I have never reviewed a PO. But here goes- in all the PO's of this area the customer service here is the best! There are two really nice ladies, one who is named Star and she is a star and a gentleman. They are so nice, and never seem frazzled. First of all, the guy working the counter was all alone.. But REGARDLESS, he absolutely killed it. Speedy, expedient, polite, professional and absolutely crushed anything that came his way. Between helping other customers resolve an issue to collecting package slips and getting a line of people between 5-8 people their package/ and out the door and/or getting something mailed out in under a couple of minutes. And not just once but multiple times as the line would form again. While I was getting some things filled out and ready to mail out, he was super helpful and attentive, all while giving every customer the same attention. You're not allowed to ask questions there, you just get waste hours of your life while being patronized and punished. It's garbage. Straight up garbage. App said ready for pickup on Friday morning. Get told Fri afternoon to come back Sat morning. Sat morning was there then again got told to come back Sat afternoon. Came back Sat afternoon just to be told to come back on Monday. It takes longer for that box to go the 100ft from the loading dock to my box than it did the 1500mile trip to get here. read more

I don't understand how other towns have mail and packages delivered directly to your house and they can't even get your packages in to the lockers that are in the same building. That would eliminate the problem of 20 people waiting in line pick up their package. But on top of that they don't care how long it takes, or even deal with customers in the order they came. I've lived in Avon since 1991 and seen the post office move from Avon Center to across the street and become its own facility. Yes, I've been in some of those extraordinary lengthy lines which normally means extraordinarily long waits, right? Its not rocket science! It used to be very frustrating for me because I moved from an area that had door to door delivery service. Avon DOES NOT offer door to door service since they don't have sidewalks. Therefore it causes a ridiculous bottleneck at the post office itself and with all the 2nd home owners who are higher net worth, they get TONS of solicitation offers PLUS they get tons of packages sent for when they are coming into town, thinking the system works the same as it does in their city. I understand why they think like that however this facility isn't set up for that. Its the US Government Postal Service who is mismanaging this system, not the local workers. The local workers get the bad end of the stick and even though they deal with frustrated and sometime mean people. They do the best they can with what they have. Not to mention, There is a massive shortage of staffing in the valley and being short staffed does not help. I can tell you that Ron, the manager is there at 6 am going through Amazon, Ebay, plus other vendors packages that were errantly shipped to the post office verses being sent via UPS or Fed Ex. Often because the vendors don't understand our situation in Avon AND the sometimes residents don't want to pay for the upgraded service to have it delivered directly to their home. Ron busts his ass to take care of people. I appreciate their efforts and hope the US Government Post Service people figure out how to address this situation. For a city this size, and with no carriers, they should have every window open during their open hours. It is not uncommon for each transaction to take 5-10 minutes long, with an average wait of 15-20 minutes to get any parcel that doesn't fit in your box. I'm blown away that this post office is allowed to operate like this. read more

This Post Office is the definition of INSANE! I arrived just after the service counter closed for the day. There is a very large open lobby area with thousands of PO Boxes, WITHOUT a stamp vending machine ANYWHERE! That's just mind boggling!! 12 years I've dealt with this post office and it's the worst. Always scanning packages as "delivered" 24-48+ hours before they actually deliver to your box. All so their stats on delivery time seem fast and on time but really it's always late. No home delivery but everywhere else in the valley does. read more

Eden is the most wonderful person you could hope for at a Post Office. That said, the older woman (don't know her name) is absolutely horrible at her job. She treats customers like children and speaks down to anyone and everyone even though she is the incompetent one. This post office is the worst! Packages show up as delivered but it could take them days and at times weeks before you see them. On multiple occasions I've had packages lost or sent back because they've been sitting there so long but when I've inquired they're "lost or can't find them. On one occasion my package was lost for three months before it was returned to the sender. I even filed a claim through them because I couldn't get a refund because it showed that it had been delivered to me. When you finally get the slip to pickup you package it is a given that you'll be waiting 30+ minutes. There has been times where I've had to wait more than an hour. Unfortunately in Avon this is the only way to receive your mail and we all have to pay for this type of service, how sad. read more

My package has been marked delivered for a week now and I have no slip to pick it up, so in their eyes, it's not there.. the lady that works in there is the furthest thing for a helping employee. I have never ever been so discriminated and spoken to/serviced like such trash in a USPS facility like I have today. I was trying to get a P.O. Box opened because Vail is a mountain town and all mailing is services from the only USPS location in Avon. I was serviced by an elder Caucasian woman who was despicable to me. She made me cry 3 times in front of her staff and others waiting in line. I was nothing but polite to her from the beginning, I am the customer here I have never opened P.O. Box before and not familiar with its procedures. Not only was she delusional and incoherent in explaining the steps of how to open a PO Box but she continually yelled at me and made me feel las if I did something wrong as if I had to automatically know the procedures but I clearly don't which is why I was at the post office from the moment it opened at 9am today. I was utterly scared to even ask any questions because every time I tried she was irritated evil and angry tempered, even others saw how she was treating me. As a customer, are we supposed to know all the rules and procedures of how a usps facility operates? Or how to open a PO Box? Does customer service and the happiness of customers even matter for USPS? If so, you should take serious and urgent measures with this employee and all employees at this location. Why are they even working here if they are going to be snappy and angry with each customer? Do they not get paid decently to work? It's like they are volunteering and I was wasting their time. I am a paying customer who paid $34 to open P.O. Box for 3 months because I came to Vail temporarily over the summer months to work. The elder emplyees treatment of me was so utterly foul that when she finally gave me the keys to my P.O. Box I left the stand crying which a customer next to me saw. This customer came after me, consoled me and showed me how to properly address P.O. Box and where my box was located. This customer even told me that everyone in this post office location is foul and angry and they have a nasty reputation throughout Avon. Does usps really want this type of reputation over their head? Just the Avon usps facility is the only one here doesn't give them right to abuse it's customers as if we have no other choice! The elder employee who serviced me absolutely discriminated against me for reasons of race, age and gender. What im scared about the most is that I don't even fully trust this emplyee will do what she promised, to properly process my P.O. Box paperwork probably because she's angry with her life and decided I was perfect target to unleash her rage. This is easily one of the WORST post offices I've ever encountered. The staff is very rude and unhelpful as they tend to talk down to their customers. They've sent numerous of me and my friends packages back the day they arrived. We all have a PO Box here, yet we can't get anything sent here or they send it back. I had to relocate my mail to the Post Office in Gypsum CO, because the Post Office in Avon CO messed up my Petition with USCIS by returning my mail to the USCIS office. I heard of numerous instances of PO Box owners mails being Lost, Returned to sender, showing up late, being placed in the wrong PO Box, delivered months after being sent. I never knew I would become victim, because of my mail being returned it cost me thousands of dollars to filed the petition allover again, I find it ridiculous and unprofessional to received other mail from USCIS by the most important one with the greatest impact on your case was returned to the office. read more

Worst post office ever! My son lives in Avon, and 2 weeks ago he went to re-up his PO box. Told he didn't have enough ID. Went back the next day, and told everything was fine. Then I sent his Christmas packages. They are being returned to me because the nasty woman said the nice woman didn't check a correct box on the form. That's their fricken job! He has had a post office box there 4 years now. So maybe by mid-January he can get his Christmas cookies and gifts. I absolutely love the woman that works at this post office. Not sure what her name is but make sure you get her or the guy with glasses or else you will get the worst service. The Mexican guy that works there is an ass and completely lazy. This morning I went to pick up a package that said it was going to be shipped back and yesterday the girl said I could come pick it up and so when I got there I told him what she said and gave him my name and he didn't even leave the desk to check before saying "it's not back here" thankfully, I left my number with the woman and she called me as I was staring into this a** holes face and walked my package up to the front so it didn't get shipped back. Just terrible customer service and they don't even care. I was told they are "too high volume of a post office" to deliver mail. (Not sure what that even means). I had mail for work and personal use mailed to my hotel, I wasn't aware they didn't deliver mail. Instead of putting it in the hotels PO box they simply had it returned to sender. I went Wed and Thur to check on my packages, finally on Friday I went there again, this is when the lady told me they had all been sent back and that they "don't have time to put packages in the hotels PO box if it is not on the shipping address." With mail getting shipped to a hotel they should realize that people staying there are from out of town and don't know that they don't deliver mail. Further, if they had told me that the first day I went in I could of had the mail shipped overnight to the PO box, but because they didn't tell me until Friday I had no time to get mail shipped to me by Mon. I travel all the time for work and have never heard of a post office that doesn't deliver mail. read more

They're probably one of the busiest ones in the area and the two women that work there are always kind and professional. I know they have to deal with a lot of crap and they're entitled to an eye roll here and there with the entitled people of the area. But for the most part, great experience. So I had a piece of artwork get mailed first class, it was clearly marked "photo document holder" and when I went to pick up my parcel I found it crinkled wet and folded twice! Things happen, but when I asked about it, the manager Nick couldn't have cared less. He was unapologetic and told me there was nothing he could do. "If it folds, we stuff it in" no apology no promise of better service next time. His customer service was more frustrating then the incident itself. With that Being said, Pauline is absolutely awesome and tries to help anytime I've ever interacted with her. read more

I live in Avon and have a PO Box at this location. I had been expecting a small envelope containing a prescription for a medicine that I need to take daily. The sender had paid extra for some sort of expedited shipping so I could get it on time and have it filled and ready to go for when I need it. The expected delivery date came and went and I was forced to go 5 days without my medication. I decided to go in on the 4th day after expected delivery. After waiting in line for nearly 30 minutes I was told that express shipping doesn't guarantee date of delivery and that there was nothing they could do, even though I explained that I need my medication. It would've been nice if they had offered to help track it down or call the last post office that had it and tried to find out what the delay was. A little customer service was all I was looking for, considering thats basically what their entire job consists of. I wish I didn't have to give them my money for the PO box but unfortunately mail boxes just don't exist in this area. read more
