One of my favorite places to get a sandwich in the Beulah/Frankfort area. Such quick service but it's always busy. Good for sit down meal or to go. Always open when most other restraints in downtown Beulah are closed. I've tried their breakfast options, their sandwiches, and the desserts they have on display and they're all good. We are in the service industry and know what it means to be generous and have repeat customers. I'll describe our food which was very overpriced for the food you get in return. An avocado toast is one slice of toast with a thin spread of avocado and a sprinkle feta cheese for over $15. The markup is not fair. How much does a quarter of an avocado and a piece of toast cost ? My daughter had a 14 ounce Matcha smoothie which was $10. I haven't paid that much even in New York City. My spinach and feta omelette had merely a sprinkle of feta. Either they are running out of food or they truly just want to stretch it without giving back to the customers what they pay for. Writing this is a fair review because we have been eating here traditionally for many years but this year it just turned bad. So sorry won't be coming back. read more

This has to be one of the best coffee and breakfast spots on the West Side of the Lower Peninsula. The coffee is was amazing, and the sandwiches were even better. It's nice to sit down and enjoy a breakfast without a ton of people, but being so close to the touristy areas makes it an easy escape. read more

I enjoyed visits that I have made, once with friends and once by myself. I am a big fan of breakfast food, so there are lots of choices on the menu for me. And I am a fan of chai. Good food and super nice people. My only "dislikes" are the wait times in the summer time (post-COVID is hard for almost every establishment) and that the syrup bottles aren't always cleaned. Crowded no wiggle room layout bad design inside, not conducive to flow. Several places to look up to spot the food specials (neither good nor bad). Paper menus (thats fine too). Order at counter (not from your seated table) (which is ok too). The self help coffee & drink counter was right in the way of incoming customers. Not good. There was no room at indoor tables, so we were fine with outside seating, but there were no condiment caddies on those tables; so when we got our food, I asked a seated customer if I could borrow his table's ketchup and jam before I took my order outside. Wife insisted on a condiment caddy, which the employee resisted ! Wife promised to give it back. Unbelievable. Cashier forgot to offer my wife choice of toast / pancake. Kitchen messed up our our order. Gave me toast instead of pancakes. Then same employee sounded she was burdened by some other customer (difficult finding her or something). The Irish omlette was listed as having real made corn beef hash. Nope! It was gross canned crap. And omlette was too oily. read more

"Unhurried" would be a generous description of the service, but the food was good. We went early on a Sunday and a took a while to get our breakfast. That said, the corned beef hash was homemade and tasty. My bride's pancakes were light and fluffy. If you're in the mood for a leisurely breakfast, give it a shot. read more

I had the skillet which was great. Only beef would be that it could have used more potatoes, but it was really good. Serve yourself coffee was really good too. This is a cute little restaurant that has a view of Crystal Lake that we found on our way to Sleeping Bear Dunes. It is clean and has a nice atmosphere. The food is good, and staff is friendly. They have had to transition to a cafeteria style concept - you order your food and pay for it at the register, then pick it up when it's ready, then clean off your table when you are done - because of staffing shortages. It's a shame that Covid has bred such widespread laziness amongst the available workforce. To the credit of the staff - they were pleasant and polite despite the understaffing. This small town cafe was a great fix for us! We stopped on our way to sleeping bear dunes for breakfast. We both ordered their breakfast skillet, and it was delicious! Crispy potatoes and plenty of bacon, ham, and sausage. Coffee was okay, very sweet, but did the trick and a reasonable price. We only notched it down a star because the pancakes were rubbery (definitely a cheap mix) and you should expect to wait 30 minutes for food due to low staffing. We recommend going early! read more

This cute little diner is perfect. I always get breakfast at any hour. Today we ordered pancakes with bacon, a cheeseburger, and the breakfast burrito. My pancakes were delicious: soft on the inside and just a little crisp on the outside and edges. We had two specialty coffees which were good. Restaurant had dishes on table and was a little frantic. Our server is super sweet. Despite the sign in the front saying food would take 30-45 min, we got ours in about 15. This little spot is perfectly located for shopping and beach access. The walk up window is also convenient for grabbing coffee or ice cream. Prepare to park on the street or in the public parking lot. read more

Our extended family has a cottage in the Crystal Lake. The family has been coming up here for the last 50 years or so. We were up here from the Kalamazoo area for a weekend after the 4th of July. We stopped in town for the Art Fair and got hungry after walking around. We were surprised to find the place had changed names but still was a small town restaurant. We saw a sign on the door about an expected wait during busy hours but not being in a rush we went in anyway. We were promptly seated and the table cleared. It was pretty busy as most of the tables were filled. Our order was taken and we simply enjoyed our conversation. Sure enough about a 1/2 later our order came just as we ordered them. Everyone was happy with their meal. I really enjoyed the hash browns being thin and crispy. Done all the way through with that great crunch. The eggs and toast were good too. All in all a pleasant experience and good tasting food. There was a 4 page menu with plenty to choose from if you were in the mood. The only reason I gave a 4 star rating was we really didn't have anything out of the ordinary so I can't comment on the other harder to makes dishes. On a trip with friends and staying with a local friend on lake platte.. we were up early and it was the closet open place that offered espresso . I had some of my favorites (and recommend) corn beef hash with eggs (only issue we came back next day with whole I recommend the corn beef hash and second day it was a little lite on corn beef / potato ratio, but still very tasty and eggs over easy cooked perfectly. I also had custom made "smoothie " yogurt , bananas and blueberry's very good!! Nice place quick service and good food!! read more

Cute hole in the wall that seems to have grown past its limits. Came in at lunch rush on a Saturday and got seated within 20 minutes at a dirty table. Host cleaned it but put all the crumbs in our laps or on the ground. Then we sat for a little before being moved to a smaller table where the 5 in my group had to crowd around. Server came about 10 minutes after and took our orders. Then we waited an hour for our food to arrive. The restaurant was fully sat and a table of 10 people smushed into the table we were previously at. They put their order in at the same time as us, so we weren't too surprised on the wait. They were still waiting on food when we left. The staff was definitely overwhelmed with underwhelming personalities. Food was subpar and presented sloppily. The wrap we got fell apart when we removed the paper around it, the BLT lettuce pieces took up the whole plate with mayo all over the top of the bread, but the omelettes were really good. None of our sides came but we walked away full and relatively hunger-satisfied so it all worked out. Wouldn't go back but I think we caught them on an off day so I'd check it out yourself, just maybe not at lunch rush. read more

Today I ordered two cheeses burgers one was ordered red in the middle (medium rare) and one was to have no pink (medium well). Both with cheese and Everything on them! I waited 35 to 40 minutes and when the burgers finally came one was just a plain burger no cheese and the bun but NO toppings but it was cooked properly. The other one came with just pickles and onions, no cheese which both were supposed to be cheese burgers. The second one was cooked well done and Not medium well like ordered. When I told the server she just said it wasn't ordered that way when I specifically told the gentleman on the counter how I wanted both burgers. I relayed that to the server and she did not care she insisted that was the order and thought she was right when I think customers always right. I owned a Bbq restaurant for many years and I NEVER treated my customers like that. I would have taken the food back and cooked them right with the right toppings on them. I've never seen such Rube Customer Service at any restaurants I've been to this is the first, and I will never be returning or recommending them to anyone. read more

Have reviewed this place last year, but thought it would be good to give a fresh review based on today's experience. I called my order in over the phone and it was ready when I arrived. I ordered the Tears of Joy tuna option and it was superb. I am not usually a big fan of tuna, but how they prepare it and what they add to it has me thinking I love tuna now! I was pleasantly surprised at the "overflowing abundance" of the sandwich- it was filled to the brim and spilling out at the sides. It was so much that I ended up being able to get two meals out of it. And though I don't usually like potato chips, I don't know if they make their own or just have a good supplier, but I ended up eating them all as they were delicious. The latte was prepared just like I asked, and was super-satisfying. Whatever coffee drink I've got there has always delivered. Not sure who their coffee supplier is, but I am a fan. I know that finding good help has been hard for a lot of businesses and this one has a lot of young people working for them, yet I have no complaints with the service I received. This is a nice place to stop in for a casual lunch with quality food. They seated our party of 8 very quickly, had a decent kids menu, and a variety of sandwiches, salads, and breakfast items. They had four soups of the day but were sadly out of two of them. They also have gluten free bread but were out of it that day. I had the mandarins cherry chicken salad which was fantastic. They have an extensive espresso menu and my latte was pretty good. But the best reason to go here is because this place used to be called Blue Caribou Bistro but the corporate giant Caribou coffee took them to court to change the name. Really great little place that I found on Yelp. It's like a little restaurant/ice cream shop/coffee house and it's perfect! The waitress was so sweet and she was right on top of things, and there were 8 of us. I ordered a burger and had American fries with it and it was so good! Everyone kept commenting on how good their food was. They serve a small variety of soups and had specials that made me debate getting stuff to go to eat as well. The visit would have been a lot better if we wouldn't have had to wait for 15 minutes to get service. the sign clearly said to seat yourself and they would come to you, so I was a little confused. Once we got a sever, she was nice and did a good job.. But yeah. Also, I have never seen any restaurant or cafe that is so terrible at cleaning off tables. Ursa Major is small, but has great breakfast, lunch (never been here for dinner) and ice cream.
