Pesto & Sundried Tomato - so good, especially the side salad!!
    Catherine S.

Taken by surprise! Popped in here after a visiting the hospital for a quick dinner. The food was very good and tasted fresh. There are great healthy options throughout the whole menu. The side salad with the sandwich was my favorite!!! The mandarin oranges are a perfect addition. We got to try a few cookies. The chocolate chip was my favorite!! The staff were welcoming and friendly. The restaurant was clean and had lots of seating options (high top, regular table) and numerous tables for when it gets busy.

Found a hair in my salad today. I had to stop eating it and throw the whole thing away, which was really disappointing because the food actually tasted good up until that point. I understand mistakes happen, but this is a basic food safety issue and shouldn't be overlooked. Hoping the team pays closer attention to hygiene moving forward. Update: The restaurant reached out and issued a full refund for my order. I appreciate them taking responsibility and resolving the issue quickly. While the experience was concerning, their customer service was responsive. +1 extra star

    Salmon Bowl
    Angeli P.

Everything was good and made to order. We got the salmon bowl with the aioli on the side and the other bowl is a protein bowl. Everything was cooked well, but my salmon was warm-room temp- wish it was hot. The salmon had a slide sweet and savory glaze The protein bowl was made very well and the plate was hot. We also got the kids pizza but my child did not like it as much, but he did enjoy the chicken from the protein bowl. The place is clean and the worker that took our order was very nice. All plates are a fair price and plates are a good size for one person.

Delicious food at fair prices! Love Urbane Cafe for its healthy options! This is my second time here, and this time I ordered the high protein bowl since I'm on a health and fitness kick! It's pretty delicious, and flavorful. What I like about this place is that it is spacious, and clean. The service here is friendly, and you can order in person, or via kiosk.

Seared Ahi Tuna Bowl, Salmon Bowl

Easy ordering experience and yummy food! Came here on a weeknight and was craving fish, so we ordered the seared ahi tuna bowl and a salmon bowl to share. Both were well portioned and very flavorful! Each bowl was about $16 after tax, but for the amount of food it was pretty worth the price. I also loved the focaccia- fresh and fluffy! You order on a self-serve tablet in the front (there are two), grab a table number, and sit anywhere in the restaurant. There's ample seating and a fair amount of lot parking (they share parking with Gen BBQ and California Fish Grill) so the whole experience was fairly easy! Would come back!

As I've been trying to be healthier, my boyfriend gets dragged to eat bunny food with me. He found Urbane Café while we were running errands in West Cobina area to grab lunch. When we entered, there were 2 kiosks for customers to order from. After browsing their menu, my boyfriend decides on the Santa Maria BBQ Chicken ($12.95) with Chipotle Ranch dressing on the side, substituting the goat cheese for mozzarella cheese and I ordered The Café Salad ($12.75) with Balsamic dressing, substituting the goat cheese for mozzarella cheese, and no bread. Upon checking out with the kiosk, you enter one of the numbers for the orders by the kiosk, take the number with you and seat yourself at any table. A few of the tables were dirty, so we looked around until we found a clean one. The food was prepared in a decent amount of time. It tasted healthy. Nothing too exciting but it served its' purpose. At first they forgot the avocado from my salad and ended up bringing it on the side. Oh I'm also glad they put my dressing on the side even though I didn't ask for it to be because the container was too much dressing for the salad. Would consider coming back here for a healthy-ish meal. Not so much for enjoyment. The pricing is also reasonable for quality ingredients.

I've been here before, but I'm writing this review because I decided to give Urban Cafe another chance, and unfortunately it didn't change my mind. Overall, it's just nothing special. The food isn't bad by any means, but it's also not exciting or memorable, especially for the price. The portions are small for what you're paying, and that's really the biggest issue. Either the portion sizes need to increase or the prices need to come down, because right now it just doesn't feel worth it. This time I ordered the chimichurri steak and also tried the pastrami over the chimichurri steak. Both were fine, but nothing that made me want to come back or crave it again. The flavors didn't really pop, and nothing had that "wow" factor that makes you think about the meal later. The salad that comes with it was honestly a joke, especially considering the price point. I ordered through DoorDash because I didn't want to wait, and while the food arrived fine, it just reinforced that this place is more average than anything else. I will say the staff was very nice when I picked up my order, and it wasn't busy at the time, which I appreciated. Parking, however, was a bit frustrating. Even though it looks like there's front row parking in the photos, that was after I had already picked up my food and taken pictures. When I arrived, parking was a hassle and I had to park farther than expected just to grab my order. I really wish I could say this is a solid addition to West Covina, but I'd honestly rather drive a couple of minutes to Porto's and get an amazing sandwich that never fails and costs at least seven dollars less. Unfortunately, this just isn't a place I plan on coming back to. The ambient was good enough for people to dine in. There was a couple people I would say like four parties.

I ordered from here or eaten dine in a handful of times by now. My go to is the club or the bbq chicken sandwich. I really like the apple slaw on that one. The bread is always soft and fresh tasting, the ingredients in the sandwiches are well balanced, the side salad is a nice touch and a great addition to the meal. Service is always quick and friendly. The inside of the restaurant is kept clean, as well.

Lunch visit. They have two tablet style kiosks to place your order, or you can still order in-person, which is my preference (I like speaking with someone). The staff was friendly, the dining area was clean, and there's plenty of indoor seating, as well as some outdoor seating. Parking is plentiful in the private lot. The menu isn't huge, but they have a good selection of sandwiches and salads, as well as a Tomato Bisque and a soup of the day. The focaccia bread is baked fresh, and all the ingredients on the sandwiches were of good quality. My wife and I tried the Chimichurri Steak sandwich ($13.55), which comes with a small side salad dressed with a balsamic vinaigrette and mandarin orange slice, however we opted to substitute for a cup of soup (+$4.35). She had a cup of the Tomato Bisque (served warm), and I had the Baja Enchilada Soup, which was served hot and tasted fantastic! Our order came out quickly and except for the Tomato Bisque being "just warm", everything was very good. They offer "Batch Craft Soda" products and Coke/Diet Coke from a dispenser, as well as Old Fashioned Lemonade and two types of Agua Frescas. Overall, the service was good, the food was flavorful, and it's only 5 minutes from home, so I'm sure we'll be stopping by again.

Urbane cafe is sooooo good. I love everything about them. this is what panera is trying to be and they can't even come close. The salads are amazing and i recommend the cilantro chicken!! it also comes with a quarter slice of their focaccia, which is baked fresh everyday. I usually order an extra side of focaccia and their red pepper hummus to take home and have it as a snack the following day. Parking is shared , but there's plenty of it.

The place has inside and outside seating, it's perfect for a conversation with friends. I ordered at the counter and waited for it to be brought to our table. The food is freshly made to order and is a healthy choice . The Pesto chicken was good, but I should have added salt or a splash of salsa for more flavoring. The salmon bowl was also good but again needed a little flavor. Overall the food is good and fresh.

Perfection! As always, I am happy to come here. The staff is amazing and very welcoming. Thank you, Elizabeth (I hope I didn't get the name wrong Lizbeth or Elizabeth; I'm pretty sure it's Elizabeth), for your great customer service and for not letting me leave without trying the new caramel & churro cookie, along with my always-favorite chocolate chip. A special shout-out to Rigo, who I believe is the manager, he is great! Truly, the entire team is wonderful. Keep it up! And once again, thank you for the excellent and exceptional service, as well as the delicious food.

Love this place! this is the second time we experience this restaurant and it doesn't disappoint. I ordered through yelp/group hub, ordering was so easy. My guy ordered a southwest sandwich and I ordered the BBQ Tri tip and it was amazing. Also ordered dessert, the double chocolate chip cookie. When picking up the order the staff were nice and welcoming, very good vibes there. The order on the app said 4:40-5pm but it usually is ready 10 min before so I called in and for sure it was ready. I would recommend it's like a healthier option but a delicious one. They have plenty of options including soups and drinks. If you haven't tried the blood Orange drink I recommend it.

So Fresh & Delicious!…read more I tried C&R Fresh Foods for the first time a week ago. I did some research on Yelp to see the menu and recommended options. I was craving a wrap so why not come give em a try. The parking lot has plenty of spaces as it located on the long strip mall in this part of West Covina. The location is pretty chill and quiet outside of the TV playing soccer. The staff who took my order was friendly and allowed me to try sample some smoothies. I came there for the BLT wrap with avocado. My order was served within a few minutes. The staff offered jalapeños on the side as well and constantly checked in with me. I was happy with this wrap! The freshness of the veggies and the crunch from the bacon was perfect. One specific detail I'd have to mention was the cream cheese they use in the wrap. It elevated that wrap it to a new level and brought out all the flavors. I'd return again just for this item. Good customer overall with great food. Come by and try out C & R Fresh Foods! ( ^_^)b

This one was also surprisingly delicious and a bit unique as it had a slight nutty flavor to it. I think the drinks here are made better than Jamba Juice or Robeks. And you'd be supporting a small shop! Overall, this spot is great and the owner is really cool! He was super amiable, and you could tell how much he cares about his business. At the very least, Zodiac Juiceology & Apothecary (Covina) is extremely fast. I arrived at Zodiac Juiceology & Apothecary (Covina) on Friday (around 8:46AM). The location appeared relatively clean but worn down. Furniture looked old; paint is faded & chipped; and floor is scuffed with black marks. Staff is professional and quick. I ordered the Aquarius Juice ($7.95 - 16oz). It arrived in literal seconds. Staff opened a cooler and grabbed a filled glass bottle. Fast. Staff also answered all my questions. Zodiac Juiceology & Apothecary (Covina) has customer internet with password. It also has a hidden restroom near the back. Also, if customers return the bottle, they receive 15 cents. The Aquarius Juice ($7.95 - 16oz) contains carrot juice, red apple juice, orange juice, and pineapple juice. It's a lot of chilled liquid. I also appreciated its eye-catching bright color. Unfortunately, I personally disliked this drink. The primary flavor was bitter apple and tangy orange. It mostly tasted like the bitterness from an apple's skin. In the background, I faintly tasted the carrot and pineapple juice. There were also several specks of black floating in my drink, but I think these black bits were grounded up seeds. Surprisingly, this drink actually made me more thirsty. I guzzled a bottle of water after my visit. Despite my dislike, the drink is not bad. It's functional and healthy. It's not tasty nor the freshest, but it's a lot of liquid in a pretty bottle. Regarding ambiance, Zodiac Juiceology & Apothecary (Covina) feels poorly maintained. Wall colors were chipping; furniture colors look faded; and furniture felt very worn down. Zodiac Juiceology & Apothecary (Covina) looks old. The location also played slow rap music, lacked electric wall sockets for customers, and had a few flies buzzing around from its open door. Thankfully, the location is relatively clean. Overall, Zodiac Juiceology & Apothecary (Covina) is forgettable but inoffensive. Its juices taste frugal, but its liquid portions are generous. If actively searching for a farmers market vibe, this might be your spot. 3.5 out of 5

Servers kept walking past our table without checking in and honestly looked kind of lost or wandering around aimlessly. Luckily they keep water pitchers on the tables already filled, which now makes perfect sense considering how long it takes to get service. Smart move on their part. I ordered the avocado toast with a side of bacon, and my husband ordered the chorizo skillet. The coffees and my food came out quickly, but his never did. Instead, we watched an older server walk around the restaurant with his skillet and bacon, stopping at multiple tables asking if it belonged to them. Twice she set it down at other tables before being told it wasn't theirs. The third time, she finally brought it to us. That seems like it should be a health issue, what if someone else had stuck their fingers in it not knowing. Overall, cute spot and really good coffee, but the service was incredibly disorganized and the food mix-up was a huge turnoff. Unfortunately, we won't be back.

It's simple but full of character, featuring cholo-style artwork inspired by Blood In, Blood Out, along with actor signatures that give the place a cool, authentic vibe. We were able to sit back, enjoy great company, and have an even better meal. The kids loved the breakfast burrito, waffles, and the classic breakfast plates. I ordered the chorizo omelette, and it did not disappoint -- generous chunks of perfectly cooked chorizo throughout. You can truly taste that everything is made from scratch with fresh ingredients. The country fried steak is incredible as well -- definitely worth trying. There's plenty of parking, including street parking since the restaurant sits on a corner. They offer covered outdoor seating with a gated area and a TV, plus indoor seating if you prefer. I will most certainly be returning. Highly recommend!

That kind of genuine hospitality is rare and immediately sets the tone. The food was excellent. I had the pancake combo and my son ordered the cheeseburger--both were fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Even the ranch was standout. George then offered samples, which honestly sealed the deal. I don't like seafood at all, but the clam chowder was unbelievably good. And the biscuits and gravy? No exaggeration--the best gravy in the area. Nothing else comes close. The décor is another highlight. The Blood In Blood Out theme throughout the café is very cool, especially seeing the murals on the walls signed by actual cast members who have visited. It gives the place a unique character and makes it feel like more than just a café--it's an experience. Amazing food, amazing service, and a welcoming atmosphere. This is officially my new go-to spot for breakfast and lunch. Next visit, I'm trying the country fried steak and the chicken fettuccini. Highly recommend.

Their sweeter breakfast items are also huge portions and just so yummy. They do amazing dinners too, the salmon cakes are unbelievably good. They also host private dinners, which is actually what I did for my best friend's engagement dinner. Huge shoutout to the owner, Cat, who was so amazing to work with and made the whole night feel extra special. She was so patient with all my questions, made the planning process super easy, and even helped create a customized menu for our dinner. You can really tell how much care goes into this place.

Great food, front-of-house needs a bit of work…read more.. We made reservations for Mother's Day brunch a week ahead and thankfully we did as they had booked up at least 1 or 2 days before. Parking is super easy as it's in a plaza and shares a big lot with other businesses. They had a special menu, so I'm not too sure what is and is not part of their usual menu, but this is what we ordered: 1. Baltimore Crab Cakes (comes with 2): we were pleasantly surprised as it came with a side salad; the crab cakes themselves were not dry at all and came with a good amount of crab. Delicious, 5/5 2. Heirloom tomato and stone fruit salad: one of the things they pride themselves on is sourcing their ingredients locally and sustainably. You can really tell with this dish that all of their ingredients are really high-quality and fresh. The stonefruit was super sweet. The price ($18) was a bit high for the portion size, so this was a 4/5 for us. 3. Crab & tonnarelli: really good cook on the pasta; my husband is really picky on pasta that's overcooked, but this came to us perfectly al dente. There was a good amount of crab as well, so we appreciated that they didn't skimp. That said, the taste was a bit one-toned and underseasoned, which is a lot coming from us since we typically complain about food being too salty. If it came with a bit more salt, it would've been one of our favorites. 3.5 (maybe 4)/5 4. Pork sisig and garlic rice: we love sisig, so we had to order it. While it was super flavorful and delicious, we couldn't finish it on the spot since it was pretty salty and we were getting full. We did take it home and cook some more vegetables into it to dilute the salt a bit. 4/5 5. Ricotta cheese pancakes: super fluffy and airy, you can tell why they need 20 minutes to prep them. Again, the fruit they used was super fresh and sweet. Loved, no notes. 5/5 Service-wise, there were some hiccups with our orders. Our salad came to us without the burrata and when we asked them about it, it took about 3-4 people double-checking their menu to confirm it actually came with burrata, then a handful more minutes to rectify it. It seemed strange to me that they were unfamiliar with their own menu. Our pork sisig dish came out much later than every other dish and our waiter had to check up on it a few times, so it may have just gotten missed. There seemed to be a lot of people working in the front, but somehow hard to flag them down and get helped when we needed it. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as it was Mother's Day and I'm sure it was busier than usual. Our waiter was also gracious in comping a drink as a result of the long wait for the sisig. Overall, we'll still come back as we want to try other dishes and we do appreciate the freshness of the ingredients and their integration of vegetables with dishes, which can sometimes be hard to come by. Just wanted to provide some feedback on service in hopes they'll take it constructively.
