Keep in mind that since this is not your typical bánh mì experience that these prices may be a bit shocking compared to what you're used to. The sandwiches range between $10 to $15 each. You are able to select your choice of protein and bread (the traditional baguette or a steam bun). They also have a few other dishes besides bánh mì, such as rice entrees and vermicelli noodles salads. We came in on a Saturday afternoon and it was not busy at all. There was maybe one or two other people there when we came in. There is a parking lot, but it is quite small. The customer service was okay...My boyfriend felt like he was being rushed by the staff member taking our order when there wasn't anyone else in the store besides us at the time we ordered. We got the urban pork bánh mì and the crunchy chicken and bacon bao. Both were delicious and filling! The urban pork was filled with lots of meat! The crunchy chicken and bacon bao was a bit messier to eat since the bao isn't as great at holding the insides of the sandwich compared to the baguette. Covid update- they're open during covid so we ordered and picked up to enjoy at home. Ok so let me tell you this about this place, it is the bomb! Seriously though, my mom is a little obsessed with banh mi's so she'll always bring me some home to try out. So I can say I've had my fair share over the years. For me a lot of them are good but nothing to write home about but I have to say Urban Chops has changed my mind. The banh mi they make here were so flavorful and what I really liked was that they had a little twist on the original banh mis I've come to know and were really just packed with flavor in every bite. Like bacon added to a banh mi, or calamari- pure genius. The baguette they used was perfect not too hard or soft though my only complaint if i had one was the burger bread was a little too soft so you have to eat it right away or it'll start to fall apart from all the juices. But they're not stingy here with the meat and use good quality which is a reason I've never been crazy about banh mi either ( many places give you tons of fat). But if you're in the area try it out, they're banh mi's done right. read more

Lemongrass chicken bahn mi was fantastic. Super flavorful chicken - you can tell it had quite some time in a marinade. Fantastic fresh bread - crispy on the outside, soft inside. Urban Chops, take my money!!!!! Upon trying their Crunchy Chicken and Bacon Bao Burger at my first visit, I became hooked and Urban Chops has since ousted Katsu Burger as my favorite fusion burger in the PNW. Their chicken is SO crunchy on the outside but juicy on the inside--it's magical. I love the thick, tasty slabs of bacon, and the pickled carrots and radish add a nice acidity to the burger. I didn't know what to expect of the bao buns, but they were soft and added a slightly sweet flavor profile to the burger. Their spicy aioli sauce is addictive and brings the perfect amount of heat. There were so many contrasting elements working in harmony with each other that made each bite more satisfying than the last. As much as I love their burger, their standout ingredient to me is the crunchy chicken. I have since been back several times to try it in different forms, such as in a rice dish, as well as in a kids meal (just chicken and rice). It's the best fried chicken I've ever had, and I hope they never change it. I've also tried their Coconut Curry Prawns and Pork Banh Mi. I loved the curry flavor of the prawns that reminded me of my grandma's Vietnamese curry. It was very delicious, but I feel like nothing contends with their Crunchy Chicken because that alone is too good. If you're craving something sweet, give their Creme Brulee a shot. I was not disappointed. Overall, I was very impressed with the quality and uniqueness of their food, and I hope they're here to stay for decades on end. read more

I've been hesitant to come because this place only serves Bahn Mi (I thought). Turns out, you can order rice dishes or vermicelli as well. Vermicelli was what I was going to with curry shrimps and chickens (rather than pork). Nice of the willing to let me change the protein. Somehow, I guess she didn't hear what I said and places my order with Bahn Mi. I am so glad that happened. Their French bread is so crunchy and not like some of the hard tough ones you can get from other places. The outside of the bread almost looks like it was fried with extra crispy. I could use a little bit more curry and cilantros. But, overall it tasted really good. The soft shell crab also not bad. We ordered with steam bun and worked really well with a piece of fried wonton to keep it crispy along with the crab. Worked out nicely. Inside of this place, there are only a few tables simple setup inside with water and cups self serve. Not many parking outside. It is more a grab and go place. Suggest to order ahead of time since they make their food as they receive the order. I gave them 4 stars this time. Maybe next time they can surprise me with the vermicelli then I can give them all five stars. read more

SO so GOOD. I'm sad that it's quite far from where I am (I live in Seattle). Something like this closer to downtown would be so popular. I frequent little saigon for my traditional bahn mis. Urban Chops applied a beautiful, unique twist on the traditional bahn mis, but with all the authentic flavors still present. From the warm toasty baguettes, to the delicious pâté, and the incredible ratio of veggies to meat. While their banh mis are priced a little higher then what you'd find in Little Saigon, it's very much worth it. They stuff these sandwiches very well (see my pic for evidence) and it really does taste like a ~$10 sandwich. Pricing feels right and is justified. I will be arranging my next visit very soon. It sounded good and to be fair tasted good, BUT I got something they called a bahn mi and it was NOT traditional. Or at least nothing I've experienced before. Typically a bahn mi comes on a dry, flaky and sometimes bordering on stale bread. It makes you rethink your choices as your jaw cramps chewing grateful for the mix of flavors that more than makes up for it. The flavors being crisp, clean and tart. This was not that. It was on a very soft French bread, there was no pate in sight, it was missing the handful of bright herbs, and stranger yet... it was greasy. Mind you, it was still good and I'd eat there again, but NOT if I was craving a bahn mi. -1 for not being an actual bahn me -1 for greasy food and sticky floor. read more

The crunchy chicken bacon bao is awesome. It's basically the ultimate form of a fried chicken sandwich. The bao is super soft and lightly sweet. The chicken is crunchy, moist, and super tasty. The bacon is crispy. The vegetables compliment everything. It has the right combination and amount of everything. The burger bao is super good too, but I keep going back for the chicken bacon bao. Every time I'm nearby during lunch I'm headed here. Super good. Nice people. Only negative is that there's limited parking, so you may have to park a block away and walk over at times. Out for a Sunday drive and decided to give this spot a try for lunch. It was recommended by a friend. Hubs had the curry shrimp and pork banh mi and I had the crispy chicken and bacon banh mi. You can make your sandwich as a bao or bahn mi. We got one of each and the bao bun was pretty dry. The insides and toppings were great though, but the bao was crumbly. I really enjoyed this restaurant. I enjoy the food. I enjoy the quick service and I enjoy the people that serve me. The biggest complaint that I have overall is the fact that they are not open for longer hours or open for more convenient hours. Because let me tell you these sandwiches that they provide are fire and I would be more than likely to be ordering this at 10 o'clock at night or whenever I'm drunk because the food was amazing. Three things to consider. First, I thought the sandwiches were pretty good and good size (easily split in two for lunch size portions). We had the coconut curry shrimp on a roll and bacon crunch chicken on bao and they were both reasonably priced for what you get. Second, the lady at the counter was friendly and the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Third, my thoughts on the ambience and cleanliness of the establishment. This is where I had some problems. The place had been somewhat remodeled and could have been cute with some effort but was not. As far as cleanliness, the bare minimum appeared to be done (floors swept and tables wiped). BUT overall the dining area was dirty if you really looked around when you sat at at one of the tables. It affected my appetite to look at dark red sauce stains dripping all over the trash cans, dirty windows, heat thermometer covered in dust, surfaces all a bit sticky, etc. Kitchen area from what I could see looked normal. Would I eat here again. Probably not, but if I did I would definitely get it to go. read more
