The mammo technician Bonnie explained every step during the process and asked how I was doing throughout. She was awesome! I used to be fearful of the discomfort of this procedure, but with a gentle technician such as Bonnie, it was a relief indeed. Sharon, the tech, was equally compassionate and professional, and Mariah, who prepped me for the MRI, was just as wonderful. When asking about test results and test scheduling I never communicated with the same person and often times received different answers for the same question. They don't help with expediting or scheduling preop appointments. I was left on my own having to go through the general appointment line. They consistently acted as if they rather not be bothered. To me, this is really a reflection of the physician. Most excellent physicians that I have known would not allow their patients to be treated this way. Having been diagnosed with breast cancer is a scary thing. The additional stress of having to make phone calls and emails constantly added to my stress. The staff needs to get it together. I would not recommend. A little compassion goes a long way. I have been a patient elsewhere at Hopkins and most of the time I would rate it a 4 or 5. The imaging staff at Greenspring were great. There also seems to be an issue with them saying things that never actually happened did. Back in April, I scheduled an MRI for one part of the body *with contrast*, sent an order over specifically for that part of the body, only to have Washington Open MRI mess up entirely. I got a call on Thursday saying that they had a question for my provider and for my insurance. The Washington Open MRI staff claimed that they would reach out to both. It seems they did not. They claimed that they'd need to cancel my insurance if they didn't hear back about an authorization. So, I called my insurance company for authorization. My insurance plan doesn't require authorization for this procedure, and moreover never received an authorization request. The staff claimed that they initially scheduled my appointment at Owings Mills and then would have to reschedule because a doctor who could oversee contrast quit. No doctor who oversaw contrast ever worked at Owings Mills. A doctor at another facility quit, and they shouldn't have even scheduled someone with a contrast order at Owings Mills. But, instead of being honest, they lied about it. The staff claimed it was my fault that I was scheduled for the wrong procedure. I told them that the order was in an email, I called for an MRI, and there was no way it was my fault. They later admitted that new schedulers weren't trained well. But again, no one takes responsibility and tries to resolve the issue. It's just someone else's fault. Had I actually gone through with the procedure, my insurance wouldn't have covered it since it would've been a duplicate of another MRI.

I told her I have $0 copay and my Cigna was an 80/20 plan and I get an EOB (explanation of benefits) after it's processed and I'll pay the balance. She said even though it wasn't processed yet and the scan wasn't even done yet I would have to pay the estimated responsibility. I said I get paid tomorrow can I pay half today $72 and the other half tomorrow. "No, absolutely not, You have to pay the full balance and if insurance covers more of the procedure we'll credit you back the difference". I said you guys can't work with me at all? She said "yes, you can apply for Care Credit card to use". So I cancelled and left. Now they are texting and emailing me several times a day about rescheduling. Advanced Radiology is complete sh*t show, their front desk staff is rude, they are NOT patient friendly. They will not work with you and don't care at all about the people coming to see them. When I called to talk to them about what happened I spoke with women in Pakistan that barely knew English. I was transferred twice and they didn't understand what I was telling them. One said the $143 was my copay. I told her my card said I have $0 copay. Please do yourself a favor, if you need imaging done, stay away from Advanced Radiology, especially the one at Franklin Square, they are beyond awful.

The proprietor, Kevin, was a tremendous communicator and explained everything thoroughly. I knew what to expect going in and then he meticulously explained what my results meant, where they fell along normative values, and what, if anything, I should be concerned about. I would definitely come back perhaps a couple of times a year to see if my dietary plan is on track. I'll update the review once I am in touch with the nutritionist but I'm very pleased with the service so far.
