I've been to Uptown many times, usually in the evenings for dinner and live music. It's usually a good experience once you park and get inside and as long as you have the right expectations. The place is huge: dining rooms, private room, large bar area with many TVs, a stage and dance floor area, plus an outdoor patio which is enclosed for all year round use. It is usually very busy and therefore very loud especially in the bar/TV area. The menu has lots of options including for restricted diet which I appreciate being gluten free. The portions are large, you get your money's worth, even if the food itself is not super imaginative. The salads are my favorite, and are large enough to share. The Chop salad with steak and shrimp is very filling. The Greek with chicken actually comes with a good amount of toppings, not just a single beet or pepperoncini pepper on top. The service is always great and staff is friendly and accommodating. Splitting bills even for a large group is not an issue. If you're there on a weekend night for the live music, the dance floor area can get packed. The crowd and vibe depends on which band and music genre is playing. Overall it's usually a good night out, not a lot of places where you can get dinner and dance in the same location. read more

This was my first visit to Uptown Grille and unfortunately, I neglected to take photos. My friend and I both ordered Uptown Chicken which was supposed to be lightly breaded with a garlic cream sauce. When our food arrived, we were both surprised at the amount of breading on the chicken and the thick sauce. Although the flavor of the dish was good, it was much heavier than we expected. I ordered the petite baked potatoes and my friend got mashed potatoes. I preferred her mashed over the baked. The green beans were fresh and yummy. When I pulled up, the parking lots were packed! It had been 10 years since I've been here. It huge inside with multiple bars, tons of TV and loud AF. The decor is pretty cool. We sat in the covered patio with heater and it was a bit quicker. We had great service. The menu is a typical bar fare. It's a shoulder shrug food experience. Nothing bad but not great either. The starter of bang bang shrimp was flavorful and the shrimp crispy but that's where it ended. The salads were subpar. Some might say, it's a salad - aren't they boring? No, they shouldn't be. I added shrimp to mine and somehow the shrimp had no flavor. Where did it go? The ahi tuna salad looked good too but the tuna was cooked too much. It should just kiss the heat, not actually cook. I grew up around Detroit but I reside in Jacksonville Florida now. My wife and I flew up to the Detroit area for a concert along with a few days with friends and family. Someone I know suggested Uptown Grille as a good place for a large group. I'm glad they did! There were 10 of us so I can't speak to all of the food everyone had but I can speak to the treatment we received, which was top notch. I am really mad at myself because I can't remember the name of the gentleman who waited on our group but he was GREAT. He had a young lady with him that he was training on July 1st, 2025 so I hope that helps. Both him and her were so nice to everyone in our group through the whole night. I wish they could've waited on us at the next place we went to, but that's for another (unfortunately bad) review. First time here. Very interesting place. It has something for everyone. Nice dining room on the east side, bar atmosphere in the middle, a large enclosed and heated patio-like vibe on the west side. A bit loud there, which is where we sat. The menu also has something for everyone. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snackers. We tried a salad, nachos and wings. All were great! On a Saturday evening there were two birthday party tables nearby who seemed to have a great time. The band was awesome (Love Junkies). About 9pm it turns into more of a night club. Our server, Bianca, was wonderful. Very attentive and on point. Super friendly too. Check out their menu. I usually steer away from places if the menu is too large. They got it though. The chicken Parmesan was just ok, the garlic bread had no flavor at all but the turkey burger was thee best thing I've ever had. I will definitely be coming back for that. At first I wasn't going to have dessert but I have never heard of a waffle cake so we all split it. This thing was heaven. I was not prepared for how good that waffle was. Hostess was very polite and wanted us to be patient as there was only 1 server. And that was Maria. She was fantastic. Very friendly and attentive even though she was busy. We ordered the lunch portions of chicken picatta and bourbon street mac n cheese. Lunch portions my behind. Absolutely huge. Way too much for 1 eater. Chicken picatta had lots of lemon caper butter sauce and plenty of artichokes. Plenty of tender chicken. Bourbon Street mac was very good. Had a creole sauce that was just above my heat level but I still enjoyed it. Lots of red and green peppers. Applewood smoked bacon was a nice culinary touch. Finally was able to make it into Uptown and of course it was very busy like always. Staff were very friendly in recommending the best spot to sit (since it was cool outside) and at getting us seated quickly. Our waitress did take a lot of time to come to our table (about 15 minutes after sitting) and we finally flagged down the two gentleman that were the hostess. They right away got our waitress to the table. We put in our orders and waited maybe 10 minutes for our appetizers and another 15 for our food. This all came at perfect timing. I was happy to be able to enjoy my appetizers in peace and not be rushed with my entree. We did order from the bar and were happy because there were non-alcoholic spirits/beer to choose. The food was actually very delicious. I'm not a fan or "bar food", but this didn't tasted anything of that nature. Food was hot and fresh. Nothing tasted frozen at all. Chicken wings were very good. The steak bites were very delicious. I ordered the uptown chicken which came with some potatoes and green beans. This dish was very good, but maybe I would ask for sauce in the side. Just a personal preference. The chicken was seasoned so well! And you get two pieces which is nice. My friend ordered the fried perch and said it was good. Fish was crispy and not soggy. Overall the steak bites might have been my favorite thing I tried today. Their breadsticks were great too. We left as the band was setting up which would have been amazing to see. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating, and the restaurant is huge - multiple different rooms for dining, bar, patio etc. Their menu is pretty large so I was stuck deciding what to order, but in the end I was disappointed. The Mac and cheese is nothing special, and the grilled chicken substitute in the beef burger was not anything good. It was dry, it was very unevenly cut. As you know, it rare from this Yelp account to give 5 stars. EBS was picky and I am keeping up his legacy. But great food with friendly service that is there when you need them, and lots of free parking, they earned it. Also the ability to make reservations for a group of friends so separate checks is a must is at times hard to find. Everytime I drive past, the lot is almost filled. So I booked a Memorial Day lunch for my Meetup group. That filled up quickly and hardly any dropped out. Kitchen was at times a little slow, but that is getting to be the normal lately. But the huge nachos appetizer help with the wait. I took some home and it warmed up well. I ordered the strip steak for $28 which is a bargain right now. It was large enough for me to take 2/3 of it, the wild rice and the asparagus home and they tasted great even warm up. One other order it too and told me he was happy he did. Others loved what they ordered. While I didn't get a chance to photograph the adult drinks menu, but the few that ordered beer and wine was satisfied with their choice. Those of us that ordered dessert share some with others. The bumpy cake is one of the reasons we will be back. Parking is easy with the size of the lot, you may have to walk a little. Some handicap parking is right across from the door but not sure if it will be enough when they are busy. I was told to book this again in the fall. A few plan to eat here more often. read more

I've been working in this area and asked someone what restaurants were good there. She mentioned a few I would never go to, but also said Uptown Grill was amazing. So, I've found since they don't take online orders on Saturday or Sunday, because I guess they're too busy (and I normally won't order unless I can do it online - and that it's a good website where you can customize your order). Wish I'd taken a photo of the turkey club I got, but I was too hungry. It was expensive, but So good (and so much food I had it for lunch and dinner). Would 100% order from them again. If I can order online. So probably only on Fridays. Would have ordered again this weekend, but no online ordering. So they must be too busy on weekends to do online ordering. read more

Uptown Grille has been a place I frequent often when home the atmosphere and the food are always A1 this trip was no different, went during a busy Saturday night (lions where playing) unable to get a seat at the bar however they had the patio open. All of the food came out hot and fresh and delicious! They never disappoint with the portion sizes of everything they note shareable items but truthfully everything is shareable as the portion sizes are huge and you definitely getting what you pay for. Not pictures is the truffle Mac and tenderloins which was so good! And huge had to take most of it home with us. The service was great our waiter Chris continued to come back and check on us and let us know the bar was busy and so our drinks would be slow that was truly appreciated. As for the atmosphere it is a great place to watch the game, get some music(live, dj or simply pandora) we were lucky we got live music and a DJ in one night.
