This location has essentially replaced what was Eye and Ear Hospital in Oakland, and is right next to Mercy Hospital. I've spent a lot of time here over the past couple of years as my mom first had cataract surgery on both eyes and had all of her follow-ups here, and now has had an emergency retina surgery here.
They have many floors and if you are seeing a doctor you go to a large waiting area and will be called for your appointment. If you have an eye emergency, that's on the first floor. My mom went in recently complaining of floaters and it turned out to be a tear in her retina that needed to be repaired on the spot via laser surgery or the retina would have detached and she would have lost her vision in that eye. Incredibly grateful for their quick assessment of the issue and ability to immediately perform this outpatient procedure for her, saving her sight. Like any urgent care or emergency facility, they triage you when you walk in and you can expect to wait a little (or long) while behind more urgent or surgical cases, but this is what you would want for yourself or your family member if you were the urgent case.
There is a parking garage and your first two hours are free, so if you are just here for a doctor visit or surgical follow-up you might well be free of charge. After that it is reasonable, just a few dollars for the next tier. There is a valet for $5 (plus tip if you'd like).
Appreciate the high standard of care here. read more
