Been here before. Staff is familial and nice, and jaded at the same time. You can tell they're used to a haphazard system. Short and sweet: At 3:30pm, with a line 5, no 6, no 7, no 8 people long and continuing to lengthen, the sole person manning the front decided to take his break and left one woman by herself to handle everything. Packing materials are hit and miss in the disorganized display area (the norm here). I had to ask for a specific-sized flat-rate box since it was nowhere on the floor. After I package my items, I'm told I must repackage them in another box of the same exact dimensions that is not labeled flat-rate because the outside flap couldn't go down flush. Argh. This latter complaint shall go to USPS, not this branch. I will try to avoid this branch for the future. read more

Came in this morning and was attended to pretty quickly. I asked if it was possible to cancel the shipment of a package I mailed the other day. The little Asian woman behind the counter was rude and said no. Her facial expression and voice was so stern. Later I called a USPS number and was told that I could definitely cancel the package I had mailed. I suggest hiring someone else who is less rude and more knowledgable about her job. read more

The staff is nice which makes the rest less irritating. Yet, my goal for a trip to the post office is to get the package from point A to point B. This office looses a lot of mail. Also, even when the line is long, there is way to much chatter between employees, and not the chatter that has to do with getting clients taken care of. If I could give a lesser rating, I would despite in the past having received quick and efficient service here. I was greeting on Saturday morning by all three employees yelling and screaming as I entered the premise. The issue was that I had my fully certified service dog by my side. He was calm and obedient. The employees claimed that they were afraid for the other customers safety. There was another service dog barking at that time as a result of these post office employees screaming. How unprofessional that their personal fears governed their behavior towards us. Not one of the customers at that time in the post office were afraid and indeed attitude was one of disbelief that government employees could act in such a way. It was a most distasteful experience which I hope will not be repeated. read more

I will recommend to Ebay NOT TO USE US POSTAL SERVICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! because their delivery people leave packages unattended on the doorsteps, which means that THEY WANT OTHER PEOPLE TO HAVE ACCESS TO ITEMS BERKELEY CITIZENS BUY ONLINE AND HAVE IT SHIPPED by US Postal Service. I think they now decided whether You should receive package that You ordered online and paid for it. I visited today....the power was down....everyone who works there was angry... I know they have to deal with hundreds people, but every costumer didn't have any idea what was happening. I had hear really angry voice"WE ARE CLOSED". I asked them their phone number, so I can check later, if the power is back on. Here tore the paper, while he was writing down the phone number...that angry... I really don't think I did something wrong..., but I had to get that kind of service. This is absolutely the worst possible post office. They have lost multiple packages and due to their employees not filling out the cards correctly I am unable to track packages. The customer service is horrifying. I urge all of you to choose Fed Ex or UPS. Save yourself the headache, they won't get the packages anyway. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. NEVER EVER have i been treated so rudely in a post office before in my life. Now I understand the meaning of "going postal" I waited in line for over a half hour because some woman was on the phone with her credit card company that wouldn't charge a 3k money order to it. So i finally get up to the employee, Alma Beltran-Lewis, who informs me that I should put my envelope in one of the flat rate boxes instead and I would save money. I unfortunately left my wallet in the car so I had to go get it and then wait in line AGAIN for another 10 minutes. I finally get another teller and have everything ready to go (box addressed etc..) but need to tape up the bottom. I tape the bottom and then Alma Beltran-Lewis tells her co-worker to make me stand aside and finish up the taping. I say it is only going to take one more second to tape up the top but she insists that I need to move, all the while, she is ignoring her own customer to insist on this. When I was in her line earlier, she never mentioned to me that I could go back in front of the line, but she did tell other people that they could do this. She starts arguing with me that I need to step aside and tape up the box. I have already finished taping it and am now glaring at her and tell her to mind her own business. I am not even her customer. She tells her manager that she can not deal with me being in the vicinity of her and to stop staring at her. I tell her that it's a free country and I can look wherever I chose. She continues to bitch at me. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Even her manager shakes his head at me like I started all this, when all I needed was like 2 seconds to tape up the top of the box after I had already waited in line for over 40 minutes!!!! I will never go to this office again. So ghetto. Save your sanity and go to the emeryville office which has much nicer employees. read more

I walk in. Four people are waiting in line. I get in line, and 15 minutes later no one has been helped and there are five more people in line behind me. There are two employees, hanging out behind the counter, not visibly doing anything. No "I'll be with you shortly" or "Thanks for your patience", just la de da as I wonder if I put enough change in my parking meter. read more

I missed my very important certified mail at home. I got a slip saying my item is ready to pick up after 5/15 at this post office. I came in on the 19th Tuesday. Ali Garcia the manager went back and checked for about 15mins. Came back told me it's not here and wrote down a name and two numbers. So I called right in front of her. One number is busy tone the other just rings and no voice mail or nothing. So I asked her what is up with that? She just told me there is nothing she can do but me keep calling. I'm like this is a certified mail which mean important and it shouldn't not able to track it. She started being really rude and saying there is nothing she can do and walk to the back and never came back. So guess what? There is happen to have a 1800 number u can call. And guess what I just located my item by just talking to a Robot on the phone by telling IT my address. As simple as that and the fact that she is the manager there she should know all this. She got extremely poor customer service. No idea about her tool and system. Not able to help out the local customer. She wouldn't even qualify for a ROSS job in my book! read more

This post office is horrible! I've lived in the area for all of four months and already had to deal with their awful service several times. At least three times they've failed to deliver a package to me and left me one of their little notes saying to pick it up. I don't understand why they do this other than incompetence, because A) the packages could usually fit in my mailbox, and B) I've seen other people's packages left on top of the mailboxes, which would be fine because they are indoors and our building is locked. When I've tried to pick up a package, the employees there always seem not to know where the package is. Today I tried to pick up a package after receiving one of those notes, when it said specifically to pick it up on 12/1 after 11 AM. I went in at around 2 PM, and they couldn't find my package. The workers there seemed to have no idea what was going on. The guy assisting me said that it was probably on the truck for redelivery, and couldn't explain to me why that would happen when I got a note telling me to pick it up. He told me to come back if it isn't there on Monday, and then asked when I needed the package. I told him Monday (it's Saturday). He looked confused, and then said "Okay, bye!", as if to get me to leave. It's as if there's no internal communication going on at all. My packaged did not get redelivered today, and I did not get another note, so apparently my package is in some kind of parcel purgatory right now. On top of that, I've had things stolen from my mail (which has never happened to me anywhere else I've lived). I once had a syringe (no needle) sent to me so I could feed my bird some medication. Instead of receiving the syringe, I got an empty envelope with a syringe-shaped indentation and the corner ripped off. That's a felony, if I understand correctly, though it wouldn't surprise me if the workers at that post office are on drugs considering how they do their jobs. I wish I could go to another branch, but all my mail goes through here, so unfortunately I'm forced to deal with them. read more

Prepare to have the worst post office experience every time you enter this place. I'm still getting mail from someone who apparently died over 10 years ago to my po box after countless explanations. Customer service is a joke and wait times are ridiculous. For the amount of folks this office is staffed with I'm not clear on why the line could be over 10 pp and there is only one desk offical...put extra money in your parking meter just in case...the transit cops run this street often. read more

The location is on a main street and after 4 or 5pm it vets pretty backed up and parking becomes very limited. During the early afternoon theres two workers but for some reason when it comes time for the mail rush there is only 1 person working with a long line. So come early if you can for easy parking easy travel time and better customer service. More on usps: I wasn't home to sign for my package so the mail carrier left a note. I filled out the note for redelivery and placed it where my mail man could see it and i also did so online just in case. 4 days later i still haven't received my package and the phone number on yelp is disconnected and i sent an email to usps but never got a response. I went to the actual store where i was helped by a friendly woman who looked in the back, but couldn't find it. She searched more after hearing her open a few doors she found it! Its like usps never even attempted to redeliver my package. Word to wise, if you have a notice that your package could not be delivered because no one was home to sign for the package, instead of redelivery just go to the post office and pick it up the next day. read more

This is VERY weird. Some months ago I looked this PO location up on Yelp and found numerous reviews. There were 20+. I wrote a review. Now I look and there are only 9, my review is gone, as are the many, many reviews that stated how this PO regularly "loses" mail and packages are routinely not delivered. How can this be? Where did those (very honest) reviews go, Yelp? This is creepy. Why am I looking here after writing my own review months ago? Because after my most recent trip to this PO, I wanted to see who else had written truthful reviews about their unpleasant experiences here. I have called the regional customer service office about this place. I have called the postmaster general. I have spoken with some person in Washington DC. It was only after that last call that my mail started to be delivered somewhat regularly. However, I sent out many cards from that PO over a week ago, and many people have yet to receive them. This is just the latest occurrence of mail I've sent (and paid for the service) that did not arrive at its destination. I went in a couple months ago and one of the clerks left the counter when it was my turn, and did not return until a line of 5+ people formed behind me. Her coworker did not know why the person had left. When she returned she claimed to not have seen me. Though I had been standing directly in front of her. Yes, this is a true recounting of events. No, it is not embellished. I assume she did that because she knew I had made all those aforementioned phone calls. I've lived in this area for a bit over a year. I have watched the mail carrier go to my mailbox and leave, and then find a notice for package that the carrier never even attempted to deliver. I've been told by the manager of that branch that delivering packages by (our now former carrier) was "not his thing." And I've been told that they don't have packages that are shown online as at their location. Several neighbors have told me they receive mail only a couple times a week. We have gone 5 days at my building with nothing, then suddenly get a big pile postmarked a week before though sent from within the bay area. This place is a disaster. It is a poster child for those that believe the USPS should be shut down. Surely it demonstrates why the USPS is going bankrupt. Though I assume its workers are doing well, as those "missing" packages must be going somewhere. Avoid at all costs. read more

Workers taking their lunch break when 30 people are in line, they rarely have stamps in stock and when I ask they say "Gee, our manager is really bad about ordering stamps". I've been living in this area and using this posy office for 6 years. It is absolutely the worst post office I have ever had the misfortune of having to use. They take longer than any other P.O. and they regularly lose mail. I'm writing in frustration today because they managed to lose yet another package of mine. I am actually not even surprised at all. This office sucks!!!!! I was expecting a package to be delivered on a sat. my mail person usually comes in the morning but this day they decided to come at 7pm. I get automatic shipments from this company every month and the mailman usually leaves it at my door. For some idiotic reason they decided to leave a door tag and say it was available Monday. I went in Monday and they couldn't find the package and they said MAYBE its out for delivery. I then go track my package and it says it was delivered sat. Mind you, sat. was when they left the door tag! Why leave a door tag AND mark it as delivered but leave no package?!?! I called the 800 number immediately and they were confused too because apparently they were seeing TWO delivery scans!!! One scan was on sat. and one was on that Mon. Soo I waited 24hrs for the callback they promised and guess what, no call! I called them back the next day to give them a little more time and they gave me the number to the managers desk. I spoke with someone who was extremely helpful and said he'd call me back in a few hours... No call again!!! I call again the next day and spoke with another person who was the "manager" (someone with an accent this time so it was definitely more than one person I've spoken with) and he's arguing with me saying it says delivered and the mailman said he delivered it. I had to explain to him that THAT was the issue cause it wasn't delivered and since its my word against the mailman that means I'm wrong?!?! The mailman gets on the phone and says he doesn't leave door tags and had an attitude with me. I explained to him that it would've been someone else who was working that route and that his manager put him on the phone. I told him to let them know it could've been someone else and I didn't blame him. I just wanted them to figure out who was delivering that day and maybe they would remember. I was just trying to get my package before they returned it to the sender! Anyways I was able to go home on my lunch real quick and happened to see the mail man, i let him know the company was sending a new package to replace the one that was missing and i asked him to just leave it and he refused!!! Mind you I work two jobs and the post office is closed by the time i get off and they always deliver when I'm at work. I begged him to just leave the packages like they ALWAYs did and he told me never again! And they wonder why they're losing business!!!! Theres wayyy too many complaints like this.... i called at 5:20 pm to see what time they closed. even though they close at 5:00 pm, someone answered. i told her i was looking for a mail box that picked up after 6:00. she said there was one in oakland, but that if it was just a drop off, i could come by and ring the side door bell. i drove up there right away and she took my letter, telling me the truck had not left yet. i was pleasantly surprised to get such accomodating service at a post office, no less! read more
