Ann Arbor Arms is THE BEST range, store, and training facility for anyone from novice to professional/competitive shooter. It had been YEARS since I had handled a firearm. My biggest apprehension was if I could remember how to be safe from handling to firing to range. I joined A3 as an elite member last year but finally "pulled the trigger" (hehe) and signed up for a Ladies' Night last week. This was the best decision I could have made to reintroduce myself. Ladies' Night was from 5-7pm, with two hours of instruction and walk through before heading down to the range. Not only instruction but conversation, snacks and a safe space for women to ask any questions. A3 provided the sidearms and ammo. Everyone had a great time and was able to fire 12 shots at a target provided. I left with a lot more confidence to visit and expand my skill by leveraging the elite membership. I cannot say enough of how fantastic A3 is for a gun owner. They have tons of specials, sales, events and the membership perks are amazing. This was not my first visit or class but this was the first time I ever fired at this range. Hit me up if you have any questions or want to get a membership. The range staff keeps a close eye on the range and addresses issues to prevent a safety issue. The ranges are temperature controlled and in great working order. They are suitable for pistol or initial rifle setup but you really need an outdoor 100 yard range if you want to dial in for hunting. I have not taken any classes there yet but have heard good things from others. They can take your from the basics to advanced. I see the shooters who have taken classes and it shows.

They have a huge selection of guns, and rifles. If you want to try one without a membership, there is a fee. But with certain memberships, I think it is free. Our time on the range was good. What we received for our membership was a plus. The line for members was a little long. They only had one line open. Eventually a man came and opened another lane, but this was for non-members.

I did the rifle and pistol ranges, which are down a long paved downhill sidewalk. 100 and 50 yard rifle and 3 to 25 yard pistol. There are some pistol plates. The firing positions are covered. There a safety employee on site who calls for the target change and supervises to make sure no one is near their firearms. Clean, well maintained. For some reason the targets use toothpicks, which is bad when the wind blows. Nice shooting benches. The range is pricey. Maybe too much. Probably too much.

That's when I witnessed the awesome power of what a shotgun can do to a person. I assure you, it was disgusting as much as it was fascinating. Well, I come from a gun-toting family. My mother can bust ass with a 45-magnum, and my sister could probably make a career as a professional sniper. For the longest time, they thought I was adopted because I had absolutely no interest in guns. After school was over, I decided it was time. IT WAS AWESOME. My axilla are bruised (both! learned that although I'm right handed, I'm a lefty shot). I had a teenager help me out since it was my first time. I yelped my first shot (and not in the usual yelp-kinda way). Since I'm a girl and it was my first time, I got 2 boxes of shot free. Normally $3 a box. 100 shots = $30 = better way of spending 1.5 hours of entertainment than in the casino, and way more rewarding, I assure you. They will lend you the gun, ear protection, eye protection. Ask for David, the young lad who helped me out. "Knowing nothing about guns, I was gifted my father's favorite hand gun when he passed away knowing that "it needed parts". I was recommended to Center Mass and met Patrick as soon as I walked in. He helped me put the parts we had back together and researched what part was missing. He thoroughly explained how it would still work without it but also the consequences of not getting a new one. Unfortunately, there were no parts available online - anywhere - for such an old German gun but he helped me figure out how I could make one myself.
