However, the communication and proposal turnaround were frustrating enough that I ultimately hired another company. This project involved a damaged elm limb that I was treating as a safety concern. It took multiple phone calls, emails, and follow-ups over several weeks before I received a proposal. Even after the site visit, I had to continue following up before the estimate was sent. In the end, another company matched the pricing, answered my questions promptly, and was able to provide a firm service date sooner, so I moved forward with them. My recommendation to Old Growth would simply be to improve proposal turnaround times and proactive communication. Customers trying to address potential safety issues need timely updates so they can make informed decisions.

Luis kept me well informed when he would start the job and when it was completed, he sent me a video of the final product. When I visited the property, I found that the attention to detail in the bathroom was exceptional. The dining room wall was matched perfectly to the previous color. Their responsiveness during our emergency was awesome. Unfortunately we had to rip out a substantial portion of the room. Their work product was great. Their pricing was not clear. I got a bill at the end of the day that was insanely high for the work completed. It was explained to me that that is because it was "insurance rates." I am not filing a claim with my insurance so I am getting stuck paying unquoted work (during an emergency) at crazy high rates. Again, their emergency response was great. Their work product was exactly what it should have been. I am just very surprised and disappointed at the pricing. Even recognizing I was in a bind and it was going to cost me, their pricing was simply not fair. Getting a bill after the fact, nothing I can do now except let others know if you aren't making an insurance claim, be prepared for "insurance rates." Dumb of me not to get pricing clearly stated prior but sitting in a wet room with a burst pipe makes you hurry along!
