Sweet Life Foods is a dumpy little grocery warehouse on Avocado Street, a gritty little dead-end…read moreindustrial street tucked out by the river in Springfield's North End. It's nothing fancy, inside or out a low-slung steel warehouse that shows it's age. The aisles are rough warehouse shelves and there are no fancy displays, just cut cases of goods with the prices indicated by a label on the edge of the shelf. Inside, you'll find aisle upon aisle of canned goods, packaged snacks, wholesale boxes of candy, Goya products - virtually everything you would need to stock a small neighborhood convenience store or bodega. Items are sold, for the most part, by the wholesale unit, case, or half-case only. If you're buying for a store, a lunch wagon, an event, or maybe a large family you'll find Sweet Life Foods handy. If not, you might still want to stop for things like lunchbox snacks, food storage wraps and things, or the office candy bowl. Prices are generally on the low side, but as is true no matter where you shop, know your prices before you go in. Many times local supermarket sale prices are lower per item than the wholesale case prices here. Cash, debit and credit cards accepted (I don't know about checks, sorry.) The employees are friendly and helpful. Interesting bit of trivia: The actual name of the business is Cash & Carry #0830 and they are owned by SuperValu, the same company that owns Save-A-Lot discount supermarkets. They took on the "Sweet Life" name because they're in the old Sweet Life Quality Foods distribution warehouse, and when Sweet Life went out of business years ago they never took down the old, 1960's-era sign over the front door.

A woman came to help me and I explained the situation. I asked her, "If I buy a different pair, can I return them? She might only want the specific pair you don't have." She replied, "Yes! You can absolutely return them." So, I bought a different pair. Thirty minutes later, I found the pair I originally wanted at Faces, so I immediately brought the other pair back to Megan's Treasures. They informed me that I can only exchange or get store credit. They would not budge on this, even after they lied to me about it. I was appalled. These are among the sleaziest tactics I have ever experienced at a store. They are unconcerned with customer satisfaction and won't hesitate to scam you. Never shop here. UPDATE: They would not accept my store credit literally days later. There was some sort of "error" in their system. So I gave them money and received absolutely nothing.

I called the store and spoke with the manager, who told me to return to either of their stores and I would receive a refund. When I returned today I was informed by the clerk and the manager that they would only refund with a store credit. I took the credit but was not happy with the solution. Later the owner of the store did contact me and offer an apology and offered a cash refund. All this trouble over less than $20.00 seems too much I will not be shopping in this store again. The help doesn't seem to be well trained or customer orientated. I like to shop locally, but sometimes the business is not worth supporting. Beware if you shop here.
