It was a cold and rainy day so naturally I was craving pho. I wanted to try somewhere new in the area so I ordered from Pho 7 Simmering Soup as the reviews on Yelp are pretty solid! I ordered a Thai iced tea, brisket pho, and egg rolls. I have to admit I wasn't super blown away by the Thai iced tea. It was a little less flavorful than other spots I've had it? Almost like they didn't add enough milk to it or something because the tea taste was overwhelming even after stirring it well. The egg rolls were a good size and also pretty good. Hard to mess those up, though! The pho itself was really good. The cuts of meat were great - no fatty or chewy pieces at all. The broth was a little on the sweeter side than what I normally like but it was still pretty good after I threw in some jalapenos. We haven't been at Pho 7 Simmering Soup for a bit but decided to stop by here as the other pho restaurant we have been going to has raised their prices like crazy. We saw that they still do punch cards for 9 phos ordered, then you get your 10th one free! We were greeted and seated close to the register by our waiter who then brought out drinks and took our order. He was prompt and professional, as well as doing routine checks to fill our waters and the other dining customers. We ordered a Dac Biet pho and Bun Bo Hue (5 stars spice level). We didn't have to wait too long which was awesome cause we were pretty hungry. This is my first time ordering Bun Bo Hue and my third or fourth time having it but this location has pros and cons with their version. The pro is that you get a huge beef rib and plenty of meat as well as a choice in how spicy you want. The cons are that they did not have all of the components that make Bun Bo Hue as others have mentioned, the soup was bland and the spicy level was not really what I considered 5 stars (I ended up dumping a bunch of chili oil to make it spicier). However I was grateful for the portion size as it was very filling and just the right kind of hearty meal that I was craving. My boyfriend enjoyed his pho and even had leftovers which is not very common. Not sure how others have complained about the portion sizes as we had plenty of meat and noodles in our orders. The inside is clean and has pleasant music playing in the background, though there was one song that was out of place. The waiter did his best on his own to make sure the restaurant was clean as when diners left, he immediately would clean the table and would balance it with taking orders, delivering orders, and taking care of take out orders. Read through all the reviews and while I thought this place was decent, in my opinion doesn't deserve five stars. I ordered the tofu pho in the regular size and it was still big enough to take home left over. My friend got a steak pho, the large size and had a lot left over as well. The service was prompt, the server very pleasant and there were others in the dining room so its obviously well known in the community. Food came out quickly but my soup and the contents were not piping hot. I'm used to having to blow on the broth and didn't have to and the noodles weren't that hot either. I love Pho, one of my favorite noodle dishes and while this was good, in my mind it was just ok. Had to add lots of hot sauce for it to have much flavor. Food is solid! The family and I really enjoy their pho and bun bo hue. Have we had better? Sure! But given everything accounted to our experience it's a solid 5. Food is more of a 4, hence "we've had better". Their soup always comes out pippin hot which is a must! The BBH, isn't truly "authentic" they put their own twist to it by adding a beef rib to it which gives it a wow factor. It's missing pork blood and ham hock. I understand that location may not attract the type of customers that would appreciate that so it is what it is. The rice dish is good too! Had their pork chop one and it was seasoned really well and delish! Egg rolls were solid..! Customer service has always been on point! We were used to seeing this one gal but then she apparently went somewhere else? sad to see her go! She was on top of her game, friendly and wasn't slacking. Pho broth was not rich in flavor and tasted similar to instant pho broth. Broth was not clear, as you can see in the picture it is brown. Broth lacked depth. The deep fried Egg roll we ordered was quite good, crisp and crunchy with dipping sauce, it was delicious. My lady had the Vietnamese Crepe for her entree which was nicely prepared with veggie herbs and sauce to complement the dish, very light and refreshing, a healthy item. My order of regular size combination pho was of good portion vermicelli noodles with assortments of beef, tripe, tendon and brisket. Broth was tasty and the meal was filling. The down side was that afterwards, we were very thirsty and a aftertaste of MSG lingered in our mouth. Also the ingredients with food were cut very thin and very minimal with the crepe. With so many wonderful pho places within a 5-mile radius, it was very hard to rate this new restaurant. The pho was OK. The amount of meat provided was enormous, but some of it was very chewy. The broth was not to my liking- but that's a personal preference thing. My husband didn't mind the broth. The weirdest part for me, is they'll give you lemon slices, instead of lime, which makes the pho a little sweeter. The spring rolls were good, but they were a bit small. The peanut sauce that comes with it was amazing. The egg rolls were also really good. They're a bit skinny, but they're longer in size. I wish it came with a side of egg roll sauce or egg roll sauce, instead of the sweetened fish sauce. The winner of our lunch was the rice dish that comes with chicken, shrimp, and a fried egg. I usually return to the few same pho spots, so I decided to try this new spot. I ordered take out over the phone. The menu was easy to find online with clear descriptions and ordering on the phone was even easier. The restaurant still has all the "grand opening" signs out front still. The inside wasn't too busy, but it is an open and clean restaurant. The main staff member at the counter was friendly and prompt. The food was affordable for the quantity, which is always a plus. I brought my food home and a big part of pho is the smell. I opened the broth to pour over my noodles and I could smell instantly that the broth had burned or it came from a stockpot with a burnt bottom. The broth also tasted burnt and was under seasoned. It took a lot of dressing up with my own seasonings and sauces to cover the burnt smell and taste, and even then I would get that burnt after taste every few bites. They did provide a large number of toppings (basil, jalapeños, and sprouts) and since I got the P1 pho combo, the meat was quality and also a large amount. read more

Their quality is always consistent, they don't skimp on the noodles or toppings, and the service is fantastic. Both current and former employees have been super kind and attentive, and they have punch cards for pho!! (buy 9 get 1 free). They also have an extra large size 64oz bowls if you have a large appetite. It's a family owned business and the restaurant is kid friendly. Our daily loves pho and has been to quite a few pho restaurants. We are newer to Federal Way though and are just exploring our local pho offerings. That said, this is the BEST pho I've ever had! The broth was delicious - super rich and flavourful. We both got the P2, pho with flank steak. The steak was tender and noodles were good as well. We also ordered the fresh spring rolls. They were good but the winner there was the AMAZING peanut sauce. I'm usually pretty ambivalent about peanut sauce but this stuff was delicious. Like, I was eating it with the leftover sprouts. Besides the food, the staff was very friendly (she saw my baby drop a spoon and brought us two extra so he still had one to chew on) and the restaurant was very clean. Great experience! Starting with their beefy flavor broth, not sweet, loaded with flavor. The broth is the key component in a good pho and this place got it going on.
