No complaints about Mel's Place. It seems like a place where everyone knows each other. The crowd is older, but we all know that age is nothing but a number. I'll admit that it felt a little weird arriving in the bar...kinda like who is this person enter our establishment. However, that feeling went away within a few seconds. While visiting the bar for my rounds of booze, I had quite a few random conversations with a couple of the regulars. Sabrina, the bartender, was great and super friendly. The main bar is a bit smoky, but Mel's has a smoke-free section that is in a completely different room. The food and (more importantly) the beverages are pretty cheap, and the restaurant has daily specials. Since I just moved to the area, I hope to make this place my local watering hole. read more

Clickish and unfriendly. This is definitely a neighborhood pub. Anyone not recognized is basically stared down until you (we) leave.

The place reeked of cigarettes inside. We left within 1 minute of waking inside. Couldn't deal with the strong smell of cigarettes.

This seems like a spot where everybody knows your name, except my friend and I. We totally stick out, but that's ok. Everyone was super nice, said hello etc. Kat (with a K) is so awesome. Just wanted to try those late night restaurants that until now I didn't have the chance to even be up and awake to go anywhere! It's 1:44am. Been here for about 15 minutes, was given the last call for food orders. I ordered lumpia. It's probably the freshest lumpia I have ordered in a while. The servers were friendly. This place has several TV screens, a back room with billiard tables. There were 3 poker/casino game machines by the door. There is ample seating for about 10 people aside from at the bar. To each his own, this place isn't really my scene. We just stopped in for a night cap on the form of a Long Island. The drink was ok, the sour mix tasted watered down but I don't see it as a place to go for a good handmade cocktail. The stench of cigarettes was very pungent on the inside. (it was a yucky, rainy day). I called in advance to check in on activities, etc. When I walked in the door I was greeted by name and immediately felt like one of the family!!! I love Mel's...definitely is my go to dive bar. Typically an older crowd but I don't mind it too much. I always end up going with my coworkers and having a great night. Never overcrowded so you can always get a pool table which I think is four quarters. Pool tables are separated from the smoking section of the bar if you aren't into that. Every bartender is great, extremely friendly. Drinks are cheap!! I love playing my own music on the jukebox throughout the night -always a great mix of music on when I go in there. karaoke is definitely a hit on Saturday nights!! read more

We love this place and the owner. We came in here over a year ago and keep coming back. Small but very friendly "down home" bar. Great food too w very low prices & cold beer, of course . Only dowside is, it can get a little smokey but not a problem if you smoke. I'd say this is our modern day "Cheers". (Like the t.v. show) read more

this is actually a really cool dive bar. not what i expected at all! the drinks were pretty good. the only con is, you can smoke in here, so it gets super smokey. the bartender steve was on point and super friendly. kathryn was also great, i wouldn't consider the food at a place like this normally, but it looked really good. great locals joint. i'll be back for sure. read more

Mel's Place used to be better. Seems they try and sneak a drink or two on your tab. I would say pay as you go. The food used to be a lot better too seems like every time I eat there now I get sick. I think they need to change the oil more often that they fry the food in. The bartenders have attitude a lot more than they should it's not like it's a huge bar or anything they need to thankful for what customers they do have coming in there. read more
