I first hired Up Time Technology to build me a dual boot (XP of blessed memory and Windows 7 Professional) machine in 2010. They sat down with me and suggested a configuration in the middle for my QuickBooks consulting business. They pointed out that I didn't need to use a i7 chip for my set up, review, and training business and an i3 would be under-powered. Now seven years later, it is still running strong. I then went back when I had hard disk problems. They replaced the drive with a solid state drive, suggested that since I could do a fresh install that this would be a good time to switch to using a 64 bit operating system (I had chosen 32 bit because of problems with QuickBooks and 64 bit systems when I first got it built), and doubled my memory to 8 GB. Price was reasonable, on budget, and delivered on time. I recommend them to my clients who need real computers and not the crap sold at big box stores or Costco. read more

I brought in a working computer and in 2 hours got a call that my power button didnt work, my power supply was likely bummed?? possibly my mother board fried and operating system compromised or trashed. I brought in a working 1700.00 computer and its wrecked in 2 hours! And I should not interrupt until he was done and then he could answer my questions. No manager was available. I went in VERY upset. I clearly asked to speak quietly in a private office to a manager. I was refused. He had to speak to the tech with me. HIS CHOICE. I was almost hysterical and chose to leave as I was told I could not get upset .. they screwed up my computer and I wasn't allowed to get upset. I wanted to SCREAM! I stood on the street figuring out what to do and here comes the manager with my computer. He said it was all "on me" because I got upset! Oh, yes, they waived the diagnostic fee for breaking my computer. I hate to write bad reviews and to be in this kind of situation. I went somewhere else. Only the power supply was burned out WHICH WAS WORKING WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN!!!!! The new place and I discussed removing this review. I can't. I had to pay 250.00 to fix the damage. I dislike bad karma, but I am opposed to creating a very expensive heartbreaking time for a customer because of inability to listen or talk nicely. read more

I was disappointed by the service I received and the response when I e-mailed about the issues. I have had decent experiences here in the past but doubt I would return. Initially I justified paying more and traveling further because they were a "mom and pop" shop rather than going to a big box location but it wasn't worth it in the end. Getting your computer repaired is like trying to find a mechanic: I know nothing about the machine, I have a sneaking suspicion that the mechanic is trying to screw me, and it always costs a lot of money. That being said, the first two worries are essentially eliminated by going to Up Time. I have taken my laptop there twice now and have had very positive experiences both times. The front desk person is extremely nice and friendly. The techinician I've had both times, Scott G. explains EVERYTHING (even stuff I just nod my head to and pretend to understand). I ask stupid questions and he doesn't even blink an eye. Yesterday, after replacing my hard drive, he even spent extra time with me trying to figure out how to fix my keyboard. It's expensive, but all computer repair is expensive. They warranty the hard drives they put in for three years, which is a long time. They removed a virus from my computer before and gave me excellent advice on which virus program to use that would actually protect my computer. Not having my computer is like missing a limb, and I called twice in a day to check on it. They were still nice to me, and that is saying something. read more

AWESOME!!!!! AWESOME IN EVERY WAY!!! My computer crashed and would not so much as turn on! I shopped around and called 4 different places. Of the 4 places, Up Time Tech gave me the best explanation, told me to come right in and gave me a quote for repairs! I brought my computer in and they were able to extract or salvage ALL of my data and operating system from my old hard drive! My computer was shot so I had to buy a new one. I dropped off the new computer and they also loaded ALL of my data from the old hard drive to the new computer and completely set up my new computer for me. When I got the new computer back to the store and set it up, I turned it on and EVERYTHING was there just as it was before!!! After the fact I had a few questions and needed something else done and when I called my tech, Scott was able to remote right in and took care of my issue within 5 minutes flat!!!! This place saved me!!! They were so nice and did not treat me like an idiot and did not talk to me like I was a moron when I had questions!! Not only were they able to salvage my hard drive but they set up my new computer for me, helped me out days later and they got the initial job done pretty quick!!! Everyone there was great and very friendly! Anytime I called they answered the phone right away and the Office Manager answering the phone and the front desk staff was also GREAT!!!!! I purchased my computer from Uptime and had great service with this purchase; I have also had good repair service on past systems. However, I purchased new antiviral software from them and I had a crummy experience with their customer service and the product itself. When I spoke to a technician about my problem, I got the strong impression that I was imposing on him. My needs were not met; my questions were left unanswered and unresolved. Therefore, that being said I looked up the 1-800 number and got my concerns addressed adequately and the problem in question was resolved. I would not advise calling and asking questions over the phone, I was told that I was asking for "free services". Even after making a purchase of the product in question. I brought in a pc that I had reinstalled Windows on. After the reinstall, I couldn't connect to a wireless network and after several hours of trying to install the drivers from the dell web site I decided I needed the help of a professional. Both when I called the store and when I dropped off the computer, the employees were extremely courteous. Scott called a day later and explained what the problem was and how he fixed it. Up Time did a great job with a recent computer problem I had. The hard drive on my 16 month old Asus laptop abruptly failed, which for a digital hoarder like myself (music, photos, spreadsheets, DATA) was a terrifying reality to confront. I do backup my files, just not nearly often enough... While trying to stay calm, I made a list of about 15 places in the Seattle area where I could take the machine for a hard drive recovery. After calling around, I decided to go to Up Time because it was close to my residence and the help on the phone was excellent. After dropping the machine off, Scott had it back to me within 48 hours with a completely restored hard drive, data 100% intact! I am an OCD type when it comes to my precious computer, so I had a bunch of questions and a few subsequent minor issues to follow-up on, but Scott was patient with me and communicated effectively every step of the way. I can not say enough great things about these guys. They totally went out of their way to take care of me and my computer. I had just left the mac store with a quote to fix my macbook for $400 at minimum. I had a cracked screen on a 4 year old macbook, which is code at the mac store for sell her a new computer. Not wanting or needing to replace anything on the computer besides the screen I left the store telling myself i could totally send all of my emails from my iphone. I yelped local computer repair places and let the yelp gods do their work. I was told when I came in to Up Time by the receptionist that they don't work on macs, but she would see if any of the techs could take a look at it. They told me they could fix it, but it would be best if I bought the part online and they installed it, so that the warranty for the part would be in my name. Sounded a wee bit different than what i was used to hearing, but with a price tag of $50 for the part, $50 for the labor, I was in. I can happily say I am typing on that very laptop now and couldn't be more thrilled. read more

They are great! I was having horrible problems with my computer and took it in to Up Time Technology because of a high recommendation from a computer savy friend. I am very very happy with my decision. My computer turned out to have a virus all through the system, and Scott took care of it for us. He also installed an external backup drive, backed up our whole computer for us, set it for automatic backup, and installed a security system that will work much better than the old one we had. I was also VERY impressed at the way I was treated. I know hardly anything about computers. I can do the basics, but don't know refinements and certainly not the language or terms. For example I didn't know what a "browser" refers to, simple things like that. Scott didn't act like most computer people do. He actually listened to me, and answered all my questions in a way that I could understand and didn't make me feel dumb (like most computer techs do) because of the questions I was asking. I will be going back there to buy a router from them for our laptop. Their prices are reasonable too. My old XP machine finally crashed irredeemably, and I took it to Uptime to recover files from the hard drive. The good news was they were able to extract all of the files and put them on memory for me to access. The bad news was that there were tens of thousands of image files, mostly logos from web sites we'd visited over the years we owned the computer. There was just no way to sort the family photos from the little icons. That wasn't their fault: the O.S. was toast, and they did a good job getting anything. read more

I am VERY impressed at the service I received from David and Scott. I use my computer to work from home, so I needed help FAST. My problem was diagnosed within a couple of hours after dropping off my Dell desktop. David even helped me deal with Dell in getting them to honor the warranty and expedite my repair. Never buy a computer from this business. I bought a laptop from this company a little over a year ago. I decided to purchase from this business rather than a Costco or Best Buy because I wanted personalized, local service (which they promise) and I wanted to support a small business. What a mistake! Since we bought the laptop the mouse has always been very difficult to use and about five weeks ago it almost completely stopped working. We took the computer into them to have it serviced on July 2nd. They told us that the motherboard was out and it would have to be sent out to the manufacturer for repair and would take about two weeks. They also could not tell us whether or not it would be under warranty untl they talked to the manufacturer. To get a loaner would cost us about $160 for labor to set up the loaner. We agreed to let them do the repair and waited to hear from them. And waited, and waited and waited. After about five days we contacted them, they had no news from the manufacturer and said they would contact us when they did. We waited again, and waited and waited. We finally contacted them again only to find that after two weeks they still had not heard back from the manufacturer, they weren't sure why but now they would follow up with them. Upon following up they discovered that the manufacturer had never received the fax that Uptime had sent them proving date of purchase on the laptop. They told me they would find out what happened and get back to me as soon as they could. Five days later I called them back to find out the status. My service technician was in a meeting, I was told he would call me back an hour later. One hour and 15 minutes later I called them back only to find that my service technician had gone to lunch. I asked to speak with the manager, who to his credit was actually very helpful. He apologized for the lousy service, did some research, and offered us a free loaner with all of our files on it. Even after this though the repair was still not completed for another week. All told the two week repair ended up taking just over four weeks. And this company that offers "local service" failed to follow up with us adequately throughout the process. The equipment that they so thoroughly research and choose to sell because of its "high quality" failed on us. Everything that I had hoped to gain by going through Uptime for my computer purchase completely and utterly fell through. Next time I buy a computer I'll go to Costco or Apple.
