Was a great company but since they merged with Topes, they are sloppy. Communication was poor, left the job site incomplete stating they would come back the next day with proper equiptment but never showed up. They even left the worksite a mess and did not clean up. Took them 2 weeks to get it together and get back out and still didn't fully finish the job. They used to be prompt, efficient work, and professional but no longer is. read more

These guys did have to postpone our job because of a storm emergency but let me know when they could come. My neighbor was afraid one of my trees was going to fall on her house. Their estimator came out, confirmed that the tree was dead and dangerous and gave me a fair price to have it taken out. I got a call that afternoon and we schedule the removal today. The crew was very professional. They arrived exactly on time and got right to work. They met with my neighbor, explained what they were going to do and got her permission to temporarily remove some plants to keep them from getting damaged by falling branches. When they were done they cleaned up, replanted and checked with me to make sure I was happy. I admired how well they worked as a team. They were careful of their safety and went out of their way to protect my property and my neighbors. She was very relieved and pleased and will use Urban Lumberjacks in the future. This company, and its employees, are consummate professionals. They removed a 70 foot pine tree from my yard that was 5 ft from each of my neighbors houses & 1 ft from my house. Nothing was damaged & they cleaned up the 70 ft worth of "sawdust snow." Not to mention cutting the trunk almost down to the ground. Urban Lumberjacks Knows How to Clean and Trim California Oaks We rarely do reviews, but after Urban Lumberjacks cleaned and trimmed our oak, it was time for us to comment, and give credit where credit is due. Urban Lumberjacks are the best at Oaks we've ever seen in our forty some years of tree-scaping. Simply put...It was not what you'd see if trimmers were clearing branches for powerlines, thank goodness. After much research, reading reviews, talking to other homeowners, and investigating other jobs, we decided to give the task of cleaning up and trimming our oak to Urban Lumberjacks. This oak is a family member and has been part of our home since the day it was built and is the first thing you see when you look at our home and is always in view when looking out on the valley below, it was and still is a major focal point. Jim's crew arrived right on time and immediately went to work. They carefully covered the delicate ferns below with plywood panels on folding easels, all trimming above was done by hand saw. Carefully selected branches and old dead limbs were removed with care and concern for the surrounding plants, the person on the team that did the climbing was experienced and knew oaks. Below men cleared debris and kept the yard as clean as possible. By the time the tree was completed it was beautiful! A natural, well-shaped and carefully trimmed tree looking like nature had intended. In conclusion, at the end of the day and after the crew was done with other trimming on the property, they cleaned up, helped to stack rounds I could split for firewood, swept up the saw dust, chips and small debris and left our home and property cleaner then when they started. Urban Lumberjacks are absolutely fantastic. When we bought our house a couple of years ago, the Seller hired a cheap trimming service who did a lousy job, basically trimming our Monterey Cypress like a hedge. It was terrible! Urban Lumberjacks came out and the whole experience was first rate: 1) I called them and they called right back; 2) they made an appointment and were on time; 3) they arrived as promised at 8 am and had as many as five guys working. We had three guys in the tree trimming branches that hadn't been trimmed since Junipero Serra last broke a sandal strap; 4) they cleaned up the tree and left it looking like a work of art; 5) they put up sheets of plywood held up by saw horses to protect our landscaping; 6) they cleaned up and left everything cleaner than when they arrived--and none of our delicate plants under the tree were damaged. I don't argue the point that there are likely cheaper services out there but I believe you truly get what you pay for. I thought Urban Lumberjacks price was very fair and reasonable and they really performed. They get my highest, unqualified rating! read more

The guys at Urban Lumberjacks are clearly the best. They came out right away and gave us a competitive estimate, without the usual hemming and hawing and price inflation. They even worked on the 4th of July weekend! The crew was very professional, pleasant, skilled, and incredibly hard-working, hand-carrying huge sections of cut logs up our sloping yard for hours. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the quality of the work this company provided because, after giving me an estimate in early January, they told me over and over they would be trimming my oaks "very soon" so that I did not seek out a different company. Today is March 16th the day they promised and scheduled to come, (it is already really too late for oak trimming as it should ideally be done in the coldest days of winter before spring leafing out) and they didn't show up, after much juggling of schedules on my part. I checked my messages and sure enough, they had called yesterday afternoon, and cancelled on my message machine again, after giving me this time weeks ago. I am very upset, not only because I will need to wait another year to get the trimming done, but because I could have had the work done by someone else if this company had not repeatedly assured me the work would get done this winter. I made so many calls and tried to be patient, but when I called today to complain about their having cancelled at the last minute, I was told they always give former clients priority, and so I was constantly being shuffled to the end of the line. Of course I was not told any of this early in the process. This lack of reliability and professionalism is most regrettable. I relied on their repeated reassurances to my detriment.
