My husband and I tried coffee and breakfast while visiting Beaufort, SC. We are coffee snobs, and we seek to find shops that roast their own beans, offer a variety of house made syrups, and make a quality drink with a perfect combination of those two things. We both tried coffee off of their seasonal menu - I had a 16oz iced Orange Cream latte, and my husband had a hot 16oz Cookie Butter latte. We also had the Brekkie sandwich and Avocado Toast with a fried egg and bacon. We both found our lattes to be extraordinarily sweet. Although the house made syrups had excellent flavor, they were too sweet for us. I ended up adding a third shot to my 16oz iced Orange Cream (which they did at no charge!) to dilute the sweet of the syrup. My husband is not the type to request changes to his order, so he drank his coffee as is (although he could have benefited from an extra shot in his coffee as well). If you are someone looking for a less sweet option, I would check with the barista before ordering a normal amount of syrup at this coffee shop. I definitely would have benefited from asking for 1/2 sweet. Also, the 16oz iced and 24oz iced do not have a difference in coffee shot amount. Rather, the 24oz adds more milk to your latte. Just a warning for those who like more than two shots and think that's what they're getting by ordering the larger cup. The ambience inside is adorable. It matches its name perfectly. read more

This must be one of the most popular coffee shops in town! It was absolutely packed this morning, and the only seat I could find was at a six-top that I ended up sharing with another patron. Not ideal, but it worked. There wasn't a power outlet nearby, though I noticed several other tables had them, which is helpful for the remote work crowd. The crowd was evenly split: about half were laptop-toting remote workers and the other half seemed to be casual coffee shop patrons just enjoying their drinks and conversation. After about 20 minutes, I was able to shift to a smaller table with a bit more breathing room and power, and I stayed for roughly an hour. My cortado was excellent. Smooth, balanced, and just the right size though it was served in a paper cup, which felt a little underwhelming given the quality. At a neighboring table, someone ordered the avocado toast, and it looked genuinely delicious: fresh, vibrant, and generously portioned. They also offer a tempting selection of pastries, which I didn't try this time but will keep in mind for a future visit. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, which adds flexibility depending on the weather or your mood. Parking is plentiful, as the shop is tucked into a strip mall near what appears to be a shuttered Kmart store. That location makes it easy to access, even during busy hours, and the overall vibe is lively without being chaotic. Worth the long weekend wait! The avocado toast was delicious and the smoothie was very refreshing! Unfortunately though, because of how busy it gets on the weekend, we were not able to get a table, so we had to sit outside in the heat which wasn't ideal. This place is a NO for me! Went there in the early hours with 2 people behind the counter. A few customers sitting already with their order and 1 person who ordered a coffee ahead of me. I was told to give her a second while she continued to talk to her coworker. I ordered a caramel frappe which was mostly milk and barely any coffee just more for taste. I got my son a croissant which was extra dry. The place is just your average coffee place with tables and chairs and some food items. Could be better in my opinion. read more

I don't like leaving this, but I am pissed at what I just paid. I felt nickel and dime'd. I had a decaf americano, which was good, 12 oz and $8 later, I'm disgusted. I was charged .50 for light ice, 1.00 to flavor the cold foam and up charged for decaf. Just rob me with a gun, I'd feel better. Ownership, in these days of high prices, please don't do this to your customers. You have a good product, but you're going to price yourself out. read more

Decent outside seating. Absolutely horrible mocha latte. There was basically no chocolate or mocha flavor in it to start. They did fix it but the barista admitted that the chocolate was too cold and it would not pour out properly or fast enough.......thus NO CHOCOLATE. Well if she knew that why serve it at all? Just thinking the customer wouldn't notice ? So she made two attempts with the same glass and drink to fix it instead of starting over and doing it right. I finally "fake " agreed it was ok after the second try just to get out of there.....This is obviously trickle down poor management and training. Just 86 the first one.....figure it out and make it right. Now I'm a tourist and Ill never be back but that is probably why they survive.......why worry about repeat business when you have a consistent tourist flow of 1 timers? read more

Prices are a little high for everyday coffee. But the owners are wonderful, and the specials for the seasons are always fun. I only don't give 5 stars because it tends to get rather loud when they are busy. Otherwise two thumbs up. read more

A cafe on the more suburban edge of town with a high-roofed industrial space and a shop for clothing and gifts (amongst which I ended up sitting). Their chai latte was straightforward, tasted syrup-y. The salad I ordered was certainly an unconventional presentation being laid out on a metal tray. Like a lot of southern salads, it was on the heavier and sweeter side and I used only a modicum of the included ranch dressing (though it was good). There was a dicey leaf or two in there. Having said that, the limited options available for this sort of thing in the area mean that this place is a sensible stop. read more

Food: I ordered the spinach mushroom bacon quiche and it was delicious. The pastry crust was delightfully flaky, the eggs mushroom and bacon were cooked perfectly and the flavors were all really balanced. They also added a drizzle of basalmic glaze on the side for some extra acidity. It was also a very hearty serving. I was expecting a tiny serving or a small personal quiche but I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely worth the cost. Service: it's very easy to order and they have plenty of menus. Our food came out quickly and it was warm. Ambiance: The outdoor seating area is nice and cozy but it is situated right next to a busy street. It's a very relaxing vibe and would be great for a work from home situation, brunch, or a coffee run. We will definitely be back. read more

One of the few newcomers in Beaufort that I feel has staying power, Urban Brew has nailed the coffee ambiance with a bright, earthy, boho appeal. While I've been several times both with friends and for solo work, this time I had my go-to, the Brekkie on Ciabatta. I added bacon, and this elevated the sandwich to new heights. Very airy bread that filled me up. The crew working the shop are typically young but experienced, very friendly, and good with recs, so don't be deterred there. Came in this week for a business meeting. They have a lot of coffee options and a nice menu of light items. The shop is spacious with lots of seating and tables, along with an outdoor patio. So fabulous! My husband and I love visiting local coffee spots when we're out of town, and Urban Brew + Co. hit the spot! They have an exciting menu with lots of options. Along with your usual coffees and lattes, they have a great selection of seasonal beverages. I was shocked that the food was as good as it was, too! They have pastries, waffles, smoothie bowls, salads, paninis and so much more. I opted for my usual coffee order- an almond milk cappuccino. It was frothy and delicious! My husband had the dirty chai latte. Omg!! It was so flavorful and definitely a must if you're a chai fan. For food, I had the avocado toast. It was topped with tomatoes and balsamic. It was the perfect quick bite! My husband had a seasonal menu item- the jalapeño popper panini. It was cheesy and spicy and toasty and so yummy. I definitely recommend this spot if you're in the area. We had a great experience and the inside is spacious for a hang out with a group or for a solo study session. The matcha latte and lattes were delicious. The matcha did not feel too milky and was the right flavor. The waffles were good too and you could customize the toppings too. The avocado toast was fine, but the eggs did not taste fresh, as in they seemed like pre-frozen eggs just heated up. The inside seating area was great! read more

Overpriced and they nickel and dime you for every last thing. The guy at the register was trying to charge to grab an ice water for my kid on a hot summer day. Now im dealing with a sad toddler! Stopped in on a work trip and spent the morning enjoying the natural sunlight and eclectic vintage organic ambiance. I ordered a large oat milk latte and the avocado toast with egg and bacon. Everything was really delicious but my bill was $24 with tip. Thankfully I was able to expense it and definitely could have ordered drip for $4 with bottomless refills. They have a few things for sale and the high ceilings with a large patio make it a great place to meet up. It does get really busy around lunchtime but everything seemed really healthy. If I am back in town again will definitely stop by. It was nice to use the WiFi and enjoy a nice morning before I was off to my meeting. read more

Man was this an awesome treat! My friend and I went in after a long walk and enjoyed the atmosphere and happy dispositions that the employees had. The plants and other items for sale are super cute! The menu isn't large, but that is A ok! I so loved the waffles. You can choose what toppings you want and I chose strawberries, blueberries, and chocolate chips. Divine! My friend had the "heaven toast" and said it was delish. She loved the flavor combos. We ate our meal outside and found that the seating was ample and comfortable--both outside and in. The tables are spread apart and we felt like we had room to talk and enjoy ourselves. I can't wait to return and try items from the lunch menu! read more

What a wonderful surprise this place is! Great food choices(healthy options a plus). I'm particular about my roast. I don't want bitter but I want strong but I don't want the strong to overpower my cup. Theirs was exactly what I like. Visiting in town and figured we would check this place out. The building used to the the k-mart garden center which we thought was pretty cool! I ordered a cold dirty chai and the avocado toast and my husband got a hot coffee and the PB and banana toast. Nice ambiance, and very photogenic place, but the food was just meh. The avocado toast was just guacamole spread, not slices of avocado and not really toasted..for the price slices of avacado should be present. The PB banana toast was good, but PB is hard to less up. The dirty chai was just cinnamon... Which is not a chai guys. Shoulda known by the photos that it's a bit....basic, but if you like Starbucks,and Target...you will love it here. Urban Brew is located in the Urban Nest building. It's a little gem in Beaufort. My friend and I had a delightful time looking at all of the beautiful item they have for sale in the retail area. There is a beautiful rustic green house in the back where they sell potted plants. I can't wait to go back!! The coffee bar has some delicious snacks. I had a caramel macchiato and my friend ordered the dirty chai. She said it was the best one she has ever had. I thoroughly enjoyed my drink as well. ...my expectations were exceeded..I travel A LOT..so I see the value in eating local. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a smile. It was my first time and Ken, the gentleman who took my order, didn't rush and was able to give a recommendation. I had the "Dirty Chai" and the waffle... "Dirty Chai" - tea w/expresso...bomb! Waffle- I had a FRESH from the batter, soft and DELICIOUS waffle with strawberries, bananas, blue berries and whipped cream...generous portion and it was so good I didn't even need to maple syrup that comes on the side. I used to really like this place. I've been here several times. But I've never experienced anything like I did today. I came here to work while my car was getting some maintenance done nearby. The only table with an outlet was in the community room, which had a sign on it that said Quiet Room. Ironically, someone thought it was appropriate to leave their fussy, figity child in that room for hours watching irritating, noisy cartoons. I lost patience once the kid started throwing an absolute screaming fit. Seems like it might have been someone's kid that works there. How anyone thinks this is appropriate, I do not know. Not sure if I'll be back, especially if this is a regular thing. read more

This place was great. The food was unique and delicious! We the coffee was also unique and delicious. I got the buffalo chicken panini. I don't normally do bleu cheese but you couldn't taste it at all! The barista was right :) I also got some of their orange dream coffee. It was weird and wonderful. This is a picture perfect coffee shop and cafe off of Boundary street in Beaufort, SC. It's away from the downtown/Bay Area but it's a refreshingly cool spot and a local favorite. The coffee is truly excellent and roasted in-house. The staff is unfailingly friendly and accommodating and the food is delicious. The specials are seasonal so there is always something new. The shop offerings are on trend with a local flair. They also have a huge outdoor patio. I've spoken with the owner on almost every visit. A former Marine and incredibly kind man. I highly recommend coming by for coffee, lunch, or just to pick up a few gifts. You'll fall in love with it too! read more

Finally was able to visit and enjoy some tea and coffee. I was on a visit to see my sister along with my boyfriend last weekend. We are coffee and tea snoods and visit cafes for fun on the weekend, I was recommended to try the Matcha Tea latte with coconut cream. Game changer! Definitely the best way to have matcha and it's been a staple for me. Will definitely be back when I visit! read more
