Dedication is a traditional tattoo shop on South Broadway.They're open 7 days a week. You can request a free consultation and make an appointment, or if you can walk in on a whim. I only have a few tattoos, and usually the ones I have some type of significance. When my grandpa passed a few years ago, I knew I wanted to get something to honor him. He taught me how to drive, owned over 100 cars, and loved driving more than anything, so I figured a car would be a great way to memorialize him. Matty was the artist to bring my idea to life. He designed a mid to late 60's mustang with florals and a silhouette of my grandpa in the driver's seat. I was in love with the design as soon as he unveiled it. Based on the placement I wanted the piece on my arm I had to lay down in an awkward position, but Matty worked quickly and tattooed delicately. I couldn't be any happier with the finished product! As far as the shop is concerned, everyone was super polite. It can be intimidating walking into a tattoo shop, and you can tell they cultivated an environment for all here. Dedication Tattoo is located on a very busy street. Parking is scarce but you will find a spot. Note: They only take cash. That's right, good old fashion currency. No debit cards, credit cards, cash app, Apple Pay, Zelle, money orders or checks, buuuuut, they have an ATM on-site. Aaron, is an amazing Artist! He was patient and made sure my tattoo was perfect to my liking. It took many stencils for me to decide. He was upfront with his recommendations regarding color, size, spacing, etc. He gave suggestions including pros and cons and allowed me to make the final decision. He completed my tattoo in record time. He also made sure I was comfortable every step of the way, and explained everything every step of the way. A friend came up from San Antonio in April and we decided to get matching mountain tattoos. We made an appt , used the same guy and design. I saw my friend this last weekend in Austin and she showed me her tattoo. There is barely any left - see day of tattoo and current day tattoo. I called and asked the shop if she could get it redone or touched up. They told me it had been past 90 days and she would have to pay full price again ($125). I was disappointed that they did not stand behind their work. Update: I was called by Aaron at Dedication asking my friend to come in so he could redo her tattoo. i feel the need to leave this review and i apologize to the current staff if things have changed but i need to share my experience. i got my first tattoo here about 3 years ago when i was freshly 18 and had never been to a tattoo shop before. i already had several piercings and should have asked my piercer for a reference to avoid all this but i decided to choose a random shop since it was such a simple tattoo. it was a 1x2 inch outline of a direct reference photo of a lizard on my thigh. not huge, not tiny, not super thin lines just an easy outline. i went with my sister who was also getting a simple tattoo and immediately the girl at the desk was rude and snappy which did not help since i was already nervous. that's fine, we get back to our artist who is a man with a beard and he is friendly. long story short my tattoo ended up fine but definitely blown out in some spots as he was pushing the needle very deep into my thigh. (which could have been necessary for that spot but i have not had any similar experiences getting tattoos in all the years after) i am not a tattoo artist but i have had plenty more experiences with other shops since this one and i have realized that this is not a very good job. i was happy at the time mostly just to be done, he taped some plastic wrap to my leg (not second skin or anything related) and i paid and tipped well and left. i have since gotten the tattoo covered up/filled in but the outline is still apparent. it's fine but this was definitely a learning experience to research your artist even if it is a small and simple tattoo and i felt the need to share. read more

This was my first tattoo - 61 yrs old. Everyone in this shop is awesome and they treat folks great. My daughters sent me there. James Motz did my ink and he is a seriously great artist and really good dude. I saw some other people getting cool stuff done also. I brought in a photo of something similar to what I wanted that another buddy got a couple of years ago but felt it could be done better. I gave James the green light to do his thing with it and he did not disappoint - it came out awesome! Dedication is the best shop. It's a bold statement, yes, but the craftsmanship and the talent of the artists as well as the experience I had in getting two sleeves done there warrant such a claim. Sam Yamini was my artist, and there's a reason he is so well known in the space. His large scale Japanese work is second to none, and I could not be happier with how my work turned out. Spending so much time in the shop getting tattooed, you will invariably see the work of the other artists as well. Every piece I saw was excellent, from the smaller, one session walk-ins to the meticulously planned large scale projects. The artists are fantastic across the board. I tracked Brian Thurow down because I'd heard he'd opened his own shop and had my whole upper back done at his previous shop in TX. I needed a tribute tattoo for my grandmother and he absolutely nailed it. The shop is clean as hell, every artist has talent and you will never get a crappy tattoo here. The second cancellation was because another client before me wanted to keep going and so the shop called me an hour before to cancel my appointment. I scheduled an appointment with Alec Rowe and got tattooed on June 17th at the start of the day. When I first came in for the consultation with Alec a week or two before the appointment, he was super friendly off the bat and helped me think up ideas to fill up the rest of the bottom half of my right leg. I have a lot of American Traditional pieces and wanted to continue that theme. We decided on a dragon head and anvil. When it came to the day of the appointment, I came in early, and Alec was working on the line drawings to make the stencils. He showed me what he had drawn up and both were so sick. We had to size down the dragon head a little as it was too big to fit in the open spot on my leg. The tattooing process itself was super smooth. There were of course some spots by the tendon that got spicy, but other than that it was not as bad or painful as I thought it was going to be. Alec and I agreed on pricing before the appointment, so it was nice to get that figured out beforehand. Overall, Alec knocked these tattoos out of the park. Both the dragon head and anvil came out super clean, and the whip shading is super solid. I cannot recommend Alec enough to those who want some nice American Traditional work done. I am a mother of four, and it was my eldest child's first experience - both in a tattoo shop and to be tattooed. As a parent, my expectations were high. Upon arrival all employees were personable and kind. The shop was exceptionally clean and visually stimulating. My daughter took a handwritten "I love you" from my grandmas and me. Alec, her artist, mentioned that the size could become faded after a few years. He scanned and enlarged it a bit. Alec then printed it on temporary paper and applied the temporary. He made sure the size and placement were exactly what my daughter wanted. He was gentle and explained each step of the process as he tattooed her forearm. His demeanor made her comfortable; she laid there smiling. The price was reasonable, so she tipped Alec generously. We drove from Colorado Springs to Dedication purely based on a recommendation. Alright, this is my new favorite tattoo shop. They are all amazing here and the guy that did mine, Sam Yamini did an amazing job on my Disney key tattoo. He was awesome at telling what would and wouldn't work and steered me away from anything that would look bad afterward which I really appreciated. Alec was really nice and gave me my first tat! I was a walk in too! After having a consultation quoted at 380 bucks at certified tattoo for a little finger tat I called some friends and asked if that was normal and heard a resounding NO WAY! They were trying to rip me off. So glad I found this place. I've been turned away from so many shops because they have been nervous to give a finger tat as a first tat and this studio told me all the warnings but I've wanted it for years. I came here as moral support for a friend who had an appointment for a cover up about a year ago so I wasn't expecting to get a tattoo of my own. We enter the shop and are greeted with smiles and great vibes. She mentioned having an appointment and started checking in. The guy helping her turned to me asking what I was coming in for and I told him moral support mainly but did ask if they accepted walk ins. He said they did and that they had an apprentice on site that could tattoo me if I wanted one. I said sure and had a seat to wait for the apprentice to come out to consult me. About ten minutes later he comes and shows me his portfolio just to ensure that I'm comfortable getting tattooed by him. His work was really good and professional so I said let's do it. He brings me back and asks me to hold as still as possible so his line work comes out evenly. This was my fourth tattoo so I knew what to expect in terms of pain levels but I honestly did not feel this tattoo at all. He was so gentle I had to ask if he was really giving me a tattoo because I couldn't feel anything. The tattoo came out wonderful and looked really good next to my rose tattoo. Went here with my best friend to get a matching tattoo to celebrate us both turning 40. The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating for just walking in. Haley took a look at our idea and drew up a sketch fairly quick. It was just what we were looking for....a ying yang tattoo with Colorado/California theme. I went first since it was my first time, and Haley did a great job explaining what he was doing with preparing the area for ink. He also kept verbally checking in on me to make sure that I was alright. It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. The process was also fairly quick. The most painful part was the hot water towel on the tattoo, prior to putting the bandage on. I had mine done on my inside left ankle, while my friend had hers on her back just below her neck. They cleaned up the area and got it ready for my friend's tattoo. Haley did an equally great job on hers and we were out the door with plenty of time to enjoy our day.
