Although they began in 2016, they didn't actually start public activity until 2017 and in January 2018 had their first play production "THE CONSUL, THE TRAMP, AND AMERICA'S SWEETHEART", written by one of the company. As it was about Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford and the Nazis, I kind of thought the play would not resonate with the typical mall shopper in Gaithersburg. But the author did a nice job of explaining the references, so it became a play about universal values and actions, very applicable to today. The setup of the stage is "in the round" and every seat is about 3 feet from the acting. You cannot get a bad seat. For this production, the acting was quite enjoyable -- hey, this is a professional company and it shows in the acting and timing of lines. A small lobby provided refreshments and a looping of scenes from Charlie Chaplin's movies. Some of the scenes were re-enacted or referenced in the play. Only negative was the ambient noise from the Mall.

Now it's been quite some time since…read moreI took dance lessons, but in a recent conversation with a friend who's interested in ballroom dancing, I highly recommended Now and Then Dance Studios explaining how I loved the private one-on-one attention with the instructors, the group lessons, and the dance parties. At first, it was intimidating to see others dancing so well, when I couldn't figure out at first how to do a rock step! I didn't think I could do it, but with the dedication, passion, and patience from the instructors, I learned the Foxtrot, the Waltz, Rumba, Cha-cha, Swing, Disco, a little Tango and Merengue. Now, rather than getting on the floor at weddings dancing the all-too-familiar penguin dance (basically rocking side to side like a penguin), I owe my confidence level and dance experience to Now and Then.

The building used to be a stable that has beautifully renovated. It definitely has farmhouse touches with the wood, faux pocket doors and rustic touches. There is a reception area on the main floor where there was coffee(I love it already!) and refreshments. There is accessible parking out front and an elevator for those who may need it to get to the theater upstairs. The theater is small and intimate with 99 seats. I wanted to take pictures of the theater, but they were doing panel discussions and I just didn't feel comfortable snapping pictures during such a thoughtful process. As I understand it, they also provide services to the community around art in the form Of classes, discussions and even camps for the kids. So yes. . . Gaithersburg has begun to grow on me even though I live in Southern Maryland. I live over an hour away but I didn't mind the drive. I would definitely come back again.

We were so lucky he agreed to drive well outside of his usual area to perform. His illusions were mesmerizing, and he expertly handled a room full of inquisitive and skeptical kids by getting most of them involved in his performance. He gave a great message in the end of the performance also, drawing on the themes of inclusion and acceptance from the Harry Potter stories, which the adults present also mentioned as being a highlight. We cannot say enough great things about his professionalism and performance and we would highly recommend him for any event!

Vick had a wonderful story line and great tricks that kept everyone's attention! We had some guests that are very skeptical of magic tricks, and he still blew them away! I'm so happy we had him! We ended up starting his show a little late, unfortunately, but he was incredibly patient, set-up, and mingled with a few guests while he waited! He then put on a 45-50 minute show for all of us, and included some guests, my father, and us in the show!
