Good Lao food in the area - especially if you don't want to travel to Seattle. Really came here to try the platter however they don't serve it everyday so was bummed about that. Still got my cravings in though! You order and pay at the front register then they bring out the food to your table. Overall, not bad and would call ahead next time to see if they can serve the platter!

Brought a group of 13 ladies celebrating September and October birthdays. One of the gals celebrating is Laotian, so she did yes let's go for it. I was the only one who had been here, and I love it. It was everyone else's first time. We all live about 20 minutes away so it's not bad at all. The service was amazing, Michael did a great job taking our orders, with no stress, he was actually pretty calm with having such a large group during lunch. Everyone loved what they ordered. Thank you Aileen for the complimentary chicken skins...mmm!!! Now that all my friends know where this place, I have to take my own family. Next time I want to try other items in the menu. The only reason I even heard of Sweet Rice is because as an Elite Yelp All Star I was invited to check out this place months ago. Thank you Yelp for introducing me to this place, and now my friends know about it Thanks Aileen!!

Went here for lunch with my husband during his lunch break. And it was great service very friendly and the food was good. We ordered a shrimp pad kee mao, Laos style papaya salad with shrimp, chicken wings, and a crab meat fried rice. Let's start off with the pad kee mao, it was full of flavor and I got it in 2 stars and it was a good spice lol. Second item was the crab meat fried rice with no spice for my kids to eat. And it was filled with crab meat, I would say it could use a tiny more season to it other than that it is good. The other dish we got was the Laos papaya salad and it's good! Very authentic flavors and we got that with shrimp and 1 star. And let me tell you that 1 star was pretty spicy but a good spicy. Next item was the chicken wings and it was good. Very crispy and good flavor to it I would definitely order that again. And lastly we got a few Thai tea drinks.

This was our second visit and we are so glad we returned. Everything was great the first time and everything was great the second time. Located in a smallish shopping center about 2 miles from the Auburn Outlet Collection (a Starbucks in the same parking lot btw). Free parking. Plenty of seating inside and a very congenial staff. Delicious savory food plus iced tea and coffee. Do watch out for the spice level - they are not kidding! Cute decor. Clean bathrooms.

Crispy Rice - you can clearly see how nicely portioned this is.

I want to give a full four star for this place but was disappointed in the crispy rice and not to mention that the entire place was freezing cold!! I could not get warm at all in this establishment. Last time I was here, the crispy rice was full of the pickled pork and full of flavor but when I came in yesterday I was digging through the rice for any signs of meat but they were so tiny and lacking. The Tom Kha soup was great, very flavorful and portion size was just right.

With all the construction and freeway closures, getting to Sweet Rice in Auburn from Shoreline was not bad at all on a Sunday. Traffic flowed smoothly each way and we didn't run into any issues. We arrived at 11 am opening and were immediately greeted and took a seat at a booth. Our server was attentive and made great recommendations. We ordered the Sweet Rice Mix Plate, which includes 3 meats: Lao Spicy Sausage, Crispy Pork Riblet & Beef Jerky and dipping sauce accompanied by sticky rice. Our meal also came with complimentary crispy chicken skin with 2 dipping sauces and sticky rice. We also ordered the recommended combo fried rice. All were delicious and flavorful! 3 stars was plenty spicy for us. I opted to try the Lao Papaya Salad, which was made with crab paste giving it a savory component. Not my favorite as I prefer the Thai papaya salad better, but I'm always up for trying something new.

    Beef Pho

Worst pho I've ever tried in my life. I ordered it to go and the second I opened it, the smell was disgusting honestly like straight up piss. It was so bad I didn't even want to look at it, let alone eat it. I have no idea how you mess up pho this badly, but this place managed to. Complete waste of money. Never coming back.

Food here was delicious! We got one appetizer and was given an appetizer that is not yet on the menu. Split between two people, we still had leftovers! Sweet Rice Mix Plate $24.99 There's sweet rice mix plate comes with three different types of meat, fried pork, riblets beef jerky, and a Lap spicy sausage. The beef jerky was a tad sweet, very well marinated, but does have that jerky texture which we were unsuspecting at first because the menu it just labels it as heavenly beef, but I didn't mind it as a lover of beef jerky . The fried pork riblets were so juicy. They were not greasy at all, and they had so much flavor with a pepper forward taste. The Lao spicy sausage was filled with lemon grass flavor that was herbal and really helped cut through the meanness of every item on this plate. It is spicy. It is not a fake mild spicy. It is definitely spicy but not an uncomfortable spicy instead, it is more like a nice kick. Thai Tea $4.99 Their Thai tea was very strong and you could tell that it was seeped in the leaves for a long time or at least uses a very strong mix to make the Thai tea. I did think this was a little too sweet but I am the type of person that likes my milk teas at 0% sweetness. Fried Chicken Skin not yet on the menu, but if they do put it on their menu, I would highly suggest you get it. It is so crispy not oily and although it is labeled as fried chicken skin, it does come with substantial chicken still attached to it. Seating is in booths which are spacious. We went on a weekday afternoon and it wasn't busy. We sat ourselves at any open booth and was given the menu at a later time.

We went with a big group of 8 people around 2 pm on a Sunday. It was still busy and I only saw two servers, but they managed to arrange a table for all of us, which I really appreciated given how small the restaurant is. I also liked that they have a self-ordering system on a screen, which made things quicker. The food leans on the sweeter side, but we still really enjoyed most dishes. My favorites were the Crispy Fried Pork Riblets, Lao Spicy Sausage, Somtam Thai, Laos Fried Rice, and Nam Khao. The Pad Thai was too sweet for my taste, the Beef Jerky was too hard and chewy, and the Fried Chicken Wings came out too dry. Still, overall it was a good experience and I'd come back if I'm in the area.

The Lao Platter alone is worth the visit! Served with papaya salad, rice noodles, cabbage, and pork rinds, it also includes other savory bites like hard boiled eggs, Vietnamese ham, cured pork sausage, egg rolls, chicken wings, crispy pork riblets, Lao beef jerky, Lao sausage, and sticky rice. The other dishes we ordered were full of flavor as well! I absolutely recommend the duck fat fried rice and the crispy fish, but you honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Service is friendly and fast! Dine-in or take it to go.

New favorite Thai restaurant !! I went here Sunday for a Yelp event, and got an order to go. I had excellent service and even better food. The restaurant was very clean and bright, they had lots of business which is always a good sign! I ordered my 2 favorites, crispy garlic chicken and pineapple chicken fried rice. Both were just how I wanted them to taste, delicious ! The portions are very big and well worth the price! I will be back for more!!

The vibe at this place is more casual similar to a fast food diner. You order at a kiosk, and then the staff brings the food to your table. I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken. Unfortunately, it was overly sweet. I understand Pad Thai tends to be on the sweeter side, but this was much sweeter than expected, especially compared to versions I've had at other places. I also ordered it with a highest spice level, but there was no heat at all. Beyond that, the dish lacked flavor overall, which made it a disappointment for me. I noticed the place was very crowded, which surprised me, given the experience. Maybe it works for others, but it just wasn't for me. Some of the staff seemed new and unsure about few processes, but the service was otherwise okay.

Sweet Rice - Where the Food is Fire and the Vibes are Friendlier Than Your Aunt at a Family BBQ If you've never had the pleasure of having your taste buds serenaded by Lao food, Sweet Rice is the place to begin your delicious descent into obsession. The food? Phenomenal. I'm talking "dream about it later" levels of good. Their laab had me questioning every salad I've ever eaten. The service? Friendlier than someone who offers you gum and a compliment. Staff treated us like regulars, even though it was our first time, and after that meal, it definitely won't be our last. Now, why 4 stars and not 5? Well, I reserve 5 stars for experiences where angels sing and my hair looks better afterward. There was a slight delay with one dish, but honestly, I didn't mind because I was too busy eavesdropping on a couple having a very intense debate. We also ordered everything family style so there was plenty to keep up content. We also struggled a bit to get waters refilled but I totally understand as the restaurant was busy. In short: Sweet Rice is sweet indeed. Come for the food, stay for the friendly faces--and maybe wear stretchy pants. You'll thank me later.

Other places will charge extra for the large size, or up charge for extra broth/noodles. Here, they give you a large portion upfront. Amazing. Also, you don't have to add hoisin or anything - broth comes with the perfect flavor already. You can add other toppings to your liking. My husband ordered (to my surprise) chicken noodle soup. He is normally a spicy curry type person, and I was very skeptical about his choice. Well, this is not your average chicken noodle soup. If anything, this is the furthest thing from it, in the best way. The noodles are thick, soft and chewy. They slightly remind me of mochi, although they're not sweet. The broth is also subtle, flavorful and a different taste profile from the pho. Everyone enjoyed this dish, especially my little toddler. The sausage was very flavorful, moist, and paired nicely with the sauce (which was slightly spicy). And, the pork belly was the perfect brown color, soft, moist, and decadent. Forgot to take a photo though - too busy digging into the food. We are so glad to discover such a good restaurant!! Vibe is pretty relaxed. Staff was very quick and efficient. A few people came to pick up. We ordered the #1 stuffed chicken wings and the #11 clear vermicelli noodle salad with 4 meatballs. The owner was working alone so she was the cashier, waitress and chef. I've never been to Cambodia so can't comment on authenticity but the food was definitely homemade with love. Inside the ambience is very "hole in the wall" but that doesn't bother me. The owner had left our Clorox wipes so we wiped down the table ourselves. The food was absolutely incredible. I loved the noodle salad with bits of kale, crunch of cucumbers, and a refreshing sauce. The meatballs did taste like lemongrass as someone else had mentioned. It was a perfect balance of flavors. I'm not a huge fan of fish sauce but there was no fishiness whatsoever. The stuffed chicken wings were made from the flat part of a chicken wing except without the bone. These are a labor of love for the chef to extract the bone and wrap the meat and stuffing with the skin. It was delicious but seemed like an ingredients of the stuffing was already in my salad. The rice was scorched a tad like Korean scorched rice which gave bites of texture. I liked the wings and they were good but I really loved the noodle salad. I don't know if the owner has other employees but I would warn you to order in advance and be prepared to wait. We didn't mind as we were catching up but I could see that if it gets busy, she will need more help. Was very excited to finally sit down and try Laotian food. I've had bits here and there at food…read moretrucks/stands, but this felt very official lol. On a weekend lunchtime, the place was super empty. Servers were friendly and attentive too. For food, we ordered the Thai iced tea, papaya salad, the Lao sausage, Khao poon, and nam Khao. Thai iced tea was sweet, but I could very much taste the tea flavor, it was refreshing. The Lao style papaya salad is extremely fishy and shrimpy but super umami and tasty. The little baby crab legs are a fun surprise too haha. Lao sausage had a satisfyingly crunchy skin, and the sausage inside was flavorful. Khao poon big flavor and yum too. The pork rib pieces did smell a bit though which I wasn't a huge fan of, but didn't deter me that much. Nam Khao was definitely the standout dish for me. I love fried rice with ginger, so this really hit the spot. Add in the crunch of the charred bits of rice, the slight chew from the rice itself, and the umami from the fish sauce. Omg. Wrapping it in lettuce can get a bit messy but it's so good in lettuce too Overall wowow. Portions are really big too, so we had a ton of leftovers to bring home. And I'll be dreaming about the food here for awhile haha

Came in at around 12 looking for a Pad Thai fix. Inside is spacious with booth seating for the…read morewindows. Crab Delight: The rangoons came out a smidge oily and on the warm side, but the filling was *delightful*--cream cheese has that bit of sweetness. In terms of crab-to-cream-cheese ratio, I couldn't make out any meat. The wrapper is airy and crispy which made each bite satisfactory. The sweet chili they use is the runny kind--not a complaint, just an observation. Pad Thai: Has that bold sweet & sour flavor but not too much where it's kicking your throat when you inhale it. I went with a 4/5 spice and it was indeed spicy. Sai Ooua: Don't know how to pronounce that, but I do know this sausage was hearty. I wonder if I could ask them to not cut it because the skin had a nice snap. Thai Tea: Very pleasant. Since it was an hour after opening, service was prompt.

Taurus Ox did not disappoint! I felt all the dishes and drinks we ordered were executed well and…read moretasted as expected. I get why they are known for their Lao Burger. It was delicious and perfectly cooked with balanced and harmonious flavors waking up my tastebuds. That goes the same for the amazing flavors and generous portion-size of their Thom Khem dish which is Caramelized Pork Belly and Tamari-Cured Hard-boiled Egg Stewed with ginger, garlic, and warming spices. As if that's not enough, it is served along with a brussel hash brown, pickled fresno chili, atop jasmine rice. For the drinks my party ordered, I recommend the refreshing Tamarind Soda which instantly transported me to the famously humid tropical weather of Southeast Asia. The two shareable appetizers we ordered were perfect for 4 people and was a nice introduction to the main dishes we ordered. The Lao Beef Jerky and Nam Khao were tasty and delightful bites. Street parking available. The restaurant is clean with lovely decor, indoor and patio seating. It has a warm and welcoming ambiance. Their pricing is not exactly budget-friendly, but with the generous portions, quality ingredients, and friendly service I think their pricing is just right.

Have been meaning to try this place for awhile! Came in on a weekday evening for dinner (around…read more6:15?) and we got a table right away. Interior is dark and woody? Lots of ox decor haha. Kinda funny though because it doesn't immediately feel like southeast Asian? Maybe a mix of western and Asian Service is a littttle slow, but the food and everything came out fast. I ordered the lemongrass limeade soda, the Lao burger, and mango sticky rice. The soda was super refreshing, and wasn't too sweet. The Lao burger was super yummy and juicy. I liked the sauce and veggies, but I wish they had added more. The patties were also a tad too salty in some spots. I also tried the Lao sausage entree which comes with rice and sides of veggies. The sausage and sauce were really flavorful, but the veggies didn't really pair well with it. The menu also says you get a choice of rice and sauce, but the server never asked what we wanted. Mango sticky rice was pretty good. I liked that it came warm, but the coconut sauce was a bit too sweet for me. Overall, a pretty good spot! I'd definitely come back to try the other dishes. I'd also come early in the evening, because a line formed pretty quickly.
