My husband and I were in the market for some new lights, and our tastes seem to be kind of specific and difficult to find, so we decided to check this place out. We walked in, were greeted by the lady at the front door, and then never acknowledged the entire time we were in the store. We walked around for a good long while, noticing the employees standing around at the desk, chatting with each other. I guess we didn't look like we were supposed to be in there or like we could afford what they had, so we left. If we had seen what we were looking for, I would have considered interrupting one of the sales people to try to get some help, but they just didn't have what we were looking for. read more

Went in on Sunday because of the 40% off sale. Our sales associate, Jared was extremely attentive. He took the time to explain the website and wish list option. Even though we didn't purchase a large order, we appreciated the time he took with us. If I could give stars for certain aspects of the experience, I would. It was at Will Call that the most atrocious, rudeness of customer service occurred! I have had a career in high stress, high impact customer service for 10 years. DEPLORABLE! inches away from the sales associates who were involved in a conversation and DID NOT take 2 seconds from their time to acknowledge us! If they acknowledged us, this review would be different. We sat for 3 MINUTES AND 47 SECONDS before WE said "excuse me"The male associate said "sorry" The female associate didn't say a word. Stared us down and stormed off to another computer. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Yes, I timed everything and notice things like this because of my previous career. If you wish to experience high prices, judged, and feel like you are inferior because of your attire, then this is the place for you. They have a great looking show room with a wonderful selection of lighting. The sales staff was super helpful once we finally got someone to help us. Our lights had to be special ordered and the process was horrible after that. I could not get anybody to return a phone call and every time I called to check the status I was given the same story about all of the customer service agents being unavailable and asked to leave a message. And the lady who answers the phone and sits at the front desk is crazy nasty rude. Ultimately we got exactly what we need at an excellent price. But, good grief, they can do a lot better at customer service. read more

When I visited Urban Lights I was amazed at the fantastic customer service and amazing selection! Absolutely nothing like Lighting Liquidators or Lamps Plus. The layout of the store is nice because I can actually see what I'm looking for & their lights are stylish and in stock! They have unique lighting fixtures and they were running a great sale to promote their opening. I even got a chance to meet the owner! I was really impressed with the amount of knowledge my sales person had, she even told me she could come to my house to help with measurements. I defiantly learned allot that day and picked out a new dining room light for my remodel. I would defiantly go back and will recommend Urban Lights to anyone who is looking for a hip new fixture at an awesome price. read more

Been in 4x. First time to purchase a hard to find lamp part - first salesperson said they would be right back, disappeared never to be seen again. Second salesperson we cornered at the "desk" - very stoic and unfriendly but he did manage to get us the part ordered. Back in 3 more times to shop for "designer" lighting for multiple rooms. Never was approached, greeted (even the person at front desk preferred to read a book rather than say hello) and when we were ready with questions "sales people" would see you trying to make eye contact and they quickly move in different direction to avoid contact - really the worst customer service retail experience in recent memory. So took my $$$$ shopping elsewhere for good. read more

Would give a negative star review if it was possible. I've been in this store twice and both occasions, the sales people were extremely rude and judgmental. Looked at a light fixture and said that I wished it came smaller and a saleswoman walked past me and said over her shoulder "that comes in 3 light" and proceeded to walk away. She was clearly not helping any one at the moment and just passed us by. I'm not a person who writes negative reviews but the attitude of the sales people is seriously crap. You're much better off doing your own research and buying from Wayfair or some other outlet. Studio Como recommended that I special order lighting for my art collection from Urban Lights. I hired the installer that Urban Lights specifically recommended for the job, Metro Lighting Services. MLS caused over $1000 in damage to my ceiling during the installation and then hired Bison Property Services to fix the ceiling. BPS caused more damage to the ceiling and left the job with no lights working in my entire brand new home. As Urban Lights' recommendation got me into this mess in the first place, I brought the problem to their attention. Accidents happen all the time - which I understand - but what has been so disappointing is Urban Lights' unwillingness to help fix the problem or compensate me for their negligent recommendation of MLS. Urban Lights also somehow deflected my BBB complaint. I have paid for the damage and seem to have no further recourse. Urban Lights has no integrity and they have lost my business for life. I hope you choose to purchase your lighting elsewhere. Update since posting this review: Metro Lighting Services has now reimbursed me for the cost I incurred to repair the damage. read more

ATTENTION URBAN LIGHTS MANAGEMENT! You are SO GOOD at taking our orders and grabbing our money, but SO VERY BAD at actually providing the items we ordered! I placed my order in September and I am still waiting for missing fixtures in November. You need to either improved your working relationship with your vendors or stop lying about delivery dates. Something is wrong! Next time, maybe I'll use your nice showroom to make my choices and then go buy it all at LampsPlus, where cheerful sales people take orders and actually deliver fixtures to customers as promised. We had a very helpful saleswoman when we came for our original appointment and placed a large order for our new home. HOWEVER, the follow through was LESS THAN STELLAR. We never got a call that our fixtures were in and I had to call twice to get any information at all. The promised delivery date had come and gone without any contact from Urban Lights staff, and I never got an apology or explanation for the delay. Very poor way to run a business. To top it off, when we returned to the store to pick up something our sales person had MISHANDLED in our original order, she acted like she had never met us and waved us off to "will call" very dismissively. HEY LADY! I JUST SPENT $6000 IN YOUR STORE! YOU SHOULD HAVE THE COURTESY TO RECOGNIZE ME OR AT VERY LEAST SAY HELLO. You sell lighting fixtures for a living; you're not the Queen of England. Geez. Meanwhile, I am still waiting for the missing pieces of my order that were supposed to be in the store LAST WEEK. And again, no courtesy call from the delightful staff at a Urban Lights. When I called again today, I was told I have to wait ANOTHER week before the items are even delivered to the store and ready for pick up! So much for meeting promised delivery dates. I hate giving bad reviews...but hey. This place has some cool lights, some expensive prices. And there were a few lights I may have went forward with purchasing, however, I will not support a business if the employees can't even acknowledge you are in their store. I think we were even the only customers in that giant place at the time. And a bunch of employees were standing around offering zero help. I think we asked an employee a question at one point, they answered, and offered nothing further. Maybe they don't earn commission, doesn't mean you should do a lesser job of your job. Or maybe we did not look worthy of their time, who knows! I ordered a couple thousand dollars worth of lighting for a remodel in our home. I had great service when I walked in but the person who helped me left the company shortly after. Because of her departure I was handed off to someone else who did a poor job. One item was mistakenly written in the order incorrectly. I found that error as well as misquoted prices. I used email for all my transactions so I had "written" quotes which were honored. Even though I arranged to have the items delivered there were certain items I needed to pick up for the contractor and when I got home they were the wrong items. The back-ordered light fixture came in and I never received any notification. The note on the delivery package said an email was sent from the original sales person. I never received that email. It was supposed to be delivered since I originally paid for it. Yesterday I was told the item would arrive yesterday. It didn't come until today. Not a big deal if no other arrangements have to be made like having an electrician there to install, for example. But the worst thing was the chandelier we bought needed special mounting pieces. I had arranged for the chandelier to be installed. Scaffolding had to be erected. A BIG project. Because we did not know about the special mounting required panic ensued and the guys were at my home well into the night. This lighting company only goes as far as what ordering on-line will do...gets the product to you, but with less accuracy. The price was a bit more than on-line because of the taxes, etc. added on. read more

We are going through a major remodel, went here to purchase pendant lights for our new peninsula, Rick was great and helped us find what we were asking for, however when we got them, one did not work, being an led light, we had to take it back. Because it had to be modified to fit, the lady, I use this term loosely, that we took it too, treated us like we were trying to pull a fast one instead of trying to understand our situation. I have spent over 30 years in some sort of customer service position and to be treated like this to say the least infuriated me! But if you don't try to return anything from them, I imagine you will be happy if you don't mind spending quite a bit. read more

As an Interior Designer I love this lighting store for it's abundance of style choices. However, I did not have a sales person when I did a quick run through the store to locate a fixture for a client. I found it impossible to have anyone answer a question. I was told they would get back to me. They never came back. When I approached another salesperson she would not look at me but kept working on her computer. Her knowledge about the fixtures was superb and if she didn't know, she quickly went to find out what we wanted to know. My friend and I were in the store for at least 3 hours and she managed to find us just when we needed her. She made it clear if we had any questions on anything she would help us. Quick review to say that I do like Urban Lights better than when it was Foothills. In particular, we are trying to get our house listed for sale and had a couple of hard to find bulbs and replacement issues for our light fixtures. I went shopping with my friend for her place and the variety of styles offered is amazing!! The staff doesn't follow you around (and borderline harass you) while your viewing the showcase (which is refreshing)! But they were friendly, knowledgable (with electrical install questions) and supper helpful when we decided on a piece to buy. The installation assistance they offered was a plus (but not needed). Katy Jo at urban lights is wonderful! I was picking lighting for an entire house and she helped me tremendously. She met with me three times including once on site at my house! She helped me with both the lighting plan and picking out fixtures. I am not an easy client as I am indecisive and particular but Katy was endlessly patient and professional. She has a great design sense and after learning of my style and tastes was able to select pieces for me that I would have missed out on otherwise. My electrician highly recommended that I go to UL for landscaping lights because he assured me they would help me find the right combination of lights for my landscaping project. I received no such assistance or insight. I ended up ordering some lights because I felt like I had to get something accomplished on my project list but left the store feeling just awful. Not only am I cancelling my order, I am canceling my appt with the electrician who recommended that I shop here. I felt like a burden and an inconvenience to the sales person. Worse than the sales person with the dismissive attitude was the manager who listened to our exchange but didn't do anything to help his staff member deal with an irate customer. He didn't even acknowledge me. Serious customer service issues that cost UL and the electrician my business. read more

Horrible customer service and unhelpful sales staff. Ordered a light that needed to be special ordered, sales person added on light bulbs (at a premium of course) without consulting us. Wrong light came in, we tried calling to discuss and were put on hold for 20 minutes- after hanging up and calling back no one answered. They gave us a hard time inspecting every little piece and interrogating my wife about the light. They initially tried to charge us restocking fee to return it until we put up a huge fuss. Gene on the showroom floor is awesome, However not much can be said for the people in will call. I have been there three times, every time i am told i don't have an account and i have to pay my balance before i can get my ordered materials. Once i wait long enough and ask the right questions it ends up that their system needs to be updated. Terrible customer service - staff was actually rude and making snide remarks to our face! They screwed up the order, incorrectly logged the balance to paid and half the delivery didn't arrive on time. Geez I bet the electric bill this place receives every month is astronomical. It is insane how many lights are on display here. I can't find the words to describe it.... it is like an art gallery, maybe. I love this place. I first came here to replace the hideous polished brass chandelier with yellowed glass and cobwebs that sadly hung in my kitchen. One of the sales people helped me find a style I liked within my budget. Three weeks later, I received a call that it was in and ready to pick up. Talk about amazing customer service!! There are a lot of negative reviews that I don't understand. Lighten up!!! This place is giant, and if no one sees you, go to the counter and ask for help! I love to support local businesses, and it is my opinion that there will always be a place for brick and mortar stores like this. I have come here on several occasions, and it is always great to get a professional's opinion or just look around. I did have to wait once, but the way I see it- no big deal. We Americans rush so much and want everything right away that we lose site of the target. Human interaction, professionalism, supporting local businesses and customer service. And getting rid of those ugly lights. I have not tried this yet, but apparently you can make appointments. I have had the misfortune of visiting two other lighting stores in Denver, and let me tell you, they suck. They don't have the selection and knowledge base that this place has. I won't name the others- but one has a super high ceiling, and all the lights are hung so high you can't see the detail. The other one was the size of my dorm room in college. This place is like the size of a football field, minus the sweaty athletes in tight pants. The one negative thing I have to say about this place is that the soap in the bathroom tastes pretty bad. I went to Urban Lights upon the recommendation of my handyman. They are in the same location as the old Foothills Lighting. I had done a lot of research online and was familiar with the prices of certain fixtures. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Urban Lights' prices (with their 40% discount off the ticket price for non-sale items) was cheaper than the online stores I had visited. They had a good selection of lights which were organized by style and other categories rather than being mixed all together. Susan B, a salesperson, approached me and helped me pick out some lights. She had a good sense of what styles worked with my existing lighting. I found her very knowledgeable and helpful. I ended up buying a light for our foyer, dining room and two lights for our front porch. I'm glad to have found a good lighting store in Denver. read more
