Purchased two high-end Onyx Boulders from Colorado Materials. Couldn't find them anywhere else…read moreafter checking Pioneer and other local landscape material yards. Since I'm a rock collector too, I appreciate the beauty and value of their Onyx and Obsidian decorative boulders. They were delivered and placed in my front yard by Javier yesterday 7/17/25. Javier did an amazing job-- he was considerate of his skid steer fork lift in terms of damaging our grass, plants, sprinkler heads, and lawn. He had me lay quarter inch plywood on the lawn for him to drive over. When it came to a forsythia plant that was right in his path to place one of the boulders behind it, he had me hold the branches upright close to its center so it would fit between his two fork extensions and not be harmed. Then once in place, he tweaked the position of both boulders using one of the fork extensions to push one side of the boulder furrther back, bringing the other side more to the front. It was masterful to watch him do this. As you can see from the attached photo, our Onyx boulders are beautful, adding much to our landscape. Couldn't be happier!!

When we got home, I noticed one was potentially full of mold and the other had a huge gash in it that was affected its integrity. When I tried to have them replaced, they said no - even though we didn't get to select the boards. They didn't return the boards, but kept them and then I had to buy a new board and they at least gave me new one board free that I got to pick out. It was a horrible experience and I wasn't trying to return bad boards I picked, they did the picking. Management didn't provide quality customer service and I know I will never go there again. The person who was at the register and the one who cut my new boards had supreme customer service - management can learn a thing or two from them.

Chris took a significant amount of time to help me acquire an item (gift) from the top shelf of an isle and then some materials needed for a repair. The items took us all over the store and about 30 min total but he was patient and helpful the entire time. I also had a really good customer service experience where I left something at the self checkout, called, and it was waiting for me the next time I came in. If this trend keeps up I will be updating this to a 4 or 5 in no time!

The first "surprise" was that the installers cannot connect the water line to the ice maker. We were told we needed a plumber to do this - nobody ever said this at time of purchase, nor have we ever had this experience with previous purchases. This refrigerator was literally dumped in our kitchen with the only service being the unwrapping of the unit - which unveiled a large ding and scratch on the top. The installers called their contact and we were given a substantial discount, however, this in NO WAY makes up for the inconvenience and horrific experience of this purchase and delivery. We were inundated with trying to level, connect, set temperatures and attach parts that we know nothing about with technical instructions that are confusing and difficult to understand. This entire experience is horrific and I cannot even begin to express my dissatisfaction with the purchase and subsequent "service."

It used to be a reliable place to get any type of building supplies at decent used quality for a "this has definitely been used" price. Now it's wildly overpriced. This review is almost more for me to remember to stop driving down to Boulder to try shopping here. Example: selling the 15gal barrels they receive their deicing salt in for winter - for $15. Barrels seem to be priced at $1/gal now, even when they're deformed or broken. So expect to pay $5 for a 5-gal bucket, $35 for a 35gal can and $50 for a 55gal. Saw $45 for a utility sink made of the same cheap plastic as Walmart Adirondack chairs - not the older, indestructible molded utility sink type. Bent and broken rakes and shovels for $5-20. It's just wild. Pieces of pallets are priced as though they're new stock lumber, and they don't even list the lumber prices anymore (were they to have any, which they didn't)... with the way everything else is priced, there's no way I'll even bother checking. At this point it's cheaper and more reliable to buy new from Home Depot which is beside the point of this place and it sucks!! The quality of used goods did not improve in the past 2 years, so why the price tripled is beyond me, but it's not worth it. Bye, Resource Central. I really loved you while you were affordable. After the water mitigation system & drywall repair was completed, I called Family Carpet One to re-install the vinyl flooring.
