We had a small water plumbing concern with our sprinkler system and went on the Angi website on Sunday night and they called me immediately. We discussed the problem and agreed to meet first thing on Monday morning. I contacted him later via text and sent him pictures of the valve and he knew exactly what the diagnosis was on and how to complete the work plan. He showed up the next morning and my wife provided access to the backyard and garage. He went to work diligently. We knew our main water box had been covered up due to a landscaping upgrade to the front yard and he couldn't turn off the main inlet. He had proposed a solution and scope of work, and we agreed upon the cost to complete that objective. He removed the rocks covering the landscaping and cleaned up the work, which was a considerable amount of extra work. He replaced the valve, tested the system and cleaned up the area. He charged my wife the original quote which was significantly lower than what we verbally agreed upon on the phone after discovering the extra scope of work, that was admirable and showed character. The level of professionalism and workmanship Alain demonstrated highlighted the depth of this technical ability. He adapted to the work plan and cleaned up a significant amount of rocks and mess that saved me a considerable amount of time. I would highly recommend United Xpress to complete any plumbing repairs and tasks and feel their proficiency and 5-star rank and rating are well deserved. I am a disabled senior and only have one bathroom. I must have access to it 24/7. On the evening of April 3rd, 2025, I had an emergency plumbing need--water was leaking from the back of my toilet-but there was no back up inside the bowl--it was empty and wouldn't flush. The plumber that I have used for years was not available that night so I resorted to Yelp hoping I would find someone reputable. Universal said they would come out within an hour, but of course it took more than two hours so I had to go somewhere to use the restroom, Upon my return, there was a different company at my house; Knock-Out Plumbing with a different phone number. I was later told by Universal they were a sister company. They opened the clean out in the front of my house next to the sidewalk, showed my husband the camera which only a few feet into the pipe could be seen because of all the backed up water and corrosion. He informed us that the main pipe under my house needed to be replaced because of the corrosion he showed my husband on the camera. He guesstimated it would run about $9500-$10,500 and would email us an estimate the following day. I called my regular plumber the next day and told him what happened and asked him to give me an estimate as well. My plumber ran his camera down the front clean out and showed my husband that it was impossible to view our main through that clean out, only the pipe to the manhole in the street could be seen from there and the City is responsible for cleaning out that pipe NOT me! I was furious to learn that I was swindled out of $824. I asked my plumber what he would have done had he been available. He said he would have charged me $200 for the house call, immediately recognized it was a city problem, called their after hours line, and waited for them to come and clean out the pipe which they did the next day. When I called Universal who had the knock Out plumber call me, I told him he lied to me about the pipe, their man "Martin" said well we stopped the leak. He added that they would've charged even more for something but by that time I was livid and hung up on him. They took advantage of us period. DO NOT TRUST EITHER OF THESE COMPANIES! read more

We purchased a garbage disposal and it's installation through Lowe's. Angi pro sent Martin from Universal Plumbing and Rooter. Martin is very friendly and helpful. He initially installed the unit which first appeared to be a defective unit. After de-installing it for return, he decided to try the unit in another outlet. It worked so he installed it again. Martin went above and beyond by assisting us in clearing the aerator on the kitchen faucet and helping me make a video on how to use the disposal wrench for unjamming. Martin responded to a call through Choice warranty. He came over and did a diagnosis which seemed fine. He said he'd submit a report but five days later I heard nothing. Not sure what was going on with him and Choice, but when I called again he's like a different person. One moment he'll say he will submit the report. Another moment he'll say choice needs to send him something first. Yet after a few turns of chatting he said let's just reassign the case. It sounded like he didn't want the job, and so I asked him what he wanted to do. Still no direct answer, again it's between "choice needs to call me" and "ask them to reassign". No initiative. No proactivity. Not sure what's going on with your life Martin. I hope you pull it together. read more

We recently purchased a new dishwasher and needed it installed. I called Martin and he came by the next morning to install it. He found that the dishwasher was smaller than the space allowed. He contacted a cabinet maker to finish the job. He also replaced our outdoor hose bibs and inspected the house for leaks.
