The reason I'm posting this review is because the service we had last night on August 30th 2025, was the worst service I received in a long time. We came in from Richmond Virginia on a bus trip to upscale lounge in Virginia Beach, we were so excited. So when we got there they let us in first of course because we was off of a bus and then the rest of the patrons followed suit. It was a very nice ambiance from the beginning until the end, but it was better at the old location in Norfolk Virginia, but anyway the service was shoddy because they only had one you heard what I said,,,ONE waitress the entire night and she wasn't approachable she gave you that look and you knew what it was so I didn't bother her because I didn't want to mess my night up I went up to the bar to get whatever I needed, which we understood because she was overwhelmed she was only one person. The upscale lounge is to blame for that, because they had a lot of people and the lines at the bar stayed busy and this girl was working her butt off bringing food she never got a break the whole entire time. The bathrooms was f***** all up and nasty. But you charge an arm and a leg to come in there and then you give us f***** up service. Won't be coming back there anytime soon and if I can help it at all. No bathroom tissue in the stalls when I went in there twice at all but I bring my own tissues wherever I go. The bar area the people was so so friendly and nice to everybody and that's the truth. And I tipped!!! Because why not we're supposed to when we get good service. But service at my table was awful I know it was only one person doing the waiting of tables but her energy was awful and so we did not leave a tip because we all got our own s*** from the bar. So we cleaned our own table we took the trash to the bar area where they have four trash bins lined up for you to throw your trash away, but the tables was never taken care of so we had to do it ourselves, so to upscale lounge you might want to read write the name of your establishment it should be downscale lounge because treat your customers right, which you did not do and you didn't care and I will let my friends know and I have a lot of friends and associates not to attend your establishment because as we can see you're all about the dollar and not giving the service we deserve,,, whomever did the staffing should be fired as of now!!! I had great experiences in Norfolk upscale then you moved to Virginia Beach and you have failed your customer base,,, so now we will have to sit back and find better suited places for us to attend, and we attend every year sometimes twice,,, think about what your customers are saying and have the day that you deserve!!! Owner is not professional, super strict dress code for a hole in the wall club with watered down drinks.

My friend and I were here tonight for ladies night and I must say how disappointed I am in how much Upscales has changed from how it was back in the day. First of all, I am dressed to the nines just like my friend was, and upon coming into the club the female security guard was like no flip flops are allowed after she asked me to raise my floor-length dress, I told her I had on Steve Madden Egyptian sandals and that there is a difference between flip-flops and sandals. Yet I see people in the club with flip-flops on, sneakers, workout clubs, and underwear being shown and you dare to be worried about some damn flip-flops. Please make it make sense. The cost for water-down plastic cup drinks is astronomical as we had two tequila sunrises at $27. We ordered a second round of drinks that came in glasses, not the plastic cups we had the first go-round. This is why I cannot and do not support black-owned businesses because this was a hot asf mess tonight literally. Be better and do better because this is not conducive by any means necessary and the things I saw tonight were enough to make Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder have sight. I will not be returning and your club requires some serious remodeling and upgrades. It reminds me a lot of the Broadway old and rundown asf. read more

It took a very long time to receive the food. They only had one cook on a FRIDAY!!! Establishment does not give discounts for poor service.

This antiquated establishment is lost in the past. Their dress code is for grandparents only. You can wear sneakers but not boots if you're a man. Everyone is above 70 and they only want an elderly crowd. If you are over 70, this is your spot. If you don't want to party with your grandparents, you will hate it. It's all Steve Harvey suits lol. The owner is old and grumpy and wants young women to party with his old friends. The service is subpar and the decor is whole in the wall worthy. Besides DJ Jack of Spades, the music is trash and outdated. Never again! Don't go here if you're not someone's great grandparent. read more

Upscale is a nice place for the grown and sexy. They are located at the end of a shopping strip with a parking lot in front. They have security at the door. The waitresses were phenomenal. They were very helpful and quick. The music is great. The have a special night each night during the weekend. Take over Thursday and Forbidden Friday are two I know of. They two full bars. The drinks are over priced. They have a buffet on some nights. They cater parties with food and seating. We celebrated my mother's 60th birthday celebration with family and friends. We had tables reserved with a buffet of Fried chicken wings,green beans,meatballs,potato salad,and rolls. The food was hot and good. The party enjoy the food,dancing and the spirits. I would suggest upscale for a celebration and a good time. read more

This place is in entire mess!! standing outside waiting just to order to get chicken wings....all I wanted was chicken wings and upon my arrival and going to the front door the security guard gave me attitude and hostility. A bald headed gentleman that speaks very fast. Now hebwouldny even let me in to buy wing so I had to ask Mr. Sam to help me out. Je took myborder and got my wing I. 45 minutes (too long for me) ....however I did meet a few people outside that were asking me if they could assist and get the chicken wings for me. It's come as you like... it's not about quality, it's all about quantity . I guess the $20 ADMISSION FEE is to help make up form when it was closed during the pandemic. It's NOT worth it. The Drinks and food are always on point! The wings never miss! The atmosphere is always grown and sexy minus the one time they had a bassinet in the middle of the club's dance floor collecting baby gifts that was very tacky I'm not sure what that was all about Dress code is strictly up to the guy at the door He wouldn't let my brother in with his Alexander Mcqueen shoes on, but later that night we see a brother with sneakers on but anyway moving on ******* Most recently since the pandemic have been and the DJ on Saturday nights isn't much of a DJ! He play the same song EVERY SATURDAY in order almost like it's just a Playlist He NEVER talks on the jmic unless he's doing a birthday shot out or some announcements Maybe this is what they want in their club but it's very boring and dry to hear the SAME PLAYLIST every SATURDAY with a quiet DJ !!!!! If I was 50 and older this place would be my spot! This place definitely lives up to the name "grown and sexy". I went out with my older co workers over the weekend and Upscales was their place of choice. It was well lit and had plenty of seating. I would recommend getting there early because the seats filled fast. The cover charge was $10 after 10pm. Free before 10. The men had on 3 piece suits and top hats and the women wore casual clothes. I definitely felt under dressed with my sheer top and 4 inch stilettos. The chicken wings were really good and the drinks were not bad either. They played a variety of music ranging from the early 90s to today's music. I was entertained watching people dance. They "two stepped" to every song lol. Lots of line dancing as well. To sum it up it was an ok club. Nothing wrong just too old for my liking but I was a good sport about it. If you are looking for an older crowd this is the place for you. read more

Me and my friend threw our men a party here atmosphere was great we paid 240$ for 8 tables and 30$ worth of food which was false advertising from what was posted on the club website the owners did not care because they made a easy 240$ thinking from the website we were going to be seated in the VIP section which is 100$ yes cheaper then the 8 tables mind you we traveled with 20 people from out of town wanting us to pay another 100$ to sit in the VIP which was the picture posted that we thought we were booking anyway very messy and unprofessional. My first encounter with upscales and it won't be my last was their New Years Eve party. This venue is marketed for the grown and sexy crowd and it not the playground for the rambunctious 18ners. I could feel the maturity level from the moment we walked in the door and were greeted by the staff and personally escorted to our seats. Upscale offers a buffet, with dessert that doesn't disappoint and they also gave us free party favors! Two of my favorite things, food and free stuff. Surprisingly the bar had the secret drink my wife and I love and made it perfectly unlike other bars we've visited. All in all we had a good time and upscale gets my stamp of approval. read more

The age requirement is 27 and up, but I don't think I saw many 30-somethings at all. So if you are looking to be around an older crowd, Upscale is the place for you. Lots of 40+. Probably 70% of the population. Endless cougars, sugar daddies, and older couples who just like to "Step in the Name of Love." The dress code varies from men in Steve Harvey suits, Polos and Dockers, to Miami Vice linen suits; Women in leotards or bathing suits, church dresses, to ill-fitting skorts. Not skirt. A SKORT. Really. Everything except entry is expensive. Like "a night out in a major city" expensive. But I think you could still have a good time. It's clean and semi-spacious. There is a pool table. And if you like dancing, there's a lot of that. However, the music is as old as the crowd's first born in college. And while this was a better time for music (I love the 90's), this "lounge" could stand to have a DJ who is current and on trend. Interesting place..it's more like cabaret from the 80's/90's than a lounge. This place is teaming with middle age adults with the median age being people in their 40's. And don't be surprised if you see someone who looks like your grandpa. That being said I had a pretty great time here. The music was a mix of old school, 80's, 90's, line dance, Marvin Gaye and new school music too. The dance floor, albeit small compared to the size of the place, was packed all night. If you are sensitive to loud music make sure to bring ear plugs. We went on a Saturday night and had to pay a cover to get in. There were more tables around the dance floor than I have ever seen in a club, ever. If you are a person who likes to have a seat or table without having to shell out money for VIP this place is for you. (friend of a friend of a friend) It's thanksgiving day weekend Im in from out of town and they're charging women $20 to enter. The DJ is WACK the crowd is even more WACK. The Pitbull at the door taking everyone's money is rude and never smiles. Don't waste your time, after spending about 30minutes here we headed for the door. We asked for a refund but were unsuccessful. But what we did do was encourage several partygoers to try a different venue. They left as well. Ok..ok.. Last night i wanted some good food and music... I got one thing...Music... This place has so much potential but its going down the drain. It took 40 mins for a waitress to take our order. Thin had to wait another 30 to 40 mins for the food.. When the food came out it was cold.. I had fried shrimp, greens and potato salad.. The potato salad was good thou... And the house drink.. Nice nightclub for mature adults 30 & up. With two bars the club is more than spacious. Upscales features booth seating as well as bar seats. Catering fried chicken, potato salad, and green beans are included if you book a party. The waitresses never kept us waiting while taking our orders. Went there for a birthday party and I should have known something was wrong when I saw the rag tag waitresses dresses like low class bondage victims. The drinks were horribly overpriced, and the bathrooms were a joke. They keep the lights low which is probably a blessing. The DJ was stuck in the 90's and though the crowd was made up of 50+ folks, he played ZERO old school selections. I paid extra for a booth and the table and seats were sticky. Some friends and I made a quick trip up to Virginia Beach for MEAC and found ourselves at Upscale for drinks and dancing. I have to say... I had a blast. The lounge is located in a strip mall and parking isn't terrible. Although the lot was full of cars when we arrived around midnight, we were able to find a spot not too far from the door. Cover was $10 per person, cash only. The inside of this place is huge, which is great because I never felt crowded. There are two bars, so the wait for bar service was always short. Crowd was mature, with most folks being 40+. I felt like one of the younger people in the room, in my early 30s, but it was all good bc the DJ kept the party going, and the dance floor stayed packed. We ate dinner beforehand, but I heard the wings here are amazing. Maybe next time. Drinks were fine and fairly priced, we ordered two margaritas, a Jack and coke, and a Ketel tonic for $42. I appreciated that there were lots of tables and booths so we could sit. We did have to wait a while for a table to open up, but it was all good- we spent most of our time on the dance floor anyway. Overall, great time. I'd totally go back. Minus one star because the bar area and bathroom could stand a good cleaning/wipe down. read more

Went on Saturday night. The crowd was between mid 30s and all the way up. Food was delish and dancing was great. Whether you're two-stepn, light booty poppn, coupled up or line dancn' it was a fun night. I was in Norfolk over the weekend and went out to club upscales while i was there i paid for 2 beers but didn't get my change back When I mention get to the Bartender said she gave me my change back in which she did not The manager just blew me off and said she worked for him for 20 years and she was a manager so i said managers don't make mistakes so they never gave me my change back so if you going to spend New Year's Eve at club upscales please make sure the bartender give you your change back, I really can't believe that is how they do people but I'm sure I'm not the only one .
