Since I visit the airport often with work, I decided that when I went on a much needed holiday recently I would treat myself to some time in the Upperdeck lounge pre-flight.
At £18, I thought it was a decent deal with a 3 drink maximum and unlimited food - given I'd normally pay £8ish for a large glass of wine at one of the other airport bars.
I absolutely regret paying for this service as the wine I received was neither large, nor very nice - and while other options were available I'm not a huge spirit drinker. The food was okay, soup and sandwiches on offer as well as various nibbles. Saying that, the sandwiches were very plain, the nibbles were sitting out uncovered and the soup on offer that day was mushroom - food of ick for me.
On entering at first the decor looks very swanky - there's a lovely reception area but a slow check in process, and I arrived on the wrong side of a large group. Add to that, the decor once properly inside looks like a throwback to 70s local bar decor and I was less than impressed. I say save your money and go to one of the other bars in the airport where there's better service for much the same price. read more
