I had an amazing experience at ! From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed warmly, and the salon had such a relaxing, stylish vibe. My stylist was so attentive and took the time to understand exactly what I wanted. She recommended a few changes that I hadn't considered, and I'm so glad I trusted her . I am from Europe and I was sceptical about trusting an American hair stylist cause my hair was being done by only one person my entire life. Buttt, the girl was Amazing!! I dont remember her name, but overall, you wont mistake if you book here! read more

Very poor business practices, the receptionist's did not note when I rescheduled my appointments twice and Odie dropped me as a client even though it was the fault of the business. They claimed they left me voicemails confirming the service on and when I said there was no voicemail in my phone log they changed the date they said they called (also to a date that is not in my phone log.) No calls from them. Very disappointing since I enjoyed my services with her before. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

My stylist, Emily, was fantastic. If I lived near here, I'd be her regular client. I have long, difficult to work with Asian hair. She took her time and gave me exactly what I asked for-- face framing angles and a 1.5 inch trim. Emily is super sweet, friendly, and approachable. Thanks for my awesome cut! read more

Best massage I've ever had by far. Heather was fantastic. She started off the deep tissue very deep and adjusted to my preferences perfectly. Her techniques had me relaxed and feeling refreshed. Very friendly staff and a great value. I will definitely return and plan to get tons of gift cards for Mother's Day when I return for another massage next week! read more

This was my second visit to this gorgeous salon. My first visit was for bows only. Olivia Rose was so patient & kind & did an amazing job! For this visit Olivia Rose was the choice for my brows, again! She asked how I was feeling as she remembered that I had had major surgery on my right kidney. So sweet ! Samantha did my nails. She helped me to find just the right color polish as I had to match my husbands tie. We are attending the memorial service of a close friend this Saturday & this is the tie that David wore in his wedding. So thankful for Laurie, too! She works the front desk & is so outgoing & a diligent worker. Thankful for this place & the goodie bag they give you as a newbie !!! read more

10/10 massage! Uptown Salon and Spa has always been my favorite place to go when in need of a great massage, however today's massage could have been the best I've ever had. I'm not someone who leaves reviews often but I felt as though Heather, my massage therapist, truly deserves a big shout out. As someone who often chooses a deep tissue massage, it can be hard to find a therapist who is comfortable and/or able to provide the amount of pressure you are looking for (for me, it's a lot!). Heather was able to meet my massage needs while also being conscious of my comfort during the entirety of the service with check ins throughout. Can't wait to come back, thanks Heather! read more

I had an awesome pedicure with Emily. I have very sensitive feet and she did a great job. The salon is gorgeous and super clean. I will definitely be back. read more

LOVE the staff!! I did my high school project here with Circee and she was great! Very informative, helpful, and knows what she's doing! I have full confidence everyone else there is like that too (: Never gotten anything done here, but can say the interior is superior, very beautiful & clean space. You have to try them out! read more

I had the worst massage I've ever had in my life here. The masseuse I had told me she focuses on "therapeutic massage" which is fine, but I asked her to ease up she was arguing with me about how I needed more pressure. I asked her multiple times to ease up and she didn't. At one point I almost felt like getting up and walking out. I had bruises all over my back for almost a week. It was hard to sit in a chair or lay in bed for days. If this is the type of treatment you're going to provide you should let clients know this before they book a massage. I'm paid a lot of money and if I want a light relaxing massage, that is what I should get. read more

I went into Uptown, where I've never been, because I needed product & they're just about the closest retailer listed when I searched for Aveda products. There were 2 girls working the reception desk- I received zero greeting & they sat behind the desk & watched while I floundered around looking for what I specifically needed among the many different brands & bottles. After approximately 1 minute, I asked for help. I described the volumizer that I wanted to a tee-STILL neither girl responded or moved from her sitting position. I ended up finding the volumizing tonic on my own. A glutton for punishment apparently, I noticed a BOGO sign on one of the shelves that read "These 2 Shelves, Buy One Get One Free". I started looking at the items & noticed that the products that I was interested in were not priced. I actually carried the item over to one of the girls & asked for a price; I got an "Umm...I'm not sure" for an answer. Since the little sign referenced these "shelves", I asked which other shelf contained BOGO products & got a similar answer, this time from both girls in a sort of "I'm not sure" chorus. I then told them that I wanted the volumizing tonic & wondered if they carried Aveda's Hairspray. It's extremely well-known; or at least it SHOULD be with a seller of the company's products. After my description, I got the blank stare x 2 again. If even one of them had only taken the time to look up Aveda hairspray on their website (it's called Air Control & runs about $26) or bothered to look up prices for the BOGO products I asked about, the grand total for me could have been significantly higher. Their laziness and/or indifference assured that I will never return. Thank you. read more

I would not recommend Uptown. I booked two Vitamin C Facials with biotec treatment and lip treatment add ons almost 2 weeks before my appointment. These facials were meant to be a part of a girls weekend with my best friend and we both have demanding jobs and were in dire need of pampering. I called in to make these appointments with a receptionist rather than online just to make sure that they had all of the correct information. One week before our appointments I got an email, text, and two phone calls confirming our appointments. The morning of, I received a call that the salon only had one biotec machine and therefore only one of us could receive the treatment. The receptionist then said she would tell the aesthetician about this and she could figure something out with the hydra facial machine. So, while irked, I trusted that everything would be fine and we went. We checked in and the receptionist confirmed the one facial with the biotec treatment and one with the hydro facial treatment.... I had to explain to the receptionist what had happened and that I did not want to pay more than what I had expected from the original facial I had booked. I was assured that the aesthetician would help out. We were then brought upstairs and the I met with poor Petra (my aesthetician)who was so kind and understanding but was under the impression that I was getting the hydro facial which is significantly more expensive, not what I wanted and once again I had to explain the issue. She then tried to figure our now to make it right while keeping me within my budget and thankfully she did... but at this point I was already disappointed. It was a great facial and Petra was very sweet. We then spent a good 15 minutes waiting to check out while a receptionist was on the phone with a client, checked out someone else behind us and then seemed to having trouble with the computer system. So no, I will not be recommending Uptown Salon. A day of fun and pampering with a friend at a local spa, resulted in not getting the service I wanted, miscommunication amongst employees and overall poor customer service with the exclusion of Petra. read more

My hair was just past my shoulders and needed a trim. The stylist and I decided on 1.5 inches and long layers. The stylist was very nice, but clearly inexperienced. Once home, I realized that the layers were much more drastic that I had wanted, and completely uneven. One side has layers INCHES shorter than the other side. I called the salon the next day to see if someone with more experience could fix the cut, and I expected that they would fit me in as soon as possible with a senior stylist. Instead, I was *strongly* encouraged to see the same stylist to deal with the "miscommunication" and offered an appointment 3 days later. I'm really surprised that the salon didn't offer me an appointment with someone more experienced, and I'll be keeping my hair in a ponytail until I get the cut fixed somewhere else. read more

I was so pleased with the talent at the salon! I came here from out of town for my wedding in Watch Hill and after much research, decided to book appointments for me, my mom and matron of honor. Heather did an amazing job on my styling- I showed her a pic of what I wanted and in 45 min she achieved it! Michelle did my make up- she listened to what I wanted and beautiful I looked when she was complete!! I wish the salon was closer to my hometown because I'd be a frequent client!! Nevertheless on my next visit to westerly I know where to go for any styling needs! read more

I brought my mom and several friends here for hair/makeup/nails before my wedding last Saturday. It was really a perfect experience - no complaints! Talia handles wedding bookings and she was so friendly and helpful. She always responded to my emails in a timely manner (super important) and kept all of our appointments straight. They provided champagne and pastries for all of us to enjoy during our appointments. I want to say I had my hair done with Heather and my make up by Michelle and both were exquisite!! I changed my mind about both when I got there and asked for tweaks on the looks that we practiced a couple of months before, and they were so accommodating and easy going. Everything went off without a hitch. Thank you!! read more

I get my hair done by Maggy. I have never left disappointed! If I come in with a photo or leave it up to her I am never disappointed!!! I consistently get compliments on my color even when I'm weeks over due !!!! She is always professional throughout the whole process and talks me through every step of the way. If I'm uneasy about something she makes sure to let me know why she thinks we should take the route we do (color/cut/styling in general) but ultimately never does it unless I'm fully convinced. I am so glad I found her and hope to continue to have her as my hair dresser for many years to come !!! read more

Uptown was so much more then I was expecting! I usually drive to Providence or Newport for a decent massage but took a chance on Uptown because of a gift certificate... Wow I am so glad I did! The masseuse was new to the spa. I cannot remember his name, but he started in October of 2013. The massage was hands down one of the best I have ever received. He listened to exactly what I wanted... Which surprisingly is rare. The massage is a mixture of deep tissue and Swedish depending in your needs. I love that the massage is custom to your specific issue. Another pleasant surprise was the length. Usually when you pay for a 60 minute massage, you get about 45 to 50. This was not the case at Uptown. The massage started at 305 and ended a bit after 4! My back was singing when I walked out of there. The spa itself is much bigger inside then it looks from the street. I could tell from the parking lot that the place was packed but I only saw one other customer. I love the layout of the place. The prices are a tad on the high side, but not significantly. I'd say it is totally worth it! I'm saving up for my next one! read more

My wife and I were able to schedule massages here on relatively short notice while vacationing in RI. The location is easy to find and there was plenty of parking. The spa has a really nice aesthetic and very comfortable waiting room. Jodi and Olivia were both outstanding masseuses. They were both very conscientious in their approach to our needs and provided AMAZING massages. Overall it was an excellent experience and we will be back! read more

This was my first time ever visiting a spa and it was an excellent experience. I only went for a gel polish manicure with Connie and it's the best manicure I have ever gotten. She was very knowledgeable about products and techniques as well and shared that with me. Being a first time customer they had a little welcome packet that included coupons for a % off products, services booked that day, and a free eyebrow or lip wax, which I thought was so nice. The price was a little higher than your typical nail salon...but 100% worth it! read more

This is the ONLY place that I ever go to get my hair cut. Sydney is AMAZING, my favorite stylist ever. She's really good about "going slow" when you're hesitantly considering something a bit drastic, ex. going from long hair to a bob. I did this, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to take the plunge and have her cut it all off, so she went a few inches, then a few inches more, kind of easing me into it to make sure I wouldn't have any "WHERE'S-MY-HAIR!?" remorse. She's a perfectionist, too - she never has me leave the salon with anything less than an immaculate haircut. I really appreciate her professionalism. Oh, plus she's also great to talk to, so you're not having an awkward "I'm-sitting-in-a-chair-and-my-stylist-seems-as-talkative-as-a-rock" type of experience. ;) The salon itself is great - nice entry way and sitting room, fun selection of products to look at before/after your appointment, FREE COFFEE from their little Keurig station, nice receptionists . . . I can't say enough good about this place. Do yourself a favor and get your hair done here, you WILL NOT be disappointed!!! read more

I took my son to have his hair colored and cut by Dori. It was such a fantastic experience. He went from dark brown to mint green. She did such a great job!!! The whole staff was super nice. I would definitely recommend them especially if you are thinking of doing a fun cut/color/style! read more

I considered giving this place one star, but there were some positives that pushed it to two stars. I came here before my brother's wedding to have my hair done. I had booked a blow dry, and put in the notes that I'd like a blow out with a round brush to give body and bounce, and maybe a few added curls if it seemed necessary. I wanted a natural look (the wedding was outside on a giant farm). I liked that you are able to book online, and they confirm your appointment via email- it makes it more convenient to try to get this stuff done after hours instead of trying to call during the day. I arrived a bit early, but knew that I may not be able to get started early. I wasn't. Actually, it was at least five minutes after my appointment that I was finally called over. I know five minutes isn't really much, but I was on a pretty tight time schedule. I explained to the girl, Melinda I believe, what I wanted. She said OK, and let me know that if she used the curling iron it would cost extra. I said that was fine, I would pay, but reiterated what i wanted- a blow out with a round brush for lots of bouncy body, and maybe a few curls after. I received the exact opposite of what I asked for. She blow-dried my hair with her hands and with a flag paddle brush, using a ton of product in my roots. I told her I did not like too much product because my hair tended to get really sticky and heavy by the end of the night, and that I went for blow outs regularly near where I live, and not much product was needed, and it always came out great. She said to trust her, she was using product that was very light, and doing it a different way. I asked her about the round brush and she used a huge round brush for a while, but switched back to a paddle brush, blowing my hair flat and straight, and seemingly at random. There was no order to how she dried it, she just moved around feeling for the wet spots the way someone new to blow-drying does. By the time it was dry, It was completely straight and flat (my hair is not even naturally straight) and the roots were completely flat. Then she started on the curls. She used a small curling iron and gave me tight curls, and doused every small section of my hair in hair spray. I was turned away from the mirror so I couldn't tell what it looked like, and by the time I saw it was too late to have her change it, given my schedule. I was shocked, though. I had specifically booked a blow out and asked for a bouncy blow dry, and gotten this- super tight curls with a small curling iron. I reiterated my concerns about product and she told me it was a light spray. I have literally never had someone use that much hair spray on me. Each strand got a good five second spray, and then she continually sprayed it over my whole head. I was shocked. The result was that it looked OK for a while, the curls at least, despite being completely different than what I wanted. The roots were flat from the start and there was nothing could do about that. However, by the end of the night, it was a giant sticky mess of hair spray, exactly how I had predicted. Maybe I ended up with a backup hairdresser, because I heard her talking to others about how five girls were out that day. If that was the case, I would have rather they cancelled my appointment, as I could have done it better myself, or driven further to a better location. I do have to note that I did appreciate them fitting me in for a quick foundation application after my hair (I had forgotten to bring mine to the wedding), and the girl who did my makeup was fast, friendly, and did a great job. Since I only asked for foundation, I was charged $35 instead of the $55 for a full makeup application. I would not recommend coming to this place for a blow dry or styling unless you know your stylist and have used them before. read more

Every time I drive by Upton Salon in Westerly, RI I get annoyed, and that's why I am writing this review. For my daughter's wedding the bridal party went for a mani pedi. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxing and that part was fine, with the exception of the French manicures which were done freehand and weren't very straight. That night, after the wedding rehearsal, when we took off our shoes, our nail polish was ruined. We had to take the polish off and put new polish on ourselves, which stayed on throughout the wedding, I called the salon the next business day, and never got a return call. I called twice more and no return call. I would never recommend this salon to anyone, especially considering the price which was pretty expensive. read more

The massage was decent but I neared collapsed when it was time to cash out. A couples massage is listed as $150. No where on the menu does it specify "each". I got the "Aroma Stone Therapy" massage. I got the hot stones for maybe 5 minutes of the entire 75-minute massage, it was definitely NOT a hot stone massage which is what I really wanted, and what I paid over $100 for. Why on earth is it advertised as a hot stone massage if they're barely used? And there were no "luxuriously warmed oils" whatsoever, as advertised on the site. No aroma involved in the massage. I have no idea if this has to do with the masseuse or the general practice at this business. The masseuse was very nice and did check in with me throughout the massage to make sure she was giving me the correct pressure and attending to the parts of my body that needed the most attention. She did a great job on the massage but I left feeling like I didn't really get what I paid for or what was advertised on the site. Also I think it's nuts that gratuity is cash only. I rarely even carry cash with me and would have given the masseuse a way bigger tip if I could have put it on my card. read more

Mixed feelings on this salon.. Had an undo done here and it was great.. Had a couple of gel manicures before and they were great.. However my past manicure and pedicure done by Ashley was seriously sub par.. And spending $60 plus tip for a combo in Westerly RI was just really expensive. My manicure was not great.. She didn't do anything to my cuticles .. The nails were super un even.. I get that my nails were short but was hoping that she could figure something out to make them look presentable.. Maybe she was having an off day .. But polish lasted 2 days and pedicure lasted 5 days.. Again just not worth the money.... read more
