Situation: Color Correction *see photos*…read more Background: Bad balayage at another at Stilo Salon, by the owner no less, and turned out nowhere near the inspiration photos I brought in. I was hoping for beige highlights and got bright blonde. I asked for a refund and was only offered a "fix it at no cost". I declined. Intervention: Reached out to Vance who did my hair in the past. Don't ask me why I just didn't come back. Vance was able to see me pretty quick and did an AMAZING job!! He gave me beige highlights and darkened the base which I just love. I'm tanned skin so the blonde highlights was not flattering. Evaluation: I am forever grateful for Vance. He is very skilled at his craft. The result was exactly what I was hoping for from the very beginning when I stepped into the other salon. Note to self....i will never see any other stylist. I highly recommend Vance if you're looking for a highly skilled professional that will make you leave his chair feeling confident and amazing about your hair!!!

He didn't explain why and I am not sure why there is an appointment system if he wasn't there. I show him a picture of the style I want and he suggested me to get a perm. I explained I don't like perm but he kept asking me to get one before and after the cut. I understood my hair is hard and straight so a perm would make it easier to style, but I would have appreciated him suggesting another hairstyle instead of kept asking me for a perm. The haircut process was very nice though. Alan was very meticulous and it came out pretty nice. It took about another hour for the cut itself. Overall, I think the haircut is good and reasonably priced, but spending 1.5 hour for a simple cut is a bit too long. Maybe it's an exception this time. I would give it another try if I am in the area.

Located in a very prime location in downtown Millbrae, the salon is gorgeous inside! Very modern and clean. I got to my appointment early but was quickly attended to check in. Vee asked if I needed a hair wash which I told him that I already washed the night before. He said because my hair was very dry, he would give me a hair wash. It was so relaxing and he did an amazing job washing and conditioning my hair. Next up was blow-drying and he took a lot of time to not only dry it but used a barrel brush to style it and straighten it after. He was very meticulous! I showed him pictures of my hair inspiration and he said he could do the medium layer cut. I was so impressed with the outcome, it was a wonderful experience and can't wait to come back!

Customers should know the total mandatory price before committing to a service. California's Honest Pricing Law generally requires advertised prices to include mandatory charges rather than adding them later. Protein treatment: It was not simply "recommended." I specifically asked whether I could decline the treatment, and I was told no. At that point I had already paid a $250 non-refundable deposit, so I did not feel I had a real choice. Now I read the Google and yelp review, find multiple people have similar experiences, I wish I have read them earlier to avoid this place. 20% service fee: There is a significant difference between voluntarily service payment after receiving service and being required to pay a mandatory service fee before the service is even started. My previous visits do not change that distinction since those were paid after service was rendered. If a 20% fee is mandatory, customers should see that reflected in the advertised price rather than discovering a higher required total afterward. Plus I couldn't not find the 20% fees anywhere in the website and as I customer I'm not responsible to search policy everywhere of this shop if it's not mentioned in the confirmation message. $50 consultation fee: At no point when I booked the appointment or during the consultation was I told that selecting a color was a separate $50 consultation. That fee was only mentioned after I messaged you following my appointment, when it was described as something you had "waived." A fee cannot be considered waived if the customer was never informed it existed beforehand. Shampoo experience: When I mentioned the water became hot and then cold, my recollection is that you ended the shampoo and said I was done. I do not recall receiving an apology at that time. After the appointment: I told you I was uncomfortable with the overall experience but had to leave because the appointment started about 15 minutes late and ran longer than expected. And you replied ' That's your problem'. Again, is this 'service' and attitude fair to require 20% additional charges? I am simply sharing my honest experience so that future customers can make informed decisions and walk away this place from being forced to pay for additional services. Everyone deserves to receive good service with the price charged. I had been to this salon before, but unfortunately this visit was very disappointing. First, the appointment started about 15 minutes late, and no advance notice was given. During the hair wash, the water suddenly became extremely hot and then cold. The stylist's first response to me was 'ok you are done' and stopped washing. The biggest issue was the pricing. Before my appointment, I asked about the cost of a full color and was quoted $395+ for shoulder-length hair. During the appointment, I was told I needed a protein treatment for an additional $150. I felt that important pricing details were only explained after I had already arrived, making it difficult to make an informed decision. After I sit in and without any service performed , I was charged a mandatory 20% service fee. I was surprised that this was not presented as an optional tip but as a required charge. When I called to book, they were incredibly accommodating and let me know that my requested date would work perfectly since they had multiple nail technicians available. My mom had Tracy, who was absolutely wonderful. She gave my mom such a relaxing experience and noticed how tired she was. Since my mom has rheumatoid arthritis, Tracy gave her a gentle but firm massage that ended up being the highlight of her visit. My niece had Sydney, who was so kind and made her feel completely comfortable. She chatted with her throughout the appointment and encouraged her to speak up if she wanted anything adjusted. In the end, my niece's nails turned out exactly how she had imagined, the perfect mermaid color! I had Daniella, who was incredibly meticulous with both my gel manicure and pedicure. She paid great attention to every detail, and I couldn't be happier with the results. What really impressed me was how well the team coordinated everything. Since my gel manicure and pedicure took the longest, they timed my manicure perfectly so it was done while my mom and niece's pedicures were drying.
