Met a few friends there for dinner. First time there and have heard good reviews. We all ordered a different meal. The 3 meals were Salmon Tacos, Thai Pizza and Lettuce Wraps. Stopped in Appleton for lunch and discovered UMK. The area around the restaurant is not particularly eye-pleasing...gas station, old factory and an empty lot or two, but the interior space is very appealing. Clean and modern. Service was attentive, but not overbearing. The menu felt really well balanced, with something for every taste. Our party elected for a pair of pizzas, margherita and mushroom. Both were served quick and hot. While the crust was slightly thicker than I'd prefer, it was good enough that I ate it all. Both pizzas had the appropriate amount of toppings and vegetables were fresh. Definitely recommend. read more

Great food and service! The only negative are the acoustics- it is very loud in this little space.

Overall, great place. Love the ambiance inside, and the staff was friendly. We got the tortilla soup, Cali chicken sandwich, and lobster Mac and cheese. Soup was tasty, and the sandwich was wonderful! I ate every last bite. I didn't try the lobster Mac but my friend said it was good, but dry. I typically don't get Mac at restaurants for that reason, so I can't judge too harshly lol. read more

The staff were very friendly and several greeted us as we were waiting to be seated on a busy night, which didn't take long. The decor was beautifully done. Seating was spacious and did not feel crowded. Our waiter was attentive, personable, and had a great sense of humor. The restaurant was clean. The food was AMAZING!! Very yummy!!! There is such a variety on the menu internationally its like "A Small World" menu. I can't wait to return to try other items on the menu. Serving amount are on the larger side but not grossly large. I had the chicken & spinach ravioli and it was fabulous!! Finally! The pasta wasn't over cooked nor aldente (undercooked) it was swimming in a very good sauce and enough of it! The pretzel bites were okay. The service was friendly, attentive and timely. The ambiance was fantastic and the food good. However, the service was definitely sub-par. We were taken to a table and then sat for 40 minutes. We finally got water and put in an appetizer order (appetizer was a great size for the price) and wanted to order right away, but the waiter said he would give us a minute and took off really fast. Then we sat for another 20 minutes. They were busy, but other tables were being waited on by someone else and getting their orders taken right away and food delivered soon after. We had to get our own silverware and extra napkins. We asked for water refills and he said he would be back in just a minute with it and it took another 20 minutes and us asking someone for water. Three out of five of us went to the car to wait. That's usually a clue, but no we waited another 15 minutes and I finally went up and asked for boxes and the bill. I took the bill up myself for fear of waiting another 20 minutes to get my card back. If you're not in a hurry, the food is good. If you're not in a rush and don't mind spending a ton of time waiting for everything and getting your own silverware then this place is for you! Oh, and you won't be asked how is everything. Probably won't be back there as the amount it costs to eat out is high and then I feel service should be darn good! Our waiter had a total disconnect with his job. read more

Super delicious. We accidentally crossed paths with UMK and Im glad we did. We both had cheddar broccoli soup that was totally delicious. My entrée was creole pasta, it was to die for. My wife got the chicken panini sandwich and she loved it. Also the drinks are superb. We will be back. read more

I haven't tried the place out and wanted to see if it was any good. I got inside and ordered the teriyaki bowl to go. I sat down and waiter came up to me 3 mins later saying, "there was another customer that ordered the same thing but just hasn't shown up yet so might as well give it to you". Cool, I thought but that was the mistake I shouldn't have. It smelled good I thought. I got home sat down and opened the food, to find that the food was already cold as if it's already been sitting for a long time. I mixed everything and ate the bowl but it wasn't really to my tasting. There is A LOT of sauce and it makes it too sweet. I couldn't eat it. I popped out a ramen noodle from my kitchen and ate it instead and it tasted better than the dish. I'm not saying that the food isn't any good because I haven't tried the other food. I think I just had a bad first experience, and I don't know if I would go there again anymore. read more

We carried out 3 sandwiches and a vegan bowl. Sandwiches were fantastic (delicious and plenty of food). Side soups were great too. The vegan bowl was a joke. Half the container was empty and they didn't have avocado as advertised. Absurd amount of money for so little food...just greens and black beans and corn. We came in on a Friday night during the busiest time the restaurant has seen since opening earlier that week on Monday. The staff was friendly and ambience is great. Appleton's East side definitely needed this restaurant. The manager, Dustin, and our server, Luis, went above and beyond to satisfy customers. We had the shrimp ceviche to start and were extremely impressed. My fiancé had the black pepper-encrusted tuna and it was done to perfection. I had a delicious steak burrito. My fiancé and I tried UMK because we are Draft loyalists and they are owned by the same people. I enjoyed my experience at UMK. My fiancé ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I ordered the Chicken and shrimp skewers. My chicken and shrimp skewers tasted great. They came served in this really strange contraption that was meant to look like a fake grill, it made it a little challenging to eat my meal. I'm unsure if we will return to UMK for the meal because the experience was really casual for the cost of the food. The menu concept is also a little confusing, there is such a massive variety from a Mexican section to pizza and sandwiches. I would rather continue to go to draft because the ambiance is a little nicer, the prices are the same, we know the staff, and draft has hard alcohol and draft beer (UMK does not, I'm guessing they don't have a liquor license yet?). We enjoyed our first trip. The lobster roll was very tasty. Pricey at $18, but that is about the "normal price". The soup was enchilada soup and it was tomato base. It was very tasty with a bite to it. Husband had Buffalo Chicken on a salad and he said it was very good. Looking forward to trying more options at this place. read more

Very good start to finish! We visited for the first time for my sister's birthday. Our server (Preston? I missed it twice ) was great! There were five of us and we all ordered different dishes and shared. Everything was delicious and I really loved the Paloma drink I got! Serving size of the bowls were a little small so I'd order a side next time if I'm not sharing- but everything else was perfect. I can't say enough about the staff and environment. Every good.
