Whatta treasure! Hands down the pet store in the great state of North Carolina. It's hard to put my gratitude for Unleashed into words but their contribution to Raleigh's culture makes it more than worthy of an attempt. Their downtown accessibility is a cornerstone for pedestrians in a car-dependent city, allowing consumers to avoid buying from big corporations simply based on accessibility, all while contributing to the local economy. Huge plus in my book! I could rant and rave about their staff until we're both sick of me talking. Not only are they knowledgeable - but they are so kind hearted! We stopped at this adorable pet store, while on a road trip to Raleigh. This store is so awesome! Pretty much have everything you need/want for cats and dogs. The staff were wonderful, and answered questions I had about their dog treats. There is a good range in prices for different items, and lots of variety. Their dog toy wall is epic, and my dog loved the affordable biscuits (priced based on the size of container). I got a good amount for $6! We walked into unleashed and were drawn into so much. There were unique items for both dogs and cats. We treated our "kids" to some specialty bones that they love. We also got some specialty canned food to mix with their dry food. Overall, it was a lot of great stuff in a small package. It was definitely a great place for our pets read more

Love the staff! Super sweet, knowledgeable and helpful! And my pup absolutely loved his birthday cookie from them. I like that this store carries high quality dog food and treats. My dog eats Orijen and usually it is hard to find in pet stores but thankfully I've found it here and at a reasonable price. I also love the huge selection of pet treats, chews and toys. You think the store looks small from the storefront but they sure pack a lot of goodness in that place. Plus their bully sticks and chews are much cheaper than most of those corporate pet stores and I mean significantly cheaper. Brady and I really appreciate that. If you're needing help finding the right dog food for your pet, these guys are the people to go to for sure. But either way it's a great place to stock up on goodies for your pup. I recently got a puppy named Elle and this place is in walking distance of my apartment so we go here ALOT!! Elle has been super picky about eating and an outstanding employee Jojo has helped me a lot with Elle! Elle started out on the wet food at 8 weeks old and it was really hard to ween her off it, with Jojo's help finding the perfect food and ways to ween her off I finally got her to eat dry food! I cried the first time she ate her dry food without the bone broth. Being a first time dog owner it is hard but the employees at unleashed have made it A TON easier! I've been to the Unleashed in Durham, but this was my first trip to the Blake st location. I popped in before dinner next door and was pleasantly greeted by a group of employees who were not only friendly, they were actively excited to help me. When I explained to them that I have a blind cat who I struggle to find toys for, the lovely young person with bright pink hair (didn't retain their name, good job me) made sure I found something that met his needs! They crinkle and make noises! They're too big to get lost under furniture! They satisfy his endless drive to pounce on stuff and bunny kick them til they're dead! And THEN they loaded me up with samples of cat food and treats for them to try! The employees were great and the products are so much nicer than the ones at big name pet stores, and Bean has a new favorite toy. I'll definitely pop in the next time I'm in the area! read more

I recently got my very first dog (a beagle) so I have now entered into the world of dog ownership. I was wandering downtown as I normally do on my lunch hour and came across Unleashed. I decided to pop in and check it out. Good selection of items, and super friendly staff! I picked up a bunny squeaker toy for Ace today and went up to the counter and a large dog (also a rookie when it comes to knowing dog breeds) jumped up and put his paws on the counter. It was the funniest thing! It was almost like he was the cashier himself. I will definitely be back! This locally owned family and community oriented chain of 7 pet store was recommended by our Dog Trainer (at Petsmart) and she was right. Superior product quality and prices to any other pet store in Raleigh! This store had the perfect harness, brand "Plush" for our Morkie and any  Yorkie mix, or Chihuahua or any toy breed with small neck size and small to medium girth. We bought and went through over 6 harnessness in 4 weeks at other pet stores before finding this high quality best features brand. Three locking mechanisms to prevent pulling off totally. Soft comfortable material far better than typical nylon harnesses. Finally a solution! Xena, the sales person, in the North Raleigh Stonehenge store, was so friendly and loving to our puppy. Only at a well managed privately owned store like this with great full time employees would you get such personalized attention.  Xena is a real dog lover and said she has three at home. She helped us find the exacty right brand and style for our 6 pound Morkie (Yorkie & Maltese mix), Rosie, who is 14 weeks and needed a 2xs which fits perfectly with room to grow. I have to pick her up by the leash because I can't bend over to the floor. Xena found the right solution to my problem thank God and Xena. What I also appreciated was the prices were about 30% less than the Amazon price for the same item. I read other reviewers who also said pricing is below big box stores explains their customer loyalty along with superior knowledge, products and customer service. I have been here a few times and have waited to write a review. I love this pet store. They have the best bully sticks in town. They also have a great selection of all types of dog toys, but especially durable dog toys which I really need with a lab puppy that can destroy almost everything. I would love to give the store five stars, but can't until the customer service improves. They first time we went in there were some very loyal customers, I assume this because the person waiting on them called them by name. We were ignored. I get it...small shop and if I were a loyal customer I would appreciate the attention. Unfortunately, this happened the second time too just without the distraction of other customers. What a cute store! Definitely geared towards the doggies but there is a kitty corner for you cat lovers. This store is located in the heart of the fabulous City Market and we stopped in to check out the treats for Pepper, Cookie and Rudy who were being pet-sit by our nephew while we were in Raleigh for the weekend. (Puppy parental guilt) One thing I've noticed about people who work in a pet shop, they absolutely are nice people. You can't be an ass and like pets at the same time right?!? No exception, the 2 people working today...a guy and gal were so cool. They answered our questions enthusiastically and with genuine interest and knowledge about their products. They have a really good collection of bully sticks, one in particular is by an all natural company that had some that didn't stick as much as the normal ones do so we got some of those for our chirrin. They have a great collection of holistic vitamins and treats for pets too. With the summer thunderstorms, these are a must for us because Pepper (bless his heart) really has a hard time with them. They carry a great selection of toys, leashes, food (wet/dry/treats) and leashes/collars/rain coats. We also saw a couple coming out of the back who washed their dog and it seems to be a great deals at $15. I love to support the local pet shops and this one was such a gem. I discovered this little gem of a pet store when they held a Doggie Halloween Party and Costume Contest as part of their grand opening. This shop couldn't be better suited to a City Market revival... local, unique, friendly, and welcoming. They've got it all! All of the treats, toys, food, leashes, and beds are of the highest quality. There is no wondering if you're pet will love this toy or that. The brands they carry have been pet approved and our dogs have always been happy with the items we bring home. Despite being a small shop, they have so much to offer including a $15.00 self-serve dog wash. That's right: bring in your pup, use their all natural shampoos and conditioners, blow-dry that fluffy fur, and out you go with a clean and happy dog! The staff are friendly and helpful. On our second visit, the gal remembered that we had an energetic puppy who was in desperate need of some chew toys. Not only that, she gave us some new suggestions while helping other customers. It's clear that these folks absolutely love pets. I would recommend following them on facebook and checking out their calendars for upcoming events. The Doggie Halloween Party was a smash hit with the owners wearing giant squirrel costumes. Hilarious! Awesome place... our new favorite! read more

I stopped by Unleashed few days ago to get Teddy's food- I am very picky about his food(yes mama spoils her baby) and Unleashed has a lot of organic food, non-grain food, raw goat milk and more! You just name it! They have tons of healthy food for your furry babies. Also, I just love Unleashed's atmosphere so much- this place is tiny, but they have everything from treat station(usually at the front door), lots of toys and food, bath station and more! Owners are super nice(locally owned) and their staff truly love your doggies and help you if you need any help. I stopped by around 6pm during the week day and this lady who was working there was extremely helpful. I told her that I was looking for wet food for my dog- she gave me lots of options, explained every detail, and also let me have free goat milk as a sample! 2 Wet food boxes, one free sample goat milk, one toy and one bag of treat was a little bit less than $50. I guess it is not too cheap, but I still think that their price is reasonable because of their good quality. Also, the thing I love most about this place is Unleashed throws lots of parties for pets & their owners. I attended two events (Halloween and Valentine's day-OMG their Halloween event is ***MUST attend*** event!!!) so far and all of them were so fun! If you are looking for good quality food, treat and toy, try Unleashed! I think this place is so much better than many other chain pet stores and again, don't forget to participate in their parties! I am so thankful to have a local place to buy my cats raw food!!!! Without them I would have to order it online (ew). My first trip here I was greeted by the cutest pup in a christmas get up. Also, the young woman that helped me was awesome and super helpful. Tucked in a strip of stores downtown...parking isn't easy, but parking downtown is never easy! This is one of the best pet stores in Raleigh, from someone who has had a pet continuously for 25 years in Raleigh. They don't have every single thing you might want, in terms of wholistic hard to get items, but it is such a VAST improvement over pet smart, that its hardly quantifiable. There is a large freezer in the back, also; for raw meat mix foods. Again, I don't use that food all the time (I buy my raw meat fresh, from the meat store - lol ) but it is useful from time to time and a great transition for pets going to raw from dry.
