Note that the relaxation massage is not like your traditional Swedish massage. There's no lotion or long strokes on your bare body. Instead the massage therapist treats you while you are partially clothed and covered by a sheet. If you need serious bodywork due to pain or tight muscles then Guozhi is your man. I was not quite prepared for how intense it was. It was a LOT but I walked out feeling at least 90% better (I came in with very tense shoulders and almost a kink in my neck). There were two times when I had to ask him to reduce the pressure and he was so understanding. I couldn't believe how he went 90 minutes nonstop but he did. I had been struggling with extremely poor sleep, waking every one to two hours due to constant, intense numbness from my groin down to my thigh. At times, the discomfort felt even worse than the surgical site itself. Catherine explained that my circulation was not optimal and used acupuncture to help redirect blood flow. I noticed a difference right away. That same night, my sleep improved from one- to two-hour stretches to about three hours at a time. By the next night, I was able to sleep for five hours straight--the best rest I've had in weeks. The numbness also began to shift. Instead of staying concentrated in my groin and thigh, it moved toward the back of my thigh and eventually down to my calf, which is much more tolerable. While acupuncture hasn't completely cured my symptoms, it has made a meaningful difference in both my comfort and sleep.
