It's taken me a little while to write this as I kept hoping I'd get a response from Ryane Urie to get my tattoo fixed. I'm not sure if she was just having a bad day or if her work is as amateur as what she did on me. I specifically asked for a watercolor tattoo and also wanted some geometric detail to it and she basically did what looks like a clip art version of what I wanted her to do. The tattoo is not only nothing special, it has obvious mistakes such as a lines that make no sense and look like she misplaced the needle. I'm really bummed because I got this tattoo in a very obvious place and now I've been self-conscious about it since I got it. On top of that, she quoted me one price and overcharged me after that fact, and also didn't count in that I had already paid her a deposit. I was pretty exhausted after the tattoo and a little disappointed which I didn't know how to react to in the moment so I just paid and left. When I expressed my frustration after that fact, she didn't even bother to respond about wanting to fix the tattoo. On top of all that, throughout the process she was having super negative conversations with her coworkers, criticizing someone and talking really poorly in general. Not the best vibe. I'm really bummed that I have this ugly tattoo I overpaid for that I'm probably going to have to get removed now. Thanks for waisting my time and money Ryane. :( read more

I would not recommend Rocky for a piercing, especially if you are scared and apprehensive. He has no patience or explaination of his services even after 15 years of piercing. Because I asked too many questions about his procedure he got frustrated and mad. He would not allow me to watch as he prepared for my piercing. He told me just to sit back or he was not going to do me. By then I became really scared and apprehensive so I asked to be excused while he pierced my daughter to get myself together. He said he wasn't going to do me or my daughters. Then he proceeded to rip up my documents and throw them on the floor. He yelled at me and my two daughters to get out of the shop so loud and disrespectfully that the entire shop went silient. All eyes were on us as we exited Urban Element Tattoo without saying a word. Very said experience to say the least. I can't help but think that for Rocky it was a color thing! We are Black! read more

***Dont judge Urban Element because of Ryane Urie*** I had a consult with Ryan Urie to finish a sleeve but then when it came time for the tattoo she flaked and lied 3 different times. I contacted Rowell for a consult and told him about the drama with Ryane. He was so embarrassed that she had done this in his shop and bent over backwards to make it right. He got my appointment in early and even gave me a $150 credit to make up for Ryane wasting my time and the $80 deposit she took from me. Ryane had told me that there was mistreatment of the LGBT community in the shop and that turned out to be a complete lie. Urban Element is LGBT friendly, they're by appointment only so it doesn't turn into a hang out like over at Certified Customs and other places, and they're professional artists who still believe in customer service. I've shopped all over Denver and Urban Element is the all around winner. read more

I can honestly say, I actually design tattoos around times she will be here or I will be out there. Her geometric and watercolor images are so amazing. Having never been tattooed before (and having been just turned away) I was super nervous. From the moment I walked in everyone was friendly and laid back. I had two tattoos on the inside of my wrists that I desperately needed covered up. I did a ton of research, and came across Brian Ulibarri with UrbanElement. We emailed back and forth, and he was gracious when I would randomly email him with a design I saw online. I didn't have anything in specific that I had my heart set on, but I was impressed with his watercolor work and the originality of all of his pieces. Ultimately, he came up with two amazing designs that no other artist I had talked to before thought could be done. I was told I'd need to cover them (nautical stars) with flowers or something that just wasn't me or my taste. Well, Brian covered the first one beautifully. You'd never be able to tell it was a cover up. He was professional, asked frequently how I was doing, and answered all of my questions sincerely. I never once felt out of place. As for the shop itself: It's clean, well organized, well lit, and welcoming. The other upside is that they're an appointment only shop, so there aren't random people walking in off of the street to distract everyone. I will absolutely be going back to get my other wrist done, and my fiancee is already in talks to get some of his work finished. We will follow Brian wherever he goes. read more

Before going to Urban element I had been looking for the perfect artist to be the one who I would go to for all the pieces I plan on getting to make my sleeve. I am very picky, i searched for months, and I came across Ryane Urie in Inked magazine. Ryane is incredible, her details and line work are unrivaled and she is so creative. Ryane nailed every single color that I wanted with perfection and her black and grey work is incredible too. The shop she works out of, Urban Element, is a very clean, and awesome shop located in downtown Denver. Based on many friends' recommendations, I requested to be on waiting list for Rowell. People told me he is worth the wait. Since I fly to Colorado often, I figured I can swing by and replace my existing tattoo. The wait has come and Rowell did not disappoint!!! I can not believe he was able to transform my old crappy looking tattoo to an amazing art. Many people have complimented my new tattoo. Rowell was professional. I searched for months in Denver to find an artist. I had the pleasure of running across Ryane Urie's work when I was on the Urban Element site. At the time she was in Hawaii. We conversed via email about what I had in mine. She was responsive and I was super excited to meet her. When I finally got the chance to, she was full of energy and that was one of the things that ended a lot of the nervousness I had with getting a tattoo. The work she's doing for me will take some time but I don't honk I could've have picked a better artist to work on this for me and I'm excited about the way this project is going to come out. read more

Disappointed in Rowell for not caring about me as a customer and not listening to me during the consultation of the tattoo I wanted! First off he didn't have the drawing ready by the time he said he would and so instead of coming in like we discussed to revise the piece I heard from him a week later through e-mail! The drawing he sent me looked like he found it on google because it wasn't done by hand but besides that it was not anything close to what i talked about with him! It seemed like my tattoo was an afterthought and I was bummed that I went from being a fan of his work to not wanting him to tattoo me at all! He sent the terrible rendition of what I asked for the day before the tattoo was supposed to happen so I bailed! Keep your $50.00 deposit! And I don't even care that I waited 2 months to even speak to you because your waiting list is so long, it wasn't the experience with you I thought I was going to get anyway! But on the bright side he has stacked his shop with really talented artists besides himself so I have checked out someone else in the shop and hope that I can have a better experience with them! This is an amazing shop with many great artists. I had done a lot of research regarding artist's and their portfolios. I have been working with Mickey Myers. He has done a couple of beautiful pieces for me, and we have more lined up. I have spent a decent amount of time there getting tattooed, and have seen a lot of work that the other artists do, and not a single one of them has been anything less then amazing. Urban Element Tattoo is a wonderful shop. It is very clean, trendy, and the staff is extremely nice. Many of my family members have tats by Rowell. Rowell is wonderful. He is not your average tattoo artist. While he can give you an average cookie cutter design (if that is what you are looking for) but he specializes in the out of the box designs. He is very talented and his designs and use of colors are amazing. He can take your idea and suggest other things to make it unique and so much better! He is professional and very friendly.
