I'm so pleased with my recent hair visit today. Dell was incredibly friendly and responsive to my texts and worked with me throughout the process. Also big thanks for squeezing me in before the holidays but more importantly, not rushing and making me feel at ease. I'm extremely picky how I like my purple balyage and Dell certainly went above and beyond to the level of service, attention to detail, communication, and listening to my preferences in colors, tones and hair style. Dell is also extremely welcoming and refreshingly down to Earth, makes you feel comfortable right away. My hair is been beautifully revived, feels and looks amazing. Highly recommend! read more

Dell is so talented. She is patient and kind and makes you feel so comfortable in her chair. Whenever I have an appointment for a haircut. I'm always excited that I get to chat with her bright and sweet disposition. She is excellent at styling and cutting hair. She is the total package. Most of her clients are long-term clients. As I am new to her, I could see that I too will return to her time and time again. read more

I contacted Unity via their website and and someone got back to me in a couple days. They asked for some information, which I gave them plus pictures. More than 10 days later I have not heard back from the individual despite sending two more texts. I used to go to this salon often, and now I can't even get a return call or text. I'm immensely saddened because I feel there is one of two reasons: One is because I'm non-binary, the second is because of laziness. I only hope that it is the later not the former. Please understand this review is based on my experience with only one individual through text, and I am willing to share screenshots with other interested stylists from Unity to show that I was at no time rude or curt. read more

I can't say much about the salon, other than it was nice and clean. There is free parking across the street. Here is my disclaimer: I only went to this salon because my stylist Breanna - who I've followed for YEARS plopped herself here. I love Breanna and I have been following her around this whole time. I will follow her wherever she goes. Even though it's super early - getting in a 8am on a Saturday was kinda nice. I had the whole day left afterwards. I usually do some highlights and coloring to my hair each time I see Breanna so my usual takes a few hours. Being able to have the rest of my day is nice. read more

My wife has been going to Crystal for at least 10 years for cuts and colour. She's been extremely happy with her work, hence the return visits for 10 years. After taking my 5 year old daughter to a few of those "kids salons" to get uneven hair cuts and bad styling, we decided to take her to see Crystal and I wanted to slap myself for not taking her there sooner. My daughter has very wavy, dry hair and Crystal knows just how to work with it, rather than try to make it do something it just doesn't want to. She really pays attention to my daughter and engages in conversations with her; it's very cute watching the my daughter "gossip" with her stylist and both of them seem to enjoy it. Crystal rules. read more

Jennifer Moeller has been my hairstylist for the last 10 years. I trust her and no one else to cut my hair. She has been in the industry for many years and the experience shows through her work. Everywhere I go, people compliment my hair and Jen deserves hands down all credit! I always look forward to our chats. She is an extremely insightful mind and I must say, getting my hair done is a stimulating experience on the outside and inside. As for the rest of the salon, it is an artistically modern environment that always has a great thread of music playing. I very much look forward to seeing all the other warm and friendly faces that I've come to know through the years. Have to make a special shout out to Tracy, their manager who always is making sure I have the correct take home products to maintain my style. Great service, environment, products= 100% satisfaction! read more

I love this salon! It's such an adorable salon in downtown Fullerton! Very welcoming & friendly! Receptionist is always super sweet! I've been going there for almost 2 years now to Shelby. She is truly AMAZING with my color & extensions! I had been wanting to go to her for a while (I know other people who go to her and their hair is just gorgeous) but I had a stylist I was already going to at another salon. I finally bit the bullet and parted ways with her and booked with Shelby (anyone who is loyal to a hairdresser knows how hard this is to do lol) and I'm so glad I did! Not that my previous girl was doing anything wrong, but I just LOVE the way Shelby does hair! If you're looking for a new place to go, don't give it a second thought and schedule at this salon! read more

Jenny Alida is amazing! I have been going to her for several years now. She is so fun to talk to, she never ceases to impress me. At times I go in there and say "work your magic" .....and don't give her exact descriptions of what I want. Because she takes the time to get to know her clients she knows what to do. She knows my style well. She has brought me through dark brown, to light blonde, short, to long hair and every time I have loved it! I even trusted her with my wedding hair. She does fabulous up-dos for proms and weddings. Go visit Jenny Alida. She will not let your down, spunky friend and talent all in one! read more

Sure, everyone at Unity Salon is super friendly and seem competent at their things. I even see return customers, once in a while, so I know they have a steady business. Tbh, I've ever only had Melinda work on my hair. Melinda has been coloring and cutting my hair for quite a many years. She's the best. Living in Los Angeles for many years, I've been around the block with quite a few colorists and cut specialists, and there's nobody I've been able to afford that's better than Melinda. Now, my super blonde hair is super healthy, too, and I basically don't do anything special to it. I use to have to have to condition and repair my hair, and they would still muck it up, either with banding from uneven lightener application, or overprocessing. I happened to be working in the area for the last year, so have been going to her consistently. In the future, I will travel for Melinda, when I don't work in the area anymore. read more

(deep sigh) I was really hoping that I would like this salon and after reading such good things about Crystal, I hoped that she would be able to cut and style my crazy, curly hair. Sadly, this was not the case. The salon is nice, but Crystal (despite being a very nice person - I actually really liked her) gets the dubious honor of giving me one of the worst cuts since I moved to Orange County seven years ago. It is too short, a little uneven, and there is a huge chunk of hair missing from one side of my head. The back is okay (except for the shortness). The color isn't bad, but it isn't very good. The styling was horrific - think electrified poodle. I just don't get it - at least when I got bad cuts in San Diego, the stylist would at least style my hair really well before I left. My hair is actually really easy to style - the curl makes it easy and someone can actually cover a bad cut really well. But everyone in Orange County seems to want to send me out the door with a frizzy mess. If only stylists would LISTEN to me. I tell them exactly what my hair is like and exactly what they should do to get the best cut (I have, after all, had the most experience with my own hair). And Crystal, like all the others, refused to do what I suggested. Maybe I will just start cutting my own hair. read more

This is a review about Penny as she is the one who butchered my hair. I had come to this salon after reading all the great reviews on Yelp and I desperately need to fix my hair since a different salon had given me way to many layers when I had asked for just an inch or two of layers. I showed Penny a picture of exactly what I wanted (which was a chin length bob) and what she did was nowhere near it. She gave me a pixi cut...When she asked me how I thought, I calmly told her that I didn't like it and pointed out that it wasn't what I had asked for. Her response? "Maybe you have issues with people who cut your hair." REALLY?! Maybe you should just give me the hair cut I asked for. Her reason why she cut my hair shorter than the woman in the picture was that I was Asian and the woman in the picture was white......ooookaaay.... On top of that, it was $65!!! My sister had her hair cut with her too. She only wanted a trim of an inch or two. That's it. and it was also $65!!! read more

I went to this salon because of it's rave reviews from other members and let me tell ya, it did not disappoint! I requested Heather, also from what others have said about her, and she was phenomenal! I chose a hair color that was a bit difficult to do, too much red, it would look orange, too much yellow it would look blond, I wanted neither, and it came out PERFECT! I love love love my new hair color and cut. I would definitely recommend requesting Heather. Natural Hair Color: Dark Brown Dyed Hair Color: Strawberry Blond(ish) Hair Cut/Sytle before: All natural, not dyed "virgin hair" Hair Cut After: Layered with Bangs Hair Stylist: Heather Sims Before and After Picture(s): http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a33/justfabulous22/BA.jpg read more

My review is a continuation of my sister's: http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=MlSl8RnpFaroQyDqE2Bu8A We came to this location together because, like my sister said, of the great reviews on Yelp and it is really unfortunate we didn't have a great experience. My sister left a few things out during our visit at Unity Salon. In addition to Penny's comment about maybe my sister having an issue of people cutting her hair, she responded to my request to curl my sister's hair to see what it would like styled after the cut, "I don't curl hair." Wait. What do you mean you do not curl hair? Even though we didn't have a great (let alone a good) experience, we each still tipped 15-20% My hair cut was difficult to butcher and was fine (though not worth $65 excluding tip). Regardless, the horrible experience for my sister has turned me off of this place forever. Listen, if your potential clients specifically asks for someone who is comfortable cutting short hair, please do so. read more

I consider myself a harsh critic when it comes to getting my hair cut simply bc I have long, thick, dark hair and stylists hate drying it to my standards. ..they never bother to finish and I always end up at home after cuts to style it myself....so I am def always nervous going in to new salons! Today I called in to Unity Salon and the front desk girl was very nice and went out of her way to get me in today. Since I just moved here, I actually Yelped hair salons and after all the great reviews and number of ppl asking for BreAnna, that is exactly what I did and got her! Needless, to say BreAnna will now be my go to girl when my hair needs some attention. She took her time and made sure I was satisfied with her every move. Most importantly BreAnna's personality was so easy-going. She never made me feel like I was being too picky or a burden. She is definitely worth the time and money! Everyone was very friendly, the salon was clean and where I come from the price was more than fair. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! read more

Guys... I HIGHLY recommend you see BreAnna... she is absolutely the best stylist I have ever had. I have been a client of her's for years now, and I have never left her side. She is highly experienced, authentic, and trustworthy. I literally dont trust my hair to anyone else but her. She doesn't rush through the haircut like others do.. she takes her time to make sure the cut is perfect. She is worth it! I also recommend Celeste if you guys want to get your eyebrows cleaned up. I can admit that I do get them cleaned up every month; Celeste made me feel comfortable, and did an awesome job. I usually go to these local spas that probably use old wax and leave my skin irritated, but Celeste did such a great job that my skin didn't get irritated and looked very natural. read more

I went here to try a new salon and a new stylist. I don't remember her name but she was sweet and... mute. She didn't talk the whole time which makes me feel very awkward. My hair came out good. A little darker blonde than I usually perfer but not bad at all. Everyone else seemed to be BFF with their stylist and I felt left out because my girl didn't like me. It was expensive. The hunt for the perfect stylist continues. I will take any recommendations you blonde yelpers can offer! read more

BreAnna was amazinggg. I did want it lighter but you just don't go straight from black to blonde. My hair doesn't looks orange its a pretty gold/ash tone. I already set up my next appt. Thanks BreAnna! read more

When I can't see Audrey for a haircut at Dylux, I make an appointment with Crystal at Unity. She is so awesome. The salon is in the Old Town section of Fullerton. The stylist look really hip, and the place has a very New York loft look to it. They take walk-ins, but appointments are highly suggested, especially for Crystal since I have noticed lately she has been very busy. Crystal has been cutting my hair for over two years now, on and off. She is very sweet and has a great sense of style. There were a few times when I have asked her to experiment with my hair, and each time my hair looked fabulous. One of those cuts made my honey drop to his knees. Seriously. She is also excellent at taming my wild, curly hair. She has lessened the pouf and she takes the time to flatten it out when needed. Crystal will also offer refreshments for you to sip on and there are a ton of current magazines available for your reading pleasure. I usually come here for a deep condition, then a cut and style. This combo runs around $70 I believe. Yes, it is a bit pricey, which is why I only make a visit a few times a year. So the next time you want to look fierce for that new job, or make your man drop to his knees, make an appt. with Crystal. She'll take care of you. read more

I have finally found a salon that I hasn't disappointed me. I was a walk-in, waited approximately 10 minutes to get started. While I was waiting... I was offered some tea and I got started on my hair shortly. My stylist was BreAnna, she's very nice and fashionable as well. I had my roots done, she did an awesome job with matching my previous color. I had also bleached the front part of my hair, and made it look exactly how I wanted it. Plus, I had told her that I do want a trim, but I don't want my hair any shorter like how the other places just chop off my hair. She did exactly what I wanted, and she made me feel very comfortable. She even curled my hair for me at the end, because I came in with my hair curled in the beginning. She is the sweestest thang~ This salon is on the pricey side, but if you get BreAnna...she's definitely worth it. read more

Omg. Words cannot even describe how amazing this place is. Not only is Dell the most amazing, sweetest stylist in the world, but im writing from under a blowdryer right now, at 8:45 pm. Dell, and the salon, got me AND my sister in for an appointment at 7 pm the week before christmas. They CLOSE at 7. I love this place, they are so accomodating and Dell is a top notch stylist who is so good at what she does. The first time I came in i told her what i wanted, and she listened closely. I would get my hair cut at the little discount shops in my area, and frankly I was never 100% in love with it. It was cheap and convenient. Never again. -- I am now a convert. Jenny Alida is who I will now be referring my friends to. She is amazing. I actually got up and hugged her. She took all my vague descriptions of what I'd like my hair to be, and made sense of it all. She's charming, and I honestly could not be happier. read more

I LOVE this salon!!! Since summer is coming around I wanted to make a drastic change to my hair and blonde seemed like the perfect change I needed. I am a natural brunette and it is no easy task to change my hair color (trust me, I found out the hard way when I was 12) and I needed to find someone that knew what they were doing. After reading on Yelp about BreAnna, I decided to give her a shot... I LOVE BreAnna! She is in all sense of the word, an ARTIST. I kept telling myself not to get my hopes up (I'm the "cups half empty" kind of gal) and BreAnna completely blew my mind! I have never had so many people compliment me on my hair. I even have people asking me if I'm a natural blonde! She takes her time and it shows :) The price does not bother me one bit when it comes to my hair. She went above and beyond my expectation and I cannot wait to go back in 6 weeks or so. Thanks BreAnna for my new do! read more

The continuous bright side about unity is that you're always able to call them up and get an appointment the week that you want it. Or, if you want it, depending if your hair stylist is in that day, that day or the next. I first walked in, January 2009, unsure of what to do with my hair. It was getting skraggly, that's all I knew, but I knew nothing about the stylists here nor the location. (It's right on the corner of Harbor & Wilshire.) At the time, there were less than 10 reviews for this establishment, each and every glowing with compliments to this salon. It's so close to me! I had to try it. The first person who walked in to take me was Heather. A woman whose fire lights up so bright; you can instantly tell what kind of person she is when she starts up the conversation and keeps it continuing. She's always smiling whenever I walk in and I've never seen her bad side, which speaks more for other establishments and their stylists. She changed my blah-shoulder length hair into a short a-line sort of bob/cut that had compliments throwing at me at every corner. Yeah, I like compliments! Coming down to Unity Salon is my one serious splurge when it comes to me. A cut/trim hits me at $60, but I honestly think that Heather and her magic scissor-wielding fingers are worth every penny. read more

This review is for Penny. She is an absolutely AMAZING hair dresser! I've been seeing her for well over a year at this point and she always makes my hair look incredible. Alison is my hair super-heroine! Are you seeking the most amazing stylist? Well you're in luck because Alison can make all of your hair-related dreams come true. Sound slightly melodramatic? Well I assure you, it isn't! I've been getting my hair cut and styled by Alison for years and she always makes me look and feel so beautiful after she's done with me and my (naturally unruly) hair. I honestly was never able to get my bangs cut the way I envisioned them until I went to Alison, so she truly does make hair-dreams come true!! Long-haired ladies, you know the pain I am talking about when you're trying to grow your hair out and some stylist keeps hacking it all away every time you go in for a cut. I've been keeping my hair pretty long for a while and I appreciate how Alison doesn't cut off 6 inches of my hair when I'm just going in for a trim, yet I still come out of her chair with healthy hair and my long locks in tact. Such a super sweet and funny lady that genuinely listens to what you want to do with your hair and is a delight to spend time with while she works her magic. I would still be going to Alison if I hadn't moved out of state, and am now seriously considering taking a trip to see her because SHE IS THAT GOOD. It's so hard to find a great, trustworthy stylist so I was so happy when I found Alison. Go check her out, she is the best!!! read more

I was searching for a salon on yelp and came across Unity Salon. It was close to my place and got great reviews. I saw that Heather got so many good reviews, so I called in and made an appointment. I told her what I wanted and it was that simple. My hair came out great. Perfect for what I wanted. I would and will be going back. read more

Sometimes I wake up in a cold sweat from the scariest nightmare ever, no not giant brussel sprouts or people eating washing machines..WORSE! Carmen moved and i'm left hairstylistless. Maybe you think i'm exaggerating, OR maybe you know Carmen Costescu and can totally sympathize. Carmen is ah-mazing!! Carmen's the only person that's touched my hair in about 5 years, unless its someone gently stroking my silky hair while wishing it was their own. i keep my eye (just one) on them though cuz i can't have my hair ending up in someone's weave. Color is this woman's bff. She's made my super dark hair a really nice non-yellow non-chola blonde, copper, red, plum, pink and everything in between. Last two times I got a brazilian blowout and i think it's time for another. Besides having hair skillz Carmen is an amazingly sweet/funny/nice girl and i LOVE seeing her whenever i get the chance. Skills and personality is like the super best, for reallyz not for fakeyz. If for some reason Carmen really did move to somewhere i couldn't stalk her I would probably just let my hair grow forever like those one ladies you see with the really long hair and you're like 'ew omg what does your shower look like after you bathe?!' yeah. that'd be me. read more

Considering I have unruly halfrican hair, it's always been quite difficult for me to find a good hairstylist who doesn't either try to talk me into an expensive weave, or absolutely annihilate my hair with poor relaxing jobs. My husband has been going to Crystal exclusively for years, and Crystal recommended that I see Jennifer about taming my crazy mane. That speaks a lot of this place right there. She didn't just try to take me on for herself. She recommended the stylist she thought would best be able to deal with my hair. I've been going to Jennifer for about two years now and she's awesome. I used to just have her relax my hair, but after she recommended the movie Good Hair to me, I dropped the relaxer for good. Now she works with my natural hair, and I have NEVER gotten so many compliments as I have since she started working with it. She's also super sweet and flexible. My hair takes forever, so she usually ends up having to multi-task if she wasn't allotted enough time to deal with it. Still, I'm never left just sitting in the chair waiting for her. Maybe it's because she's a mom, but she can definitely focus on more than one thing at a time with no problem. read more
