This has been one of the most popular on out dining out Meetup rotation. Its wide menu always has many items that you want to try but can't decide on which one. I haven't put it on in a while due to the very limited number of handicap parking for how large the place is but now that I have to use a wheelchair, I can park in the north 40 if necessary and it was. Sat in a more private smaller dining room but once more tables filled, it was almost impossible for our smaller group to even talk across the table at each other. Since we socialize while we eat, it didn't make it easy to talk except the people sitting next to you. Service was friendly and did stop around once and a while. Food took a little while. Not everything was correct and we had to flag people down to correct. While I have had some wonderful streaks there at a very reasonable price and the price was only $4 higher than the last time, the quality was much lower and instead of being medium well, it was almost medium rare. The potions were still large for all. I am not sure if our group will be back, at least for dinner since lunch time is easy to get closer parking and a lower noise level. read more

I've been to Uptown many times, usually in the evenings for dinner and live music. It's usually a good experience once you park and get inside and as long as you have the right expectations. The place is huge: dining rooms, private room, large bar area with many TVs, a stage and dance floor area, plus an outdoor patio which is enclosed for all year round use. It is usually very busy and therefore very loud especially in the bar/TV area. The menu has lots of options including for restricted diet which I appreciate being gluten free. The portions are large, you get your money's worth, even if the food itself is not super imaginative. The salads are my favorite, and are large enough to share. The Chop salad with steak and shrimp is very filling. The Greek with chicken actually comes with a good amount of toppings, not just a single beet or pepperoncini pepper on top. The service is always great and staff is friendly and accommodating. Splitting bills even for a large group is not an issue. If you're there on a weekend night for the live music, the dance floor area can get packed. The crowd and vibe depends on which band and music genre is playing. Overall it's usually a good night out, not a lot of places where you can get dinner and dance in the same location. read more

Not busy for a Saturday afternoon but service was very slow. Waitress seemed to treat our table of 10 like as an after thought even though we were the biggest party in the restaurant. Prices were too high for food that was only OK. We had an issue with the Korean street tacos, they were missing the wanton strips and the slaw seemed soaked in peanut sauce. When I pulled up, the parking lots were packed! It had been 10 years since I've been here. It huge inside with multiple bars, tons of TV and loud AF. The decor is pretty cool. We sat in the covered patio with heater and it was a bit quicker. We had great service. The menu is a typical bar fare. It's a shoulder shrug food experience. Nothing bad but not great either. The starter of bang bang shrimp was flavorful and the shrimp crispy but that's where it ended. The salads were subpar. Some might say, it's a salad - aren't they boring? No, they shouldn't be. I added shrimp to mine and somehow the shrimp had no flavor. Where did it go? The ahi tuna salad looked good too but the tuna was cooked too much. It should just kiss the heat, not actually cook. I grew up around Detroit but I reside in Jacksonville Florida now. My wife and I flew up to the Detroit area for a concert along with a few days with friends and family. Someone I know suggested Uptown Grille as a good place for a large group. I'm glad they did! There were 10 of us so I can't speak to all of the food everyone had but I can speak to the treatment we received, which was top notch. I am really mad at myself because I can't remember the name of the gentleman who waited on our group but he was GREAT. He had a young lady with him that he was training on July 1st, 2025 so I hope that helps. Both him and her were so nice to everyone in our group through the whole night. I wish they could've waited on us at the next place we went to, but that's for another (unfortunately bad) review. This was my first visit to Uptown Grille and unfortunately, I neglected to take photos. My friend and I both ordered Uptown Chicken which was supposed to be lightly breaded with a garlic cream sauce. When our food arrived, we were both surprised at the amount of breading on the chicken and the thick sauce. Although the flavor of the dish was good, it was much heavier than we expected. I ordered the petite baked potatoes and my friend got mashed potatoes. I preferred her mashed over the baked. The green beans were fresh and yummy. First time here. Very interesting place. It has something for everyone. Nice dining room on the east side, bar atmosphere in the middle, a large enclosed and heated patio-like vibe on the west side. A bit loud there, which is where we sat. The menu also has something for everyone. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snackers. We tried a salad, nachos and wings. All were great! On a Saturday evening there were two birthday party tables nearby who seemed to have a great time. The band was awesome (Love Junkies). About 9pm it turns into more of a night club. Our server, Bianca, was wonderful. Very attentive and on point. Super friendly too. Check out their menu. I usually steer away from places if the menu is too large. They got it though. My sense is that the kitchen is very well managed, as is the front of the house. We will be back. read more

Finally was able to make it into Uptown and of course it was very busy like always. Staff were very friendly in recommending the best spot to sit (since it was cool outside) and at getting us seated quickly. Our waitress did take a lot of time to come to our table (about 15 minutes after sitting) and we finally flagged down the two gentleman that were the hostess. They right away got our waitress to the table. We put in our orders and waited maybe 10 minutes for our appetizers and another 15 for our food. This all came at perfect timing. I was happy to be able to enjoy my appetizers in peace and not be rushed with my entree. We did order from the bar and were happy because there were non-alcoholic spirits/beer to choose. The food was actually very delicious. I'm not a fan or "bar food", but this didn't tasted anything of that nature. Food was hot and fresh. Nothing tasted frozen at all. Chicken wings were very good. The steak bites were very delicious. I ordered the uptown chicken which came with some potatoes and green beans. This dish was very good, but maybe I would ask for sauce in the side. Just a personal preference. The chicken was seasoned so well! And you get two pieces which is nice. My friend ordered the fried perch and said it was good. Fish was crispy and not soggy. Overall the steak bites might have been my favorite thing I tried today. Their breadsticks were great too. We left as the band was setting up which would have been amazing to see. The menu has a lot of kid friendly items and items for many dietary restrictions. Definitely recommend this restaurant for a family putting, party, solo dinner, anything you want. Great lunch today. Stopped in after appointment at West Bloomfield Henry Ford. Sorta busy. We sat in main dining room. Very clean. Hostess was very polite and wanted us to be patient as there was only 1 server. And that was Maria. She was fantastic. Very friendly and attentive even though she was busy. We ordered the lunch portions of chicken picatta and bourbon street mac n cheese. Lunch portions my behind. Absolutely huge. Way too much for 1 eater. Chicken picatta had lots of lemon caper butter sauce and plenty of artichokes. Plenty of tender chicken. Bourbon Street mac was very good. Had a creole sauce that was just above my heat level but I still enjoyed it. Lots of red and green peppers. Applewood smoked bacon was a nice culinary touch. My wife ordered a Peanut Butter Explosion with ice cream for dessert. Also enough for 2. Brownie, peanut butter mousse, vanilla ice cream, and some chocolate drizzle. Very happy with the service and the food. Traffic on Maple rd. can be a bite at the wrong time of day but this is still a go to place in my book. And ask for Maria. read more

BEWARE UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP!! To say I have been to uptown hundreds of times would be a vast under estimate. I have been coming here since it opened and have had hundreds of meals here. Have always loved this place up until my recent experience there and will not be going back. My friend and I ordered eggs Benedict and it came out cold. We proceeded to tell our server that we wanted a warm breakfast, to which she said "I have to get the assistant manager to approve it". The assistant manager could not do anything and had to get the manager, Becca, to come and we had to state our case for the third time to her. She left her food sitting there and had to go clear it with the owner and eventually brought us out a replacement meal. I was very dissatisfied with how they handled this and they would not take the meal off the bill. Again, I have paid hundreds of tabs at this establishment and never asked for anything.. I was told by the server, assistant manager, and the manager that the place has now come under new ownership in the past month and things are changing for the worse. The chicken Parmesan was just ok, the garlic bread had no flavor at all but the turkey burger was thee best thing I've ever had. I will definitely be coming back for that. At first I wasn't going to have dessert but I have never heard of a waffle cake so we all split it. This thing was heaven. I was not prepared for how good that waffle was. Very soft yet crisp with a vanilla buttery flavor and then the whipped cream and fruit add to the magic. The ice cream is just a bonus to bring the symphony of flavor together perfectly! read more

Honestly nothing bad to say about this place, but I was just disappointed with the food. I wish I had taken pictures. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating, and the restaurant is huge - multiple different rooms for dining, bar, patio etc. Their menu is pretty large so I was stuck deciding what to order, but in the end I was disappointed. The Mac and cheese is nothing special, and the grilled chicken substitute in the beef burger was not anything good. It was dry, it was very unevenly cut. My friend and I went to Uptown Grill on Thursday evening around 5 o'clock. The weather was beautiful so we sat in the patio area where it opens to the outdoors and it was really pleasant... That was until, a few minutes after our order arrived, about five young ladies started dragging tables on the concrete floor and moving them around and moving chairs for at least 20 minutes or more. It was extremely noisy and annoying. We were unable to even talk to each other during this time. It totally put a damper on what we had hoped to be a relaxing dinner. Secondly, my onion rings were not battered as I had been told, but seemed like they were pre-frozen and they were way overcooked. It's not a real big deal, but things are starting to get annoying. The main thing was that my friend's ahi tuna salad was nothing like the one she previously had there and had been looking so forward to ordering again at this restaurant . She said it was so so disappointing. Our wonderful young server named anthony checked in with us and we voiced our issues very nicely. He felt terrible, said he was so sorry, and he said he would send the manager over. So... JOE, the manager arrived at our table without saying one word, put his hands on the back of the empty chair, and stared blankly at us while we voiced our "issues". Right away, he.began to challenge the amount of time that the tables were being rearranged and said it was only for a minute. NEVER argue with the customer! He should know better. He didn't say anything else, definitely nothing constructive.. didn't say he felt bad or I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your meal here or anything to indicate that he cared one bit. Nada...Nothing remotely indicating that he was at all interested. .When we were finished talking, he just turned around and left. He was rude and demeaning, and if he worked for me, I would fire him on the spot. We were not looking for or asking for anything from him. We just wanted to let him know about problems in his restaurant that he is supposed to be running, hopefully improving, and I would assume his goal would be having ,content, happy, satisfied, patrons. A while later, he had the nerve to walk up to our table and grab an empty plate from the table and walked away, again without saying a word to us. His body language said it all. Came on a "specials" night they offer $10 burger with a purchase of two drinks on the menu It does not tell you that the drinks have to be alcohol after purchasing and getting my bill for the night the waiter comes out to me and says the manager is going to obey by the deal but next time you have to come in and buy alcohol.
