Restaurant is easy to get to off the 101 freeway. Parking is busy during lunch and spots are narrow. Restaurant is situated on the end of the shopping center with plenty of nice outside eating. I ordered the Mediterranean BBQ chicken salad which was delicious and served up with some tasty bread. Portions were plenty filling. I also tried out a couple of the warm cookies. Chocolate chocolate and chocolate chip. They were both perfectly baked and so good. Yum! Over all a good experience minus the bathroom. The bathroom didn't have any soap to wash my hands and the door was sticky! . I asked Ashley if I could get some soap to wash my hands. She got a jug and locked me out of the bathroom while she filled up the soap dispenser, while I waited to wash my hands. I am here for the week for work and have ordered delivery from Urbane every single day this week. I even had it for lunch AND dinner one day. The food has been excellent every time. I enjoyed the Santa Maria BBQ Salad...hello blackberry BBQ sauce...I liked it so much I ordered it two days in a row. I also tried the Salmon bowl and the Pesto and Sun Dried Tomato Sandwich. This food is great and inexpensive. The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because they had their amazingly sweet young female employee, Ella, take out the trash by herself after closing. They prices are comparable to other slightly up scale fast food in the area. I love the sea salt foccacia bread they serve as a side to their meals and anig fan of their Cobb salad. Today I decided to give Urbane Cafe a try as I've had so many of my friends recommended your food. Walking in to your location, I felt very welcome. Even as I was looking through your menu and wasn't sure what to order. The manager, Gabriel, walked me through the menu and we were able to decide on the Santa Maria Salad. I really love Urbane Cafe- their sandwiches never disappoint BUT my husband and I were very disappointed with this location's service. First of all, if they are running low an item, don't worry, you'll still get it, you'll just have to pay extra for it. Literally for an item that's actually included in your meal! They told us they were running low on avocado. They asked us if we wanted it, so that they could charge 50 cents extra on a sandwich that has avocado INCLUDED. I'm sorry, but if you offer it on the menu (not as a side or an extra $ item), it is incredibly tacky to ask your customers "how badly do you really want that avocado?" You are not chipotle. This is not an extra perk to their meal. Give your customers the actual sandwich as ordered until you run out. Then we will understand that you are simply out of avocado. That's just common courtesy. Another cashier then says aloud that "oops," she's been forgetting to charge customers for avocado for the past few hours. While we stand there and pay for our meal. Thanks so much for telling us.... We finally get the sandwiches, and then one was wrong (not a big deal). They made a new one in a hurry. Ok, cool. Then we open the sandwiches and see that not only did they charge us extra for avocado, but each sandwich got a pathetic half-slice each. Seriously? It's not about the extra 50 cents. We don't care about the 50 cents. It's about the lack of professionalism, common courtesy and yes, lack of avocado that we stupidly agreed to pay for! They do have the option of indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the Cilantro Chicken Salad and was not expecting what I got. A big bowl filled with fresh greens, chicken and packed with flavor. The cilantro vinaigrette was spicy and with a hint of cilantro. And each salad comes with a fresh piece of their bread that you see being baked in their stone oven. Take this review with a grain of salt since it seems that just about everyone I know loves Urbane Café. I am just not a fan. I had the Pesto Chicken Sandwich with the side salad. I think what really threw me off was the bread. It didn't hold the sandwich well nor did it fit the flavor profile. I'm not saying a place like Subway has better bread, but at the very least it doesn't impose on the flavor of the components within. I didn't get a significant flavor profile coming from the chicken and pesto even though these are two of the easier things to get right in a sandwich. There aren't any subtleties with chicken. For the price, this place isn't horrible. Sandwich and drink for about $10 are decent, especially in the area, but I wouldn't count on being satisfied during or full soon after the meal. It might be high in calories (no clue about the actual calorie count), but it is not something that will keep you going. I know Urbane Café is known for its healthy foods, but that is counteracted if you have to go vending machine hunting in 2 hours just to make it to dinner. read more

I love Urbane Cafe. It's fresh, healthy, delicious food that makes you feel good eating it AND after eating it. Their salads are probably the best part about it. They come with fresh baked bread (which is absolutely delicious, by the way) and aren't your typical boring salad. I had the Kale and Quinoa salad (chopped red leaf kale mix, corn & quinoa salsa, avocado, goat cheese) because I'm a sucker for anything with kale, quinoa, and avocado in it, and added grilled chicken for $1.50. I had the recommended cilantro vinaigrette dressing, which probably one of the best salad dressings I've had. It's light, tasty, and compliments the salad perfectly. And the bread tastes delicious dunked in any leftover dressing you may have. I've also had the Summer Salad, which was their seasonal salad of the summer (quite self-explanatory). It was just as good and was quite similar, with kale mix, avocado, mango, jicama, goat cheese, and cilantro grilled chicken. I had the cilantro vinaigrette again and wasn't disappointed. If you get your salads with chicken, the total (including tax) comes out to about $10. You pay at registers at the front and pick up your food from the counter when it's ready (you get a buzzer thing that notifies you), so you don't have to tip if you don't want to, but it's always a nice touch since the cashiers are so friendly and the food is so great.
