Everybody needs a jeweler, and Cooper & Binkley is a great choice if you live in or near Brighton…read more This family business has a rich history, and is very involved in the community (donating to charities, promoting downtown events, etc.) The employees are schooled in gems and jewelry, and the shop carries signature lines like Simon G., which offers beautiful engagement rings and fine jewelry with a trendy edge. Unfortunately, I don't spend a lot on jewelry, but I go in every year to order a charm for my daughter's bracelet. Even though this is not a large purchase, they always offer to clean my rings for free, and return them to me all shiny and displayed on velvet along with a piece of chocolate. Classy! :) When the price of gold skyrocketed, it seems they began carrying more and more upscale alternatives like colorful ICE watches and Chamilia charms (compatible with Pandora). They also have a Godiva counter, making it the perfect place to pick up a gift of jewelry and chocolate for a special occasion. What woman wouldn't LOVE that? Don't be shy to stop in and browse. Cooper & Binkley is interested in courting customers for the long haul. They realize if they win you over now, you will think of them for your next milestone. On another note, as the parent of two students in Brighton Area Schools, their annual first grade Mother's Day event is ADORABLE. They work with the elementaries to have the kids paint portraits of their moms, then display them during a gallery-style opening complete with hors d'oeuvres and goodie bags. It's a proud moment for the children involved and the portraits are keepsakes forever.

Wish I could give this place a better review but extremely bummed out with the service I received…read more My wife, full of excitement, took her ring into this store to finally get it soldered with her new wedding band. She was trying to support small business as we felt they would take more pride in their work and we have been shopping here for a long time (as well as our families). The worker took the ring and said it would be no problem. It took over 2 weeks and when we got it back the rings weren't even touching. My wife was so upset. My mother in law took the ring back in and they told her it wasn't possible to get the rings closer. We wanted to keep our business with them but they left us no choice. We took it down the street to F.A.O. Jewelers. They were in awe. We dropped it off yesterday morning and by 4pm today they had it done. Completely re-soldered and looks perfect. They made me aware that many people have had this same issue. Very sad. Hate to write bad reviews against small businesses and wish they could change my mind. If you are young couple looking to save money anywhere you can, just take it to F.A.O. Unfortunately we didn't have $130 to spare but we were left with no choice. Attached below is what it looked like after C&B vs FAO.

We were brought no silverware or napkins by our waitress, and another waitress noticed that and brought us what we needed. The burgers and patty melts do not come with anything, not even potato chips! I could see being charged if you want fries, but I don't know of any other place that doesn't give you chips with your burger. We asked for lemon water with our meal and one came out with a lemon in it and the other with nothing. The place was not busy at all, but it took a while to get our food, and the waitress apologized for bringing the salad out ahead of time, which I thought was very strange since that's the way it's supposed to be. About two minutes later, our main meal came out l, so we didn't even have enough time to eat our salad. Regarding the salad, it was listed under sides and it said side salad, six dollars, but apparently we missed a little *, which signified that it was an up charge for a salad and it was $7 dollars, not $6. Not sure what made that small side salad with just tomatoes and cucumbers and croutons and upgraded salad! Prices were a little bit higher than expected, and they offer zero discounts for seniors, military, law-enforcement, educators, or anything. She basically said "we don't do discounts." We probably won't be back there, because we feel like it's pretty much a money grab!

I've had this clock since 1991, and it looks perfect on the wall in the living room. I decided that since I can't find a modern quartz operated battery clock with a similar face that is 12+ wide in diameter, it was well worth saving despite a family member who advised to toss it into the garbage can. One of my friends at work recommended the Northville Watch and Clock Shop. This business is located in a vintage house that has been converted into a business that does first-rate repairs on any type of clock or watch, especially cuckoo clocks from Germany. With that being said, the service that is provided here is top-notch, and super fast. I was thinking it might take a few months to repair my beloved wall clock, but it was done within a week, complete with a new movement installed. Likewise, all of the repairs done here come with a complete one-year warranty. The best part, the clock keeps perfect time like it did when I first bought it back in 1991.

Lady was pleasant and first said that I could have it back on Tuesday after 12 (this was Saturday at 1 pm!). When I demurred, she then said -ok, we can do it now. Just come back to pick it up before we close (they close at 3). We had plans for lunch in Dearborn and headed there. She then calls me at 1:23 pm saying it was ready for pick up! Why couldn't she have just told me to wait? We are on our way back from lunch and I called to ask if she could please give us 5 extra minutes (ETA was 3:05) to pick up. Her response? "No, we close at 3 sharp. Are you going to be able to get here in time?" FYI -not great service, guys. I'm in the market for a grandfather clock and would have loved to support a local business. Clearly, I won't be supporting this one.
