They have trivia night every Thursday night. I highly recommend going. It's very fun! For drinks I got one of the citrus sours and it was refreshing. For food I built my own burger and got a side of tots. The burger was really good and I liked the sauce on the side they served it with. Went here on a Monday night around 6 pm. There weren't many people inside which was nice. There's a downstairs area with some games you can sit in which was completely empty when I went and an upstairs area where more of the games were. I opted to sit upstairs. It was supposed to be happy hour when I was there; however I wasn't given a separate happy hour specific menu so that had me a little lost. The waiter even said it was happy hour time so I just assumed my drinks and possibly the food would ring up with a discount, but that didn't happen so that was definitely a let down for sure. I ordered their Saturday Night loaded tater tots (10/10) they were so good! I also got their Big Mic double cheese burger (6/10) it was very very dry. Def had to put a lot of ketchup because the burger itself was not juicy in the slightest. As for drinks, I ordered their Mango Man blue curaçao drink (9/10) it was really good, def would order again for sure. Overall, I love the whole vibe of pixels. Playing different arcade games, getting food and drinks, and just having fun was exactly what I was looking for. They even will play movies on the projector for you if you ask, the waiter had put on dead pool while I was there. As it got later into the night, crowds of people started to roll in and the place became busy. I'm for sure going to come back, hopefully I can find out what specifically the "happy hour" entails since there wasn't a specific menu for it and no details about it anywhere either. My boyfriend made a reservation for 3 people for trivia night. When we arrived and told them we had a reservation, we were told to sit anywhere. This was a bit confusing because at our usual trivia spot a reservation means having a specific table reserved. Maybe a reservation isn't required here? We arrived slightly before 7, but our server didn't come to our table until 15 minutes after, just after happy hour ended. She apologized for not serving us immediately because they were understaffed, which I understood. I asked her if we could still get happy hour because we arrived before 7, but she told us no because the computer would register it as after. I really hoped they had a way to override this and give it to us anyway (some restaurants do), but I'll give myself more time to catch happy hour next time. The atmosphere was overstimulating. The music was still played loud while the trivia questions were being read, and the arcade games added to the noise. It would've been better if they turned the music down or off at least while the questions were being read. The trivia host was kinda condescending, but I heard this was a guest host, so it's not always the same. Despite everything above, I had a good time and enjoyed my mango-man drink! I love fruity drinks and I can definitely see myself getting it again. My boyfriend enjoyed mine so much that he got one for himself too. We were in last place at the first half but finished 2nd after wagering all our points on the last question LOL. We had my husband's birthday party here and we all had a great time. The food was really good and our server was awesome. He took very good care of us. When I made our reservation, I was told there's a $1.00 per person extra charge for me to bring in our own birthday cake. I've never been charged extra anywhere we've gone for bringing in cake. They don't sell birthday cake, so I didn't take any money from their business by bringing cake. I also brought all the plates and forks for our party, so they didn't have to wash any extra dishes. We booked a room for 30 people for a 50th birthday party. It was going to be our first time there. They wait until the night before the party around 5pm to let us know that our booking was cancelled. Supposedly a party was booked in May for the same night. Total BS. If they had been booked since May then how did they approve ours, and wait until the last minute to tell us. It will be difficult to get ahold of everyone and we can not find another place this close. Think twice before booking with them. They do not care about you. I've been to Pixels two times since they opened last year - 4/6/19 & 6/22/19. My first visit was with my friend Neal after we checked out some MMA (Spartyka) at nearby Chartway Arena. Neal lives in VB and doesn't get out to Norfolk much, so I convinced him to check out Pixels since it has old coin-op video games. It was a Saturday night and the place was packed - all students from ODU. We were likely the oldest customer there, but whatever. If you don't already know, Pixels took over New Belmont and is two-floor operation. Within this building is two-floors of food, drink and video games! The arcade machine take proprietary coins, so you can use a change machine located throughout, or if you have big bills you can get change at any of their bars (they will give you coins in a Crown Royal bag!). That first visit was fun - despite the crowds our server was friendly, attentive and helpful with describing their menu items. We opted to not play any games that night, but they left a big enough impression that Neal threw a surprise birthday party for his brother, Chris, on 6/22/19. Speaking of the food, they offer some interesting items, like Belly of the Beast, which are pork belly bites. On my first visit, I tried their wings, called the Wang Chung and GTFOH with tots. The Wang Chung are 2x fried wings with an adobo dry rub, which were excellent. GTFOH were tots (although I believe you can choose fries instead) served with a 3 cheese sauce, chili, creme fraiche, pickled peppers, tomatoes and chives. Interestingly, I looked on their website (pixelspintsandbytes.com/bytes) and it looks like the pork belly bites are gone, while Wang Chung and GTFOH have been renamed. Regardless, Pixels provides fun for all, offers good food and drink and the service is excellent. In addition, they're open late, so there's always an opportunity to check them out. JV read more

This was my first visit here. Very nostalgic place. Perfect casual date night spot. Variety of pinball machines to classics like Frogger, Pac-Man, Mrs Pac-Man, Galactica, Centipede, Mortal Kombat, air hockey, and many more. We tried the Philly loaded tots. They were decent. The tots were cooked perfectly, grilled onions, and a delicious cheese sauce. Real steak was used but needed to be cut into smaller chunks. It seemed like a steak that was cut into thirds. The cocktails are what's keeping this from 5 stars. The flavors didn't go well together. The other cocktail was Jaegermeister based with ginger beer. Had a black licorice taste. Like Chuck E Cheese, but for adults!! I enjoyed my recent visit to the new Pixels = Pints + Bytes Barcade. I took my six year old to celebrate losing his first tooth, and we had a blast. First, I must say I was super impressed with the bartending staff -- they could easily have been annoyed with us because my son was counting out his tooth fairy change to exchange for tokens. But not only did they patiently wait for him to make the exchanges, they totally hooked him up with a few extra tokens which was so incredibly nice. They've got a variety of old school arcade games like Qubert, Mario, Pacman, Galaga, Mortal Kombat, etc., as well as some skeeball, an air hockey table, some pinball machines and more. Even tactile games like Simon Says and Rubix Cubes on the bar! The layout is really nice too - two stories, so plenty of room to explore in various rooms without any one area seeming too over crowded. I really liked that the machines are spread throughout instead of the bar in one place and the games in a another. They had a variety of drink specials -- I went with a glass of wine and wandered around enjoying the games with my kiddo for about an hour. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience and we'll probably make another visit here the next time the tooth fairy visits and leaves tokens! So, this is a very fun place. Felt like about 1/4 of the games were down. Kind of sad. But they still had a good selection and we had a good time. Apparently the trick is to not go on a Sunday afternoon/evening, if you want to try the food, they were 86 on a lot of things. However, what was available was pretty good. They staff was super friendly and the drinks were good. And this particular Sunday was slow and kind of quiet, so it was very relaxing. So maybe Sunday is the time to go. It is very easy to blow a chunk of change here. Each game is between 0.25 - 1.00, with all the good ones being 0.75 - 1.00. However, with the pinball machines, if you feed 2.00 in at once, you get 3 plays, which is good for me, I love pinball. Skiball machine is on a timer, and really low to the ground, wish they would raise it up about a foot, for my backs sake. kinda sucks having to beat the timer, but still fun. Overall 2 drinks, 2 apps, 2 meals and a lot of game play (about $20 worth) came out to about $90, not including tip. Our bartender, downstairs, was great, she got better than the 20%. I give 4 stars for the games and 3 stars for the food. Maybe if I was able to get some of the things I ordered I'd give it a 4. Maybe. We ordered 4 things, one of which was the nachos, it literally had 4 jalapeño slices and 3 tomatoes cubes on it. And looks like someone got over zealous scooping the black beans. Cheese was nothing to write home about either. But overall I'd go back for the games and the drinks, it was good time to play all the fun games from the childhood. I rank my decisions to eat / visit somewhere again as: 1 star - if someone else buys it I won't eat it, I would rather go hungry. 2 star - if I'm hungry, no other options are open and someone buys it - I would consider eating it 3 star - I'm ok with eating it as long as someone else pays 4 star - I will eat again and pay for it and be a semi-regular customer 5 star - I will travel for good food and pay good money and be back on a regular basis and maybe even pay for yours just so we can go read more

So, really wanted to like this place more. It's a great concept and location, and the games are fun. Menu is adorable, and the service was solid. The food, though is outright bad. Tempura broccoli? Cool concept here. Came here on a Saturday night and they were busier than I expected. This would probably be a good place to hang out when it's not so busy though. It was so crowded so we couldn't take advantage of playing any of the old school arcade games they had and it seemed like everyone there had no regard that there were other people waiting to play. There is also a skee ball and air hockey table. The two-story barcade also has an enclosed patio area and a section upstairs designated for smoking. Luckily we were able to find a section for our group to have a few drinks and make the most of our time there. The bartenders were fairly quick in getting our drinks out so no complaints there. Overall a 3.5 for me. I'm basing it on other barcades I've been to on the east coast and midwest, although as an individual establishment it's really not bad, definitely make your way there for some awesome games and drinks. The food was average for me; the menu is innovative and thought out, but I wasn't inspired by the flavor. If you're vegan they have options for you, and I think that's pretty cool. My tofu fries i felt would be better if they were perhaps cut thinner. At it's thickness, the center is bland and you have to rely on the sesame in the breading for flavor. It comes with a fig sauce which is tasty (resembles a bbq sauce) but I still felt that I wish the breading itself had more different seasonings. We tried the meatloaf corn dog out of curiosity, and it was pretty good. Comfort food on a stick. Mine broke apart a little, but I still ate each bit off the plate. Soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Then we had the burger with the mac and cheese on it. It was filling. The portion and price ratio for everything is good I'd say. A good selection of alcohol to choose from. They have some awesome old school games, from pin ball machines to button mashers to prize games. They're located upstairs and downstairs, so they're nice and spread out so that it doesn't crowd too bad. If you dont have cash, you can ask the staff to charge your card (we had an order, I'm not sure if you can do it without one) and they'll bring coins out to you. I felt like some of the machines were a little pricey, particularly for pinball. I know that it's just 3 coins, but when you play a lot it adds up, and majority of other barcades do one coin. At first me and my friends went here because we enjoyed playing arcade games and missed the experience of being in an arcade. Upon visiting, we were surprised by how good the food and drink selection was. Food is served on cafeteria style plates which we thought were cool. Went there this past weekend with my brother and my niece and nephew. It was a cool concept but it was pretty packed for an early afternoon. The first floor game play areas are pretty close to the tables where people are eating/drinking so can be a bit tight...I didn't see any bartenders at any of the bars or I would have ordered a beer...possibly?! The games for the most fun were fun....but it stunk when several of the machines ate the tokens...fun and drinks at own risk. Absolutley love this place. The atmosphere is really laidback. It's retro, focuses on more horror movie stuff in their decor, but tasteful, not scary. Then they have TV's playing all the older shows like "The Nanny", "Family Matters", and old school music videos. The food is delicious. We have not had anything bad there. Full bar with tons of beer and liquor to choose from. The pinball machines and arcade games are so fun and definitely brings me back to my childhood. The staff is great as well. They are always very kind and very attentive. This place is kid friendly too. My 7 year old son really enjoys coming here. They also offer 21+ after a certain time, I can't remember if it's 8 or 9 pm. Just all around a great place. Very retro vibe. Brought my 7 year old here around 6pm on Saturday. He enjoyed it so much, he loves these types of games so it was right up his alley. Most games are $0.25/per play which is extremely reasonable, we played for almost 3hours. They warn you at the entrance that at 9pm minors will have to leave but we don't stay out that late anyway. It was pretty packed but not overcrowded to where you couldn't play in peace although later in the evening people were getting louder and rowdier due to the college basketball games on the TV's which was understandable.
