Fast casual and healthy restaurant, this cafe is very convenient and the food is delicious. I had the protein bowl without the peppers and it was so yummy and filling. I could only eat half for dinner, and finished it that night for my snack. Service was excellent and very helpful. Five stars

This simple little corner cafe offers so much delicious food made soulfully. It's all made in house and from scratch. Remember the way that grandma used to bake bread; I do. After eating lunch here it's like eating at grandmas house when I was young. Let's venture more into what lunch should taste like. It's unlike any other place that you have had for lunch. It's not only delicious, it's delightful. We dined in and we're greeted promptly as we walked in the door. Our cashier was nice with a positive polite attitude and a great smile. As we ordered she was greeted by her supervisor whom inquired about our day. We informed the staff that this was our first visit and will not be the last. My lunch date decided to opt for a sandwich which comes with a small salad. I decided on the pear salad with added goat cheese. Mmmm, did I mention to you how delicious our lunch was? The salad was amazing. It had fresh avocados and canned pears placed in a bed of fresh greens. I opted to have the chicken on the side, which is a great benefit that they allowed. Everything was made to order. As we sat and waited for our food the lobby was bright and comfortable. The color patterns were very appropriate and appealing to the eye. What's not more to love? Good food that feeds your soul, and lifts your spirit. After eating our lunch we walked out full and happy, not fat and happy. For the food fed us and left our bellies full on life, love and light. Are you looking for a place to feed your soul, not just your appetite? Stop in here for lunch for some greatness.
Urbane Cafe is a fast-casual restaurant that specializes in refined bowls, salads, soups, and sandwiches at affordable prices. The chain was founded in 2003 in Ventura, CA, and currently has 41 locations in Southern and Central California as well as Nevada (as of December 2025). I'm a regular customer at this Stephanie and Sunset Street location, and despite being surrounded by so many solid competitors offering similar products, the restaurant is usually bustling with activity. In my opinion, the warm customer service and fish offerings at Urbane Cafe truly set them apart from the rest, and I often visit specifically for their mouthwatering fish bowls. Speaking of which, the A Really Good Fish Bowl they recently brought back seems to be a personal love letter to me. It's like having a Southern "meat and three sides" in a bowl with a Southern California twist. I just hope they used grandma's spices and Mississippi River water like the food blogger foodiechina888 on IG & TikTok. Lol.
If you're looking for a fresh sandwich or salad, Urbane Cafe has some good options. I ordered a Pesto & Sundried Tomato sandwich. Unfortunately they were short staffed the day we went so we were directed to personless kiosk to place our order, which I'm not a huge fan of. You then take a seat and wait for the food. Took about 10-15 minutes for the food to be ready during the lunch hour. Sandwiches by default come with a small side salad with balsamic dressing. Overall, the food tasted fresh and the portion size was pretty good. The service was a bit haphazard which is the reason for 4 stars.

Upon entering, we were greeted immediately. We arrive around 11:45 am on a Thursday. Only one other couple was in the restaurant. We used the kiosk to place our order. Easy to use. Our food came out pretty quickly. I think our server was Sarah and she was extremely nice and helpful. This restaurant seems like a great place for a quick healthier meal. The taste of the food was great but could actually use a bit more protein. I think one of the options when ordering is to add an additional portion of the protein. Next time I would, definately for the seared ahi tuna bowl. My husband ate the Seared Ahi Tuna Bowl, I had the St Maria Bbq chicken salad. I would definately go back and would like to try a sandwich.
Came here on a Saturday afternoon after hiking and wanting to refuel with something clean yet filling. Urban Cafe's salad and bowl selection checked those boxes! I ordered the Cilantro Chicken Salad with blue cheese (bottom). My friend ordered the High Protein Bowl (top). The ingredients were fresh and crisp. The dressing was on the side so I can add as much or little as I want without making the salad soggy. Parking is really easy to find since it's located in a plaza. It seems to be mostly a takeout spot, but if you want to dine in, you self-order at the kiosk, grab your own number, and choose your seat. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a simple, casual meal.
I don't go to these different locations enough to differentiate one from the other, but I enjoyed this one! Food quality was spot on for what I was expecting, and the cookies were warm and delicious! Service was also very friendly.
I finally went to see what this this cafe was about and it was ok. It's definitely better than Subway and better pricing than Panera. The big selling point is that they make the focaccia bread in house. It's definitely fresh and I can appreciate that. It has a herb seasoning that isn't rosemary which I liked. The server recommended the Chili Slice Crunch Chicken sandwich as it was back by popular demand. It came with a small side salad with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I ordered a drink as well. The soda machine had craft sodas instead of the major brands like Coke or Pepsi. I thought the Snozzberry soda was fun. It tasted like a berry soda and more on the sweet side so I opted for the dragon fruit agua fresca later. It was average. The inside seating had high tops which were too high for me, but there were some regular tables to sit in. It was kind of clean, but it had quite a few people coming and going. They bring your food to you and the to go containers were very sturdy which I appreciate. The sandwich itself was good, but more bread than meat ratio. Overall, it's worth trying at least once and if you want a different lunch option that is a bit healthier than a fast food drive through.
The atmosphere here is warm and inviting. Each staff member is helpful in suggestions and in explaining the details of how their dishes are made and the expressions of how things taste(if you've not tried certain things before). I've dined in and ordered delivery through DoorDash. They make their focaccia bread fresh. It's soft, moist and delicious! I love their ahi bowls and salad options. I've visited a few times with friends and enjoy their craft soda beverage options. They also have craft tea that you can have hot or cold. Their tables and chairs layout is spacious with high table options and low to accommodate folks with wheelchairs. There's also wheelchair access right at their front door.
Not many (great) vegan options. My girlfriend enjoyed her chicken banh mi, however, my tofu was less than par. Very dry, carrots tasted like they came out of a plastic bag (I'm not saying they actually did; trying to provide details). The tofu was cold & didn't even seem like it was cooked (it might have). The bread was also sub par, not very tasty. Service was good. A few people were extremely friendly & a couple of people were not so friendly. The batch sodas tasted very medicinal (not a good thing). All in all, not a place I'd go back to right away. Overall, Thank you Team Urbane Cafe. I appreciate you.
Urbane Cafe's handling of my allergen request was careless and disrespectful. After driving 20 minutes to place a larger order in person and clearly requesting no goat cheese due to an allergy, both salads still came with goat cheese when I got home. When I called to explain the situation, there was no apology, no offer of a credit, and I was told I had to drive back if I wanted it fixed--as if my time and safety didn't matter. To make matters worse, the call was ended on me, which felt extremely unprofessional and dismissive. Overall, this experience showed a complete lack of care for customers with allergies, and I will not be returning or recommending this location.
Urbane Cafe is sooo good! I don't understand why it's not busy when I visit. I have tried a number of sandwiches here & they're all very good- fresh & flavorful! Today I shared my Pastrami sandwich with my hubby (pictures show half of the regular portion). The sandwich came with a side of green salad; which is much healthier than a bag of chips that other sandwich establishments serve. Oh & by the way, the bread is a house made focaccia! And it is fresh & delicious!!! This place is great for lunch! The portions are perfect & the staff here are very nice & helpful if you're unsure of what to order. This review has been LONG overdue. I visit this Urbane location almost on a weekly basis. As an avid Steak Chimchurri Sandwich consumer this Salmon Bowl is my new favorite. The service and food is consistent. I never have a bad meal. The restaurant is always fairly empty and clean but I think it's because the service is so quick. 10/10 Focaccia Bread is to die for and I usually add the house mustard to my sandwiches. This salmon bowl was very fresh and memorable. I'll be back that's a guarantee! read more

We Uber eats from Urbane Cafe and paid for by our Medical Rep Joe. We ordered more than a dozen dish. Alas, they missed 1 order for a very important tech. Anyway our food came on time. Second visit here. I liked the service, cleanliness, and freshness of the food first time. Opted to get Southwest sandwich. My friend tried the special which was the fish sandwich. Both yummy. Their homemade bread is excellent. Plus serving size I got two meals. Each came with balsamic vinaigrette dressing with fresh mixed greens and mandarin oranges. Delicious. We enjoyed our meals. You can order from a kiosk or at the counter with a server. Order is brought by number to your table. Great spot for quality lunch or drop in if hungry for something quick and delicious at a reasonable price. I'll be back again. I did notice loyalty program and will check that out. They have bowls, salads, soups, and sandwiches on the menu. Plus fresh baked cookies. read more

Love how many healthy food options there are including the bowls, salads, and sandwiches! I ordered the salmon salad which was pretty filling for only ~250 calories. It comes with precut salmon (although wish there were a bit more salmon pieces and Lima beans). I enjoyed the cilantro dressing that it came with. It was easy to order via self service kiosk and food came out very quickly. read more

We were in the area checking out a climbing gym so we decided to stop by for some lunch. I've been wanting to check out Urbane Cafe so I was pretty excited to give it a go. There are two kiosks at the front for you to order, which is perfect cause I took my time looking through everything and no one had to wait for me! I decided to go for their Chimichurri Steak sandwich, which had tri tip steak, house made chimichurri sauce, feta, arugula, and cranberry chutney aioli. My husband decided to go for their So Cal sandwich, which had roasted chicken, avocado, pepper jack cheese, green leaf lettuce, tomatillo salsa, and chipotle aioli. We also decided to get an order of focaccia bread since we were craving some extra carbs. I really enjoyed my Chimichurri Steak sandwich -- it had great flavor and the thinly sliced steak was tender. I wasn't a huge fan of the So Cal sandwich but that was probably because the Chimichurri Steak sandwich just blew it out of the park. Both sandwiches came with a salad too! The salad was super refreshing! The focaccia bread was a bit of a disappointment. I guess when we were looking at the menu, we didn't realize that it was just the same bread that they used for the sandwiches. It was good and I loved it when it was warm but it wasn't different. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience. It's unfortunate that Urbane is so far from us. I did hear that they might open one up in the SW so we're waiting for that location! read more

Came here for lunch one day while my friend had met up with her old coworker. This place was recommended to me by another friend who had came here a bit ago and said it was good, so we eventually made the trek out here across town to try it out. Upon entry, you order via the 2 kiosks by the entrance. You take a number and enter it at the end. You can stack multiple orders on the same number so everyone in your table doesn't have to get 398047239 different numbers. I had tried the CHIMICHURRI STEAK while one friend had gotten the CILANTRO TORTA and another friend had gotten the PASTRAMI TRI TIP. CHIMICHURRI STEAK has tri tip steak, housemade chimichurri sauce, feta, arugula, cranberry chutney aioli. Very delicious sandwich. Meat is thinly sliced and tender. Sauce is very aromatic. Arugula gives it a slight bitterness and spice. Cranberry adds a nice brightness and creaminess in the aioli. Bread was cold but still quite soft. Both friends had also enjoyed their sandwiches as well. All sandwiches come with either a salad or soup. Depending on which you get may have additional charges (esp the soups). Believe all breads are baked fresh in house as well. Can't wait for them to open up on the Southwest side of town. Heard there was a rumor it may happen soon ! read more

First timer came in to give this new place a try. The restaurant is minimalist and clean and the staff was nice and welcoming . I had a bogo coupon from the mail so I got the pesto sun-dried tomato chicken sandwich, the chimichurri steak sandwich as well as just the plain focaccia with balsamic vinegar. Both sandwiches were delicious and had great flavor. The only downside was my expectation that the focaccia would have a nice crisp outside texture to go along with the inner softness. The flavor of the focaccia was great and I even enjoyed just dipping the plain bread into the vinaigrette but because of the softness of the bread throughout, the bottom of the sandwiches became soggy from the drive home in the container. Other than that overall I recommend this place and will come back to try some of the dishes like the soups. read more

What an amazing find! I recently tried Urbane Cafe and it did not disappoint. The restaurant was clean, the staff were knowledgeable and friendly and most of all the food was delicious! It reminds me of a true food kitchen or flower child vibe but with larger portions. I had the salmon rice bowl and it was so good. It came with kale, rice, edamame, sweet potatoes and some bread. Let me just give a major shoutout to the bread- what do they do to it?!?! Why does it taste so good?! I am beyond impressed with this place and I will definitely be coming back. Came here for lunch after reading good reviews and recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. There's ample parking in front of the cafe. You order on the panel, take a number, and they bring out the food to your table. The food came out pretty quickly and it was tasty. The portion is generous as the sandwich comes with a side salad. What I thought would be a simple Tofu sandwich, turned out to be a fresh and flavorful meal, even a day later. So, I ordered Mediterranean Bowl and it was super huge, filling, refreshing and delicious! I also ordered the Banh Mi sandwich, which came with a side of salad. I was so full from half of the salad, I had to eat the sandwich the next day. My favorite part of the sandwich was the pickled carrots. They were so tangy and were probably the co-star of the sandwich, aside from the tofu. They use Follow Your Heart feta for the salad. They have a ton of vegan options and these were so good! I think when my husband and I said this was our new spot, we didn't think we'd be back as many times, and as often as we had in mind. However, Urbane is so good that we do keep coming back. I like to try their menu, so I know what will work for me in the future. He likes the ahi, so he'll stick with the bowl or salad for the most part. This time I tried the crunchy peanut salad, both with gluten free bread. We always share an iced tea, so there's not much to say about that. But it's fresh brewed, and they have some aguas frescas and different soda brands so that would be a treat also! The food was as always, delicious. It was full of flavor, fresh, and tasty. The service like always was kind, quick, and very attentive. I feel now that Urbane is getting the recognition and business it deserves; so there were many customers eating in the restaurant, ordering orders to go, and doing pickup orders. Does Urbane café still only offer one type of bread? If they offered a choice of bread, it would be the perfect place. I don't really like the focaccia bread that they use on everything.
I don't care for it either, so it went uneaten. Looks like only that one choice.
