We were very impressed with this restaurant. Obviously, with a spelling like that it is going to be somewhat hipster, but it is some version of Nordic hipster and good food comes from there. I got the wild rice aebleskiver with a side order of bacon. The aebleskiver were fantastic. The chokeberry sauce was overkill--the lingonberry filling and whipped cream were plenty. The bacon was crispy and tasty. The waitress was appropriately attentive, but did not inquire about our needs every two minutes. I liked the decor and that we were able to sit in the sun (we went in the depth of winter). Best of all, we were the only people in the restaurant. There was no wait even though we got there at about 10am on a Saturday. It was a little weird that you have to walk through the hotel to get to the restaurant, but the restaurant is easy to find. read more

Found this amazing hidden gem after reviewing Yelp today. The staff is amazing. Martin was friendly, accommodating, attentive and very knowledgeable with the menu. The food was outstanding as well reasonably priced. I had the smoked salmon with avocado and my husband had the chicken sausage and spinach scramble. We both enjoy our meals very much. Order toast as their jam tastes homemade. Ask for two different flavors if you have two people. We will be back soon! read more

My mother recently turned 90 and we wanted to do something special for her birthday. I work near the new Hyatt Regency in Bloomington so I thought I'd check it out. The Hotel is beautiful, they have a very nice private room off the main dining room and the price was very reasonable. Joe the restaurant manager handled all the details. They printed up special menus, decorated the cake and everything. There were 27 people in our party and evening went off without a hitch. The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. My mom and all our guests had a wonderful time. I highly recommend the Urbana Kitchen, especially for a group gathering. read more

With Family in town we wanted something close to their hotel and via google search found Urbana...rolled the dice and it was a huge hit! The service was fantastic, our waitress was a doll and quickly started teasing and playing with us (super fun) - bartender took great care of us ;) and the food...WOW. We did apps (sweet potato fries & fondu) such great flavor combos! Meals we did ranged from flatbread pizza (it was amazing) to hanger steak that was perfect! Very accommodating when I decided to show up right when they opened at 6 AM (I had an early flight to catch). I was quickly seated and my order was taken immediately, all while the coffee was being poured. I ordered the Whole Grain English Muffin & Turkey Sausage and Scandinavian Malted Waffles. The waffles were graciously served first, while the waffles were being made, which I appreciated a lot. My only gripe about the sandwich, just a bit too hard, well passed crispy. Still tasted great. Ate here simply because I was staying at the Hyatt Regency and it was past 9 pm. Lucky for me they are open until 11 pm. I was seated immediately and had my choice of tables as the restaurant was only about half full. The waitress appeared and took my order. I ordered a chicken and goat cheese flat bread from the appetizers section, thinking it would done pretty quickly. It took forever to come out, but the waitress did apologize for it. She seemed overworked but did keep my drinks filled. The flat bread was good and I would get it again. Prices are a bit on the high side, but in line with what I expect from a hotel. read more

I went to Urbana based on a post from Instagram "influencer" @kimlcurry. Her posts showed good food. When I went here, the service was awful and the food was just ok. I should've known better. If a restaurant is good, they wouldn't try to get an "influencer" to repeatedly market their restaurant. I understand in come cases it works, but in this case, the public is being misled. It took 13 minutes for a hostess to show up and seat me. After being seated it took another 10 minutes for a server to come by. Finally, we were offered water. Our server was terrible and slow. Had zero knowkedge of the menu. Asked to substitute the horseradish sauce of the steak and she had no idea what other sauces were available so we had no sauce instead. I asked about information and opinion on the gouda fondue and all she said was "yep" so I did not bother getting it. The bison burger was great but tge fries were very salty. The waitress did not ask if we wanted dessert and only came back once before dropping off check. I did not even get a to go cup for my coffee that I paid for. The restaurant is clean. Bathrooms are very nice and maintained. The seating on some of the couches are uncomfortable sinxe they are worn out for other people sitting on them. Opt for tbe chair if you can. This is a little place I read about on Yelp. I was staying at a nearby hotel for am conference and was just tired of the hotel food. I couldn't believe this amazing little restaurant was tucked away in the corner of a Hyatt. I had the Eye of the Storm cocktail which needs to be sipped but I loved. I had their signature Gouda fondue with chips and apple slices. Delish! If that wasn't enough I ordered their steak with latfke. (Spelling prob all wrong) it was also delicious! I'm not sure if I will have enough room for dessert but reviewers before me raved about the german cake so I will take it to go so I can hopefully enjoy it when I get back to my hotel after a long walk along the MN valley wildlife refuge nearby. read more

Very disappointing! I live near the Hyatt, where Urbana is located, and have eaten there many times. I've always been happy, or happy enough, with the food and service. Today was a different story! Granted, there was a Vikings game, and the restaurant was busier than it usually is, but that's really not an excuse for the poor service and the poor quality food. I'll start with the service: we had to wait at least 5-10 minutes just for someone to greet us at the host stand. We were seated quickly but it probably took our server another 10 minutes to greet us and take drink orders. The kitchen was very slow, which when combined with the slowness and inattentiveness of our server (taking 10 minutes to refill coffe after it was requested is just one example) resulted in a very unpleasant experience. Add to that food that just wasn't very good (lemon ricotta pancakes, which I've had before, had no lemon flavor and were heavy and floury and the ableskivers were burnt), not getting the pastries until we were all done eating, and taking 30 minutes to get our bill paid, and the whole experience was subpar at best. Finally, when my sister talked to the manager (he asked for specific examples of the poor service and she gave him several), he simply made excuses and did not offer an apology of any sort. Needless to say, I will never eat there again and will certainly let my neighbors know about our experience. read more

First time visiting this restaurant. The appearance was neat and clean (modern typical hotel restaurant look). When trying to get a table the hostess was too busy managing waiters that had no idea what they should be doing and it took around 10 minutes to get a table (the restaurant had roughly 10 other people there at the time). After being seated, we asked for 2 coffees and we got lukewarm coffee that had been sitting for a good amount of time (the coffee was still good as it was from the Starbucks that is attached to the restaurant). The waitress was very nice but didn't seem to know the menu. After we ordered she had to come back to ask us how we wanted our eggs and what sides we wanted. As we were waiting for our food, we noticed other tables getting wrong orders and getting different tables plates. We we got our food, neither of us got the correct order which they had to take back and re-do. When we got the correct food, it was okay. My eggs Benedict had roughly a tablespoon of hollandaise sauce (which tasted kinda bad), both of my poached eggs had been cooked all the way through, and there was only ham on one slice of my English muffin. I went on a Thursday afternoon with a few of my coworkers and my first impression was that it was a weird set up. The dining area felt small and there was a coffee shop in the middle which seemed out of place. They did serve Starbucks at the coffee shop which I liked a lot and I got myself a drink while we waited to be sat (no one was in the restaurant besides one other table) When we sat down for a table it took a few minutes to be greeted. Our server looked very young. She looked about 16-17, Very petite with braces which I thought was weird for an upscale hotel restaurant. No offense to her. She did however ask for me and my coworkers ID's which I'm glad she didn't forget! Only issue is she had to have the bartender bring our drinks(under 18) to the table which took 15 minutes... the food also took a long time for just a few appetizers but it was well worth the wait! Due to the positive Yelp reviews and ratings we decided to have dinner there last Saturday evening. My wife had the salmon entry and I ordered the chicken pot pie. The restaurant was way to cold. We both keep our quilted vest on and we were still very uncomfortable. Our waitress had minimum follow-up. Plus, the chicken pot pie was barely warm, very salty and tasted like food that came from a can. My wife's Salmon was hot, cooked with a tasty marinate, but had a slight fishy taste. Plus, my salad was borderline fresh. Our overall experience was well below average. I always thought of Hyatt Hotels as having very good restaurants in there facilities, however this was not our experience!!! read more

We had 3 appetizers: Broccoli tots, wings and deviled eggs. Nothing special. Shared a fondue burger and it was great! We ordered a mimosa with a shot of amaretto. One of our favorite drinks. They charged $13 for the mimosa and $9 to add the amaretto. Insane. Every bar I've ever ordered one from, I pay for a mimosa and they add $2-3 for the amaretto. $22+ for a drink is insane. I love me some good food and when it's made to perfection, I'd enjoy it and appreciate your hard work. I have been there multiple times, the reason being its proximity to where I live. Sometimes for a drink and sometimes for breakfast and each time I have walked out with a little disappointment. There is a particular server who does not like to take notes... she thinks she has a memory of an elephant but I am afraid NOT. The first time I went there for breakfast, I ordered a tall Latte with soy (Starbucks) and she brings me a grande. I don't fuss about it because we all make mistakes. Food that day was exactly what was asked for and good. Second time for breakfast, I ordered for Ableskivers with stuffed apples and candied pecans with a tall 'decaf' soy latte. To my hoodoo, she was my server, again. She brings me Ableskivers with no apples or pecans and caffeinated coffee. I asked her to redo my order and she brings me decaf with regular milk. I then wondered why is it so difficult for her or is it me(?) and the friend pointed out that as a server she needs to take notes and she is just winging everything! Would I go there again? I don't usually stop at hotel restaurants but I saw the reviews and had to stop in. Cocktails were great. I tired the Pink Loon and the Louisville 75, and enjoyed both. The bacon and salmon deviled eggs were good. We also ordered the club sandwich which had a huge portion of turkey on it! Also had the salad trio with the kale quinoa salad, spinach radish salad and the fruit salad. I enjoyed the first two, the fruit said was just diced cantaloupe, honeydew and pineapple. Went here after a friend recommended- this is a hidden gem. Sat outside on a perfect summer day, our waitress was exceptional and very attentive. I eat gluten free and there were many options to choose from on the menu. I had the wild rice mushroom soup and the gluten free spinach/gouda quiche with a spinach salad. We had breakfast and were happily surprised by the hotel restaurant. The prices were not crazy expensive like most hotels. The bacon, egg, cheese panini was excellent. They did forget the bacon jam and arugula, but it was still tasty. My husband had the chicken scramble gouda fondue with the potato latkes. It was so flavorful! And to add, we had the apple scone. Three of us had 3 entrees, a salad, 3 desserts. First entree was "grassfed hanger steak" which was tough, cold, no flavor. Second entree was "biff lindstrom patty", laced with msg, no menu warning that the majority of the patty was various pickled vegetables, very little meat. Side salad was stale, wilted, flavorless. Third entree was broccoli ghouda quiche which included one broccoli floweret and several tough stem pieces. First dessert was krumkake, said to be filled with vanilla mousse, actually filled with canned whipping cream and very stale and soggy (sent back). Second dessert was a large slice of blueberry buttermilk cake with no flavor, dried out, overly sweet. Third dessert was blueberry lemon cheesecake with NO lemon, NO cheesecake flavor, only the appearance of a piece of plastic with lots of sugar. Nothing was as described and would not consider return. Not to mention, service was inexperienced, did not know menu items, had to be asked to clear table and asked for dessert menu. read more
