I wanted to crop multiple Los Angeles Apparel hoodies that were too long. Before I came to Uptown I took the hoodies elsewhere and was told the alterations I wanted weren't possible, that the pocket on the front couldn't be moved. When I brought them to Uptown, the woman who runs the place told me no problem, picked out matching threads with me, and overall did an amazing job for a great price. I brought my Restoration Hardware curtains (natural white velvet, 3 years old) to Uptown Cleaners and when I picked them up they were slightly grey. The kind of grey you get when you wash whites with darks. I have 3 windows with these curtains and had intended to have them dry cleaned in turns. I tried to be okay with the 'new grey' look but the contrast with the other curtains was extreme. They lost their luster and the grey looks dingy. Btw. this was not the first time the curtains have been cleaned: the curtains had been successfully dry cleaned before by a different dry cleaner. I went back to Uptown cleaners and explained the issue. I had photos of the curtains which clearly show the difference between the original natural white and the new dingy grey. The store owner asked me to bring back the actual curtains. OK, so off I went and retrieved the curtains. Well what can I say, it was a very unpleasant experience and somehow I am left with ruined curtains and was even denied a refund. FYI, I have never before written a negative review. read more

I don't give any place just 5 unless its superb. I had about 20 baseball jerseys filled with grass stains, dirt and God knows what to clean. Two days later I came back to pick up my dry cleaning and I was a AMAZED by how clean the jerseys were! I thought they bought 20 new jerseys because it was so clean! ahhhh love this place, great service, great cleaner. Definitely worth the money!! read more

This dry cleaners just opened and is the best in town. They have a 30% off promotion right now and makes their already low prices even lower. I brought in some wool sweaters, dress pants, shirts and ties and they were very clean when I got them back...they even got out some stains I had from dropping dim sum on my tie and slacks! The service is great and the turnaround is pretty fast! They're even open on Sundays which makes it more convenient. read more

My parents have used this cleaners for a LONG time, one day my daughter was going to the Crunchy Roll Anime convention and she got her costume in the mail the day before the event and her Cosplay costume didn't fit!!! It was a Saturday and I tried Every Cleaners in Albany, Berkeley, and El Cerrito to get a same day alteration. Uptown Cleaners saved me, my daughters Cosplay outfit fit her perfectly, and their price was Very reasonable. I just discovered this place while walking on Solano one day and decided to give it a try. The people that work there are really nice and the service was so cheap! i think they still have a promotion going on too for 30% cleaning, and they even do alterations. i know the other reviews for this place are good, and the guy who is in there, is nice, but my experience here has not been good. first off, i got my clothes ( two dresses, a pair of pants and a skirt) back. they were pressed well, but there were still stains on my pants and one dress. the other dress was missing the straps that i brought in. so basically i paid $26 (not bad for cleaning), but i lost two dresses and a pair of pants. so that is a bummer. i went back today because the guy said they had "found a belt." i told him that was great but i was missing straps to a dress. so if you lost a belt.... he says he will talk to the people who do the cleaning and get back to me. i have never had this type of problem with any other dry cleaner, and it doesn't sound like it is usual for Uptown, either. but you deserve to know the bad they do, too. good luck to you if you take your clothes here. i won't take them here again unless i am looking to get back dirty pieces of clothing. read more

This is a fantastic dry cleaner! Turnaround time is quick and the hours of operation are conducive for people who work 9-5PM jobs. An added bonus, she is a great tailor! She has tailored my jeans, my husband's work pants, and a white jumpsuit I wore for my wedding. read more

I've been coming here for about 6 months now. I first decided to try them out because their colorful price display, which they place in front of their store, caught my eye. It's 3.95 for tops and pants and 1.29 for laundered shirts. Also I brought a queen comfortable in for cleaning because it is too big for my machine at home--that was about 20. It's hard to beat their prices and the fact that they are open Sundays is unique for a cleaners on Solano. Taking away one star because they don't have one day service, but I usually don't need that anyways. read more

They still have the best prices in town, and their customer service is excellent. I've also gotten to know the owners, over the years, and they're really sweet people. The only thing worse than not taking responsibility is blaming the customer for the problem. I took a small canvas bag in to be cleaned. Not a big job. Not particularly dirty. They said they would have it ready in 4 days. Went back today, 10 days later, and the lady handed me my uncleared bag and tried to explain away why they had done absolutely nothing with it ... she didn't know what to do (I had left my phone number...could have called to ask), it was too dirty (it had been sitting for 10 days and they hadn't even tried...how would they know?!), etc. etc. I would give them 0 stars if an option. Terrible job. Terrible customer service. read more
