - and for over two weeks ALL OF OUR MAIL was returned to sender marked "Box Closed". GEEZE!! Someone needs to shake that place up. I'm sending a copy of this to Ms Megan J. Brennan, Postmaster General, in Washington DC, as suggested by another reviewer. If there was a lower number or a minus number, I would choose it. There has been consistent thievery of packages I order with my jewelry making pendants, gems, and findings. I cannot tell you how many packages have gone missing, first from my post box, (always the same person delivering, protected by the post mistress). Then the same person was at the counter and took my necklace going to an American destination. The package never arrived. I tracked it and it never left the truck. The same agent who delivered my "missing" PO box packages took this package. Needless to say, it is the only missing package sent out in seven years from the Brookings PO. Now there are five packages missing that were delivered to the Brookings PO, but not to my address. Tracking the packages, they seem to be lost. This same agent answered the phone when I was trying to get the PO to track my packages. Total of missing items, now about $1000.--. Somehow the thief learned to go through my packages and find the ones with the customs stamp and in the same month from the end of last year throu 2/14 about $3000.00 of merchandise I ordered for making jewelry for my Etsy website has "vanished." I have a locked box outside, so it only has to be delivered to my post receptacle to be safe. Anyone else missing any items from Brookings PO. Long lines, the people at the counter are rarely in a good mood, and it's slow. You have to plan a trip to the post office! There's no walking in and getting a package, the line takes at least 20-40 minutes every time I go here! I've never seen more then two people working at the counter. Even with a long line.
